Projects: Albatro 60 Tender, Albatro 70

North Italian builder Albatro after launching its 50 Tender Open model back in 2006, and updating it last year as the 50 Tender aims to upgrade its Rib Yacht and Cruiser range with a full line up from 45 to 70 feet. Pictured above is the project for the 60 Tender model which will be available in two different styles. For example you can have the 60 in the HT glass hard top or a Fly version as pictured above. Other options are for the aft deck which is available with a large central sun pad, or two C-shaped settees on the sides. Interior layout have not been communicated, but do accept a performing hull with 40 knots plus of top speeds as Albatro usually delivers this in all its models.
The Albatro 70 will be huge step for this builder which builds its current biggest boat at 50 feet. This 70 aims to put a shorter difference as seen by other boats between what is a rib and a yacht. As all rib over a certain size this term is usually the tubes in the sides and this is usually a full glass fibre boat. Although the tubes do in fact deliver a safety feature not found on a standard solid construction. But apart the nearly full glass fibre construction the above rendering does in fact show many yacht like features with deep side bulwarks, a possibility of C-shaped dinette on the fore deck, and the sports flybridge up top. As for the 60, Albatro has so far not confirmed nothing below but they do show some rendering images which suggest a two large cabins layout. Engine choices are for triple 720hp or quadruple 480hp set up propelled to Italian Jolly surface drives.

New Model: Rio 42 Art

Presented in the end of Winter Naples boat show, the North Italian Rio presents the 2010 new 42 Art model. This Rio is a totally new model being on facts longer and fatter to the 42 Art presented three years ago, which actually was an extended model of the 40 Art launched in 2005. The new 42 Art is also powered with stern drive propulsion versus line shaft of the older model. So as we can see this is not a super structure tweak, but a change of substance from Rio who continue to win the hearts of customers by offering good looking Sport Cruisers which have among the most luxurious spaces in their sizes. The 42 Art has many elements which are uncharted territory for many builders, like its huge and very comfortable open cockpit deck. Here you find an L-shaped settee which occupies the port aft part, a relaxing sun pad to fore on the same side, galley wet bar opposite, and helm station to starboard. Below the spaces continue again the theme of open spaces giving an L-shaped galley, settee being horizontal to the ships side, VIP suite to fore, and a full beam mid-ship located owners master stateroom aft. Power is from twin Volvo 330hp engines, with efficient stern drive propulsion.

INBUILD ~ Galeon 780 Crystal Part 2 of 9

We continue our journey in the building phases of Galeon 780 Crystal in its dedicated Inbuild section. The Inbuild series shows how Galeon two feet shy from a Super Yacht size flagship is in the making, from the rendering design showed here in the fall of 2009 to its launching in mid late coming Summer. In this second part you are seeing the deck mould of the 780 Crystal. Covered in plastic this first main deck mould is positioned upside down. Those two boxes are in fact the split level interior main saloon, and the forward raised part represents the area with galley, dining table, and helm station. Further aft you can also see a triangle vertical shape which is the tender garage, which looks to be a similar system to that seen on the 700 Raptor.

Project: Sessa C54 Sport-Coupe

Sessa pulls out a new project for a sixteen metres open yacht, the C54 Sport-Coupe. Coming live in the next Cannes Show in September this new model will continue Sessa vocation as a trend-setter, and ever improving quality coming by, reviving and expand its sport yacht range, what will be a challenge in this size. Designer Christian Grande and Sessa set the tones for a Sport Yacht with closed lounge main deck concept as the C68 flagship, and as recent models continue with striking aggressive looks and so called animal features. Sessa objective is to give the C54 Sport-Coupe the C68 amenities, and as it happens this project mirrors the flagship in many ways combining characteristics of a performing and sporty open, to those of a comfortable, elegant yacht. The C54 Sport-Coupe is also Sessa's fourth generation hull developed for IPS, following the C46, C43 and the 54 Fly. Sessa is one of the few to have used IPS so extensively and in my memory only another Italian yard does in fact uses the Volvo forward looking pods more to this, which made possible to take advantage of an experience to optimise this technology to the full and incorporate better use of volumes. This does in fact deliver a lower deck with three double cabins, including a full beam owner stateroom to mid-ship with separate shower head. A spacious galley is also located on the lower deck, entirely freeing the main saloon for entertainment and lounging having here an eight person guest table, bar, convertible settee which transforms into a sun pad, and the separation glass patio door which makes the C54 a summer and winter sport yacht. There will also be a BBQ area behind the cockpit, a hydraulic stern platform, and a crew cabin which is so welcoming that can also be used for guests. The C54 Sport-Coupe shares a similar hull shape, twin Volvo 700hp engines, and second generation larger IPS pods to the 54 Fly which should also mirror the 32 knots top speeds achieved by Sessa first flybridge yacht.
