A 58 meter super yacht titled m/y Idol got stuck in the bridge on its way out of the Pisa Channel, on Tuesday 31 May at approximately 1100 hours. During the impact m/y Idol was tug towed, and had just finished a refit at the Seven Stars shipyard, which included a new paint job, bow and stern modifications, and the addition of a helipad. Idol got stuck on the Autostrada Azzurra Bridge which in low tide has an air draft up to 11.8 meters above water level. After the accident the super yacht was berthed in Livorno with the extent of the damage reported to be minimum.
M/y Idol is a 2007 Austal Oceanfast 58.9 meters, build of alloy to an inhouse exterior design and interior by Sam Sorgiovanni which originally launched as m/y Outback.
