Pershing Yacht Trouble in Asinara Island

A 22 meter Pershing sport yacht with Italian flag ended damaging its running gear and cosmetic parts of its upper hull on the evening of twelfth July in the Asinara Island.  The Pershing sport yacht was enjoying the Asinara national park, Cala d'Oliva on a swing mooring when strong gusts of North East winds turned the evening ugly.  Eventually when the wind calmed the Pershing yacht was able to return to safety, in this case in the harbour of Bosa in the West part of Sardinia some fifty nautical miles away from the accident.
The damaged sport yacht is a Pershing 76, a model released by the famous boat builder in 2002 and produced till 2007.  Designed as all Pershing by Fulvio de Simoni the 76 offered a three or four double cabins interior with two crew cabins sleeping three or four persons. The Pershing 76 is powered by twin MTU 1850 or 2000hp engines coupled to Arneson surface drives which made it reach top speeds up to 48 knots and a cruise of forty.  Eventually the Pershing 76 was replaced by the 72 model in 2007.
