Project: Azimut S10

During the Milan design week 2018 Azimut has presented the project for a new S10 model.  Not much details have been advised for this new project albeit an important one that design duties for the exterior are to be trusted to Alberto Mancini, who takes over from long standing and designer of all S models Stefano Righini.  The Azimut S10 will represent a new flagship for the S series, with the current range biggest offer being the 77 S.  If the current designation holds true the S10 should be a super sport yacht at around one hundred feet in length.  The Azimut S range series have been a huge success since its introduction in 2003 with the 68 S, this first model receiving orders of forty units in the first year of production, and a total sales of over one hundred units delivered in seven years production . The largest Azimut S ever made have been the 120 SL and the 103 S respectively, both stopped in production some years ago.

Project: Azimut S6

Announced in September 2017 this is the first rendering of the Azimut S6 project.  To be presented in Cannes 2018 the first taste appeared on the Facebook page of the famous Italian boat builder.  A third new model for Azimut in 2018 after launching two novelties in January, the S6 follows the lineage as introduced with the 55S in 2012, and then expanded with the 77S, and S7 in 2017.  Just as the other bigger and smaller S models the Azimut S6 will have a lot of carbon elements in its construction and will use the same three engines Volvo IPS pod propulsion set up.  The S6 as the rendering above shows will also have a sport bridge option.  The Azimut S6 completes the range S sport yacht Azimut range from 55 up to 77 feet and everything in between the sixteen to 23 meters in size, with a model for every two meters of size.

New Model: Azimut Atlantis 51

Atlantis up until some time ago a separate brand of the Azimut Benetti Group enters its third phase of design with this new 51, World presented along the 55 Flybridge during the 2018 Dusseldorf boat show.  In this new Atlantis 51 designers Neo Design integrate looks more inline with Azimut yachts, see bow design with similar grill to the S series.  The Atlantis 51 presents itself as a traditional Mediterranean sport yacht with a spacious open hard top covered main deck, and an interior with a traditional three cabin layout; forward owners stateroom, two guest cabins at midships, and saloon and galley in between the cabins.  In short the Azimut Atlantis 51 is very much similar to the 50 model its replaces with important design elements which take her to the next design phase and a renewed propulsion system now with Volvo IPS pod drives.  This made in order to make the Azimut Atlantis 51 compete with the like of Fairline 48 Targa Open, new Princess V50, and Sunseeker 50 San Remo.

New Model: Azimut 55 Flybridge

Azimut set up an important stage at the end of January 2018 held Dusseldorf boat show presenting not one but two World premiers.  The Azimut 55 Flybridge is one of the important new premiers for the Italian builder replacing the 53/54 and also inspired thanks in model name to the success that was the 2000 till 2009 produced best selling 55 which sold around five hundred units in that time period.  For those that follow Azimut, this new 55 Flybridge is an entirely new model and here the Italian builder and its designers Stefano Righini for the exterior, and Achille Salvagni for interior, take a conservative route as the sun-pad in the fore deck and no forward bench settee.  For the first time in the 55 Flybridge we also see Azimut with the galley located astern of the main deck.  As story go the astern galley was introduced by Ferretti in 2005 on the 630, and then followed in all its sub twenty meters models.  As is usual the Azimut 55 Flybridge shines in its lower deck layout with three spacious cabins serving guests including a full beam midships located owners stateroom.  A single berth crew cabin is located aft.  The Azimut 55 Flybridge is powered by twin Man 800hp reaching top speeds of 31 knots and a cruise of 27 knots.

New Model: Azimut 60 Flybridge

An evolution of the species, the new Azimut 60 Flybridge is an indirect heir to the 2000-2009 produced 55 which brought so much success to the Italian builder with five hundred units delivered in a production run lasting about nine years.  Unlike previous evolution's of the 55 that followed, the 58 and 60, which this model now replaces thanks to more length and beam adds more into its interior spaces.  For example in the new Azimut 60 Flybridge the lower deck offers three guest cabins and three heads; two of which en-suite for the owners stateroom and VIP cabin forward.  The third is a guest day head located by the stair case en-route to the cabins.  For the new 60 Flybridge exterior designer Righini who is with Azimut since the early nineties continues the pattern of third generation evolution which started its process with the 50 in 2014 and in this model sees the addition of the aggressive Alfa-style bow as introduced in the 55S in 2012. Power for the new Azimut 60 will come from Man 800hp or Volvo 900hp engines with a line shaft propulsion giving max speed up to 31 knots.

New Model: Azimut Grande 27 Metri

Azimut did it again!  The motor yacht industry followers are actually surprised when the Italian builder does not deliver in innovating a segment or another in the yachting sector every couple years.  Can you reinvent the wheel?  The answer is no but you can evolve it to do better with new design philosophies.  This time around Azimut remolds the eighty feet entry level super yacht segment with this Grande 27 Metri.  With a length of 87 feet the Grande 27 Metri brings internal accommodation solutions found on latest generation yachts usually about three to five meters larger.  What is next?  A segment of 26 to 27 meters raised pilot house semi wide body super yachts.  Other famous or not boat builder names to follow!

Project: Azimut Atlantis 51

Been about three years since Atlantis launched a totally new model, so the thinking was that Azimut-Benetti Group was re-valuating its entry level sport cruiser and yacht range, even though both the 43 and 50 models are good sellers.  Comes Cannes show 2017 and Azimut-Benetti Group present the Azimut Atlantis 51 project.  A new flagship of the Atlantis range, the 51 see the Neo Design team continue responsibility of the range as started in 2009.  The Azimut Atlantis 51 sees the designers offer a similar super structure to the 43 model, with the hull taking inspiration from the third generation Azimut S series looks, see axe-bow with grill.  Inside the Azimut Atlantis 51 will offer a traditional three double cabin six berths layout; owners room forward, a VIP double cabin to starboard, twin bunk to port side, and a saloon and galley in between.  This is a surprise considering Atlantis has been in the past a pioneer in offering full beam cabins in the 425 SC, 47, and 55 models.  But the surprise is even bigger when you see that the 51 will feature IPS pod propulsion, therefore usually allowing for larger cabin space. Interesting to note Atlantis return to the use of IPS pod drives with the 51 being the second model to offer IPS pod propulsion after the 50x4 model presented in 2008 and lasting production a couple years.

Project: Azimut 55 Flybridge

You can never stop developing and looking forward, and that is what Azimut and Righini have been doing in over two decades of working together. When you speak of the Azimut 55 produced from 2001 till 2009 you are speaking about the best selling flybridge motor yacht ever build which sold in around the five hundred unit mark.  The interior of the 55 launched in Genoa boat show year 2000 was a revolution for the segment which inspired the new age of flybridge motor yachts.  Now Azimut after a decade returns the 55 name into its flybridge range with this looking forward sixteen meter project set to launch in mid 2018.  Stefano Righini, and Achille Salvagni are the designers of this Azimut 55 Flybridge, exterior and interior respectively.  For this project Azimut made the most for a near to five meter beam.  The interior will feature three double cabins with two heads, and crew cabin berth aft. The living is located on the main deck, and for a first time we are seeing Azimut with an astern galley layout, joined by a patio door which fully opens and disappears, creating a single connection with the aft cockpit deck.  For this new Azimut 55 Flybridge, Righini has integrated design cues from the S range, see bow, and an important detail to note is that he is not overdoing it with hull side windows going for a more traditional pattern of serving owners and VIP cabin forward.  The Azimut 55 Flybridge will be powered by twin 800hp engines and will weight 29 tons full loaded, don't know if this is a typo but that is four tons more to the new 60.  Speed estimates are a max of 31 knots.

New Model: Azimut S7

Azimut S line since introduced in 2003 has been an important game changer for the industry which reshaped the sport yacht sector from its introductory model the 68S onward. The new S7 continues to see the Italian builder pushing its successful S line to new limits of design, and the next stage of what was started with the forward thinking third generation S-series, the 55 as presented in 2012.  Launched in another huge party plus a tour around the Mediterranean the S7 made an important scene entrance in early August in Formentera Ibiza where it appeared to the public for the first time. At seventy feet the S7 is a direct heir to the 68S and impresses for being a modern advanced hard top sports yacht.  The layout below offers four double cabins, while living plus galley is all located on the main deck.  The S7 also offers flexibility with choice to the client coming on order for a Coupe or Sportfly version. Hull one shown above is a Sportfly version, which personally at this size I think will be a difficult temptation to resist.  On the technical side the S7 continues Azimut full dedication to a triple Volvo IPS pod set up, as introduced with the 55S and followed with the 77S. In this case the S7 is powered by a triple Volvo 800hp engines which give a top speed of 35 knots and a cruise of 31.  It will be interesting to see if the S7 is able to follow what the 55S does with the triple set up, as for example the economical use of two engines only.

Project: Azimut 60 Flybridge

When Azimut releases a project in around the seventeen to eighteen meter size everyone enters into attention lets see what they got mode.  Let's be frank the Italian known by everyone Azimut and its designers have been a game changer in this size both in the early nineties with the revolutionary AZ54; first to have a midships owners stateroom in this size, and then again at the start of the new millennium when it launched the ground breaking 55 with its how did they do it midships full beam owners cabin.  This new 60 project is the next step of what the 55 represented in the Genoa boat show year 2000, and which after that sold in five hundred units plus in its eight years production run.  The 55 was followed by the 58 launched in 2007 and then developed into the current 60 as presented in the fall of 2011.  The 60 just as was the 58/60 before it, is an evolution to the series, being the next step the revolutionary 55 represented.  By the renderings of this new 60 we see that designer Righini is bringing details from recent other Azimut Flybridge models see new 50 and 66 models type windows, and the Alfa Romeo inspired bow of the S series.  Inside Azimut does not follow trends and sticks to its beliefs; see central galley instead of the astern location so much favored nowadays by the other famous names in this size.  Below deck is the main difference between the old and new 60, as the new Azimut  offers a three cabins three head layout, with a third day guest head to port of the stair case which takes from the saloon to the cabins.  I always thought this detail had to come in the 58 back in 2007 especially when thinking that the Azimut 55 first full beam midships cabin challenger the Aicon 56 offered the third head back when launched in 2002.  The Azimut 60 will be powered by the Man 800hp engines of which a top speed of 32 knots is being estimated.  Technical numbers are lightly different to the current 60 meaning that probably the Azimut technical department might have started with a blank paper.  An interesting detail also present in the new 60 data is the 2.9 tons less of displacement versus the outgoing model.

Project: Azimut Grande 27 Metri

Azimut present the project for its smallest Grande to date with the 27 Metri. A two deck and half semi wide body pocket size super yacht, the 27 Metri is again a design to Righini exterior and lines, while interior architecture is by Achille Salvagni.  The Grande 27 Metri offers a four or five cabin interior layout choice, subject to a large full beam VIP suite or two in the midships position of the lower deck.  Hull shape is for a full planning hull with twin Man 1900hp engines allowing for top speeds up to 27 knots.

New Model: Azimut Grande 35 Metri

During the first edition of the Versilia Viareggio boat show held in May 2017 Azimut launched and presented the new Grande 35 Metri model.  The Grande 35 Metri is designed as all the Azimut's since the early nineties by Stefano Righini with interiors by Achille Salvagni.  For the 35 Metri Righini followed the recent trend for a semi wide body design, this being done to increase interior space on the forward part of the main deck. The new Azimut Grande 35 Metri also follows the Italian recent technological scores as abundant use of carbon fiber for the super structure, and the D2P hull design as introduced in the Benetti Class F Range and designed in collaboration with Pierluigi Ausonio.  The Azimut Grande 35 Metri also breaks some records as having the largest extending terrace for a yacht of this size, two beach clubs, and side garage for the tenders.

Improve-it = Azimut 50 Flybridge

Azimut starts 2017 with a bang presenting a surprise novelty at one of the most important World boat shows, happening in Germany at Dusseldorf.  As it has already happened for several years in a row, Azimut has chosen this occasion to present its first novelty for 2017, underlining once again the importance of the European market. Visitors at the Düsseldorf Boat Show will be the first ones to uncover the alternative layout of the Azimut 50 Flybridge. Clients can choose now one of the two different layouts for the 50 Flybridge: with the galley on the main or in the lower deck.

Consult ~ 28-29 meter Raised Pilot House Super Yacht 2016

INTRO
The new 28 to 29 meter Raised Pilot House Super Yacht was created by Sanlorenzo in 2011, when it replaced the long standing good selling SL88 with the SL94.  Just as the 88, the SL94 was also a raised pilot house yacht, but had an important different layout which the previous model did not offer, for a main deck with fore ship owners stateroom.  The SL94 had also the advantage which similar type and size yachts above 28 meter did not have in 2011, and that was a hull size or load line length 23.9 meters or under.  Meaning it can be helmed by owners or captains with a standard yacht master licence.  This gave the SL94 two features unheard in this size; owners room on the main deck which used to be found in yachts a couple meters bigger, and a hull size which legally classifies as a smaller yacht.
PRESENT
The Sanlorenzo SL94 was an important change and other builders reacted to this.  In the fall of 2012 Ferretti presented the project for the 960, a new flagship for the Yachts range launching in the first half of 2013.  Amer came following in 2013 with the semi wide body Cento measuring just above 29 meters.  Always in high attention Azimut followed with the new Grande 95RPH which launched in early 2014.  Seeing all this competition in 2014 Sanlorenzo tweaked its SL94, and developed it into the SL96 with some important modernization details, see large sized cabin windows below, and opening optional balconies on the main deck.  The last to join the pack is the British Sunseeker who in 2015 presented the project for its new raised pilot house 95 Yacht which the Poole based builder launched in the second quarter of 2016.
Upcoming is the Summer 2016 presented project by Canados with the 969 Coliseum, set to launch in 2017.  The Canados will be an interesting challenge to all builders listed here, with Sanlorenzo being the traditional competitor, as both builders are a representation of hand build made in Italy semi-custom yachts since the 1970's.
FUTURE
It is a growing new class with some important super yacht builders creating an interesting choice to buyers looking for a raised pilot house pocket super yacht of 28 to 29 meters overall with a hull or load line length less to 23.9 meters and an owners stateroom on the main deck.  Who is next in this class is all speculative, but expect something to come from Montecarlo Yachts, Princess, and Fipa Maiora.  I would say the next new challenge in this size coming from Montecarlo Yachts who would not surprise me to have something ready for 2017 as the company has an empty spot between its large 105 and 86 models.

Project: Azimut S7

Azimut Yachts was very enthusiastic about its growth numbers, and future during its usual Cannes 2016 show yearly conference.  Again as the previous years Azimut showed its road map for its future in the coming year or two. In this road map Azimut showcased the project for a new S7.  Little details are circulating for this model apart the above rendering sent to us press guys. What we know so far is that the S7 will be about twenty meters long fitting perfect in between the current top selling 55S and 77S models, and will feature a design by Francesco Guida for in the interior.  An Azimut first for the Italian architect, Francesco Guida is a long standing specialist who has previously worked for Italcraft, Tornado, Ilver, Sanlorenzo, Fiart and Arcadia.  Official presentation is scheduled for September 2017 in Cannes.

Azimut present the project for a new Grande 35 Metri, set to launch for 2017.  As all Azimut since a couple decades the new Grande features exterior design by Stefano Righini, who presented a raised pilot house two deck and half super yacht with the fore half part of the main deck being of wide fully body.  Thanks to this the Grande 35 Metri gains an imposing fore deck which should be the best in the category for a yacht this size.  Interior is made by Achille Salvagni who will present a five cabins layout with a huge owners cabin on the forward part of the main deck, which again will make use of the extra space the wide body in this area gives.  Six crew berths are available in four cabins.  Naval architecture hull design comes from Pierluigi Ausonio who went for a planning hull with wave piercer and moderate sized MTU 2400hp giving 25 knots max speed.

New Model: Azimut 66 Flybridge

At the Düsseldorf boat show 2016, held in the last week of January Azimut premiered the new 66 Flybridge, again an example of the ability to innovate that has made the Italian yacht builder a World leader. The 66 is part of the Flybridge range, the most classic and long standing of Azimut’s collections, and the one which has seen the most important renewal of  stylistic and technical content over the past years and decades, always making the Italian builder a leader with the innovation it brought to the flybridge motor yacht. The process of renewal of the range began with the Azimut 80 in 2013, to continue with the 50 in 2014 and the recent 72, unveiled in September. And so the team of Azimut technicians has been faced with the difficult task of producing a new twenty meter motor yacht combining all the innovations appearing in the most recent models of the new collection, a process that has transformed the Azimut 66 into a true icon representing the entire range. Harmonious lines of the 66, designed by long standing since 1990's  Azimut designer Stefano Righini, with the hallmark shark’s fin shaped side window, the particularly spacious elongated flybridge and the fore deck area transformed into an exclusive lounge. The carbon fibre superstructure makes the vessel considerably lighter and increases its interior volume. Designer Carlo Galeazzi, who worked on the interiors of the Azimut 66 with the shipyard’s styling office, not only came up with the usual refined decor but focused his attention on the need to optimize use of space, obtaining extra storage space in the already ample interior volumes to make an even more convenient motor yacht.

Project: Azimut 66 Flybridge

The first month of the new year will see plenty of new developments for Azimut Yachts. At the upcoming Düsseldorf Boat Show, scheduled for January 23 through 31 2016, the Italian yacht-manufacturing company will present the world premiere of the Azimut 66, a new example of the ability to innovate that has made the company a world leader.  The Azimut 66 is part of the Flybridge Collection, the most classic of Azimut’s collections, and the one which has seen the most important renewal of its stylistic and technical content. The process of renewal of the range began with the Azimut 80 in 2013, to continue with the Azimut 50 in 2014 and the recent Azimut 72, unveiled in September. And so the team of Azimut technicians has been faced with the difficult task of producing a new twenty meter motor yacht combining all the innovations appearing in the most recent models in the new collection, a process that has transformed the 66 into a true icon representing the entire range.  Visitors to the Düsseldorf Boat Show will be the first to admire the harmonious lines of the Azimut 66, designed by Stefano Righini, with the hallmark shark’s fin shaped side window, the particularly spacious elongated flybridge and the prow area transformed into an exclusive lounge. The carbon fiber superstructure makes the vessel considerably lighter and increases its interior volume. Designer Carlo Galeazzi, who worked on the interiors of the Azimut 66 with the shipyard’s styling office, not only came up with the usual refined decor but focused his attention on the need to optimize use of space, obtaining extra storage space in the already ample interior volumes to make an even more convenient vessel.   Indeed if compared to the 64, the 66 will offer a four cabin layout, along with one of the most versatile split level saloons in the category, and one of the largest flybridge in the twenty meter size.  Handling wise the 66 will feature a hull designed by Studo Plana, which give a performance of 31 knots and 27 cruise with twin 1150hp Cat engines.

New Model: Azimut 72 Flybridge

This is the 3.0 revolution of the Flybridge Collection by Azimut Yachts. In 2013 with its Azimut 80 the Italian boatyard had come up with a complete new vision of the classic flybridge model. Then, in 2014, it applied the same successful style solutions to its Azimut 50 model and today with the brand new Azimut 72 it is taking another step forward by marrying this elegant yet revolutionary style with advanced construction techniques. The 72 model is constructed in an advanced technique aimed to save weight. The hull and the deck are entirely made out of molded fiberglass while the upper structure and flybridge are made out of carbon fiber. This new production choice leads to a considerable reduction in weight, close to 30%, which can be exploited to obtain more extensive deck surfaces and greater internal volume, while maintaining the same displacement as its competitors in the same category. From a general point of view, the designer Stefano Righini, sums up the design effort made on the concept for this new model:

Project: Azimut 72 Flybridge

Azimut will go to Cannes with a new important model which should in the future replace the 70. Azimut is saying the 72 is totally new but a couple of important technical details as hull Vee dead-rise and beam seem to be identical to that of the out going 70. By the renderings so far shown the 72 seems to have a more big yacht feel, without forgetting the sporty lines associated with this model which is a heir to the top selling 68 Plus launched in 1999.  The long fore deck, and low profile curved flybridge all shout I am a sleek machine and know it. The 72 will feature a four double cabins arrangement for guests.  A two crew cabin berth should be located to aft. Power will come from twin MAN 1400hp engines which give top speeds up to 31 knots.
