Astondoa Super Yacht Destroyed by Fire in Ibiza

A 28 meter Astondoa super yacht titled Da Vinci with seven persons onboard including guests and crew, had an onboard fire first and then was wrecked by a blaze as it was cruising near Es Vedra to the South West of Ibiza on 11:20 of Monday eleventh August.  The yacht was assisted by the two government boats; Concepción Arenal from Maritime Rescue and the Ibanat natural park patrol boat.  The Maritime Rescue ship rescued the four guests, two crew and the captain and controlled the fire, or so they thought as after some minutes the blaze re-ignited in the yacht as it was under tow, with this suffering the fate of being wrecked.  The cause of the fire is not reported, though it was advised as starting from the engine room.
M/y Da Vinci is a 2002 Astondoa 95 GLX as designed by Nuvolari and produced from 1997 to 2004 in ten units.  The 95 GLX was a replacement to the Astondoa 90 GLX and was replaced by the 102 GLX. 

Flybridge Cruiser Saved From Sinking in Girona Spain

A ten meter flybridge cruiser with four persons onboard was saved from sinking near Santa Margarida, Girona, the Mediterrean side of Spain on the morning of Monday eleven August.  Salvamento Maritimo responded to the emergency with the Salvamar vessel and the Lyra crew, and rescued the four boaters first.  After this the emergency operation was continued to save the boat, with the Lyra lifeguard crew finding the water ingress coming from the exhaust riser and securing it, after which they towed the flybridge cruiser to its mooring in Santa Margarida.

Project: Nerea NY40 Walkaround

Nerea continue to expand its NY40 sport cruiser platform, and present the NY40 Walkaround.  The Walkaround version of the NY40 provides wide, safe passageways from fore to aft, allowing easier movement to the fore deck.  Two steps up lead to the fore, but continue the walk around feature of the side deck, with the sundeck located on the usual NY40 deck level.  The Nerea NY40 offers a lower deck accommodation sleeping four, with a V-shaped dinette or double berth forward, and a twin berth at midships, with a shower head to starboard.  With this new Walkaround version the Nerea NY40 now features seven versions; this including the three propulsion choices; stern drive inboard, outboards, shaft drive, Open or T-Top option, and the Cosmo Platform option for the bathing platform.

Azimut Yacht Collides Into Submersed Object in Balearic Sea, Spain

A 25 meter Azimut super yacht collided into a semi-submersed object in the Balearic sea, Spain on the evening of Saturday ninth August.  Salvamento Maritimo assisted the super yacht first by towing it, and then by removing the semi-submersed object, which was discovered to be a wooden cable box which stuck to the fin stabilizers located at midships of the hull bottom of the yacht.  After removing the object Salvamento Maritimo towed the yacht to a nearby marina for damage inspection.  The damage from the collision was not reported on the Salvamento Maritimo Facebook page which reported the incident.
The yacht in this accident is an Azimut Magellano 25 Metri as designed by Ken Freivokh and produced since 2020 so far in 26 units.  The Magellano 25 Metri was a replacement to the Azimut Magellano 76.

Sport Cruiser and Fishing Boat Collide Near Viareggio, Italy

A sport cruiser of twelve meters in length with ten persons and a five meter fishing boat with two persons onboard collided just one nautical mile outside of the Viareggio harbour, Central West, Tyrrhenian sea side of Italy on the morning of Saturday ninth August.  The big sport cruiser collided into the starboard side of the outboard powered five meter fishing boat, with the two persons onboard the smaller vessel jumping in the water before the collision.  The Port Captaincy of Viareggio, Guardia Costiera, and Vigili del Fuoco tended to the accident, retrieving the two uninjured persons from the water, and then saving the smaller boat, first by emptying the gas from the fuel tank to avoid the risk of fire and then towing it to Viareggio harbour and lifting it up from the water to safe it from sinking.  The cause of the incident is under investigation, with the bigger cruiser reported to be going up North to Porto Venere.  The big cruiser sustained minor cosmetic damage, while the small fish boat suffering important damage to its starboard side.
The sport cruiser in this collision is a Caliari Yacht Coanda 42 as produced from 1988 to 1992.  Caliari Yachts was founded by yacht designer Paolo Caliari, operating from 1985 till 1992 and producing yachts from ten to 24 meters.  Coanda was the sporty name of Caliari Yachts producing two models, a 54 which arrived in 1985 and this 42. 

New Model: Majesty 100 Terrace

Presented during the 2025 Dubai boat the past March is the Majesty new 100 Terrace as designed by the Dutch Phantom studio.  A replacement to the 100 model after seven years of production, the Majesty 100 Terrace is adeptly named as such for its expanding fold down terraces, which expand the aft deck, but also open the view while lounging.  The Majesty 100 Terrace also features a private terrace to fore peak, serving the owners stateroom located on the main deck, along with 270 degrees views.  Dutch designers Phantom presented the 100 Terrace presenting a sleek silhouette and bold presence, while still delivering an important 199 Gross Tonnage of volume. With this increase in space the 100 Terrace offers a 20% increase in entertainment space, with every deck designed for social gatherings, while the interiors balance form and function for comfort.  Bathed in natural light through expansive glass skylights, the yacht’s wide, open spaces create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, enhancing its airy, open feel. The Majesty 100 Terrace boasts expansive entertainment and dining areas framed by floor-to-ceiling patio doors, creating a perfect space for social gatherings.  The upper deck features a luxurious sky lounge and wheelhouse, while the lower deck houses four spacious suite cabins for eight guests. For added indulgence, the sundeck includes skylights, jacuzzi sunbeds and dining spaces, catering to those who crave an extra touch of luxury. The Majesty 100 Terrace is powered by twin MTU 1920hp which give a twenty knots top speed.

Project: Beneteau Grand Trawler 63

Beneteau present the project for the Grand Trawler 63.  The Grand Trawler 63 is very much based on the 2022 to 2024 produced Grand Trawler 62 as designed by Massimo Gino from Nauta and naval architecture by Angelo Micado of Micad and produced in 27 units.  The noticeable difference of the Swift Trawler range flagship are the new larger hull glazing serving the cabins on the lower deck. But other comfort and technical updates have been made for this new Grand Trawler; from a redesigned helm station, improved sound proofing in the crew cabin, and a transition from hydraulic to the Xenta electronic system.  For the remaining the Grand Trawler 63 keeps the 62 features from a choice of three or four double cabins, and a full displacement hull which has a range up to 900 nautical miles at nine knots.

Sunseeker Yacht Collides Into Sail Yacht in Villefranche

A 22 meter Sunseeker sport yacht under British flag has collided into the twenty meter sailing yacht Nababbo in the bay of Villefranche sur Mer, at about 21:45 hours of Tuesday fifth August.  This news is reported on the social media Facebook and Instagram pages of Nabbabbo Yacht Charter, by Giulia the hostess and chef of the charter operation, which operates seven yachts from nine to 28 meters.  Giulia says that the Sunseeker yacht entered the five knots speed limited bay of Villefranche at planning speeds, without navigation lights and then collided into the port side of Nababbo, piercing its upper part of the hull but also hitting and damaging its mast, as the above picture shows.  According to Giulia it is a miracle that no one got hurt, as the Sunseeker yacht also had people on the foredeck.  The Sunseeker yacht sustained to what looks mostly cosmetic damage, and departed Villefranche later on Thursday seventh.
The Sunseeker yacht in this collision is a Predator 74 as produced from 2018 to 2022.  The Predator 74 was a replacement to the Predator 80, with the model replaced by the soft evolving Predator 75.
S/y Nababbo is 1992 build Vallicelli 65 as designed by Andrea Vallicelli.  Nababbo has won important offshore sailing regattas; Roma per due in 1991, Colombiadi in 1992, and the Antigua Sailing Week in 1998.

Mazu Yachts Founder Lost Following Collision Near Marmara Island

Searches are ongoing for Mazu yachts founder Halit Yukay, as his eleven meter Mazu sport cruiser titled m/y Graywolf was founded severely damaged and partly submerged near the Island of Marmara on fifth August. Later it was found out that the Mazu cruiser collided with m/v Arel 7 a dry cargo vessel which operates in the area, with the captain reporting to feel an impact at around 17:00 of Monday fourth August, and after observing two pieces of wood floating in the water, stopped the vessel and here also spotting a life buoy. The captain of the cargo vessel said he informed the ships company but not the coast guard, and was later detained on suspicion of manslaughter through negligence and has since been released under judicial supervision, including a travel ban, as the Turkish Coast Guard reportedly discovered scrape marks on the bow of the cargo ship which indicate a collision with the sport cruiser. Yukay departed on 15:10 of the fourth August with Graywolf from Yakova, for a stop in Athens to collect his wife and child, with Mykonos reported to be a next destination.
Halit Yukay's body was found on the 23rd August at 19:00 in a depth of 68 meters near the reported collision site.  The body was found as divers used side-scan sonar and ROV devices.  A recovery of the body is being organized.
The Mazu in this collision is the Fortytwo model as designed by the same Halit Yukay and produced since 2017. The Mazu 42 is mostly based on the 38, with the difference that it is a walk around sport cruiser with integrated T-top.

New Model: Maritimo S60 Sedan Motoryacht

Maritimo presented the first S60 Sedan Motor Yacht at the 2025 Sanctuary Cove boat show held at the end of May. A sister to the M60, with the extended hard-top replacing the enclosed fly bridge, but also based on the F55 and S55 hull form with this extended in length. The Maritimo S60 has been a long time coming with the project presented with the M60 flybridge variant in early 2022.   The S60 features Maritimo recent unique traits from the huge spaces of the aft deck, and also the largest beach club bathing platform in its category, which also features an incredible wet-bar at waters edge.  Inside the Maritimo S60 has an aft galley layout, this located to starboard, with an L-shaped dinette forward, a helm station, and an L-shaped lounger the opposite side to port.  The lower deck offers three double cabins, served with two heads, with an owners full beam master stateroom at midships.  Other features you find only on Maritimo is the big stowage area under the floor of the aft deck, which can also be fitted as a tender garage, able to take a tender up to 2.85 meters, but also the option to use the hard-top deck space as an utility area with a crane davit to assist.  The Maritimo S60 is powered by twin engines from 800 to 1150hp from Scania and Volvo, and all these give a 25 knots cruise speed.  The first Maritimo S60 Sedan Motor Yacht was powered by twin Scania 900hp.
