Sport Yacht Saved Near Lipari Island Faraglioni

An Italian flagged sport yacht of fifteen meters in length with four persons onboard was saved from sinking, after it hit a reef and started to take on water near the two Pietra Lunga and Pietra Menalda volcanic spines to the South West of the Eolian island of Lipari on the evening of eleventh August.  The sport yacht launched a may-day call after it started taking water, with the Guardia Costiera responding to this and saving the four boaters first, and then followed it with an operation to save the yacht from sinking. With the help of the Lipari Port Captaincy, the fifteen meter yacht was saved from sinking, and towed to Sottomonastero to the East of the Island and then crane lifted out of the water for repairs.
The sport yacht saved from this sinking is a Sarnico 50, a model produced from 2004 to a design by Nuvolari Lenard.  The Sarnico 50 was released as a model filler between the since 1995 produced 45 and the 2005 launched 60 model.

Riva lost to fire in Porto Cervo

A 21 meter Riva motor yacht was lost to fire in front of Porto Cervo on the evening of eleventh August, fortunately with no consequences to the eight passengers on-board.  The Riva Dolce Vita and the eight persons aboard; husband and wife, five kids and the yacht captain where having a day of relax in a bay located in close proximity to the famous Porto Cervo yacht marina.  The fire was noted when re-entry to harbor was being prepared and the main engines did not start.  A check in the engine room resulted in a fire already ablaze.  The eight passengers where saved by a nearby super yacht of thirty meters.  The fire could still be seen in the late evening around all the Orange Gulf area, that is until 2100 hours when the motor yacht then sank in fifty meters of deep sea water.
