Project: C.Boat 18.70 mtr One

C.Boat is a Sicily island located Italian builder on the outskirts of the city Palermo, which started its venture a few years go with a concept mixing Italian flare, semi displacement hull shapes, and a steel construction.  The initial venture of C.Boat was so far above the 24 meters plus Super Yacht size, but now the builder presents an entry level project of just above eighteen meters in length, seventeen in waterline, six in beam dimensions called One.  Again the design as all the range is by architect Mortola and the new small One C.Boat will keep similar characteristics for a Mediterranean yacht of its larger sister with a stylish very elegant line complementing the customisable interior.  The standard plan of the 18.70 meter One is for a three double cabins layout, though fair to say customization is not an option, but part of the process when a new C.Boat is in build.

Project: Tarquin Trader 585 Sunliner

Showed in conjunction with the 48 Signature the Tarquin Trader 585 Sunliner will be the bridge which fills a gap in the current range of this builder. The initial renderings show the 585 Sunliner as traditional to the DNA of this British company, that is as an aft cabin motor yacht, with a very big boat feel to it.  This is further shown in the huge flybridge, very wide and safe side decks, and the tender stowage up top.  Live aboard features are standard in nearly all Trader models, so you definitely will have the same in the 585 Sunliner, which will be fourth in size model behind the 75, 70 Motoryacht, and 64 of the same range.  So far Trader has not shown any interior plans, and not even mentioned engine power.  But do accept a semi displacement hull as in nearly all Tarquin Trader models, minus the recently introduced 38 Sprint.

New Model: Steeler NG50

In recent years Dutch builders of medium sized craft have been getting high global interest. New Model: Jet Tern Selene 42 Eurodeck

Capitalizing on the same deep displacement hull as the standard 42, Selene in hull number 33 showed the new EuroDeck configuration.  The Selene 42 Eurodeck offers significantly more living space and fuel capacity than its popular sister ship, here having an increase of just a bit less to 20%. The 42 Eurodeck is also different inside with its layout having a more European flavoured staterooms forward layout, plus an increases in the size of the salon by nearly one-third. That is excluding that this has also a connection feeling with the aft deck when patio door is open. Along with more room in the salon, the 42 Eurodeck advances in cockpit and storage compartments.  Power is from a single Cummins 230hp which with the seaworthy displacement hull, and solid heavy construction giving eighteen tons plus of weight gives a cruise of about 9 knots.

Project: Azimut 55 S

A new Azimut project is always big news for the yachting community, mostly because of the advances this Italian builder brings to the design of the genre in general.  This Azimut 55 S project has been always an awaited project from my side may be since 2006, mostly because of the gap I always felt there was between the 43 and 62 of the sport series range from the known Italian yachting brand.  With the 55 S Azimut present a totally new innovative project.  What is a surprise here is that Azimut sort of returns to pod drives with this new project.  After the still in production 2005 presented 43 S, and loads of testing, research and design with the 50 and 55 flybridge models, and 62 S it was always felt that Azimut sort of distanced itself from pod drives, as none of these actually made it officially in the market.  Fast forward to now and the 55 S will be powered by triple Volvo 435hp, and IPS pods which will give a top speed of 35 knots.  On the design fronts the Azimut 55 S also breaks some molds from its predecessors we here see a near to axe bow which is in fact a more vertical steep but it gives that impression, and a forward looking settee on the fore deck, which apart traditional Gozzo, or explorer cruisers makes it the smaller yacht size to offer this.  Inside Azimut 55 S will offer the usual modern spaces coming from the Italian brand with a full beam owners stateroom, no bunk guest cabin, and queen sized berth VIP to fore.  Interesting is also the spaces offered on the main deck with a sofa which will be over seven meters in length.  Construction wise Azimut says a lot of innovation goes in to the 55 S structure, a bow reinforced with stainless steel, carbon components in all reinforcement areas plus a superstructure fully sandwiched in this material,  and crystal inserted windows which apart from being a design stance are also part of the structural integrity.  Construction of hull one is well underway, but official presentation for the new 55 S is expected in the fall of this year, think Cannes 2012.
