Project: ISA Yachts Extra X99 Fast

Extra Yachts, a brand of ISA Yachts and part of the Palumbo Group, is pleased to announce the project of the new Extra X99. Innovation and uniqueness are the key factors for the success of this line, which is now enriched with this new thirty meter project, which has already sold two units of the plan. Extra X99 stems from the know-how of Palumbo technical team and Guida Design who developed both exterior design and engineering. The interior is by Luca Dini. The cockpit, with its 65 square metres, together with a transformer on the deck, provides also a large sundeck, a living area with two large C-shaped sofas, a dual-mode dining table and bar counter to make the most of conviviality at the astern galley,  a distinctive feature of the Extra layout seen on the X76 and X86 models. In addition, two opening balconies have been integrated into this area. Other distinctive attributes of Extra X99 are the generously sized Jacuzzi located at the bow and the large fly bridge with a sizeable living area served by a table operated by an up-down mechanism and the sundeck. The integrated solar panels covering the ceiling of the hall generate green energy for utilities and lighting. The lower deck includes a VIP suite forward and two large double cabins with twin beds, all with private bathrooms. Amidships, the full beam master stateroom with bathroom, walk-in closet and sofa. Planning hull and superstructure in GRP with carbon reinforcements are combined with twin MTU 2600hp and hydro-jet propulsion pushing the X99 to a maximum speed of 34 knots. Delivery for hull one is scheduled in 2022.

Pardo Sport Cruiser Aground in Ibiza

A Pardo centre console sport cruiser of thirteen meters in length, ended aground in Ibiza on the night-morning of the 27-28th August.  The cause of the accident are unknown, but in the photo it looks to be a captain helmsman error during navigation. The Pardo thirteen meter was salvaged a day after in a yard in Ibiza with important damage to its IPS drives, possibly totalled, and not breaking but visible fiberglass damage to its deep-Vee keel.
The clean lined Pardo 43 designed by Zuccheri and launched in 2017 has been a huge success story from the start, with one hundred units being sold in less to a year since the launch of hull one.  The success was so huge that Pardo, who is famous and long standing with the Grand Soleil performance cruiser sailing yachts eventually launched a whole power line, today featuring five models.  The Pardo 43 offers a lower deck sleeping four, and a walk around deck usable from fore to aft with a centre console, and is powered by Volvo engines from 370 to 480hp with IPS pod propulsion.
Not known to many is that this is Cantieri del Pardo Grand Soleil second try in producing motor boats, with the Italian company entering this part of the market with the Hudson and Ricci brand from 1989 to 1996 and help from Jim Wynn and Walt Walters of Magnum Marine fame, who designed the 40 sold in 45 units, and the 1994 to 96 produced 54 sold in five.

Princess Sport Yacht Sinks in Cap de St. Tropez

A Princess sport yacht of about sixteen meters in length ended on the reef of Cap de St.Tropez on the morning of 28th August. The causes of the incident are unknown and not reported, as Cap de St. Tropez is fairly visible on the charts and during day light, though it seems that every couple of years someone ends up on it in one way or another.
The Princess in this accident looks to be a V53 produced from 2006 till 2009, or the V56 evolution with extended bathing platform produced 2010 to 2011.  Designed as all Princess since the mid eighties by Bernard Olesinski the V53/56 offered there double cabins, master stateroom forward and two head layout.  It also offered a very spacious main deck layout, which was one of the best in the category of open sport yachts in the sixteen to seventeen meter size of that era.  The V53/56 eventually evolved to the V57 in 2012 with a midships cabin and even a better main deck layout with patio door, featuring a double dinette, inside and outside, which was at the time among the smallest sport yacht offering this.

New Model: Overmarine Mangusta Oceano 50

The first unit of the Mangusta Oceano 50, a stately model among Mangusta Oceano long-range displacement vessels, was launched on Saturday 5 June. The Mangusta Oceano 50 is a displacement yacht with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. Her outer lines have been pencilled by Alberto Mancini, who worked side by side with the Shipyard's Engineering Department to make the most of and optimise the vessel's exterior and interior spaces while still falling within 500GT. Naval architecture has been taken care of by engineer Ausonio’s design firm P.L.A.N.A. Design. The final outcome is an exquisite combination of advanced technological solutions that go hand in hand with innovative design. On all Mangusta yachts, the leitmotiv is always the perfect balance between the exteriors and interiors, allowing the Owner and his guests to choose from many private and convivial areas and spend the holidays the way they have always dreamt of. Indeed, the Mangusta Oceano 50 offers her guests a number of pleasant outdoor areas, the most striking one being probably the beach area: featuring a sauna too, it develops over three connected terraces just above the water, for a close contact with the sea. Integrating the garage in the forward deck plane has resulted in optimised onboard spaces and brought the overall beach club area to an impressive 68 square meters, allowing this 50 m vessel to offer her guests the comfort and features normally found on much larger yachts. On the main deck, the aft cockpit reminds of the living room of a villa; the aft door opens up fully, creating a harmonious continuum with the salon and letting air and natural light flood the entire area, an effect that is further magnified by the two large side sliding doors. The bow area features revolutionary, cutting-edge technological solutions: the airy and stylish cockpit is located above the garage, which, once the tender has been launched, can be filled with water to obtain a real depth swimming pool with counter flow system. Another Jacuzzi pool can be found on the sun deck, offering a breath-taking sea view. This area is completed by a comfortable, fully-equipped relaxation area and a dining table seating up to 12 people, sheltered by a full-width hard top. Stepping indoors, this vessel has a five cabin layout on the lower deck, with four guest cabins and a full-beam gym, as required by the Owner. The spacious master stateroom is located on the main deck and is fitted with an exclusive fully-automated balcony overlooking the sea. Two MTU 1700hp engines will push this yacht to a maximum speed of 16 knots, but will also allow her to reach an impressive transoceanic range of 4,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 11 knots. Zero Speed electric stabilizers will ensure unmatched comfort both when cruising and at anchor. The Mangusta Oceano line has been conceived to offer Owners an exclusive onboard experience, enabling them to enjoy life at sea surrounded by beauty, elegance, and exclusive comfort no matter the destination they choose to explore. Two more Oceano 50 are currently under construction, with unit number 3 “Project Salerno” expected to be ready for delivery in spring 2023.

Flybridge Cruiser Gets Knocked Off Its Stacks

A Fed Express van backed and collided with a dry stacked ten meter Bayliner flybridge motor cruiser on the morning of 27 August in a boat yard in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Thankfully this accident had minor consequences as the flybridge cruiser rear stacks just managed to hold the boat.  This could have been a much worse scenario if the collision would have been just a bit stronger and the boat dropping off its stacks and then hitting other boats creating a domino affect.  The Bayliner boat damage received a couple minor fiberglass cuts at the bottom of the hull with the collision.
The Bayliner in this accident is a 3258 Avanti Flybridge model produced from 1995 to 2000.  The Bayliner 3258 Avanti Flybridge offered a lower deck sleeping four with a single head, and was standard powered by twin Mercruisers 250hp and optional 310hp gas engines with sterndrive.

Project: Prestige X60

Prestige strike second model for the X-series presenting the project for the X60.  Voluminous living spaces, natural light, easy flow of movement on board: these core concepts have guided the design process for the new X60.  Designed as all the Prestige line by Garroni her architectural statement, redistributed space, multiple zones for relaxation, and exceptional level of comfort on board make the X60 the little sister of the X70, flagship of the line.  The X60 is based on the hull line of the 590 model, and she features an asymmetric layout on the main deck with a side deck to port side and being wide body to starboard.  The X60 will offer a three double cabin interior, with a choice for a third en-suite bathroom serving the third cabin.  The Prestige X60 is to be powered by twin Cummins 600hp with a choice of line shaft or ZF Zeus pod propulsion.  Top speed is an estimated 25 knots max with a 20 knots cruise.

Classic Baglietto Goes on Fire in Varazze

A classic Baglietto motor yacht of eighteen meters in length went on fire while on its berth at Marina di Varazze in West Liguria on the late afternoon of 26 August.  The Savona Coast Guard was immediately active to control the fire with the cp863 fire fighting boat, which it did in a timely manner.  Following the accident, a report stated that no injuries to persons happened, zero pollution, and no damage to neighbour boats or third parties occurred.  The Baglietto motor yacht was the day after dry-docked in a boat yard, and set under investigative arrest.  Externally the yacht showed little damage and this shows how much slower wood burns compared to fiberglass.
The Baglietto classic motor yacht in this accident is a 1975 build 18 M2.  The second generation 18 M2 was introduced in 1973 recognizable from the 1966 launched first generation by its straighter lines and coach roof.  The 18 M2 offered accommodation of three double cabins, plus a three berth crew cabin forward.  Weighing at over 32 tons the Baglietto 18 M2 was powered by twin GM 655hp giving her top speeds up to 27 knots.
Introduced in 1966 with the first generation 18 M and 14 M, the Baglietto M series changed how the Italian motor yacht looked, the line featuring five models from fourteen to the 20 M and will sell a total of 196 units, 72 units for the 20 M model alone.  In the mid eighties Baglietto presented the fiberglass 16.50 M2, with little success and the moulds selling to Falcon Yachts and used for its first model.

New Model: X-Power 33C

With more than forty years of experience in performance sailing boats, X-Yachts by surprise enter into powerboat with the X-Power 33C.  A classic design inspired with minimal touches sport cruiser, the X-Power 33C was presented as a project in 2019 and after some serious testing in the Danish sea launched in the early part of 2021.  For its ten meter size the 33C offers interesting spaces outside, and an interior sleeping two in a spacious V-berth forward.  The X-Power 33C is powered by a Yanmar 320hp up to 370hp single engine. The 33C will use a patented Petestep hull; a vee shape hull which from the rendering on the official website features different triangle designed spray rails with the last of these forming a step.  The X-Power 33C looks a very well thought out seaworthy sport cruiser, yet its a let down that in all this is only available with a single engine and a CE C design category, meaning only thought out for coastal cruising.  As the X-Power range goes a hard top cabin version of the X33 is currently under build set to launch in 2022, while a bigger over twelve meters in size larger model is set for 2023.

Ferretti Motor Yacht Burns Down Near Civitavecchia

A Ferretti motor yacht of 22 meters in length burned down to the North of Civitavecchia in the Central Tirrenian sea on the 25th August around 1400 hours.  Departing Civitavecchia with thirteen persons onboard the Ferretti motor yacht was navigating to the North direction Porto Ercole, when a fire starting coming out from the engine room.  The persons onboard the Ferretti rescued themselves onboard the tender, none of them reporting any injuries, with the Coast Guard and Civitavecchia fire fighting squad coming out to extinguish the fire and save the yacht.  While succeeding in putting out the fire, the yacht eventually sank and was not saved.
The Ferretti in this fire is a 72 model produced from 1998 to 2002.  Designed by Giovanni Zuccon the Ferretti 72 offered a four double cabin interior, with two crew cabins, and was powered by Man 1200hp up to Cat 1350hp engines reaching max speed up to 34 knots and a cruise of 28.  The Ferretti 72 is an evolution of the 70 launched in the fall of 96, with the differences in the 72 being; the all around bulwark, a fatter lower radar arch, and a second side door to starboard.  In the 70 the bulwark gets low and integrates into the hull at the bow.
The 70 at the time of launch was the second largest Ferretti model, presented as project 210 in October 1995, as from 1992 to 1996 Ferretti named its yachts around meters. With the 210 project Zuccon introduced the curved windows in the Ferretti line up, and in the 70 also the sloop stern.  The original 210 project had a square stern design, this changing to the sloop one when the model launched as 70 in the fall of 96.  Both these changes proved important to all following Ferretti models, with the 210/70 actually starting the Ferretti curved third generation evolution.  The 72 was replaced by the 730 in 2003.

Project: Astondoa AS5

A single berth crew cabin is located aft. The AS5 is also offered with hard-top as pictured above and or without for those who like a sleeker profile.  The Astondoa AS5 is standard powered by twin Volvo 725hp with line shaft propulsion.  Engine options are for the same Volvo engines with IPS pod drives or Man's 800hp.
