Six Boaters Saved as Cruisers Yacht Goes Ablaze Near Ocean City, Maryland

Six boaters were rescued after a sixteen meters Cruisers sport yacht titled No Filter went ablaze about three nautical miles South of Ocean City, Maryland on the afternoon of Thursday twenty August 2020.  The yacht skipper launched a may-day call on channel sixteen, advising of an onboard fire, and that they were abandoning ship.  The boaters were rescued by the fishing vessel Smugglers Point arriving on the scene first, after overhearing the call and safely recovering all six individuals, as Coast Guard Station Ocean City responded to the call with the fourteen meter lifeboat.   After arriving the Coast Guard took five boaters onboard and back to shore, as the yacht's owner stayed behind waiting for a TowBoatU.S boat to start wreck recovery operation.  No one was injured from the fire.
The yacht in this fire is a Cruisers 5470 Express as produced from 2002 up to 2003.  When launched the 5470 Express was Cruisers largest yacht build to date, with the model replaced by the 540 Express.
