5 Persons 1 Dog Saved as Classic Chris Craft Sinks in Saginaw Bay

Five people and one dog were saved as a classic seventeen meter Chris Craft started sinking about a mile and a half northwest of Spark Plug Light in Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron, Michigan at 11:30 of Wednesday first July 2020.  The US Coast Guard Station Saginaw River in Essexville was notified by Bay County Central Dispatch who deployed a 45 foot response boat.  When the Coast Guard response boat arrived a woman of the five guests was already in the water, who was rescued immediately, with the four guests and a German shepherd dog being dropped off the sinking yacht.  Ultimately the Chris Craft sank in nine meters of water listing on its starboard side, as it had about two foot showing above the water.  The yacht was reported by its owner captain to have started to take on water from the bow lower deck before it sank.  A salvage operation is currently being organized.
The classic Chris Craft in this sinking is a 57 Constellation as produced in wood from 1963 to 1972 in 262 hulls.  The last 57 Constellation delivered was also the last wooden build made by Chris Craft.  The 57 Constellation was a replacement to the 55 Constellation and was replaced by the Chris Craft 58 Roamer Riviera.
