Improve-it = Sunreef 70 Power

After the success of the first fossil fuel engined catamaran, Polish builder Sunreef continue to deliver new 70 Power models which follow the wake of hull number one named Jambo. This latest 70 Power is hull five of the series and is named Ondin. It was ordered by Chilean owners who made their first appearance at the Cannes International Boat Show in 2008, coinciding with the premiere of the 70 Power. The Chilean owners had many reasons in choosing a power catamaran but the most important was the seven thousand nautical miles long range in 21 metres, low fuel consumption, and Sunreef custom finish philosophy. The latest 70 Power has been purpose built for long travelling around Southern America, especially Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. This 70 Power accommodation will have a home feeling furnishing, offering a total of eight guest and two crew berths on the lower deck. It also features a first for this model thanks to a partially three sides covered flybridge. Ondin just as hull one will also feature underwater bulbs which are one of the differences between a standard 70 Power and the expedition version, making her a comfortable cruising and explorer vessel. Power is from twin Volvo 265hp, which give a 7000 nautical miles at 10 knots and the full consumption of the total 16000 litres fuel capacity. The latest 70 Power will now cruise straight towards Central America and cross the Panama Channel from where she will cruise down to her home in Chile.

News: Menorquin April 2010

PALMA BOAT SHOW
From the 24th of April until the 2nd of May all the professionals and amateurs visiting the Palma International Boat Show have an inevitable appointment with Menorquin’s boats. The shipyard’s team will be available to attend visitors during the whole week of the show, which has become one of the most important national Boat Shows. Because of its special link with the Balearic’s nautical culture, Menorquin are inspired by the emblematic Llaüts and the shipyard’s headquarters are located in Menorca, a full support to the Palma Boat Show is given. Menorquin has opted to transfer three models from its cruising yachts range to the Palma Show: the MY 145, MY 120, and MY 100 all true icons of the Slowyachting sailing philosophy. As well as exhibiting these three models, Menorquin will be providing information to those interested in other Yacht models, or details about boats from any of their other three product ranges: Lläuts, Custom Yachts and Largo. The shipyard’s complete range of services will also be on display at the Palma Boat Show: Menorquin Charter; Menorquin Brokerage; Menorquin Share; and Menorquin Services, which this year has broadened the range of services it provides. NEXT DESTINATION CROATIA & MOSCOW
Menorquin commences April with an intense burst of activity in its Boat Show programme. In the International sphere and almost in parallel, the Spanish shipyard will be participating at the 12th Croatia Boat Show, which takes place from the 10th to the 18th of April; and at the 18th Moscow International Boat & Yacht Show, from the 15th to the 18th of the same month. Menorquin will be represented in Split, the Croatian city which hosts the first of these Boat Shows by its distributor for the Adriatic, Brik Nautika. Menorquin will exhibit one of its longest models from its cruising yachts range, Menorquin Yachts 160. An offshore traditional yacht with all the features of larger vessels which the Shipyard combines to perfection with its own particular classic style. Menorquin is conscious that the Croatia boat show has become an important platform for the recreational sailing business and a reference point for enthusiasts who sail mainly in the Adriatic Sea. The characteristics of this central European coastline bear a great resemblance to those of our Mediterranean coast, a factor which is in tune with the classic style of the Menorquin boats and a propensity for peaceful sailing which identify the Shipyard: sailing at your own pace, enjoying sea life to the full, or in one word Slowyachting. Menorquin will also participate at the Moscow International Boat & Yacht Show to attend customers from the Russian market and promote boats through its distributor for this area, Concept Marine. The nautical market in Russia has experienced spectacular growth in the last five years, the number of imported boats increased considerably in 2009 and the number of Russian luxury yacht buyers has also risen, according to the Boat Show’s organizing body. With these market figures Russia stands out amongst the emerging countries where the development of the recreational sailing industry presents magnificent prospects for the future. Therefore Menorquin has included this destination in its programme of International Boat Shows for this season.

Powerboat GPS - 2010 Season

Following the news that Powerboat P1 Management Ltd cancelled the 2010 Season, we finally have some more information about this after the 12th April meeting between the parties in Villa Malpensa, Milan, Italy. The bad news is that Powerboat P1 Management will not promote this years season. The good one is that the UIM takes over as promoter of this superb competition and races will be business as usual. So far we have a full calendar in order with three Grand Prix of the Seas fully confirmed, and an other two just waiting full confirmation. If all these will be confirmed that means a total of ten races, as each Grand Prix delivers two events, the longer Endurance and the shorter Sprint, and five Powerpoles. That is the same as the very good 2009 season. In this new calendar here is also showing the return of the Malta Grand Prix which after six consecutive seasons looked like to be cancelled from the previous calendar. Now this is set up again, although other news sources are saying this to be in September, which makes a bit of sense considering the below provisional calendar looks more expensive with various up and down trips on the European continent.
Powerboat P1 2010 Calendar
7-9 May UKRAINE Yalta
11-13 June MALTA Valletta
16-18 July ITALY To be confirmed
6-8 August SWEDEN To be confirmed
