Boater Injured as Sea Ray Cruiser Hits Irondequoit Bay Pier, New York

One boater was injured as he struck the pier with an eight meter Sea Ray sport cruiser in Irondequoit Bay, New York at around 22:20 of Friday thirtieth June 2023. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office along with the United States Coast Guard, West Webster Fire, Sea Breeze Ambulance, and New York State Police responded to the collision. The only one boater aboard the sport cruiser was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor facial injuries, and was afterwards arrested and charged for helming the boat intoxicated and without a boater safety certificate. The cause of the collision is under investigation, as a recovery operation for the sport cruiser is being organized by TowBoatU.S.
The Sea Ray sport cruiser in this collision is a fourth generation 270 Sundancer as produced from 1998 to 2001.  The fourth generation 270 Sundancer was a replacement to the third generation 270 Sundancer, and was replaced by the second generation Sea Ray 280 Sundancer.
