The Dale Classic 45 is a special boat in the hearts of lovers for British made traditional down East inspired lobster cruisers. Currently the team at Dale are over the moon as they are building Classic 45 hull number twelve, for a model which debuted in 2003. With these numbers one understands that Dale is not your usual production builder and that every unit is made to order and very bespoke, by the lucky customer who ordered it. Designed by Arthur Mursell the 2024 Dale Classic 45 will feature some new styling and state of the art innovations. We still do not know all of these new features but Dale glimpsed us on the improved Classic 45; custom made console designed totally with owner input, aft wheel house patio door in teak with drop down bulkhead, and a new master suite dressing table with side lockers and drawers maximizing every available space. Current flagship of Dale six model line up, the Classic 45 offers a two cabins two heads interior with a forward master suite, and is powered by twin 450hp engines as standard, with options going for up to 600hp units. Propulsion is traditional straight line shaft with the standard engines giving up to 24 knots, and the optional 600s delivering thirty knots top speed to the semi-displacement hull form.

New Model: Dale Classic 37
The vision to build a new Dale classic styled model started to become more than just an idea back in early April 2020 when discussions and sketches between Mike and designer Arthur Mursell resulted in drawings flying back and for in earnest. At first the Classic 37 was named as Classic 36, with the project becoming larger and a gap filler in space and comfort between the Classic 35 and Classic 45 models. Enters the Dale Classic 37, which based on the hull shape of the 40, with the wider beam helping to give more accommodation to that of the 35, with a choice for a galley down one cabin layout, or galley up two cabins single head. The Dale Classic 37 is also very versatile for power fit out, coming with started twin 230hp engines for a semi-displacement ride up to eighteen knots, and or optional engines up to 440hp. Hull number one was fitted with the large engines option, putting a top speed just one knot shy of the declared magic thirty knots number.

Project: Dale Classic 36
Out of the new platform of the Dale 35, the British boat builder is presenting three platforms all inspired to traditional British pilot boat design. The Dale Classic 36 is the third and largest of these three models, and the most inspired and similar to the Classic 45 model. The Dale Classic 36 will feature as the two other models three lower deck arrangements, standard is for a single forward and galley down arrangement. The optional versions moves the galley to the wheelhouse and use the space to starboard for another second cabin, or a larger queen island berth cabin below. The new Dale 35/36 series can be powered by single Volvo 270hp or optional 400hp engine, and or twin 170hp or 270hp choices. All powers are stern drive propulsion.

Dale is renewing its popular Classic 35 model, a review which sees a whole new line of three models with a new bit larger 36 feet variant with two versions also becoming available. Watch this spot for more information on the 36. These new Dale medium sized models, take a look on the bigger models to make them more of a cruising traditional cruiser, then just a picnic day boat. The Dale Classic 35 will feature two interior layout options, one for a forward double or Vee berth, and a galley down or up option. No power details have yet been announced for this new Classic 35 version, but the current version is powered by single and or twin stern drive powered with a single 200hp diesel engine, as standard.

Project: Dale 40 Aft Cockpit
So after the positive reviews of the recently launched Dale 40 Aft Cabin by TT Design, the British builder and design firm follow it with a project for the Aft Cockpit version. Important changes between the two boats, from having one helm instead of two, and losing the spacious master aft cabin of the Aft Cabin version. Still you do gain a very sweet and conservative line with the 40 Aft Cockpit version which does never look old, and for this you get a spacious just above sea level aft cockpit entertainment area. The Dale 40 can be powered from twin 300 up to 600hp engines and reach top speeds up to 29 knots with the largest of engine options.

New Model: Dale 35 Classic
Dale presents the new 35 Classic, which truly perfectly illustrates the way of approaching a truly bespoke build as desired by its owner. The 35 Classic is a boat that started from a meeting between the British builder, owner and a blank sheet of paper! Everything from the keel up has been designed to suit his brief of a top performing day boat with accommodation for a tall family who wish to overnight occasionally. Finally completed hull one of the Dale 35 Classic shows the real meaning of the word semi-custom as every material, color, detail has been carefully matched to the owner’s requirements, whilst the very finest standards of hull construction, fit out and finish will of course left up to the Dale heritage.

Project: Dale 56 Classic
Since new ownership came along Dale has been very busy showing new projects, with a flare dedicated to the down East lobster boat. This Dale 56 so far shown in project design will be the new flagship of this respected builder, and takes a lot from the acclaimed exterior looks of the 45 and presenting them in a bigger package. A unique feature in this Dale versus the other smaller models will also be the location of a tender garage under the cockpit sole of the aft deck. So far Dale has not announced any layout plans but here it says the 56 Classic will be very open to customization. Engines and performance are also not announced but I do again imagine similar numbers to the 45 Classic with top speed figures starting at late twenty knots figures with the small engine choice up to mid thirties from the largest.

Project: Dale 41 Classic
Dale presents the project of the 41 Classic. Based on the famous semi planning hull, which features a lot of pilot boat, which are married with lines also coming a bit from a down East lobster looks. Dales says that the 41 will feature a Nelson hull. So far the British builder is passing very little details, but I do accept to see some features of the 2004 launched 45, which was a turn around model from this builder and has received much praise from the public and dedicated press.

Project: Dale D34
Dale from UK presents this very interesting project of the D34, which will also be featured in two other variants Nelson, and Classic to be shown here at a later stage. The D34 is the most traditional looking of the trio in the looks department, with Down East influence captivated by a certain British line to it. Hull shape will be a planning type, with the British building emphasising that it will bring its much 23 feet model experience and praise in this size. Accommodation will offer a convertible berth to fore, seperate shower head, and galley. The D34 will also be offered in an option of an enclosed, or open main deck pilot house choice. Power is a single from 150 to 370hp, or twin 150 up to 260hp with max speed estimates with bigger engine choice being of 35 knots.
