Maritimo Yacht Sinks in Towing Operation at Coromandel, New Zealand

An eighteen meter Maritimo motor yacht sank during a towing operation at South Bay of Slipper Island, Coromandel, to the East of New Zealand on the late morning of Sunday 21 September.  The Maritimo yacht was being towed to Whangārei, and is the same yacht which sank over four months ago on sixteen May near Tauranga and Mototi Island, and of which fourteen persons were rescued.  According to Waikato Regional Harbourmaster’s office, the vessel took on water through open engine hatches and went down in around four metres of water.  No pollution is reported as the yacht had all its fuels and oil removed from the previous sinking.  A salvage operation for the yacht was being organized on Monday.  The yacht was reportedly being towed to be taken to a boat yard for a total refit.

The Pershing in this grounding is a 62 as designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced from 2004 to 2008.  The 62 was a replacement to the 65 Limited, and was replaced by the Pershing 64.

Cranchi Cruiser Ends Aground in Xemxija, Malta

A six meter Cranchi cuddy cruiser ended aground and beached in Xemija bay, to the North West of the Island of Malta before 06:00 early morning time of Friday nineteen September.  The Cranchi cruiser ended aground from the fresh and strong North Easterly winds of the previous night and morning, with these breaking its swing mooring and the boat finishing luckily beached in soft sand rather then hard rock.   The story was broken on the Xemija Boating Group on Facebook, dedicated to the boaters of the popular all swing moored bay area, typically used in Summer months.
The Cranchi cuddy cruiser in this accident is a Start 21 as designed by Andreani and produced in the nineties.  The Start 21 was a replacement to the Hobby 20, and was then replaced by the Cranchi 24 Turchese.

Project: Azimut Fly 82

Azimut present the Fly 82, a project presented just a few days before the debut at the Cannes boat show. This new Fly range flagship came as a surprise announcement for the reason, that Azimut announced a Grande 25M project in the Summer. With the Fly 82 just being twenty centimetres short to 25 meters you can understand what I mean here.  The new flagship of the best-selling Fly Series features exteriors by the since 2019 Azimut designer Alberto Mancini, with interiors by Fabio Fantolino, who is in his third project for famous Italian yacht maker, and here he combines the essence of Azimut's signature modern aesthetics with innovative layout solutions and a significant advancement in the brand’s vision of open-air living. The exterior lines are the finest expression of Mancini’s design approach for Azimut, similar to those presented with the Fly 62 last year: well-sculpted and sharply defined, shaped by the wind: something that appears to be in motion even when at rest. The Fly 82 is also the first in the Fly Series to incorporate the Deck2Deck™ system, originally developed by Azimut for the Grande 26M, to maximize social space at the stern. Designed with versatility at its core, the opening transom rises to align seamlessly with the aft edge of the main deck, extending the boundaries of space and transforming the cockpit terrace into the heart of conviviality. Inside, the dialogue between Azimut and Fabio Fantolino unfolds in an atmosphere of refined, softly elegant style, a language that speaks of harmony and sophistication and that has become their shared signature for the Fly Series. The space revolves around its natural focal point, a generous round dining table that transforms the saloon into a stage for conviviality. To complete the scene, a bold new accent emerges in orange-brown, a contemporary hue that infuses the interiors with a fresh sense of character and distinction.  The Azimut Fly 82 is to be powered by triple Volvo 900hp and or optional 1000hp for top speeds up to 32 knots and a cruise of 25 knots.
