Project: Sanlorenzo SD118

Despite all circumstances 2020 was very active for Sanlorenzo with three new models launched, and now the famous yacht builder is looking forward, presenting the project of the SD118.  A 35 meter three deck super yacht, the Sanlorenzo SD118 comes from the design of Bernardo and Martina Zuccon, while interiors will be styled by Patricia Urquiola.  For the SD118 Zuccon came with a balanced project, of classic lines in a semi wide body asymmetric design, with modern elements which expand designated entertaining areas.  After presenting the asymmetric feature with the SL line in 2019, the SD118 is the first Semi-Displacement model with this feature for this line which launched in 2007.  The SD118 asymmetries involve the starboard side of the top deck, with the port side of this area having a pathway deck which takes you from stern to bow.  The SD118 will also have transforming features from the stern area which opens to become a beach club, a balcony which opens a terrace to starboard of the main deck, and another balcony opening to port side of the main deck.  The Sanlorenzo SD118 will offer a five double cabins interior, with an owners stateroom located on the forward part of the main deck.  Sanlorenzo SD118 is standard powered by twin MTU 1380hp, with an option for twin Cats 1622hp.  Estimated speeds are for a maximum of nineteen knots and a cruise of eleven knots with the optional larger Cat engines.  Hull one is set to launch in mid 2021 with four Sanlorenzo SD118 reported to have already been sold on plan.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SX112

During the 2020 Genoa boat Sanlorenzo presented the new SX112.  With 34 meters of length, SX112 is the new flagship of the innovative SX crossover line, the first in the world of yachting, launched in 2017 by Sanlorenzo and result of the synthesis between the classic motor yacht with flying bridge and the Explorer type. An “intelligent” proposal where style, flexibility and functional quality come together in a shared language.  SX112 represents the consolidation of a path that began with the SX88, first, and then the SX76, a challenge that continues and is enhanced by new contents, proposing a new way of living on the sea: the barriers on board are eliminated, and the boat opens to the outside, in a close relationship with the marine context.  The design of the new model has been assigned, for the external lines, to the creativity of Bernardo Zuccon, of Studio Zuccon International Project, who has concentrated on reinforcing the “family feeling” of the range, bringing out certain linguistic choices such as the balance of the volumes and the fluid forms, and to Piero Lissoni, art director of the company since 2018, for the interiors of the first unit, who has focused on the subdivision of the internal spaces, in constant dialogue with their outdoor counterparts.  In line with the concept developed for the other models, the main deck has been organized as an open space, to maximize the relationship with outdoor spaces.  The focal point of the project is the new stern zone, which undoubtedly represents the most iconic area of the yacht, a choice that generates new suggestions and habitat perspectives based on an idea of the architect Luca Santella, creator of the concept of the innovative SX crossover line. A refinement and evolution of the design of SX88, the new model offers a spacious beach area of about 90 sqm, expandable thanks to folding terraces, composed of an internal zone with fitness area directly connected to the outside by means of large sliding glass doors that permit the owners to utilize the spaces in an unprecedented way, maximizing the indoor-outdoor relationship.

New Model: Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy

Sanlorenzo launch the much waited 44 Alloy in a perfect combination of craftsmanship, innovation, experience and passion.  The Italian motor and super yacht builder continues its unstoppable progress by demonstrating once again that nautical design is a creative, exciting and versatile world in continuous evolution, capable of generating unexpected proposals with the aim of offering the highest quality of life on board.  This is the idea behind the new Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy superyacht, a 44 meter long fast displacement model, entirely in aluminium, which thanks to its unprecedented layout and maximum indoor-outdoor takes the concept of livability to new heights. The owner’s cabin, the conceptual fulcrum of the project, is conceived as a private apartment of 145 square meters divided into three levels, with indoor and outdoor zones, in a solution never seen before on a super yacht of this size.  The 44 Alloy conserves the elegant, balanced style and fluid that have always set the brand apart, while offering surprising spaces for the owner as well as guests, such as the large beach club that opens on three sides, providing direct connection to the sea, while the fore-deck, with its open area, offers multiple possibilities of use.  The new 44 Alloy is a true conceptual update of the prize-winning 40 Alloy, the forty meter long aluminium super yacht famous in 2007 for introducing fold-out terraces in the owner’s zone, its gull-wing doors on the bridge, its remarkable performance and commercial success, with ten yachts build by the Liguria yacht builder.  A completely new concept and project developed by the Sanlorenzo team, relying on the creativity of the studio Zuccon International Project, with the personal contribution of Bernardo Zuccon, for the design of the external lines and the definition of the concept in a layout never seen before, which has no equals on the market for yachts of this size.  The interior design of the 44 Alloy has been formulated in the first unit under construction by Zuccon International Project, with the refined taste and delicate choices of Martina Zuccon. The second yacht has interiors by the Florence-based architect Michele Bonan, while the third unit will bear the signature of the French architecture firm Liaigre, reflecting the flexibility, eclecticism and internationalism of the Sanlorenzo shipyard.

Project: Sanlorenzo SX112

Sanlorenzo continues to present novelties and here the renowned semi-custom and custom yacht and super yacht builder present the project for the SX112.  With 34 meters of length, the SX112 is the flagship of the SX crossover line which launched in 2017 with the 88, and proposes a new way of living on the sea: with barriers on board being eliminated, and the yacht opening to the outside, in a close relationship with the marine context.  The project design has again been assigned to the creativity of Bernardo Zuccon of Studio Zuccon International Project, for the external lines, and Piero Lissoni, art director of the company since 2018, for the interiors.  The focal point of the project is the new stern zone which undoubtedly represents the yacht’s most iconic area. Conceived as a spacious internal beach area, it is directly connected to the outside, allowing the yachtsman to enjoy these spaces in a novel way.  The Sanlorenzo SX112 is to be powered by quadruple Volvo 1000hp with forward looking IPS pod drives with top speeds estimated up to 22 knots. Hull one of the SX112 is nearly completed and should launch in early Summer 2020 for World presentation in the fall 2020 boat shows.

Project: Sanlorenzo 38Espace

Sanlorenzo seem to propose a new range with this project called 38Espace.  At 38 meters and with three and a half decks, the 38Espace was announced during the Monaco yacht show 2019.  So far everything is under wraps for exception of the above picture.  We do not know the designers of this project, and not any technical details.  The 38Espace seem also to feature a tug work boat look, and indicates that will feature a bulbous shaped hull.  Sanlorenzo already proposes a work boat inspired line, with the Explorer line which offers two 460Exp and 500Exp models.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SD96

During the Cannes boat show 2019 Sanlorenzo debuted the SD96 model, a new entry level which has proved so much of a success of the famous Italian name since itt debuted the range with the SD92 back in 2007.  The SD96 sees Sanlorenzo continue the switch to Zuccon taking care of designing all the models, a collaboration which started with the SX76 a few years back. For the SD96 Zuccon brings a fresh design approach to the exterior, with a style taking cues from classic Italian super yachts of similar size, form and function.  The SD96 offers three deck with a semi wide body design which integrates seamlessly with the center upward shear line.  The semi-wide body adds space forward of the main deck where in the SD96 is a choice to have a master cabin or a larger more spacious saloon in the four cabins versions. The Sanloenzo SD96 is powered by Cat 1150hp engines or optional 1380hp units, these last engines allowing for speeds up to twenty knots.

Project: Sanlorenzo SL96 Asymetric

Sanlorenzo present the project for the SL96 Asymmetric with exteriors and layout designed by Bernardo Zuccon, and interiors by Laura Sessa. The design consolidates the direction taken in 2018 with the presentation of the SL102 Asymmetric, which the company calls the world’s first asymmetrical yacht, and showcases Sanlorenzo's ability to work with the concept of space, reinterpreting it from alternative perspectives and exploring different ways to exploit it. SL96 Asymmetric is born of this approach, with a side deck on the starboard side, but not the port, because it has been moved up to the roof of the superstructure in order to free up a large surface area for the interiors and offer more space, light, relaxation and flexibility of use.  The concept of asymmetry springs from a meeting of different minds and creative approaches. Car designer Chris Bangle’s brilliant original idea has been developed by Bernardo Zuccon with the shipyard’s engineers and designers.  Possibly in this kind of design of present modern Italian motor yacht the SL102 Asymmetric is the first of its kind, but certainly this concept has been used in the past by other American and Asian build motor yachts.  Still Sanlorenzo gives it a new spin thanks to a lower bulkhead which increases light and views to the dining area.

Project: Sanlorenzo SD96

Sanlorenzo present the project for a new SD96 with exteriors designed by Bernardo Zuccon and interiors by Patricia Urquiola.  The SD96 is the new entry level replacing the stopped in production and successful SD92 which launched in 2007 and was the first model in the SD line of semi displacement small ship inspired super yachts by Sanlorenzo.  The SD96 project takes inspiration from transatlantic liners of the 1930s, giving it a unique elegance even compared to the previous SD models.  Bernardo Zuccon describes the project, as a crossroad of tradition and futuristic elements.  This description fits the bill perfectly with the central sweeping shear-line, the upright bow, and central mast for the radar and navigation equipment advocating tradition.  On the other hand we see  modern elements in the SD96 as the enclosed raised pilot house, and the sweeping stern.

New Model: Sanlorenzo 64Steel

Sanlorenzo launched its prestigious and imposing flagship; the 64Steel a roomy, spacious, super yacht that offers a prestigious level of on-board social life that has never been seen before in 1600 tons. At 64 meters of length, five decks and an internal maximum beam of 12.5 meters, 64Steel name M/Y Attila buy its owner is the largest yacht that Sanlorenzo has produced so far. The Italian shipyard introduced an innovative layout with elegant exterior lines and structures which maximize on-board livability. The Main Deck at the stern and the Beach Club on the Lower Deck surely represent the most distinctive areas of the project. A strong hallmark of design and layout is the double stairway that connects the pool and dining area to the Beach Club equipped with a sauna, hammam, massage room, and gym, right at the waterline. With the bow mirror and the side platforms open, the Beach Club covers an area of 78 square meters. The indisputable Flagship of Sanlorenzo’s superyachts “Steel” line with a fast displacement hull, offers various stylistic features that distinguish the prototype design from other super yachts of the same size: the ability to reserve an entire deck to the ship owner, the Owner Deck, which includes the bedroom facing the bow, which has a large whirlpool bath on the outside; the ability to load two big tenders of over ten meters in length which can also be limousine tenders, thanks to the garage’s height, as found in yachts over eighty meters long.  Other unique features for Sanlorenzo new 64Steel are the touch and go helipad, at the bow, which can be turned into an extraordinary solarium when not in use.  The Sanlorenzo 64Steel platform was designed to be extended from 64 to 70 meters to satisfy varying requests, a new Sanlorenzo flagship but not for very long.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SX76

Sanloenzo continues to push its synthesis between the motor yacht and a modern explorer type ship, and expands its 2017 launched SX line with the second SX76 model.  Presented as the SX72 project in early 2018, the SX was during project stages expanded to become the 76 model.  Designed by Bernardo Zuccon the SX76 has sold eight hulls up until the Cannes 2018 boat show, showing a continued success from the SX88 which since its 2017 World preview has sold thirteen units, three of which delivered.  Hull one of the Sanlorenzo SX76 featured special interiors by Pierre Lissoni.  But do not be mistaken the Sanlorenzo SX76 which currently is the entry level smallest yacht on offer from the Viareggio La Spezia boat builder, has standard more conservative versions.  Indeed as any Sanlorenzo the SX76 is a fully semi-custom product and this is shown with the various layout choices offered; two for the flybridge deck, three for the main deck, two for the lower deck, and other couple of details for the owners midships master cabin and the dinette on the main deck.  The SX76 brings exciting times for a customer looking for a semi-displacement modern type explorer yacht, and competes with the likes of the Magellano 76, and Absolute 73 Navetta, with the offer from Sanlorenzo offering that extra step up for luxury, quality, and customer choice.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SL102 Asymmetric

An innovative move by Sanlorenzo who with the SL102 presents what the builder calls the first asymmetrical yacht.  The SL102 is a design of Bernardo Zuccon, to a concept by famed car designer Chis Bangle, the head designer of BMW and the man behind such revolutions from the German automaker as the Five series, the Mini, and the recent Rolls-Royce.  With Chris Bangle intuition and Bernardo Zuccon ability the Sanlorenzo SL102 Asymmetric will have only side one deck located to starboard, and thus gaining ten extra square meters for the interior along with spectacular uninterrupted views from inside to outside on the port side.  The Sanlorenzo SL102 is from a certain point of view a revolution, though from another it is again an evolution of the wide body concept.  At this stage the market response to the Sanlorenzo SL102 will all be very interesting for them and for the others to see.

New Model: Sanlorenzo 500Exp

In the magnificent background of Elite Days 2018, a week-end of celebrations for the 60th anniversary of Sanlorenzo, among the world leaders for the production of yachts and superyachts, the first unit of 500Exp has been launched with a Buddhist ceremony, in full respect for the traditions of the young Chinese shipowner.  Evolution of the 460Exp, it represents a perfect testimony to the predisposition for personalization that has always characterized Sanlorenzo.  Developed in close contact with the owner, the new 500Exp makes it possible to have a longer stern area, thus meeting a specific request of the client to provide a landing area for helicopters, without losing the configuration of a superyacht Explorer, ensuring the most authentic sense of adventure on the open sea, thanks also to the many “toys” in the equipment.  In its 47 metres and 500 tons, the 500Exp revolutionizes the concept of expedition boat, proposing itself as a luxury superyacht for trips to exotic and distant destination: as a matter of fact, the superyacht is ready to take a long journey around the world, in the spirit of leisure and comfort, without giving up on that touch of design and elegance, of which Sanlorenzo has made its atout in the last years.  Working on the concept of space, combining experience and innovation with a unique design approach, Sanlorenzo thus demonstrates once again its ability to revolutionize the way on living on board.

Project: Sanlorenzo SL102

Sanlorenzo present the project for the new SL 102.  Designed by Zuccon with  Chris Bangle of BMW car design fame as technical director the SL 102 is a significant new project model because of a distinctive semi wide body main deck design.  The SL 102 is also the first Sanlorenzo on which Zuccon studio has officially worked, and represents the reinterpretation to renew the shipyard’s storied planning super yacht range. The research of Chris Bangle provides the new SL 102, a super yacht that will have an innovative asymmetrical layout, where the spaces and flows of life on board will be re-defined from a different perspective. Asymmetrical in the sense that the SL 102 will feature a semi wide body design to one side, the port-side area of the main deck being fully wide body used to maximize interior space.  The SL 102 will also feature various different points of view, functional settings and opportunities to perceive the sea from new and dynamic perspectives, which change constantly as you move around on board.  The SL 102 will feature a couple of different layouts with the standard offering an owners stateroom on the main deck, and four guest cabins on the lower deck.  The Sanlorenzo SL 102 is to be powered by twin MTU 1700hp or 1900hp with speeds up to a max 29 knots with the large engines.  Sanlorenzo has plans to present other models in a similar theme with news for a 92 and a 112 in the works.

Project: Sanlorenzo SX72

After the extraordinary success gained from the SX88 at the 2017 edition of the Cannes, Genoa, Dusseldorf and Miami Boats Shows, as evidenced by the sale of 13 units to date, of which three have already been launched, Sanlorenzo, on the occasion of its 60th anniversary, has unveiled a preview of the new born of its product range: the new SX72 crossover yacht.  The concept behind the project starts once again from the company's desire to propose a completely innovative approach to on-board space, an approach by which the Zuccon studio, for the exterior lines, and Piero Lissoni, as pertains to the interior design but also as the art director of the company, have interpreted the first version of the SX72, which will be officially presented at Cannes Yachting Festival 2018.  A happy and intelligent synthesis between the classic motor yacht with flying bridge, and the recent and growing explorer model, the SX72 incorporates the total family feeling of the SX line, keeping all the style features of SX88.  Such as the availability of large open spaces and windows that ensure an effective and optimal interior and exterior communication.  The SX72 will also feature the wheelhouse located only on the fly, maintains free the living room area at the bow on the main deck, which can therefore be dedicated to the dining room adjacent to the kitchen or becoming a single open environment which houses as a continuous living area, the living room, dining room and open kitchen.  The bow area of the main deck is fully equipped to offer a livable, convivial, and relaxing area with a large sunbed, convertible into a very private and shaded dining area with awning.  The swimming platform at the stern which, once freed from the tender, becomes an extraordinary beach club of over 18 square meters.

Giovanni Jannetti left for the better World in 31st January 2018 at the age of 87 years at Versilia Hospital in Viareggio.  Born in 1930 Giovanni Jannetti originally from Abruzzo, becomes a Viareggio resident and an important name for motor yachting and the Italian pleasure boating industry when in 1972 he takes over Sanlorenzo of Viareggio, founded by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia in 1958.  As soon as Jannetti takes over Sanlorenzo he starts to renew the line and expands its size up to 22 meters.  In 1985 Jannetti makes an important change for Sanlorenzo with the first 57 build in fiberglass, which will start a transition to switch all the models in this building method, and in 1988 launches the first 80, which will mark the builders entry into super yachts.  In 1999 Jannetti moves Sanlorenzo to Ameglia near La Spezia, in order to improve production and expand size.  In 14 April 2005 Giovanni Jannetti sells Sanlorenzo to Massimo Perotti, marking his retirement.  A conservative type, Sanlorenzo under Jannetti was a build to order yacht builder building about ten to twenty yachts a year most of which on client's request, speculation builds where rarely made.  Giovanni Jannetti was a yachting entrepreneur of the old style remembered as a gentleman of the Italian pleasure boating industry.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SX88

The new Sanlorezo SX88 has been one of the most awaited projects for the year 2017.  The wait was due for many factors, important was the promotion Sanlorenzo created for the SX88, but another reason which got many people excited was seeing something completely new and out of the box design for the famous yet usually conservative Ligurian yacht and super yacht builder.  Truth be told, that since Massimo Perotti took over in 2005 we have seen Sanlorenzo go into other different segments see SD and Exp line, but this new SX88 is surely something very new even in respect to the other lines.  For the SX88 Sanlorenzo entrusted the help of many known designers; Officina Italiana exterior, Lou Codega for hull shape, and interiors by Piero Lissoni.  The SX88 will feature a helm only on the flybridge deck, and there is a choice for four or five guest cabins layout, with an owners stateroom located to midships or on the main deck option. Three different deck layouts are available from Sanlorenzo without moving any structure areas of the super yacht.  The helm station on the flybridge can be fully window closed and air-conditioned.  The stern area is a lowered spacious open space and can be used for tender stowage or a free beach area.  Power for the Sanlorenzo SX88 is from Volvo 800hp engines with IPS pod drives propulsion, this being another first for the Italian boat builder.  Commercial success has gone beyond expectations with the Sanlorenzo SX88 selling nine units before its official boat show debut in Cannes a week ago.

Sanlorenzo outdone itself for the project launch of the SX88, with a social media marketing campaign giving hints of this new line starting in March 2017, confirmed by a press conference in Milan on 25 May. Sanlorenzo SX88 is a new cross-over type Super yacht design merging explorer and motor yacht styles coming from the hands of Mauro Micheli and Sergio Berretta of Officina Italiana design.  SX indeed means sport explorer.  Interiors for the SX88 are from Piero Lissoni and three different layouts will be available without moving any structural elements for this pocket size super yacht. Not much details are so far available on the interior, what we know is that the SX88 is available without an internal wheelhouse, and owners stateroom can be located on the main deck or at midships. The SX88 is to be launched in coming mid Summer and a further SX72 in 2018 and an SX104 in 2019 models will follow.  The Sanlorenzo SX88 had a test tanking done in Holland, with its hull reaching speeds up to 23 knots.  Engine and propulsion details are not advised by Sanlorenzo but the Viareggio Spezia builder said that this will be done in cooperation with Volvo.
