New Model: Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy

Sanlorenzo launch the much waited 44 Alloy in a perfect combination of craftsmanship, innovation, experience and passion.  The Italian motor and super yacht builder continues its unstoppable progress by demonstrating once again that nautical design is a creative, exciting and versatile world in continuous evolution, capable of generating unexpected proposals with the aim of offering the highest quality of life on board.  This is the idea behind the new Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy superyacht, a 44 meter long fast displacement model, entirely in aluminium, which thanks to its unprecedented layout and maximum indoor-outdoor takes the concept of livability to new heights. The owner’s cabin, the conceptual fulcrum of the project, is conceived as a private apartment of 145 square meters divided into three levels, with indoor and outdoor zones, in a solution never seen before on a super yacht of this size.  The 44 Alloy conserves the elegant, balanced style and fluid that have always set the brand apart, while offering surprising spaces for the owner as well as guests, such as the large beach club that opens on three sides, providing direct connection to the sea, while the fore-deck, with its open area, offers multiple possibilities of use.  The new 44 Alloy is a true conceptual update of the prize-winning 40 Alloy, the forty meter long aluminium super yacht famous in 2007 for introducing fold-out terraces in the owner’s zone, its gull-wing doors on the bridge, its remarkable performance and commercial success, with ten yachts build by the Liguria yacht builder.  A completely new concept and project developed by the Sanlorenzo team, relying on the creativity of the studio Zuccon International Project, with the personal contribution of Bernardo Zuccon, for the design of the external lines and the definition of the concept in a layout never seen before, which has no equals on the market for yachts of this size.  The interior design of the 44 Alloy has been formulated in the first unit under construction by Zuccon International Project, with the refined taste and delicate choices of Martina Zuccon. The second yacht has interiors by the Florence-based architect Michele Bonan, while the third unit will bear the signature of the French architecture firm Liaigre, reflecting the flexibility, eclecticism and internationalism of the Sanlorenzo shipyard.

Wellcraft Grounded in Malta

A Wellcraft sport cruiser of about eight meters in length finished aground on Saturday 5 July afternoon, after breaking free from its swing mooring in Qawra, on the island of Malta.  This resulted in the cruiser being carried by the strong winds and currents of about thirty knots, for about a nautical mile from its swing mooring berth in Qawra, and finishing aground in the Salina area.  The Wellcraft Excel sport cruiser stood in the scene for a few days, as its position made salvage operation rather difficult to make.
The Wellcraft in this accident is an Excel 26SE as produced from 1996 to the end of the nineties.

Project: Delta 21m

Newport-based MCM has been appointed as owner’s representative for a 21-metre express cruiser to be built by custom shipyard Delta Marine in Seattle. The Express Cruiser designed by Doug Zurn of Zurn Yacht Design for an experienced client will be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives with Dynamic Positioning System for a top speed up to 38 knots.  When going through the yard selection process, MCM looked at shipyards in the US, Europe and Australasia, but finally settled on Delta Marine as one of very few custom Superyacht yards left in the US. An added advantage was that Jack Jones, the company founder, had started out in the sixties as a composite builder of high-speed pleasure craft.  Yacht designer Doug Zurn in Massachusetts is well known for his classic New England style and the 21 meter traditional inspired down East express displays traditional exterior lines and an interior decor based on a contemporary take of raised and fielded mahogany wood joinery with white wainscoting details.  The classic styling, however, disguises a thoroughly modern and lightweight hull construction using infused epoxy, E-glass and Corecell/Airex for a displacement at half load of just over thirty tonnes. Comfort at anchor and under way are provided by Seakeeper gyro stabilisers and Humphree interceptors with active stabilization.  The owner will use his new yacht for cruising and fishing with family and friends, and to this end the aft deck has a modular design to fulfill both functions. Below deck there is accommodation for six guests in an ensuite owner’s cabin and two cabins with shared head.  The hull and deck tooling is currently underway at the shipyard and completion is envisaged for the second half of 2021.
