New Model: Baglietto MV19

Baglietto launched the MV19 named M/Y Ridoc on Saturday June tenth in a ceremony attended by the owner and his friends. Fully custom build MV19 is one of the most original sport yacht designs not only from the Italian Baglietto and Francesco Paszkowski but in the World of yachting.  At 19.50 meters in length MV19 represents the natural evolution of the MV13 both in terms of the exterior lines and the interiors. The Baglietto technical office is responsible for the hull, plant and propulsion designs. The MV series draws its inspiration from the First and Second World War MAS, torpedo armed boats, which Baglietto built in that period as commissioned by the Italian government of the time and is part of the history of the Liguria-based brand.  So in simple words who better to reinterpret the peculiar MAS features and shapes in a modern style, matching them with architectural elements adapted to an open sport yacht, then someone who build them himself in that period. MV19 hull one features a metallic dark grey color which enhances the aggressive lines of the boat giving her a look of strength and power. The interior design, created in cooperation with architect Margherita Casprini, focuses on exploration of materials and finishes to combine a retro allure with contemporary comfort demands. Also, the most up-dated audio-visual systems with satellite TV are included on board: a feature which is unusual in boat of this size. The upholstery is in Canaletto nut together with white lacquered walls while all the floors are in dark oak. The result is a beautifully accessorized boat that still has a powerfully decisive character consistent with the sporty look of the exterior. The layout of the first MV19 presents the master cabin forward and two guests cabins with ensuite bathroom amidships. In between is a spacious open dinette with comfortable sofas and a fully equipped galley. According to following the owner wishes, a crew cabin for the captain with direct access from the exterior has been included. Outside the Baglietto MV19 offers a helm station to starboard, with behind it is a comfortable dinette with wet bar, while aft and on the fore deck are two large sun pad areas. The deep V-shaped keel along with aluminium construction allow the MV19 high performances and superb sea keeping as well as perfect maneuverability, which to be fair are typical trademarks of Baglietto. Powered by twin Man 1800hp engines Baglietto MV19 reaches a maximum speed of forty knots. After the summer cruising Baglietto MV19 will be presented worldwide at the upcoming 2017 Cannes boat show in early mid September.

Sam Newington 1935 - 2017

Sam Newington the man who made Fairline become one of Britain's most iconic boat builders died peacefully at home, on 20th June 2017, at the age of 82 surrounded by his family. Sam was a husband, a father, a grandfather, an entrepreneur, a fighter pilot, an intrepid navigator, a keen amateur historian, a wonderful present giver and unfailingly generous to family and friends.  Sam Newington managed Fairline, the company his father Jack Newington founded in 1963, from 1971 till 1996. Since taking over Fairline, Sam took the Oundle based firm to new heights first by working with naval architect John Bennett who will design its most ever sold models, the 23 Holiday and 32 Phantom, both selling 600 plus units in a twelve and thirteen year production run respectively.  In the eighties San Newington gave Fairline the next step by handing over design to Bernard Olesinski, first model being the 36 Turbo.  Another Sam Newington clever intuition and one which came from influence with holidays on the French Riviera aboard the 26 Sun Fury, was the Targa series creation in 1984, with the 33 Targa which will sell 350 plus units in a seven year production run till 1991. This will be followed by that of the Squadron series launched in 1990 with the then flagship 62 model.  Both Targa and Squadron series are today an important back bone of the Fairline name.  Sam Newington had a very hands on approach on managing Fairline having owned eighteen of his vessels, and always getting very deeply involved in the design practicality aspect of each model, and also by testing and cruising many hull number one himself in the South of France and the Mediterranean sea.  Under Sam Newington Fairline will win Queen's Award for Enterprise and International Trade in 1986.  After 26 years Sam Newington will sell Fairline in 1996 to South African businessman Graham Beck who at the time also owned Princess yachts.

Project: Raffaelli 50 Compass Rose Evo

Raffaelli updates one of its most successful models of the past 2000 to 2010 decade, the 50 Compass Rose presenting the project for a new Evo version currently under construction in Pesaro, on the Adriatic coast of Italy.  The project for the 50 Compass Rose Evo is designed by Antonello Lucio Pontevolpe from Classyacht Design Studio, already a designer of three other successful Raffaelli models the Shamal, Calima, and Meltemi, and the 25 meter Thaitan which so far has never been released.  Antonello the Italian designer and company boss Giampiero Raffaelli decided to make soft make up touches keeping the line simple to that of a modern Italian yacht without going into useless design excesses.  Therefore if you are someone looking for endless window surfaces this is not the yacht for you.  The 50 Compass Rose Evo will also feature a technical change as it can be powered by Volvo IPS pod drives propulsion, or a shaft system.  Hull one of the Raffaelli 50 Compass Rose Evo will be powered by twin Volvo 550hp units with IPS700 pod drives, which should see interesting performance gains considering the previous larger engine shaft set up was that of twin Cats 510hp.

Project: Kadey-Krogen 50 Open

Kadey-Krogen reveals the latest model on their drawing board, the 50 Open.  A true departure from any previous Kadey-Krogen model the 50 Open breaks the mold with an open and continuous saloon/galley/pilothouse main deck.  Entering the Kadey-Krogen 50 Open happens through one of five, full walk-through boarding doors for easy access, no matter if high fixed piers, low fixed piers or floating docks are present. Upon entering the saloon of the Krogen 50 Open from the cockpit, it is obvious this is not a typical raised pilothouse offshore trawler. An L-shaped settee to port with storage below and additional seating starboard, enhanced by four large picture windows, make up the spacious saloon. Moving forward is the galley is outfitted with all latest applicances including a Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer, ample pantry and cabinet storage, and pullout trash and recycle bins. Exclusive to the Kadey-Krogen 50 Open, the pilothouse, elevated by a single step, is situated on the main deck, immediately forward of the saloon and galley. A retractable partition wall, designed to separate the galley from the pilothouse, can be raised for night running or privacy.  Below, the master stateroom and guest accommodations are available in either a midship master with VIP cabin forward, or a master-forward, three-cabin arrangement. Either layout can be customized to meet an owner’s desires, and both options have a master suite that entails a maximum-comfort queen island berth with drawer storage below, a private head and roomy his/her closets. Each design is also appointed with a guest head and luxurious washer and dryer closet. Also below, the stand-up engine room with an incredible six and a half feet of head room, houses either single or twin engines and the industry’s finest systems and equipment.  Out of doors, the Krogen 50’ Open is designed with a Portuguese bridge, port and starboard wing stations, and an uncluttered foredeck with waist-high bow railings. Additionally, she has an unprecedented flybridge modeled after the 58 EB entertaining area and large boat deck. The flybridge is available with an optional hardtop and summer kitchen.

Tiara New Web Site

Tiara Yachts from the US of America presents a new global web showroom. Tiara yachts is the motor boat division of S2 which was founded in 1974 by Leon Slickers who came from a previous boat building experience which started in 1946 as a joinery maker with Chris Craft. This continued in 1950 first building 14 foot runabouts in his garage after work, and later on registering the Slickcraft name in 1954. This move made Slickers a year later to abandon his successful career with Chris Craft, sell his house and open a factory in Michigan. In the same year Slickers started experimenting with fiberglass and within three years Slickcraft had already produced a few boats with a switch to total production with the new material in 1963. In 1969 Leon Slickers sells Slickcraft to AMF, and was appointed to lead three other AMF companies including Slickcraft. But after four years Slickers noticed that corporation business was not his way, and left the company. In 1974 Leon Slickers founded S2 Yachts first building sailboats, which in ten years time will become one of the top five builders in the US. A few years later to the founding of S2 a new motorboat series called Tiara is added. This will be joined by a second factory in 1977 at Florida building the Pursuit brand, and six years later to this Slickers purchases back again his Slickcraft from AMF. Today Tiara is a quality renowned cruiser and yacht builder with an offer which consists of thirteen models from 31 to 53 feet divided into a five range series; Q, Tiara, Convertible, Flybridge, and Coupe series. The line up starts with the 31, and goes up to the C53 Coupe flagship, with latest model being the F53 Flybridge.  Currently Tiara has also a project for a 36 LS which marks the return to an outboard powered model from Tiara. Tiara new website is available in nearly all languages and takes you around with the following buttons; Yachts, Tiara Soul, Tiara World, Find a Dealer, Tiara Collection, Tiara Events, and Connect. Tiara is also on social media with a link to its Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, and Vimeo pages located at the bottom of the page.
