Project: Viking 68 Convertible

Viking continues its dominance of the sportfishing yacht industry with the introduction of the Viking 68 Convertible, a four-stateroom blue-water convertible with unmatched performance, bulletproof construction, luxury interior accommodations, advanced propulsion, and boat-control technologies.  The 68 Convertible is designed and engineered to function equally as well as a tournament-ready offshore runner and a cruising yacht with all the conveniences and technology that you’ve come to expect from Viking.  The optional Seakeeper gyro stabilizer heightens the level of comfort during both fishing and cruising activities. Anglers do battle in a 12 square meters cockpit, while guests can watch from an air-conditioned observation mezzanine.  Running on Viking’s proven hull shape with a 12.1-degree transom dead-rise, this beautiful battle wagon delivers a soft ride in rough seas, with a 35-knot cruising speed and a top end approaching 40 knots. An aggressively raked stem, gently sloping sheer, swept-back black-masked windshield and flying bridge brow present a powerful yet elegant picture.  Official launching date and presentation for the 68 Convertible is for early 2018 for the Miami boat show.

New Model: Scanner SuperOcean 58

Here is a new Rib Yacht which raised a few looks during its presentation for the European fall boat show season of 2017, the SuperOcean 58.  A new brand with important stable names behind it, that of Scanner ribs from Italy who are also responsible for the construction of this new different looking machine.  Designed by Donato Montemitro and Benoit Marcilhacy this new seventeen meter rib yacht surprises for its utilitarian do it all looks the designers provided.  For a seventeen meter Rib Yacht the SuperOcean 58 also surprises for its super spacious interior and exterior, a balance which makes it compete with Sport Yachts of similar size also thanks to an important plus five meter of beam.  Still the SuperOcean 58 offers a choice of two interior lower deck layouts with two or three cabins and three heads.  What is interesting in all this is that the three cabin layout does not steal space from the dinette or the galley but takes space from the second VIP room and its en-suite head, this becoming smaller in the three cabin layout.  In both layout choices there is a guest day head to port side on the arrival of the cabin lower deck.  A single berth crew cabin located to starboard at midships is provided in both layouts. The SuperOcean 58 is powered by standard twin Man 800hp, and or optional 1000hp or 1200hp units with Jolly drive surface drive propulsion set up.  Speed numbers are not yet announced.

Dominator New Web Site

Dominator Yachts launches its new virtual Internet showroom. Dominator was founded in 1999 by Giandonato Sigismondi, and in 2001 it launched its first model the 65 which later was renamed as 680 and produced till 2012. Sigismondi boat building career goes much previously to Dominator with him producing his first boat in 1981 the sailing craft Mizar 31, and later joining Mochi Craft, here seeing a great successful period for this marque who in the eighties thanks to the Paolo Caliari designed yachts became a symbol of the Italian yachting design renaissance.  Dominator was indeed a Mochi Craft model designation produced in ten different variants from eight to twelve meters in size and types in the seventies and eighties. Since the first half of 2010 Dominator has been taken over by an Austrian Investment Group. Dominator has so far delivered over one hundred yachts and super yachts from the 62 up to the 40M model. A great success considering the big competition today in motor and super yachts between the nineteen and forty meter size. Today Dominator is to concentrate on the Alberto Mancini designed Ilumen range which launched in Summer 2017 with the 28M.  Four other Ilumen Dominators are to follow; 24M, 32M, 36M, and the 38M Tri Deck currently under construction.  Alberto Mancini is Domintor third designer, following the first models designed by Nuovlari Lenard, and second generation series designed by Team for Design of Enrico Gobbi.  Dominator new website takes you around with the following buttons; Yachts, Bespoke, Inside Dominator, News, Service, Press, and Contact.  Dominator is also present on social media with link buttons taking you to its Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube pages.

Project: Riva 90

During the 2017 Fort Lauderdale boat show Riva showed a preview for a 90 project.  The 90 foot super yacht is the latest addition to the new-generation Riva flybridge range and complements the successful 100 Corsaro launched at the end of 2016, and the soon to launch 110 Dolce Vita, which is set to be launched in early 2018.  The 90 is the result of the since 1991 Riva designers Officina Italiana Design of Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, and the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee, and the Group’s Engineering Department who own the Riva brand since 2000. The new Riva 90 is a pocket size super yacht combining and reinforcing the unique selling points of its predecessors, with particular emphasis on the exterior styling distinguished by sleek and dynamic profile and the generous use of glass for the hull-mounted windows, from the stern to the wide-body owner's suite on the main deck and on the raised pilothouse.  For the 90 designer Micheli and Berretta bring design intuitions as shown in the bigger 100 Corsaro and 110 Dolce Vita for a a semi wide body raised pilot house design, but importantly bring Riva to compete in the 28-29 meter sector of this class which has become very competitive thanks to a registered length under 24 meters and the option to have an owners stateroom on the forward part of the main deck.  The stern area features the innovative Ferretti Group’s patented concealed stairway system, already installed on the new 56 Rivale. The garage can accommodate a Williams 395 tender and a personal watercraft, which can be launched independently.  A choice of three engine configurations is available for the Riva 90, with the standard being twin MTU 1948hp which should should deliver cruising speeds of 22 knots and a maximum of 26 knots. Alternatively owners can choose twin MTU 2218hp which increase speeds by two knots, or MTU 2435hp which manage to add speeds by four knots and allow for a maximum of thirty knots.  The Riva 90 will be equipped with underway and zero-speed stabilizing fins as standard, and upon request, can also include Seakeeper gyro stabilizers.
