New Model: Maritimo S55

Leading Australian luxury motor yacht manufacturer Maritimo, has unveiled the brand new S55 Sedan Motor Yacht at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. The new S55 is the latest addition to the esteemed sedan motor yacht series, renowned for long range adventuring, offshore cruising, and ocean tested stability and performance, features which form the foundation of Maritimo’s building ethos. Maritimo S55 has been designed to meet the lifestyle expectations for sport yacht enthusiasts seeking space, comfort, and luxury with a focal emphasis on long range offshore cruising and adventuring. Plans of the highly anticipated new model were revealed late in 2020, and has since seen the S55 Sedan already capture the attention of current Maritimo owners, and other boaters from around the globe, with orders placed prior to the official debut more than any Maritimo S-Series predecessor.  The new S55 hull is an advanced evolution of Maritimo’s longstanding experience in long range cruising design, with a variable deadrise hull with deep keel, sharp bow entry and flattened progression aft focusing on offshore cruising performance, comfort and stability. The foundations of the new S55’s hull design and engineering is focused on direct shaft drive technology. Maritimo has continually developed hull and engineering design specifically for shaft technology. This focus and dedication to the development of shaft driven technology has positioned Maritimo as world leaders in shaft driven performance and long range cruising design. The direct shaft drives will be powered by standard twin Volvo 670hp, with options taking power from Volvo, Scania or CAT up to 1000hp. The displayed S55-01 featured optional Volvo Penta 800hp, reaching top speeds up to thirty knots. The S55 also shines in its long-range capabilities with the 4550 litres fuel capacity and highly efficient performance enabling a range up to 488 nautical miles at a cruise of twenty knots. The Maritimo S-Series sedan motor yacht has long been renowned for catering to a practical single level boating lifestyle, and the S55 has encompassed the successful idea of a practical deck space with its new adventure deck lower cockpit design. The adventure deck creates an incredible water-sports with practical proximity to the water. It incorporates the option to be opened with electric actuators to unveil a fully lined tender garage with 250kg davit for owners looking to conceal tenders away from the rear platform. The adventure deck lower cockpit can also be integrated with an optional extended platform to create a mammoth deck space with endless practical applications. One step up from the lower cockpit, is the upper cockpit alfresco deck space, with easy access to deep walkthrough side decks. The upper cockpit is fully sheltered by the extended hardtop headliner, providing complete cover for the alfresco area. Adding further cover is the option for roll down breezeway or clears which provide complete 360 degree protection for the deck space. The design also conveniently conceals the clears with moulded headliner recesses when stored. The amount of floor space offered in the upper cockpit alfresco deck leads the market in the mid 50 foot category, with standard rear U-shape lounging and dining table and further option of opposing lounging flanking each side of the area. Maritimo is renowned for breaking the status quo, and the S55 is no exception. The expanded cockpit hardtop coverage has amplified the amount of area above, on the often-inaccessible sedan hardtop.

Fairline Sport Cruiser Sinking in Poole

A Fairline Targa sport cruiser named Hayley with a couple onboard was recued in Poole, Sandbanks in the South of England while it started to take on water and sinking on the 21st July.  The circumstances of the accident are yet unknown, but rumours are calling for a stern drive failure.  The couple where rescued by the British RNLI coast guard, who after recusing the two persons and taking them to safety at the nearby Parkstone Yacht Club, cleared the sport cruiser from eventual pollution.  This same Fairline Targa apparently also hit the Weymouth Town Bridge in 2020 with a video showing the accident going viral on social media.
The Targa 40 is a popular sport cruiser model from Fairline produced from 2000 till 2007 in 299 units, which makes it the second most sold Targa model.  Designed as all Fairline's from the eighties till 2012 by Bernard Olesinski she was at the time of lunch one of the few sport cruisers to have a tender garage layout in a twelve meter size. The Targa 40 offered an interior with two double cabins, and convertible dinette and galley.  Power came from twin Volvo 260hp year 2000, with engines which became bigger as Volvo offered more powerful diesel stern drives.  Largest engine choice was for the 2006 and 07 offered twin 370hp taking speeds at about forty knots.  The Targa 40 was based on the hull of the 1993 launched Targa 38/39, and was replaced with the 2006 launched Targa 38 which also used the same hull.

New Model: Riva 76 Perseo Super

The most loved sport-fly is now even more desirable, with the improvement coming with the new Riva 76 Perseo Super, heir to and evolution of the award-winning 2015 launched 76 Perseo, which exceeds  expectations in terms of design, aesthetics, functionality, on-board liveability and performance.  The 76 Perseo Super was launched on Thursday May 27 in La Spezia, where the Riva models from 22 to 40 meters production facility is located.  With an overall length of just over 23, the new Riva sport-fly is the result of collaboration of the Product Strategy Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari, designer Mauro Micheli, the founder of Officina Italiana Design with Sergio Beretta, and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.  Over forty square metres of glazed surfaces on the hull and in the superstructure characterise the yacht’s sleek profile and enhance the sporty look of the exterior styling. The mahogany and polished stainless steel detailing, which has both technical and design functions, pays stylistic tribute to the authentic Riva tradition.  In the cockpit, designed for maximum conviviality, the dining area can easily become a spacious sun pad when needed, by lowering the table for eight and covering it with cushions.  Perfectly integrated into the yacht’s aerodynamic lines, the sun deck offers a place both to relax in total privacy and to pilot the boat from a privileged position, with a generous central sun pad of about four square metres, while forward, the central section of the second helm station is flanked by sofas on both the port and starboard sides. The refined combination of sand-coloured oak and light or dark lacquer is a distinctive feature of the entire main deck, as well as of the yacht’s interiors as a whole. The owner can also opt for rosewood as an alternative.  In the standard layout, Riva 76 Perseo Super accommodates guests on the lower deck in three cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms, but the owner can also request a fourth cabin, configured as always to ensure optimum comfort and liveability. Completing the lower deck are a small lounge and a separate galley.  The entire area is designed to ensure the best possible acoustic insulation, with supplementary soundproofing in all the forward and aft walls of the owner’s suite.  Already sold out for 2021 and available production entering well into 2022, Riva 76 Perseo Super will be officially presented at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival.

Azimut Magellano Ends Aground in Pwhelli

A sixteen meter Azimut Magellano explorer yacht ended aground just outside of Pwhelli Marina in North Wales, to the west of Great Britain.  This accident happened early morning July 21, and salvage operations where being prepared to be done on the evening of the same day, when a higher tide was planned to arrive.  Reports say two persons where onboard and no one suffered injuries.  Apparently this breakwater reef is difficult to visually spot when there is a medium tide, as it becomes submerged, and lays in position to starboard of the exit channel from Pwhelli Marina.
The Azimut Magellano in this accident is a 53 model, designed by Cor D.Rover for exterior and interior.  The Magellano 53 offers three cabins, plus a crew cabin aft, and a choice to have a fourth or second crew cabin in replacement of the utility room to starboard.  The Azimut Magellano 53 was released in the fall of 2013 and came as a further development of the replaced 2010 launched successful 50 Magellano.  The Magellano range was presented by Azimut in 2009 with the 74 model, the 50 being the second model of the line-up.  The Magellano range come from a thorough Azimut investment in research and design to enter the Explorer Yacht market and to minimize the hump characterizing both planning and semi-displacement hulls in that ten to fifteen knots range.  As of 2021 the Magellano 53 is still in production, and today the range has five models from the entry level 43, to the upcoming 30 Metri.
