New Model: Tornado 38 Cruising

Tornado Marine present the new 38 Cruising, third model which makes use of this successful hull sold in over five hundred units in a long production run which is still going on. The 38 Cruising adds with the other Sport and Flush Deck versions, and is very different to what concerns the accommodation being the most comfortable of the trio. But outside is also different with Cruising having a shorter forward deck, and longer aft cockpit. H30 the design firm which was commissioned these changes, presented a lower deck now having a two double cabins plan, plus a convertible saloon making overnight possible for six persons. A separate shower head, and galley are also to be found on the lower cabin deck below. The cockpit exterior aft deck has also been changed having an L-shaped settee, sun lounger, and a corridor which leads to the bathing platform uninterrupted. Improve-it = Sciallino S23 Cabinato

Sciallino are proud to announce their first hybrid boat born on the S23 Cabinato in cooperation with Mizuno Marine from Japan, and Italian Scandiesel. Sciallino first hybrid powered craft with diesel and electrical engine will be introduced at the Yokohama boat show in Japan on March 2011. A new step in developing a modern and ecological boat, based this time on an entry level traditional cruiser the S23 Cabinato model. The Steyr engine running diesel mode will drive the Sciallino's to the open Japanese sea and ocean, thus emphasizing the hull's strength and seaworthiness. On the other hand, one could turn the diesel off, to activate the electrical modem and the traditional gozzo hull will softly glide by the shore, quiet and respectful for the environment, with the great efficiency of full displacement cruising. It seems many builders are trying hybrid power, although this seems so far more of interest to large plus seventy feet sizes, all smaller to nine meters boats.

Project: Rodman 20m Navetta

After presenting the Spirit line a couple of months ago, and the Muse range in 2006 Rodman continue its efforts to expand and present a diversity of yacht styles with the new Navetta line. For this new project Rodman Polyships entrusted a Spanish firm with Barcelona Yacht Design tasked for the design of this new line which has a plan of having three models in the near future. So far we are being shown the rendering of the first twenty metre model, but a 24 and a 30 meters are also on plan. These last two models will put Rodman on the Super Yacht map, having at the moment the 74 Muse designed by Fulvio De Simoni as its largest model. The 20m Navetta will have a total length including the very large aft bathing platform of 23 metre and can be handled with a standard yachting licence. An explorer appearance abound in this new model, which is mixed up well with modern thinking thanks to large glassed surfaces on the main deck. But don't be mistaken the 20m Navetta is full of modern yacht flair in and out, and its speed is not slow at all. Inside the 20m Navetta will feature four guest cabins with owners suite to midship, and a VIP to fore. A crew lobby with cabin, small galley and saloon is to be found aft, along with a fourth double guest cabin located to starboard. The main deck is a split level saloon with the standard welcoming relaxing area aft, and dining, galley and helm station to fore. Tender stowage is on the flybridge, although the large bathing platform gives space for a second tender, or to use the fly for large entertainment areas. Twin Man 1360hp engines will power the 20m Navetta with the builder and designer estimating a top speed of 25 knots, and a cruise of 20.

New Model: Sealine F42

One of the most expected end of the year debutant's was the Sealine F42, replacement to the F42/5, and new model which continues the minimal styling as started with SC35 presented in 2007. The SC35 amid criticisms from the brand fans and aficionados has sold over two hundred units so far since its launch, which considering recent times is a huge success. Sealine has followed the eleven meters sports cruiser design theme with the SC47, F46, and now the F42. As is for this new model Sealine follow themes of the F46 in a little smaller package, loads of natural light interior, spacious aft deck, large flybridge, and pod propulsion. The real difference is the lower deck, which moves the owners stateroom to fore, and replaces the full beam mid ship suite with a three berth cabin having a double and a single berth. Power choices are twin Volvo 370 or 435hp choices both with IPS pods propulsion. But Sealine have also said during the Southampton show, that a Cummins ZF pods choice should follow.

Benetti inaugurated a new semi-displacement line, entirely made of aluminum with the new 47m Imagination hull FB501. The first model FB 501 for this new series has been delivered to her owner in mid July 2010. Imagination should be considered the evolution of the Golden Bay line designed by Stefano Natucci, who also signed the new 47-meter yacht. The interiors, completely customized according to the owner’s needs, have been designed by Francois Zuretti, and feature a six double cabins plan. Surely innovative is the owners room having a private terrace with jacuzzi on the fore peak deck. The yacht has exterior lines that are original both in their conception and in form. Class 1 - Dubai Grand Prix

Race 1
Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir Bin Hendi today underlined why they are triple World Champions with a faultless flag-to-finish win in race 1 of the Emirates/Dubai Duty Free Dubai Grand Prix. The Fazza pairing, who secured the 2010 Class 1 World title two weeks ago in Abu Dhabi, produced an effortless performance dominating the race from the start, completing the 12 lap, 50.42Nm race in 34mins 39.78secs at an average speed of 160.53kmh. Today's twentieth career win for Al Zafeen and Bin Hendi, already Victory Team's most successful partnership, makes them the third most successful partnership in the sport behind Steve Curtis and Bjorn Gjelsten. With the Champions out front and heading off into the distance, the race for the podium was fought out between Team Abu Dhabi and GSG Ceramic Design. The battle was eventually won by Team Abu Dhabi's Rashed Al Tayer and John Tomlinson, producing yet another impressive outing, improving on their third place in qualifying to take second place, their second podium in five race starts. After a disastrous morning practice session which saw GSG Ceramic design sidelined after a blown engine, a podium finish for Guido Cappellini and throttleman Giampaolo Montavoci, on his 51st birthday, was more than they had expected.
But their podium celebrations were short lived after GSG Ceramic Design failed post race scrutineering for a technical infringement relating to the restrictor, blow off valve and air box size specifications, and was subsequently disqualified. The post-race ruling elevates Welmax's Kolbjorn Selmer and Jorn Tandberg, who earlier in the day clinched the 2010 Edox Pole Position Championship to third spot, ahead of Negotiator in fourth, with Relekta and Skydive 2010 completing the top six. There was disappointment for MITI/GiorgiOffshore who stopped after three laps.

Race 2
Arif Al Zafeen and Nader Bin Hendi brought down the curtain on the 2010 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship with their ninth win of the season on a day of mixed emotions at the Emirates/Dubai Duty Free Dubai Grand Prix. On the first anniversary of the tragic loss of powerboat champions Mohammad Al Mehairi and Jean-Marc Sanchez, the Dubai Victory Team's Fazza crew wanted to mark the occasion with a win dedicated to their team-mates. And on a day when Class 1 produced the race of the season, they delivered a fitting tribute to Al Mehairi and Sanchez winning from the front despite a titanic effort by Edox Pole Position Champions Kolbjorn Selmer and Jorn Tandberg in Welmax. The Norwegians pushed the UAE stars all the way losing out by just 3.81s after 67.74Nm of intense competition. Fazza wrapped up the 21st Class 1 win of his career with Al Zafeen at an average speed of 178.38kmph. Win number nine in 2010 also secured the Middle East Class 1 Championship for Fazza to add to the World and European crowns they had in the bag prior to the race. But the victory was never a forgone conclusion with the Welmax crew piling on the pressure throughout the race as they claimed second by just over fifteen seconds from Italians Guido Cappellini and Giampaolo Montavoci in GSG Ceramic Design in third. Behind the two leaders GSG Ceramic Design's Guido Cappellini and Giampaolo Montavoci produced their second impressive performance of the weekend to make it two podiums from six outings together this season. It was a stunning finale to a Class 1 season that has seen Bin Hendi and Al Zafeen win 75% of the races they have started and take the world title by a record 96 points over their nearest rivals. While Fazza and Welmax were having their own private battle at the front of the field, there were other bragging rights being fought over elsewhere. With their closest rivals Talib Al Sayed and Abdullah Al Mehairbi sitting out the final two races of the season after crashing in Abu Dhabi, Italians Giovanni Carpitella and Luca Fendi needed just four points to claim second spot in the World Championship and they grabbed the overall silver medal by claiming fifth in the race in British boat Negotiator. It meant Al Sayed and Al Mehairbi claimed third in the world in SkyDive Dubai. In the Middle East Championship, Team Abu Dhabi's Rashed Al Tayer and John Tomlinson claimed overall second place behind Fazza thanks to a hard-earned sixth place despite starting well behind the field thanks to a propeller problem on the first lap. Third place in the Middle East series goes to Selmer and Tandberg. Fourth place for Skydive 2010 was a marked improvement on yesterday's performance, but there was frustration for MITI/GiorgiOfshore completing just four laps before an engine problem ended their race, with Relekta stopping six laps later with a gearbox problem.
