Two persons were killed as a Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup truck towing a thirteen meter Riva sport cruiser failed to break and hit several vehicles on a red traffic light stop, on US-50 in the intersection of South Carson Street, Carson City, Nevada just before 13:00 of Tuesday ninth November 2021. The two killed passengers a man and woman from Dayton were travelling in a GMC Sierra 1500 pickup on South Carson Street, and where hit by the Ford pickup on the right side and were reported dead on the spot. Following the collision the Riva cruiser and its trailer unhinged itself from the Ford pickup truck and also hit a Mercedes Benz GL-Class SUV and a Nissan Xterra SUV. In total nine vehicles were interested in the collision. The 26 year old driver was ultimately arrested with twenty charges, and taken to Carson City jail, where he awaits his trial. The major cause of the accident was reported to be an overload payload of seven thousand kilograms.
The Riva in this accident is a Rivarama 44 as designed by Mauro Micheli and produced from 2006 to 2010. The Rivarama was a replacement to the Tropicana 43, and then evolved and replaced by the Rivarama Super.
