Although Winter Custom Yachts have had more attention in the express sub fifty foot market in recent years, the company debuted by launching the 62 Convertible W-1 in 2006. This new 66 Convertible hull W-38, which started construction in Summer 2023, follows the roots of the North Carolina sportfish cruiser and yacht builder. W-38 actually started life as a 63 foot Convertible design, with it becoming three feet larger as per customer demands. The original 63 project featured power by twin 1925hp Cat engines, but with the commissioning of W-38 Winter has been very quiet on details.

Stolen Sportfish Ends Beached in Vilano Inlet
A stolen nine meter express sportfish cruiser with one person aboard ended beached first and then partly sank in the South of Vilano Inlet, St. Augustine, Florida on the afternoon of Monday sixth May. At first the sportfish cruiser was stuck in sand only for it to partly sink later on at about 18:00 hours, with the boat washing on the beach the following morning. The area has had extremely low tides in recent days, and while the man onboard tried to deploy an anchor he was unsuccessful in minimizing the damage, with the situation turning from bad to worse. The sheriff and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was on the case, with SeaTow entrusted for the salvage of the boat and removing its pollutants.
The express sportfish in this grounding is a Luhrs 290 Open model as produced from 1992 to 2002. The 290 Open was a top seller for the nineties in its size and express sportfish type, also because of Luhrs custom inspired looks followed by a competitive price. The 290 Open came out as a replacement to the Tournament 290 and was replaced by the 30 Open.

New Model: Apreamare Gozzo 38 Cabin
Apreamare is pleased to announce the launch of the first unit of the new Gozzo 38 Cabin. This event not only celebrates the launch of the long-awaited traditional inspired looking cruiser, but also confirms Apreamare role as an innovator, without losing touch with tradition as the historic Neapolitan shipyard has been known throughout the world for designing and building boats since 1849. Conceived by Cataldo Aprea and designed by designer Marco Casali and engineer Umberto Tagliavini, the Gozzo 38 Cabin evolves from the famous Gozzo 35, introducing new elements in the design for an extremely comfortable on-board experience. The 38 Cabin was designed to expand the internal spaces and guarantee greater protection and accommodation on deck, making it ideal for multi-day cruising in every season and sea condition, although Apreamare has offered similar solutions in the past on its thirteen meters plus and larger cruisers and yachts, it is the first time it is offering a fully enclosed cruiser at eleven meters in size. The new Apreamare Gozzo 38 Cabin will be officially presented at the upcoming Cannes boat show followed with an Italian premier and the Genoa Boat Show the following week, where enthusiasts will have the opportunity to admire this latest example of Italian nautical craftsmanship firsthand. The first Gozzo 38 Cabin will cruise the seas of Northern Europe, confirming the marine aptitude of this model designed for the owner who wishes to navigate comfortably all year round and in all weather conditions, even enjoying a multi-day cruise. This is possible without betraying the winning spirit that animates Apreamare’s projects: great seakeeping, hull stability, comfort, and beautiful shapes and lines that recall the centenary tradition of Sorrento gozzi.

Weaver Boat Works New Web Site
Weaver Boat Works presents its new web site. Located in Maryland overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, Weaver Boat Works started out in 1998, when Jim started to make a life long dream of building his own custom sportfish which launched in 1999 and was sold a few months later. Jim Weaver came from a construction company background, and owned various production sportfish yachts, falling in love with sportfishing after participating at the White Marline Open in the eighties. A dream always existed to build his own boat and followed the footsteps of his father-in-law Bill Payne, who build wooden bay boats from 1956 to 1968. At eighteen years old Jim actually helped Bill build a commissioned thirty foot bay boat. In 1998 in collaboration with his captain Pat Rohrbach, Jim Weaver started to build his first boat, which was for the most part an own design, inspired from an Island Boat Works he saw hauled up and from which he took some measurements. The first Weaver, a 58 sportfish yacht which was titled Dream Weaver will make an important test to Mexico, and on its way back in Palm Beach ends up sold, which will make Jim build his second hull and sell it again, only from there on to become a full time custom builder. Since hull two Weaver boat works are designed by Donald Blunt. Weaver has since 1999 build 39 custom builds from 23 to 97 feet, and its currently building three other hulls. Weaver new web site take you around with the following buttons; Home, Current Builds, Current Inventory/Specs, Weaver Past Builds, Merchandise, Fishing Tournaments, Videos, Galley, and Contact Us. Weaver is also on social media with right top link taking you to its Facebook and Instagram pages.

Classic Hatteras Back In News After Abandoned in Charlotte
The classic Hatteras yacht Game is back in the news after it broke its mooring line and ended aground in Charlotte Harbor, Charlotte County, Florida on Friday third May. Following this grounding the owner of Game is being charged for abandoning his yacht even though he recessed his title about a month ago following the incident with the US41 bridge, in Punta Gorda, Florida on third April. This is the third time Game ended aground in less to six months, with the yacht first ending aground in a Low Pressure storm which hit South West Florida on seventeen December, then it followed this with the fully news covered Punta Gorda bridge collision, and now this grounding in Charlotte. As of end May, Game was still aground, with a court hearing going up on the end of the month.
M/y Game is a first generation Hatteras 53 Motor Yacht as designed by Jack Hargrave and produced from 1969 to 1977. The 53 Motor Yacht was Hatteras flagship at launch, and one of its longest produced models, and including the second version which arrived in 1978 sold over 350 hulls in a nineteen years production up to 1988.
Project: ISA Yachts Unica 40M
ISA Yachts announces the sale and the start of costruction for the new 40-metre project Unica, a semi-displacement and full-aluminum superyacht with a draft of just over two meters. This super yacht fruit of the collaboration between the talented designer Enrico Gobbi of Team for Design and the famed technical department of Palumbo Superyachts, redefines the standards of excellence. ISA Unica 40M stands out right from its name that means unique specimen, without any equal in the international yachting industry. Based on the analysis of what the current market has to offer in terms of innovation, design, functional solutions and volume optimization, the project was developed creating its own unique trends. Among its main competitive advantages this super yacht can boast highly functional spaces or more generous volumes compared to other similar sized yachts. The length of the exterior decks and the large windows are just an example. The exterior design is fluid, with empty and full spaces chasing each other, creating a bonding and harmonious balance with the water. The lines flow towards both the bow and the stern, giving the profile a natural dynamism even in the presence of expansive superstructures. One of the objectives was to provide guests on board with a clear view of the surroundings, making the whole project look just as visually connected. The design is emphasized by a careful study of the lighting, which highlights the profiles and generates a glossy and welcoming atmosphere. The stern is a true haven of pleasure, it is distributed over three levels sloping towards the sea and has an attractive sunbathing area, a swimming pool and an infinity cockpit where the glass balustrade allows for an uninterrupted view. The interiors have been designed to guarantee maximum on-board comfort but above all to optimize every need. The owner’s area, located forward of the main deck, includes an office and a lounge with vanity, a double walk-in wardrobe and a bathroom with two sinks. In addition, there is a sliding door to separate the bed from the rest of the area so as to ensure maximum privacy. The large side windows are impressive and allow natural light to flood the cabin. Two are the lunch and dinner zones, a more formal one on the main deck and a second one with a round table on the upper deck cockpit. Both decks are also equipped with living and relaxation spaces. Another distinctive feature of the project is certainly the large bow surface on the upper deck which boasts a sunbathing area and a space for entertainment. The fly deck is incredibly spacious thanks to its almost sixteen meters length and it includes two sunbathing areas, one at stern and the other one at bow, a lounge with sofa and armchairs, a dining table, a bar with stools and a round Jacuzzi. Below deck there are four double guest suites, three of which are VIP with double beds and one guest with twin beds, all with private bathroom. Crew accommodation caters for seven members and the captain’s cabin located next to the pilot house. The propulsion system includes 2 MTU engines with 1920hp each, capable of propelling the vessel up to a maximum speed of twenty knots and enabling a cruising speed of fifteen, with a possible range over 4,000 nautical miles at a speed of twelve knots.

Super Yacht Ends Beached in Spetses
A 29 meter Posillipo super yacht titled m/y Why with Greek flag ended aground in the Dapias area of the island of Spetses, in the Greek Aegean islands on the late morning of Friday third May. Local news reported that the super yacht was trying to remove itself from the exposed North East looking pier which moors the yachts astern looking to the North West, after strong winds made it uncomfortable for the yacht in the last hours, only for it to end beached. With assistance coming from the Greek Coast Guard and Spetses mayor an operation was started on the same afternoon to remove Why from the beaching, although this was more complicated then anticipated because of the strong winds, and the yacht taking on water.
M/y Why is a 2005 Posillipo Technema 95 as designed by Carlo Galeazzi and produced from 2004 up to 2008 in sixteen units.
New Model: Pershing GTX80
The first Pershing GTX80, was launched on April three in the port of Fano. The yacht has the sporty spirit and generous living spaces typical of the Pershing GTX range. The new Pershing GTX80, about 24 meters long, is the phenomenal result of collaboration between the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari, design studio Vallicelli Design and the Group’s Engineering Department. The GTX80 is the first in 39 years of Pershing to feature a different design to that of Fulvio de Simoni, it will be interesting if with this new model Vallicelli will take design charge for the World famous and iconic Italian brand or if he will be responsible for the GTX series. The interiors and exteriors on board the GTX80 communicate seamlessly with each other, creating a unique space and a new dimension of comfort. The yacht has two decks, plus a sport-bridge, and can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests thanks to the new four-cabin layout. There is also a cabin with two beds for the crew. The exterior styling, in classic Pershing grey, features a number of innovative choices: designed without stanchions, it points up the near vertical bow and the continuous, slightly convex sheer-line. In the bow section, the bulwarks have been lightened by a longitudinal slot, while those in the stern have a dual function, both incorporating the winches and converting into lateral terraces that swing down. This is the first time a solution like this has been adopted on a Pershing model and the aim is to establish even closer contact with the water. One of the outdoor spaces that stands out most is the stern platform, which has three different positions, making it a versatile and extremely important feature of the boat. It can be left in the default position, raised using the dual linear lift so that it’s flush with the beach area, extending and integrating the aft living space in conjunction with the lateral terraces when open, and also used for launching tenders. The bright, airy spaces and extensive glazing on the main deck are a signature feature of this model. Immediately aft of the helm station, which is fitted with three 24-inch screens is a living area containing a generous corner sofa, a dining area. On this first hull this was made in a formal version with free standing furniture, and a fully integrated galley/bar in spaces directly overlooking the cockpit. This innovative design solution again underscores the focus on creating fluid, intercommunicating spaces. The black elements in the kitchen area create a slight contrast with the pale parquet and are color-coordinated with the metallic silver lacquered ceiling, which features multiple intersecting diagonal LED lights that diffuse light across the entire deck, from exterior to interior in a pared-down design that focuses on multiple angles. The sundeck is very spacious at 23 square meters, it’s 60% larger than the category average, while at the same time guaranteeing internal space of gran Turismo proportions. This effect is partly due to the sleekly dynamic arch-shaped deckhouse. The hard-top available for the sundeck, this first unit has one is made of carbon fiber to deliver the utmost in performance and aesthetic appearance. Equipped with three 1,000hp Volvo engines with IPS pod propulsion the Pershing GTX80 reaches a top speed of 34 knots and a cruise of 28.
