Bavaria Generation Change

Generation change in the management of Bavaria Yachts as Norbert Leifeld will take over as CEO from Michael Müller. Together with Thorsten Gatz (CFO), he will manage the shipyard in future.  Bavaria Yachts continues to consistently pursue its successful strategy. The next milestone is the planned generational change in management. With immediate effect, Norbert Leifeld will take over as CEO from Michael Müller. Norbert Leifeld has been COO of Bavaria Yachts YACHTS since 2023 and previously worked for 15 years as a consultant in the areas of product strategy, product development and production at Germany's most renowned shipyard. Within Bavaria Holding, he also acts as President de la Societe for the French catamaran shipyard Nautitech. Thorsten Gatz has been responsible for the shipyard's finances since 2022.  Michael Müller took over as CEO of Bavaria Yachts in 2019 and played a key role in the development of all new sailing yachts in the successful Bavaria C-Line and the motorboats in the new BAVARIA SR-Line. From 1 July, Michael Müller will join the Advisory Board of Bavaria Yachtbau Holding under the leadership of Advisory Board Chairman Kai Brandes (CMP). He will therefore continue to be available to the Bavaria management as a contact person. In addition, Dr Hans-Peter Mertens (Chairman of the Stürtz Group, among others) has been appointed as a further member of the Advisory Board.   "On behalf of the Advisory Board of Bavaria Yachts Holding and the entire workforce, I would like to express my thanks and deep respect to Michael Müller for his work as CEO of Bavaria. The challenges of recent years - be it the pandemic, supply chain problems or the coronavirus hype - have always been very demanding. Bavaria has mastered them all. I am delighted that he will continue to support us as a member of the Advisory Board," explains Kai Brandes, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Bavaria Yachts and Managing Partner of the Berlin-based investor CMP.  "At the same time, I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Norbert Leifeld as our new CEO. We have been working successfully with him for over seven years. During this time, Norbert Leifeld has successfully managed numerous important projects for Bavaria Yachts to the great appreciation of employees, management, suppliers and our dealers. No one knows Bavaria Yachts and the yacht industry from different perspectives as well as he does," continues Kai Brandes.  With its new organisation, Bavaria Yachts feels that it is ideally equipped for the future. By successfully implementing "breathing" production to compensate for fluctuating market requirements in production, Bavaria Yachts already prepared itself two years ago for the challenges of a cooling economy.  The current model range of sailing and motor yachts, which meets the current market requirements of discerning customers, is now to be expanded to include e-drives in order to attract new customers. In future, the focus will be more on maintaining and acquiring new customers. The Bavaria Family of future and existing owners will benefit from an optimised customer journey, an expanded network of Bavaria Service Centres, a wider range of aftersales services and training courses.

Benetti Wins Robb Report Best of the Best

Benetti’s new project was selected for the award in the Marine - Best Interiors category by the prestigious Robb Report US Best of the Best jury.  In an industry first, B.Loft 65M transfers the architectural language of modern-day lofts to a megayacht.  Now in its 37th year, the Robb Report US Best of the Best award continues to celebrate excellence in the world of luxury, from yachting to design and art. This year, in the Marine – Best Interiors category, Benetti won the award for the innovative B.Loft 65M, a project that won the jury over with its city-loft-inspired style and lines defined by striking outdoor terraces.   Designed in collaboration with Cassetta Yacht Designers, Benetti’s B.Loft 65M concept conjures up a contemporary residential aesthetic epitomised by the Upper Deck. The idea of the loft originates from an analysis of the very concept of comfort, interpreted as the ability to fully enjoy one’s leisure time - specifically, in this case, on board the B.Loft. This approach led to the creation of spaces that speak a familiar and comfortable language, in line with the expectations of luxury and elegance of the guests.  Thanks to the unbelievable ceiling height touching four metres in the Skylounge, headroom of up to 2.70 metres in the master cabin and the long glass corridor, natural light floods into the interiors, creating airy, welcoming spaces. This new architectural language, which introduces characteristics never seen before on a 65-metre megayacht, is also reflected in exterior lines characterised by different levels that recall sea view terraces in dream villas.  This award recognises Benetti as an industry innovator, confirming its role as a benchmark with a proud tradition of anticipating and heralding in new on-board lifestyle trends.

Bilgin Takes Center Stage at International Yacht and Aviation Awards

Bilgin is thrilled to announce that its magnificent 50-metre superyacht, Eternal Spark, has received a prestigious accolade at the 2025 International Yacht & Aviation Awards. As the latest addition to the Bilgin 163 series, Eternal Spark features interiors by the award-winning Italian design studio Hot Lab and was named winner in the “Master Cabin” category.  In addition to this success, Hot Lab, the creative studio behind Eternal Spark’s interior design, was also honoured with the title of “Designer of the Year” at the same ceremony. This double triumph is a proud testament to the yacht’s refined elegance and the studio’s visionary approach to design.  Designed with Hot Lab’s distinctive philosophy of “Architecture for Voyagers,” Eternal Spark's interior spaces are characterized by clean architectural volumes, exquisite soft lines, and a refined minimalist aesthetic. With an impressive palette of over 200 unique materials meticulously curated and integrated throughout the vessel, the interior design transcends mere opulence, emphasizing a profound commitment to craftsmanship and unparalleled attention to detail.  Enrico Lumini, Partner and Design Director at Hot Lab, remarked, “Bilgin has allowed us to work in peace with the new owner of this splendid 163 feet, which will be modern, rich, but warm at the same time. Small quantities of wood, but treated as if they were precious inlays. Natural leather, but embossed, giving it a much more refined look, and then soft sense of balance. This is how I would define the Bilgin 163: a perfect balance of shapes, soft colours and great richness of detail.”

Bilgin Best Design Detail Award

Bilgin team is incredibly proud to announce that the 50-meter superyacht, Eternal Spark, has won one of the most competitive Robb Report Best of the Best awards for 2025. Specifically it was named the Robb Report’s pick for the “Best Design Detail” in the Marine category with its stunning central staircase.  “She truly makes us proud!” exclaimed Tuğba Şengün Topgül of Bilgin Yachts. “This award from Robb Report underscores our commitment to unparalleled craftsmanship and innovative design.”  The exterior design and naval architecture by Unique Yacht Design, complemented by the interior expertise of Hot Lab, the yacht embodies a harmonious fusion of aesthetics and functionality. Emrecan Özgün, CEO of Unique Yacht Design, highlights the innovative features of the Eternal Spark from their latest semi-custom series: “Our design focus centers on creating expansive, sheltered open decks, as demonstrated by the 499 GT platforms. These yachts, exemplified by a superbly designed charter vessel in our range, offer an outstanding layout with ample spaces to enjoy daily activities.

Cheoy Lee Pushes Boundaries in Yacht Design

Famed for its robust, finely crafted, globally cruising motoryachts, Cheoy Lee Shipyards draws on 150 years of boat and shipbuilding experience to deliver advanced and highly capable yachts from 19 to 60 metres across two key brands.  Cheoy Lee has remained family run since it was founded in the 1870s, with current management made up of the family’s fourth and fifth generations. Its testament not only to the longevity of the brand – which encompasses everything from yachts and superyachts to commercial vessels and workboats – but also to the forward-thinking ethos the shipyard has always applied to its builds.  After starting with yachts constructed in teak, Cheoy Lee was one of the first builders to explore and embrace GRP in the 1960s, becoming a leading brand for GRP yachts and helping pioneer glass and foam sandwich construction. That drive to break new ground has continued throughout the shipyard’s history, and it comes in all aspects of vessel design and construction, from the adoption of hybrid technologies for the ferries it builds to the application of hybrid styling and design to its latest range of modern explorer yachts.  Today, Cheoy Lee channels its heritage, history of innovation and highly skilled workforce into creating sublime, award-winning yachts, with two key brands – Cheoy Lee Yachts, which continues the lineage of the shipyard’s superyachts and custom builds with world-girdling vessels up to 60 metres finished to the highest standards; and CL Yachts, launched in 2018 and specializes in series production of striking, exquisitely refined modern GRP yachts. Quality and safety remain key considerations – the yachts are built in ISO-certified production facilities, and all are built to class with RINA-certified GRP hulls.

Ferretti Group and Flexjet Unveil Private Jet and Helicopter Interiors

Flexjet, a global leader in private aviation, and luxury yacht leader Ferretti Group, have unveiled their highly anticipated, design collaboration Riva Volare - a unique cabin design for Flexjet’s aircraft interiors, inspired by the iconic Riva motoryachts.  This bespoke design project is a lavish realisation of the official partnership formed in May 2024 between the two luxury leaders, which each share a passion for high performance, exceptional craftsmanship and sleek, bold design.  Part of Flexjet’s range of customised and boutique-style LXi Cabin Collection™ interiors, Riva Volare is fitted aboard one of the private aviation leader’s Gulfstream G650 ultra-long-range jets, seating up to 12-15 passengers and capable of flying for up to 14-16 hours, connecting New York and Tokyo, London, Singapore or Milan.  The interior is also presented in two of Flexjet’s Sikorsky S-76 helicopters, one in Florida and the other featuring in a new helicopter operation based in Milan, serving Italy and the French Riviera. This represents the growth of the company’s helicopter division into mainland Europe, adding to its existing rotary operations in London, New York and Florida and The Bahamas. The new service area will cater to growing demand from the company’s existing jet Owners and from new clients for helicopter flights in Italy and the South of France during the summer months, with Ferretti Group clients benefitting from preferential access.  The finished design was revealed on Thursday, June 26 at an official unveiling event at Milano Prime Linate Airport, featuring a static display of the Flexjet Gulfstream G650, Sikorsky S-76 helicopter and a Riva motoryacht, the Aquariva Special. The event took place in the hangar recently built for Flexjet’s sister company and aircraft management and maintenance provider Sirio, by SEA Prime - the leading Italian and European business and general aviation infrastructure manager, operating under the brand Milano Prime.  The bespoke design scheme is the refined result of a combined vision and months of expert craftsmanship by in-house designers at both brands. Riva Volare features artisanal materials and bold patterns, textures and colours, that draw on the classic silhouettes and recognisable design elements of the beloved Riva motoryachts, blending details from the iconic 1960s Aquarama with the contemporary elegance of the Aquariva.  Kenn Ricci, Chairman of Flexjet said: “I have long admired the iconic style of Riva, and seeing this brought to life in our aircraft, is nothing short of exceptional. At Flexjet, design is more than an aesthetic bonus, it’s integral to the elevated experience we offer. The launch of Riva Volare in collaboration with Ferretti Group is a tangible expression of our shared commitment to evolving truly memorable experiences for UHNW and selective travellers. With Flexjet in our 30th year, Riva Volare is not only a celebration of a timeless design icon, but also a bold statement of where we're going - defining the standard for what it means to be a modern luxury brand.”  Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group CEO, added: "Riva style is an expression of elegance that infuses every project with class and exclusivity, both at sea and on land, and now at high altitude as well. Riva Volare is another splendid result of our collaboration with Flexjet, a brand with which we share the same passion for constantly raising the quality standards we offer our customers. Contemplating the sky and the clouds while immersed in the world of Riva is an incredibly beautiful and satisfying experience, an absolute must.”  Each element of the Riva Volare design - from the colour palette to the tactile materials - has been thoughtfully curated to evoke timeless Riva cues, featuring contrasts between light and dark, colour detailing, and luxurious textures of leathers and metals. A curated selection of Riva glass, china, and silverware will feature in the onboard hospitality experience on the Gulfstream G650, expertly presented by Flexjet’s Red Label Academy trained cabin servers.

Formula Passing the Torch

When it comes to high-profile designers, Formula has had quite a run, starting with Don Aronow, who started the company in 1962 and became the dominant figure in offshore racing boats for two decades.  Then in 1971, a twenties-something John Adams, freshly minted as a designer from the University of Cincinnati, entered the picture. He had a design degree but knew nothing about boats.  But, for the next fifty years his design vision greatly influenced the direction of American small and mid-sized recreational boats. Now, he's passing the torch to Michael Young -- a lucky designer who has some big shoes to fill.

Pershing Turns Forty

Pershing celebrates forty years of history and passion for the sea. It’s an anniversary that bears witness to the evolution of a brand with a revolutionary impact on the yachting world, through iconic boats featuring bold designs, cutting-edge technology and superlative performance. Not just a shipyard but an authentic expression of the sporty luxury and Italian style that have been defining incomparable on-board experiences for four decades.  It all started in the early 1980s, when three friends with a passion for boats – Tilli Antonelli, Fausto Filippetti and Giuliano Onori – founded Cantiere Navale dell’Adriatico 1°. In the early years they focused on repairing laminated wood boats. The breakthrough came in 1985 with the presentation, in partnership with yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni, of Pershing 45, a model as fast as a powerboat and as spacious as a motoryacht that marked the beginning of the Pershing era. Its success put the brand immediately into the spotlight, becoming synonymous with innovation, performance and design. The 1990s saw the start of the brand’s global expansion and in 1998 it became part of Ferretti Group, launching a period of growth and consolidation in the luxury motoryacht industry.  In 2012, the arrival of Weichai group further strengthened the brand’s presence on international markets, driving strong performance in Asia, America and Europe. A star at the industry’s leading international boat shows, Pershing continued to stand out for its ability to anticipate trends and meet the expectations of the most demanding owners in terms of performance, design and luxury. Examples are the introduction of the Generation X and GTX ranges and the construction of the first superyacht, confirming the shipyard's ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of nautical innovation.  Since Pershing unveiled the brand’s first model in 1985 (Pershing 45), the shipyard based in Italy’s Le Marche region has proved its ability to combine extreme performance, advanced technology and cutting-edge design. Over the last 40 years, Pershing has introduced game-changing innovations, such as the transition from in-line shaft drives to surface piercing propeller systems – a technology in which it is a world leader for recreational applications – and the introduction of water jets with a gas turbine on Pershing 115 (2004), capable of delivering over 5,100 HP. These are joined by the introduction of the triple engine propulsion system on Pershing 108 (2011) and construction solutions that optimise weight, seakeeping and cruising comfort.  Pershing innovation also extends to design and on-board technology: right from the outset the brand has blended aesthetics and functionality with iconic solutions such as the hydraulic gangway (Pershing 45) and the concealed sliding glass door (Pershing 72), both developed in partnership with Giovanni Besenzoni’s company Besenzoni. Design-wise, Pershing has introduced sleek, sporty shapes with functional features such as the ‘Pershing wing’ (since Pershing 70), the retracting carbon fibre stairway and the pillar-free windscreen, while the boat interiors offer settings that are spacious, light-filled and carefully curated in every detail, not least thanks to collaborations with top brands including Poltrona Frau.  The Pershing fleet today consists of two ranges and a superyacht that embody the brand’s trademark innovation, performance and design. Generation X – comprising the 5X, 6X, 7X, 8X and 9X models – achieves the perfect balance between power, lightness and advanced technology thanks to the use of ultra-lightweight materials, integrated control systems and sleek lines. The more recent GTX range – which includes the GTX116, GTX80 and new GTX70 models – redefines the Sport Utility Yacht concept by enhancing comfort and liveability, but without compromising on performance. Completing the fleet, Pershing 140 is the brand’s first all-aluminium superyacht, built at the Ferretti Group Super Yacht Yard in Ancona. This masterpiece combining uncompromising sportiness, revolutionary architectural solutions and a focus on detail is a symbol of the brand’s boldest vision.  For four decades, Pershing boats have been taking shape in Mondolfo at a world-class production facility adjacent to the storied shipyard. Designed by architect Sandro Sartini, the production site spans over 84,000 square metres today and contains four buildings, two paint booths and a testing tank. Every space is designed to combine technology, function and aesthetics, with tailor-made solutions for the various Pershing ranges, such as the fourth building dedicated to the GTX series, which has the capacity to build yachts up to 36 metres in length.  With a total of 27 stations used to build 27 yachts in parallel, the shipyard can handle highly specialised processes such as PPG-certified dry painting, which ensures that Pershing yachts have a level of finish comparable to that of luxury cars. The testing tank is used to perform comprehensive technical tests that ensure maximum reliability before Pershing yachts are launched from the nearby port of Fano.  By introducing technological innovations, unveiling revolutionary models and evolving the brand’s storied shipyard, for forty years Pershing has continued to look beyond the horizon, to where the sea meets the future.

Pershing from New York to Hamptons

The skyscrapers of New York provided a spectacular backdrop for the arrival of Pershing GTX80 at the renowned North Cove Marina in Manhattan, in the beating heart of the Big Apple. The event marks the start of an exclusive journey organised in Pershing’s 40th anniversary year.  For two days, on June 17 and 18, Pershing GTX80 – the second model in the innovative Sport Utility Yachts range – was moored in the famous Manhattan harbour against the backdrop of the iconic New York skyline, attracting the attention of enthusiasts, industry experts and crowds of curious onlookers. This spectacular debut shines a spotlight not only on the bold, contemporary design of the yacht, but also on how it combines comfort, sportiness and outstanding performance.  The yacht will continue on its journey along the magnificent Atlantic coast of the United States, calling at some of the most exclusive East Coast destinations, including Montauk from July 1 and Newport from July 12, returning to the elegant Hamptons, a destination synonymous with American summer luxury. Every port of call will be an opportunity to showcase Pershing’s signature revolutionary spirit and Italian know-how.  The journey of the Pershing GTX80 along the East Coast can be followed on the social media channels of Pershing and Allied Marine.

Riva Private World Premier in Sarnico

An unforgettable night on the shores of Lake Iseo with the extraordinary Riva Private World Première, during which four new yachts were unveiled at the storied Sarnico shipyard in front of a carefully selected and enthusiastic audience of international owners and guests.  The stars of the evening event were the four magnificent premières ready to give all enthusiasts something to dream about: Aquariva Special, Riva Cento, Riva 58’ Capri and Iseo Super.  Born and built at the Sarnico shipyard, the new boats made their debut in a spectacular night-time parade on the lake led by Riva Iseo Super, the 27-foot runabout with the same innovative design heritage as Riva El-Iseo – the brand’s first full electric boat presented in 2024 – which renews the Riva Iseo legend with new technology and style solutions.  The second debut was the Aquariva Special, the only 'Special’ since the Aquarama. This iconic yacht, which has been in production for an incredible 24 years, has been given a refined restyling by Officina Italiana Design, the studio that has been designing Riva boats on an exclusive basis for over 30 years, with expert brushstrokes that have given some of the stylistic features and the design language a more contemporary feel, without affecting their core identity.  Next up was the limited-edition Riva Cento, created to celebrate the 100th unit of the Rivamare 38’, one of the brand’s most beloved models. The main features include new functional and style details – such as the leather-coloured cushions and the beach area with chaise longues and a retractable gangway – pointing up the yacht’s elegance and further enhancing the experience on board.  Bringing the parade to a close was the new Riva 58’ Capri, the first model in the new sport open yacht generation, which brings together performance and maximum comfort while retaining the range's sporty and elegant DNA, combining it with a sleek, more sculpted and contemporary design.  “This night of incomparable beauty will live on in the history of the Sarnico shipyard. Four Riva in one night are an absolute delight and the happiest of events for everyone who loves yachting and Italian excellence. I can’t wait for Aquariva Special, Riva Cento, Riva 58’ Capri and Iseo Super to spark the same excitement in yacht enthusiasts that I felt tonight with all our friends and guests at this incredible Private World Première. And because beauty begets beauty, we also admired the flyover of the new Gulfstream G650 with interiors designed by Riva, another magnificent result of the collaboration with Flexjet, our top-tier private aviation partner,” commented Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi.  Another great success was the immersive live music show created by Paris-based agency Inspiration Music & Arts, with artistic direction by Jimmy Bitton, which transformed the Riva shipyard into a theatre under the stars. The fine food and wine experience created by the Alajmo brothers treated guests to a sensory journey through haute cuisine and creativity. JLR brand Range Rover, the event’s automotive partner, showcased several models, testifying to the affinity between two brands with a shared commitment to innovation and timeless style.  The evening event sealed the partnership between Ferretti Group and Flexjet, a global leader in private aviation, a year on from the signing of the agreement that launched the collaboration between the two brands under a banner of excellence and uncompromising performance. The celebrations began on the morning of June 26 with the presentation to the press of the new Gulfstream G650, Flexjet’s exclusive ultra-long-range private jet, and the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter, both fitted out for the first time with “Riva Volare” interiors inspired by the iconic Riva yachts. The event took place at Milano Prime Linate Airport, in the hangar recently built for Flexjet’s sister company and aircraft management and maintenance provider Sirio, by SEA Prime - the leading Italian and European business and general aviation infrastructure manager, operating under the brand Milano Prime. Crowning the Private World Première the Gulfstream G650 soared above the shipyard, the perfect symbol of the synergy between sky and sea.

Riva Classiche Raves with Guido Capellini at Pavia-Venezia Raid 2025

The Pavia-Venice 2025 International Powerboat Raid has ended with a feat that will go down in international powerboat history: Guido Cappellini, at the helm of the Team Abu Dhabi boat, set a new record for the world’s longest race on inland waterways, with a time of 1 hour, 41 minutes and 45 seconds at an average speed of 207.26 km/h.  In this great sporting adventure, Riva Classiche raced with the ten-time Formula 1 Powerboat world champion along the entire route from Pavia to the Venice Lagoon, covering over 400 kilometres on inland waterways including the Ticino and Po rivers.  Cappellini beated the previous record (1 hour, 44 minutes and 45 seconds at an average speed of 203.34 km/h) set in 2005 by Dino Zantelli. Before him, back in 1931, Serafino Riva set the record with Giuseppe Guerini in the outboard category at an average speed of 51.660 km/h, before going on to triumph again the following year with Luigi Calvi aboard the AZ powerboat designed at the Riva boatyard and fitted with an Elto 1000 cc engine.  The partnership between Riva and Cappellini, built on passion, innovation and tradition, dates back to 2005, the year the powerboat champion set the world water speed record (still undefeated to this day) on Lake Iseo, where the Riva shipyard is located in Sarnico. On June 2, twenty years later, a new record was set in the same spirit of daring, technical expertise and passion for the water.

Riva Launches 100th Rivamare

The 100th Rivamare, a modern icon of Riva style and a fantastic long- seller, is a milestone that Ferretti Group celebrated in Sarnico with a ceremonial launch attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jiang Kui and representatives of majority shareholder Weichai, who congratulated the workers and management.  “This magnificent day celebrates the huge success for Riva and Ferretti Group as a whole. Owners know this and are rewarding us even at the start of 2025, with our order book reaching a record €1.7 billion. Another key factor behind Ferretti Group's extraordinary growth in recent years is the launch of many new models: at the end of the month, we will unveil three new Riva models, confirming the great vitality of the Group and our ongoing drive to strengthen our leadership in beauty and innovation," concluded Mr. Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group

Sanlorenzo Casa in Venice

Casa Sanlorenzo, a creative hub dedicated to Sanlorenzo’s artistic and cultural initiatives, has ‘launched’ in Venice. The opening of the restored building – a Sanlorenzo Arts project – was timed to host events during the first Venice Climate Week (June 3-8) and honour the lagoon city’s hosting of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition (May 10-November 23).  During Venice Climate Week, Casa Sanlorenzo hosted three days of ‘Sanlorenzo Talks’, a series of meetings and conversations dedicated to the themes of ecological transition and sustainable innovation, and including leaders from the science, culture and industry sectors.   Facing the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute, Casa Sanlorenzo is a converted 1940s mansion with 1,000sqm of indoor space and a 600sqm outdoor area, and was restored by architect Piero Lissoni – Sanlorenzo’s Art Director – and the Lissoni & Partners studio.  The Italian shipyard created Casa Sanlorenzo “because a brand like Sanlorenzo, a worldwide leader in luxury yachting, can no longer limit itself to producing excellent products but must take on an active cultural role”. The venue houses a private apartment plus indoor and outdoor space for exhibitions, shows and Sanlorenzo’s contemporary art collection.  Massimo Perotti, Sanlorenzo’s Executive Chairman, said: “Our aim with Casa Sanlorenzo is to offer a reference point for initiatives linked to the world of Sanlorenzo Arts, an entity conceived with the goal of celebrating and supporting the union between art, design and culture, where innovation and creativity can flourish without limits.  “Casa Sanlorenzo becomes a place where one enters to stop, reflect and share. A space of research, where art does not simply adorn but rather interrogates. Where design does not impress, but guides. Where beauty is never for its own sake but the bearer of ethics.   “In an increasingly virtual world, we wanted to invest in presence, in meaningful encounters, and in shared experiences. Because we believe that authenticity requires substance, time and human connection. And Venice is the perfect place for this project.”  The restoration honoured the building’s history, so brick facades were enhanced and some original elements, such as part of the floors, were preserved. Where restoration wasn’t possible, “spaces were reinterpreted with a contemporary architectural language that enhances the exhibition function, creating a flexible and welcoming environment”, Sanlorenzo stated.  Concrete floors alternate with Palladian and Portoro marble, while white walls highlight the artwork on display. An adaptive lighting system allows light to be modulated according to exhibition needs, enhancing the visitor experience, while a new glass-and-steel staircase is among indoor highlights.  Outside, a bridge connecting Casa Sanlorenzo to the surrounding area is another key element of the restoration. Also designed by Lissoni & Partners, the contemporary structure was inspired by the pre-existing one to maintain a strong connection to Venetian history.  Piero Lissoni said: “I believe the opportunity to build a bridge in Venice for Sanlorenzo Arts is more unique than rare. The bridge is, in fact, an incredibly complex architectural staircase, and to me, it also embodies a range of other meanings.  “Besides connecting two different points, the bridge connects different worlds. It is no coincidence that the expressions ‘creating cultural bridges’ and ‘making human bridges’ are used. This bridge for me is not simply a vehicle to transport people but a cultural bridge, an ideal bridge.”  Made entirely of prefabricated metal and already assembled, the bridge features a surface of Istrian stone, typical of the city, and a wooden handrail crafted to resemble an oar, to highlight the connection with the water.  Its ‘humpback’ shape is reminiscent of medieval bridges, while the metal arch expresses a simple, linear aesthetic. Technologically advanced, the bridge uses calendering for the metal part, with steps in classical Venetian masegni made of Istrian stone and treated to prevent slipping. The metal has been protected against local weathering elements while maintaining a refined aesthetic.

Sunseeker Announces Two Hundred Job Cuts

Sunseeker has announced 200 redundancies.  Sunseeker International, based in Poole, Dorset, said support, leadership and management roles,  about 10% of its workforce would "regrettably" be affected by a restructuring programme.  It blamed "softening in global demand" following "political and economic uncertainties".  In December, the company announced 91 staff would be temporarily laid off due to "restrictions in the supply chain".  In a statement, Sunseeker International said its review would "better align our resources and enhance overall efficiency".  It continued: "The proposed restructure is part of our efforts to streamline operations and focus resources where they will have the greatest strategic impact."  "The changes are intended to reduce costs, as well as support long-term sustainability and growth.  The firm said it would focus on fulfilling its global order book and developing new models in its superyacht range.  The company employs 2,150 people in Dorset.  Chief executive Andrea Frabetti said: "I want to reassure our people, our partners and the wider community that Sunseeker remains deeply committed to manufacturing in Poole and Portland.  "These sites are, and will continue to be, at the heart of our operations as we evolve for the future."  A formal consultation with workers affected is set to begin.  Shortly before Christmas, the company said 91 of its employees would continue to be laid off until 27 January, and be paid 50% of their hourly rate during their layoff period.

Viking Sustainable Fuel Demo

Viking also showed its leadership during the Dealer Meeting and Sea Trial Event with a renewable diesel* demonstration and sea trial for the media aboard the Viking 48 Mack Attack, in collaboration with Mack Boring & Parts Company of Somerset, New Jersey. The Mack Boring–owned boat, powered by twin 1,150-hp Scania V8s, ran on renewable diesel for the event – proving that high-performance sportfishing yachts can operate with increased sustainability and no compromise in performance. The demonstration raised awareness about the viability and effectiveness of sustainable marine fuel, which will, in turn, help drive the expansion of refinery production and distribution infrastructure on the East Coast and beyond. *Renewable diesel is a clean-burning biofuel made from sources such as used cooking oil. It’s a drop-in replacement for petroleum diesel and requires no engine modifications.

Viking Demos Excel

Viking demo teams have delivered a dominant first half of 2025 – racking up victories on both coasts, across international waters and in some of the sport’s most elite big-game fishing tournaments.  Hull No. 1 of the Viking 74 made an unforgettable debut on the tournament circuit, with two wins and a second-place finish in its first five major events. Led by captain Sean Dooley, the Viking 74 began the season with a standout performance at The Shootout – Production Vs. Custom, beating a highly competitive fleet packed with custom sportfishers.  “This boat is turning heads,” said Drew McDowell (above, center), a long time fixture of the Viking demo program and General Manager of the Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers. “The ride is phenomenal, confident and smooth even when others are backing off. For a brand-new model to perform like this, right out of the gate, says a lot about how we design and build boats.”  The momentum continued at the Charleston Billfish Invitational, part of the South Carolina Governor’s Cup, where the boat took top honours and showcased its tournament-tuned layout, fishability and exceptional ride.  The Viking 74 remained in strong form with a second-place finish in the HMY Lowcountry Cup, reinforcing its status as one of the most consistent boats in the series.  Before the Viking 74 started making waves in the Atlantic, the Viking 64, Team Galati was on a tear in Costa Rica. Team Galati earned Top Boat honors at the Masters Angling Tournament, with captain Tony Carrizosa named High Boat Captain (46 releases in three days). The team also won the inaugural IGFA Open and finished second overall in the Los Sueños Signature Triple Crown (with Second and First Place finishes in Legs I and II, respectively, and daily wins throughout the series).  The Viking 64 Team Galati has now won three of the past five Triple Crown series – more than any other team in the event’s history.  From Central America to the East Coast, Viking’s demo boats have set the pace. And we're only halfway through 2025. The Viking 74 is handing off its momentum to the Viking 82, hull No. 9, as it prepares for the summer slate. Hull No. 1 of Viking's 82 series captured the Bermuda Triple Crown title in 2024. The new Viking will be ready to go as the first competition starts with the Bermuda Billfish Blast, scheduled for July 3–7, 2025.   Viking  will also have a second boat competing in the East Coast tournaments – the Viking 68 – which will join the Viking 82 in events such as the White Marlin Open and The MidAtlantic.  Click here to follow the action on social media. Project: Alia Yachts ALY651 65 meters

Alia Yachts is extremely proud to announce the sale of a fully custom 65m yacht. The deal was inked late 2024, and construction of the four-decker has already begun at Alia’s Antalya shipyard. The hull of ALY651 is taking shape in steel, and she will have an aluminium superstructure. When completed, she will become the new flagship of the yard. The unique project sees the Turkish superyacht builder reprising its recent collaboration with Sinot Yacht Design to deliver an exceptional lifestyle platform for this engaged owner. Diana Yacht Design of the Netherlands is developing the naval architecture for the yacht. Although the hull measures 65m, it will offer the volumes and amenities more usually associated with an 80m yacht. These include a prominent owner’s suite with a private lounge offering panoramic ocean views. The owner’s stateroom itself benefits from floor-to-ceiling glass for a profound connection to the surrounding seascape. There are four further guest cabins and a large main deck lounge, which provides a stylish and inviting space for relaxation and social gatherings. Outdoor spaces are similarly impressive and carefully designed to adapt to different needs throughout the day. A standout example is the swimming pool on the main deck aft, whose floor can be raised flush to create a large open area for entertaining guests. The yacht also offers a Jacuzzi with a view on the sundeck and another, larger one on the foredeck for the owner’s exclusive use. Sinot Yacht Design has worked with Alia Yachts and the owner to develop both the exterior design and an exquisitely detailed interior, with natural materials enhancing the overall refinement and craftsmanship for which Alia is known. It is a team which produced impressive results in the award winning 45m, delivered last year.  Currently Alia has eight custom yachts in construction from thirty to 65 meters, with this ALY651 being its largest build to date.

New Model: Cantiere delle Marche RJ155

Since its debut with the RJ130 the first model in the series which launched in 2021, the RJ line has swiftly earned a prominent place in the elite world of explorer super yachts. Designed to combine robust seafaring performance with contemporary elegance, the RJ series set a new standard for a modern expedition yacht.  The vessels’ striking lines, exceptional engineering, and long-range cruising capabilities captured the attention of industry experts and owners alike, immediately positioning the RJ series as a benchmark in its category. Riding the wave of the RJ130’s success, Cantiere delle Marche followed up with the delivery of two RJ115s. These 115-foot yachts maintained the rugged spirit of the original while introducing new levels of comfort, design finesse, and the highest level of customization, further solidifying the RJ line’s reputation for delivering vessels that blend explorer-grade performance with refined luxury, as both won the World Superyacht Award in 2024 and 2025. Now, capitalizing on the momentum and acclaim of its predecessors, Cantiere delle Marche announces the launch of the latest and most ambitious model in the series: the RJ155. Appropriately christened RJ, this 155-foot flagship represents the culmination of the yard’s vision: a super yacht that not only pushes the boundaries of size and capability but also stays true to the DNA that made the series a success. With its increased volume, extended range, and bespoke detailing, the RJ155 is set to redefine expectations yet again in the world of luxury exploration. With a length overall shy of 47m, she is the longest yacht built to date by the Ancona-based shipyard, although not for long as three Flexplorer 165 are in construction with the first scheduled for a 2027 delivery.  Though sleek in design the Cantiere delle Marche points out that the RJ155 is a true expedition vessel, which boasts the rugged capabilities of an oceangoing explorer: steel hull, aluminium superstructure, long range, generous storage, and top-tier equipment. Francesco Paszkowski shaped the yacht’s exterior, while Achille Salvagni crafted the custom interiors, including much of the loose furniture. With a total length shy of 47m, a displacement of 510t, and a Gross Tonnage just below 500GT, the RJ155 combines elegance with performance. Paszkowski’s design includes extended overhangs for shaded terraces, enhancing the indoor-outdoor connection. Naval architecture by Pierluigi Ausonio ensures seaworthiness, stability, and efficiency, aided by twin Caterpillar 1200hp engines, two pairs of electric stabilizers by CMC Marine, and a 66,400-litre fuel capacity.  She will cruise over 5,000 nm at 10 knots. Spread over three decks plus a large sundeck, RJ155 accommodates 12 guests in five suites, including an Owner’s suite with a private gym. Expansive outdoor spaces, tender storage, and a large lazarette for toys reflect CdM’s explorer DNA.

Project: Cayman 560 Sedan

Cayman Yachts presents the project for the 560 Sedan, as designed by Ferragni. The 560 Sedan represents the latest expression of versatility from Cayman and will be presented at the Genoa and Cannes boat shows this coming September. The renderings and technical drawings currently published show all the potential that the 560 Sedan represents, even though she is based on the 540 WA, which is an open sport yacht with T-Top, the new project shines with its special features from the closed Hard Top, the hydraulically opening roof, the pantograph doors on the sides of the double driving position to go directly outside onto the side-decks, the fixed or sliding and electrically opening side windows on the sides of the Hard Top, the possibility or otherwise of having retractable glass doors at the stern. All this shows the extreme flexibility of the Cayman 560 Sedan, which by opening all the glass surfaces, becomes an open sport yacht, but at the same time to be able to stay comfortably during the cruise inside the HT on the completely closed and protected deck. The environments and the organization of the spaces below deck are also flexible with possibility of two cabins layouts plus optional crew cabin or alternatively three cabins plus crew. Exteriors spaces are also larger with bow large sundeck having an adjacent chaise longue and a sofa with a foldaway table that creates an area of relaxation and privacy. The cockpit and the stern are very welcoming, the foldable sides increasing the available surface area for a width just short of seven meters, and in the centre the comfortable raised sundeck which hides, in the inboard version, the tender and, in the outboard version, the engines. The keel, with the characteristic inverted bow and the water lines are those of the highly tested hull Cayman 540 WA, which lives in this new version, a new experience. The platform is equipped with an electro-hydraulic immersion movement which facilitates both the movement of the tender and the ascent from the water. Two types of standard engines are proposed, from twin Volvo 480hp up 725hp, and or triple Mercury 600hp outboards.
