Sport Cruiser Saved From Grounding on Lake Champlain, Vermont

An eight meter sport cruiser was saved from further damage as it lost power near Cave Island, Malletts Bay, Colchester, on Lake Champlain, Vermont at about 22:00 of Wednesday eighteen June.  The boat was assisted by Colchester Police Department who then requested the help of Red Cap Marine and Salvage. The saving operation was successful, even though this was made in a difficult situation and winds of over twenty knots, save the sport cruiser from ending on the rocks, and sustaining hull damage with a possibility of sinking.  This story was shared on the Red Cap Marine and Salvage Facebook page, with the numbers of persons on the sport cruiser and the cause of losing power not being reported.
The sport cruiser in this accident is a Carver 528 Montego as produced from 1992 to 1993.  Initially called the 2557 Montego, the 528 Montego was a replacement to the 2657 Montego, and then evolving into the 280 Express with a bigger windshield.
