Improve-it = Pershing 115

Hull Number nine of the 35 metre 115 model, flagship of Pershing a brand of the Ferretti Group which is among the main international producers of high performance open motor yachts of 15 to 35 metres, launched on the 12th January at Marina dei Cesari in Fano. The official launching ceremony of Pershing 115 was carried out in the presence of the company management, the ship owner’s representative, and the main local authorities. Pershing 115 is a super sport yacht representing an authentic stylistic evolution, characterized by tortuous but decisive external lines with extraordinary performance. Realized through the collaboration of the staff of Pershing, architect Fulvio De Simoni, Advanced Yacht Technology, and Centro Stile of the Ferretti Group team of architects and designers. Since launched in 2004 Pershing 115 has won good acknowledgments as it best embodied the style of the brand in terms of the richness of detail, the use of valuable materials and innovation in the external shape which creates new spaces below deck. The flagship of the Pershing fleet boasts of four cabins; owner suite and three guest suites, which can sleep a total of nine people, and three crew rooms with five beds. A distinctive feature of every Pershing 115 is the personalisation that contributes in making the flagship of the fleet a unique product, varying from one model to another and which can be customized according to the owner’s needs. Particularly, the latest hull nine model distinguishes itself for its shiny white pearl coloured hull, a distinctive feature of the new Pershing models, donating luminosity and Energy to the vessel profile. Inside, the main hall has been renovated up to the finest details but its characteristic layout with a banded coal French window at the stern, which separates the cockpit from the main hall, has been kept. The large cockpit itself, which is about 24 metres squared, is even more spacious and enjoyable, both during the day and in the evening, with its vast covered area made unique by its lateral carbon fittings and seating, a teak table for 10 people, a bar, a large solarium and, for the first time, a 32” in-built TV placed on the ceiling on the left. The upper sun deck, an independent and functional area where one can make the best out of moments of relaxation, is also equipped with an innovative dash board and a wide seating space in-built in a comfortable piece of furniture, with an in-built ice box and four chaise lounge facing the stern. Among these structural innovations, which required the specific support of the Pershing technical staff, it is worth mentioning the highly innovative entertainment and domotic system, which once again highlights the constant commitment of the brand to offer forefront products. In fact, this vessel is equipped with a centralized audio and visual system that can be managed by a “touch panel” with AMX technology and it can be integrated with the installation of a “Kaleidoscape” system which archives music and dvds like in a library. Moreover, the system actively controls, through the same touch panel, the Lutron light system, electrical curtains, air conditioning and a closed-circuit video camera system, which makes it possible to watch the onboard nautical maps and the bridge radar routes on the dash board. Finally, on this vessel there is an onboard monitoring system for parameters such as the closure of the porthole and the external doors, the tension level of the batteries and the smoke detector. Pershing 115 hull number nine is powered by two MTUs which total 7400hp with the applied thrust of the two Kamewa Rolls Royce water-jet propellers with a maximum velocity of about 38 knots. A unique characteristic of this mega yacht is the presence of a Vericor TF50 gas turbine, typically used in the aeronautical sector, capable of developing a power of over 5100 hp, with a central water-jet propeller propulsion. Its use requires specific accessories and mechanical parts and technologies that are integrated within the system which includes, for example, the titanium drain, the axis and the reducer. New Model: Filippetti 26 Navetta

Filippetti has launched the first model of the new Navetta green series line the 26 Navetta in an event held in Rimini on December 2010. This yacht is designed by Pietro Mingarelli in an ecological and Eco-sustainable manner, complying with rigorous principles of environmental, safety and quality regulations, without ever losing sight of the tastes of the owner. The 26 Navetta has therefore been certified with Rina Green Star Yacht certificate a noble accreditation that guarantees environmental protection and energy savings. The 26 Navetta will have two large spaces available. The first is the imposing owner's cabin on the forward deck, which occupies close to half of the total volume of the yacht and is further divided into two areas. From the cabin, by way of a descending internal ladder, a second large space is accessed, which includes a bath with shower or jacuzzi tub and sauna, locker and a further bay. The other large space is found in the stern, on the upper deck. Usually destined for storage of the tender, on the 26 Navetta this has become a large solarium dedicated to the relaxation of the owner and guests. On the 26 Navetta the other undisputed protagonist is natural light which is found everywhere, from the owner's stateroom the windows run 180 degrees toward the bow, to the lower deck cabins, including the VIP cabin located mid ship which features large vertical style port holes. Power is from twin Cat 825hp engines which give a 14 knots top speed, 12 knots cruise, and a range of 2500 nautical miles at the best economic performance.

Projects: Cayman 50 Express, Cayman 57 HT

Italian Cayman Yachts presents two projects both over the fifteen meter dimensions, and to be completed by the end of this year. Pictured above are the renderings for the 50 Express which will also launch this new range by Cayman along the previous Flybridge, Hardtop, and Walk Around lines. The 50 Express is designed by Hot Lab studios. The interior will go out of the usual schematics of this size offering a privacy orientated plan with a lower deck having only two cabins; an owners suite to mid ship, and VIP room to fore. Below is also space for the galley, and the crew room located to mid ship behind the owners cabin, this being in a separate area and having the entrance from the aft part of the saloon. The main deck will be dedicated to living with an L-shaped saloon, and three part patio door joining this area with the aft cockpit. For the 50 Express, Hot Lab keep the much appreciated Cayman walk around deck with a very interesting fore deck settee which is surely hard to find in this size. Power is from twin Cummins 600hp with Cayman estimating a 33 knots top speed with this set up. The Cayman 57 HT will be the third model to join the hard top line which was presented in 2008 with the launch of the 75 flagship designed by Carlo Trezzi. As the 50 Express the 57 HT sees Cayman again trust design duties to Hot Lab studio. Here Hot Lab go for a more modern aggressive exterior, but keeping in line with concepts seen on the 50, as the settee on the fore deck. Interior space is for a three cabin plan, with the third cabin looking to be a transformable affair which can open up and be as a small settee on the lower deck. The galley is located below in between the masters suite to mid ship, and VIP room to fore. Power is from twin Cummins 715hp with Cayman estimating a very promising 33 knots top speed with this set up.

New Model: Prestige 350 Flybridge

A very interesting and expected model from Prestige, this is the 350 Flybridge. Designed by Garroni, with the help of J & J, and Je De Premmorel for the concept the new 350 Flybridge builds on the hull lines of the early 2010 launched NC11, and is to be the entry level smallest model of the Prestige brand. Very stylish looks for a small size flybridge motor cruiser, a spacious aft deck, and interiors are the 350 Flybridge strong points. Living spaces on the main deck offer a C-shaped settee to port side, bar, and helm station to starboard. Below is an L-shaped galley, and the two cabins; owners room to fore, and double guest to port side. In every area the 350 Flybridge surprises for its spaces considering the length of just over eleven meters and this is acquired thanks to the use of stern drive propulsion, which also give better efficiency to the positive, but have higher annual servicing costs on the negative. Power is from twin 220hp Volvo engines which as I said for the NC11 do look a bit small for this size and weight flybridge motor cruiser.

Project: Sea Force IX 61.5 Series

The Sea Force IX 61.5 Series project is a capable tournament caliber open type Sportfish yacht. Sea Force IX even in its smaller project offers diversity in the 61.5 Series assuring a substantial amount of fuel, and efficient running slip i.e hull shape. New Model: Colombo 36 Bellagio

Colombo owned by the Sarnico Group since 2007 continues the revamp of the line as started with the 26 Bellagio. The 36 Bellagio is a new sport model, the third coming from the new owners and measures 38 feet in length with a displacement of seven tons plus. As the previous 26 Bellagio, and 37 Alldays the two models coming since the Sarnico Group ownership, design is trusted again to top class Italian architects Nuvolari Lenard for the super structure, and Victory for the hull. The accommodation offers an open plan interior with a loft style cabin offering two berths. Interesting is also the cockpit with a spacious arrangement and the invisible bathing platform, which flips around and becomes like a nice private beach. Power is twin Volvo 300hp engines with IPS pods which give cruising speeds of 31 knots, and max a of 36.

Project: Mulder 73 Flybridge

Mulder has received a new order to build a 73 Flybridge for a client from Australia, having previously delivered a yacht to a client in New Zealand two years ago. The all aluminium yacht is an entirely new design by Guido de Groot and Ginton Naval Architects, and will be delivered in the second quarter of 2012. The Mulder 73 Flybridge shown above in project rendering will have a length of 22.30 m overall and a beam of 6.20 m. It will be equipped with two Caterpillar C18 engines with 1150 hp each to achieve a maximum speed of around 22 knots. With a fuel tank capacity of 12,000 litres, the yacht will have a range of approximately 3,200 nm at a speed of nine knots. The interior of the Mulder 73 Flybridge will consist of an owner’s stateroom, a VIP suite and a guest cabin, each with their own bathroom. The yacht will also offer spacious quarters for two or three crew members aft. The saloon has a luxury L-shaped sofa and three armchairs. Situated opposite the dining area, the galley is equipped with all the latest equipment and has a door to the gangway. The entire interior will be finished in cherry. The 73 Flybridge is Mulder Shipyard’s second project for the Australasia region. In the spring of 2007 the yard delivered a Mulder 76 Flybridge to a client from New Zealand, which later took part in the Auckland International Boat show. In addition to these projects, Mulder has various other yachts under construction with delivery dates in the coming years. Despite the recession, the yard has a strong order book that includes eight yachts that have yet to be delivered.

New Model: Dellapasqua DC9 SL

Italian shipyard Dellapasqua updates its entry level flybridge motor cruiser by presenting the new DC9 SL. This new Dellapasqua continues the genuine reliable product as offered by this Adriatic sea based builder since fifty years plus, and continues its follow up to the classic Hunt deep Vee shape. Measuring an overall length of eleven meters, or 36 feet plus the 9 SL is constructed all in hand in traditional way. Inside the DC9 SL can sleep four persons in two separate cabins below. The master cabin is located to fore, and a twin bunk guest room is to starboard. On the main deck is a saloon with a dinette, and a galley behind the lower helm station. The 9 SL also impresses for its aft deck of very generous dimensions, and a very spacious bathing platform where is possible to stow a tender. Power is twin 400hp diesel engines in traditional line shaft propulsion.

Project: Windy 31 Zonda

Renowned Scandinavian boat builder Windy Boats, is going back to the future in 2011 with the new 31 Zonda project, a fast weekender which harks back to the glory days of the deep Vee hull. Focused on a deep, secure cockpit and a performance oriented helm position, the Zonda’s simple and elegant accommodation is designed around the needs of an overnight couple. There is a single sleeping cabin down below, with a big double bed, a generous shower compartment and a small galley. The cockpit seating is sheltered by a canopy on a folding stainless steel frame which is designed to be as effortless as possible to put up, and unobtrusive when stowed. A pure 24 degrees deep Vee hull can be powered by single or twin stern drive installations from Volvo, up to a maximum of 440hp. New Model: Palm Beach 65 Flybridge


Palm Beach Motor Yacht from down under Australia has recently launched the 65 Flybridge model. This model builds on the standard 65 launched more or less a year ago, with Palm Beach adding a flybridge with second helm station up top. Traditional down East lobster boat lines are standard on all Palm Beach yachts and the 65 is no exception with a nice modern touch added by the coach roof windows. A six guest berth interior accommodation plan is standard on the 65, with an optional choice of having also a two cabins with galley down choice. A total of six different layouts exist for the interior, three for the lower and three for upper main deck. A two berth crew cabin is located to mid ship behind the guest cabins area. The additional flybridge although also customisable offers in standard plan a central helm with two co-pilot seats to both sides, an L-shaped dinette, and a free aft deck. Power is twin Volvo 700hp with IPS pods which deliver top speeds of 32 knots.
