Pershing Yacht Saved from Sinking Near Gaeta

A 23 meter Pershing sport yacht titled Miotus and under Italian flag was saved from sinking near Serapo, Gaeta, Italy on the late morning of Thursday twentieth June. The Pershing yacht had departed Gaeta yacht marina with seven persons onboard direction to the island of Ponza when four nautical miles offshore, water starting to come into the hull. Seeing this, the yachts captain called a mayday and then turned direction, and anchored the yacht in a scheduled beach near Sirio, with the Guardia Costiera coming to the rescue with two boats; one to retrieve the yachts passengers to safety and a second to assist the yacht. A specialized firm followed, rescuing the yacht and taking it to safety in Gaeta for investigation on this near sinking.
Miotus is a Pershing 76 as designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced from 2002 till 2008.  Similar styled to the 88 flagship which debuted in 1999, the Pershing 76 came out as a replacement to the 73 and was replaced by the 80 model.

Yacht Sinks After Running Aground in Vilano Inlet

A seventeen meter down east inspired lobster yacht with two persons onboard, partly sank after it ended aground following water ingress in rough seas at Vilano Inlet, St. Johns County, Florida at about 15:15 of Wednesday nineteen June.  A St. Johns County Marine Rescue crew member noticed the yacht in distress, with the two persons onboard making a mayday call and then putting their life jackets.  At this stage the two persons ended in the water pulled into the seas by the rough conditions, with St. Johns County Fire Rescue rescuing them about two hundred meters away from the yacht position.  After this the boaters where taken to Vilano Boat Ramp but both declined further medical treatment.  A salvage operation to save the seventeen meter yacht is currently being organized.
The traditional yacht in this sinking is a Palm Beach Motor Yachts PB55 model as designed by Mike Richards and debuting in 2012 and still in production today.  Founded in 1995 Palm Beach Motor Yachts has grown in popularity in the last fifteen years, for its combination of high tech construction and ageless classic inspired looks with modern amenities.

New Model: Fairline Targa 40

Fairline finally return to its bread and butter size with this new second generation Targa 40.  It would be interesting to know why Fairline took eight years to return in this size segment, which has been its biggest success since when Sam Newington managed to make his brand a household name.  For making up to the long wait Fairline decided to be bold, and so the Targa 40 comes with the interesting option of a drop down bulk head serving the aft cockpit deck to starboard, something a bit unedited on a eleven meter cabin focused sport cruiser which gives as much space inside as it does outside.  Fair to say drop down bulkheads are not new in 2024, Italian yard CNM presented them on its 50 Mediterraneo model back in 2008, and in the last decade all the new generation of sporty more day then overnight cruisers which have replaced the classic cabin sport cruiser in the core sun focused markets have them, they are though a new thing for a boat of this exact type and size even in 2024.  Thanks to the optional drop down starboard side bulk head the Targa 40 fills two shoes which other similar hard-top sport cruisers do not, that of extending its cockpit space and that of having a beach club in just eleven meters.  The Targa 40 impresses in other areas beside the drop-down balcony as well, the garage space under the port-side sun-pad which can accommodate a tender up to 2.3 meters is unthinkable when one looks at it from outside for example.  Other nice features are the flash single level cockpit deck, and the exterior mini-galley with wet-bar, and a lower deck accommodation a cabin sport cruiser of twelve meters offers; two cabins with four berths, plus a convertible C-shaped dinette with galley opposite.  Is the Fairline Targa 40 perfect?  She is nearly there, although twenty centimeters more to the bathing platform would have got her closer to full marks.

Over Capacity Charter Ends Aground in Virginia Beach

A fourteen meter charter boat was the cause of mayhem in Virginia Beach, Vancouver on Sunday the sixteen of June.  First this boat was filmed in The Narrows being over capacity and listing to one side and looking in difficulty to manovre, then the same boat is reported to have run aground in Broad Bay and possibly damaging the oyster beds in the grounding.  The coast guard later determined that the flybridge cruiser was running an over capacity charter, and also did not cover enough safeties for all the thirty guests onboard.  No one was injured in this accident with Virginia Marine Resource Commission and Virginia Marine Police investigating to see if oyster beds were damaged during the weekend incident.
