Engine: MAN i6 730hp

MAN presents its latest generation of six-cylinder engine designed to be used in yachts and trawlers up to seventeen meters in length, as well as in sport fishing boats. The basic six-cylinder engine has been tried and tested many hundreds of thousands of times in a wide range of on and off-road machinery since it was first introduced in 2007. Modified especially for the use in pleasure craft, the six-cylinder in-line engine 730hp i6-730 has a cylinder capacity of 12.4 l available for light duty operations. The future-proof i6-730 yacht engine is based on the D2676 model, also have a modern common rail system offering up to 1800 bar for high mean pressures and optimized combustion. This enables MAN engineers to achieve lower vibrations and noise emissions along with reduced fuel consumption. To ensure compliance with strict emissions legislation, MAN shares information and data on a regular basis with institutions including the US Environmental Protection Agency and the International Maritime Organization. The new yacht engine also offer the broad torque plateau that is characteristic for MAN marine engines generating 2450 Nm at between 1200 and 2100 rpm. This provides maximum torque over a broad engine speed range at the lowest specific fuel consumption, achieving consistent acceleration and a fast and efficient planing. MAN’s design engineers came up with an optional design cover for the six-cylinder engine, ensuring to fulfill the criteria of elegance and high performance. The sophisticated and timeless design of the perfectly shaped engine stays within the style of modern luxury yachts. For naval architects the new six-cylinder inline engines come in MAN’s typically compact 1800 x 922 x 1103 mm design and have an even more streamlined oil pan design. With a dry weight of 1200 kg, the new generation of engines also has an improved power to weight ratio. The the MAN marine diesel engines i6-730 is based on the D2676 and is set to replace the predecessor model R6-730 based on the D2876 in the medium term.

Project: Sunseeker 66 Manhattan

Following the success of the Manhattan 52 which has so far secured £30 million worth of retail sales since its introduction this autumn 2016, Sunseeker today unveils plans to launch the new Manhattan 66 at the London boat show in January.  This important new model signals Sunseeker’s intentions to maintain its strong position in this critical segment of the market, and underlines its commitment to producing an unrivaled portfolio of luxury performance motor yachts upwards of fifteen to fifty meters.  The Sunseeker 66 Manhattan is designed to maximize entertainment options with exceptional panoramic hull and saloon windows providing light-drenched living spaces throughout. Optionally, the galley can be specified below creating even more entertaining space in the main saloon. The newly configured flybridge also creates the feeling that you are on board a much larger craft and has been designed with both entertaining and relaxation in mind with extensive seating throughout, large sunbathing areas forward and a well-equipped wet-bar. The sociable layout continues through to the wide bathing platform capable of launching tenders short of four meters, and transom ‘beach club’ where an optional barbecue, fold-away bench seat and overhead rain- shower truly set the Manhattan 66 apart from its peers.   The twin berth crew cabin, with private access through the transom, enjoys a dedicated en suite and ample stowage.  Thanks to the galley being situated on the main deck, there is room enough for four very spacious cabins below including two large twin cabins, a forward VIP suite and standout full-beam master cabin with its own private stairway access from the saloon; a first for Sunseeker in this size range.  The Sunseeker 66 Manhattan is powered by twin Man 1000hp or optional 1200hp engines on shaft drives.  An other optional is for Volvo 900hp coupled to IPS1200 pod drives.  Estimated speeds are 25 knots of cruise and 34 knots at full throttle.
