New Launch: Tankoa 72m S701 C102

The second yacht built on Tankoa’s seventy to 72 meter technical platform was sold in September 2016 to an experienced European client, his second build with the Italian Sestri Ponente super yacht builder, has now been launched and final delivery to her owner is on track for mid November 2018.  Designed by Francesco Paszkowski, Tankoa S701 has been chistened M/Y Solo and will make her international debut at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show in end September.  According to Tankoa's CEO, Euro Contenti this is a true recognition of the shipyard core values and power that irrevocably consists in building yachts with clients, not for clients.  Although S701 is reminiscent of the 69 meter M/Y Suerte project S693, Solo is three meters longer and has a volume of approximately 1600 gross registered tons. Other key differences include catalytic underwater exhausts allowing for substantial gains of volume on all decks, smell free and smoke free outdoor decks; a larger winter garden; large aft deck with six meter transverse glass pool, cut-down glass bulwarks sections for unobstructed sea views and a wide body upper deck allowing for an over sized panoramic salon. The longer waterline also allows for an optimized top speed in excess of 17 knots and reduced fuel consumption.

Project: Med Yacht 42

Med Yachts from South of France continue to evolve its range and present this project for a new 42 designed by Enrico Gobbi of Team4Design outside, naval architecture by Sofia Antipolis of Rivoyre Engineering, and hull by Gilles Vaton.  As the other Med Yachts the 42 is to be build in Poland by Galeon.  The news here is that the French company has trusted exterior styling and design to Enrico Gobbi, who takes over from Gilles Vaton still trusted with hull shape and previously also a designer of the Med Yachts 48 and 52 models and the projects of the 38 and 60 which so far have never materialized.  The Med Yacht 42 is by my understanding an evolution of the 38 project.  As all Med Yachts the 42 will feature full deck space use from fore to the stern bathing platform all connected by a walk around which takes you to the aft dinette, galley and central console both covered from the t-style hard top, up to the fore-deck sun-pad.  Below is space for two cabins located forward and midships, with an L-shaped settee, and a well sized shower head to starboard.  The Med Yacht 42 will be powered by twin Volvo 400hp with stern drives, or 370hp, 435hp or 550hp engines with IPS pod drives.

New Model: Prestige 590 Flybridge

Prestige continues to push forward and for 2018 the French builder launched three new models with the 590 Flybridge being its most important all new novelty.  Also new flagship of Prestige Flybridge line the 590 is again a design to Garroni, with naval architecture by JP Concepts and Prestige Engineering department.  The Italian Garroni who has been Prestige designer since the times it had Jeanneau as part of its name continued his recent theme for the French name, with the 590 sporting modern conservative lines dominated by a muscular hull with a never boring Italian straight shear line which dominates over the main deck and the low profile flybridge.  Measuring over eighteen meters in overall length the Prestige 590 Flybridge has two interesting features, both revolving around choice from the buyer.  The most important detail in this choice is the option to choose for a tender garage or a single berth crew cabin aft.  Another choice in the Prestige 590 Flybridge is that revolving around the guest accommodation deck to have a two or three bathroom arrangement.  In this case the third bathroom en-suiting the third cabin replaces the walk in closet for the VIP cabin located forward.  As all Prestige the 590 Flybridge continues the modest power theme of twin 600hp Cummins engines with ZF Zeus pods propulsion, which give a top speed of 29 knots and a cruise of 23.

Project: Marlow 70E Mk.2

Marlow Yachts is proud to announce an evolution of the species to one previous success with the 70E Mk2 project model, set to debut in the flesh and fiberglass at the Fort. Lauderdale Boat Show 2018. Since 2002 Marlow 70E has been a popular model, and now the US builder re-imagines the explorer yacht with newer technology, and more volume.  The Marlow 70E Mk.2 will impress a lot in the pilot house area, which will include a captains cabin, shower head, dinette desk, and an over sized central helm station looking forward. For 22 meters this is impressive and the interior volume continues in the split level main deck, which offers a spacious galley forward with full panoramic views of the surroundings.  The galley is joined by a dining lounge for eight located in the center part of the main deck.  Below is space for four guest cabins and three heads; midships full beam owners stateroom, a VIP suite forward, third twin berth cabin, and a twin bunk berth cabin to starboard.  Aft is space for one or two crew cabin to starboard, while to port we have a spare parts room.  Marlow 70 E Mk.2 also impresses with its full height engine room, and stand alone ship like engine layout.  The Marlow 70 E Mk.2 is to be powered by twin Man 1150hp engines, with line shaft propulsion and the Velocijet Strut Keels patented by the builder.

New Model: BlueGame BG62

Evolution of the BG60 launched in 2009, BlueGame presents the new BG62.  Three important novelties characterize the BG62 versus the 60, exterior and interior restyling by Zuccon design, larger extended bathing platform, and propulsion change from standard line shaft to Volvo IPS pod drives.  All new improvements have an impact.  Externally and visually Zuccon have done a great job and the BG62 now looks more aggressive and luxurious and less utilitarian then the 60.  The bathing platform extension adds a terrace by the water of important size.  The Volvo IPS pods keep the same performance values of the BG60 but in the process reduces 400hp in the power package, and yet still reach the same 35 knots top speed.

Project: Princess X95

It's been a long wait and Princess enters the always growing 28 to 29 meter with a less to 24 meter hull size raised pilot house super yacht class with the X95.  A project which creates new design ingenuity for the British boat builder helm'd by the long standing Bernard Olesinski design team and new entry Pininfarina, the Princess X95 brings the novelty in its semi wide body voluminous main deck, wave piecing planning hull shape, an unedited looking raised pilot house, and a fly deck which makes use of all the available length.  These fresh design solutions will give the Princess X95 40% more indoor volume, and ten per cent extra exterior space.  The X95 is offered with a standard four cabins, or optional five cabin arrangement. With the five cabin version the owners stateroom goes up on the forward part of the main deck, something much desirable today in both owner private used or charter commercial yachts of this size.  The Princess X95 is to be powered by twin Man 1900hp engines which will allow for a top speed up to 26 knots in light weight mode.

New Model: Cayman F920

Cayman Yachts continues its comeback and after the presentation of the S450 in the fall of 2017, it pushes harder for 2018 and presents a new flagship which enters the builder in super yacht territory, the new F920. A reminder here is that previous to this the largest Cayman ever build was the 75 HT launched in 2009.  Presented as a project in the fall of 2017 its been a non stop journey to go from concept to completion and the F920 making it in the water in August 2018.  Cayman and designer Ferragni unlike most offers in this 27 to 28 meter size presented what is a sporty looking flybridge super yacht with a raised pilot house that integrates very nice into the design.  Vertical minimal elements integrate into a straight shear-line which emphasizes an aggressive yet modern and in the same time light appearing upper structure.  In some aspects the F920 exterior profile reminds me of mid eighties Paolo Caliari, a nimble looking flybridge super yacht, that does not look to heavy up top.  Inside the Cayman F920 offers an interior with four cabins and an owners stateroom located at midships, very spacious VIP suite forward, and two guest cabins in between.  Cayman F920 will also be offered in a five cabin version, but currently the builder is not showing any plans for this. A crew lobby with two cabins is located at midships in between the engine room and the owners midships room.  The interior main deck is centered around a welcoming saloon, central dinette, day head to starboard, and a galley in the forward end part.  The pilot house is located three steps up centrally, and with this same stair case one can also access the spacious fly deck, which offers for the most part a free area on plan with helm and galley located to starboard, and a central dining table.  In the finishing the Cayman F920 has gone a long way to offer details from Studio Art for leather, lamps by Porta Romana, BandB and Minotti for sofas, and fabrics by Rubelli and Armani. The Cayman F920 hull one is powered by the large engine option of twin MTU 2600hp, but standard engine option is for Man twin 1900hp, and another optional being that of quadruple Volvo 1000hp units with IPS pod propulsion.

Improve-it = Sessa C68

Sessa continues its renovation, and after restyling the C38 and C44 in 2017, for 2018 its the turn for the C68.  Launched in 2009 as the new Sessa flagship to high acclaim and success with design by Christian Grande the C68 is beating the test of time admirably.  Still as today the flagship of Sessa and of the Yacht line the C68 gets improvement treatment by designer Davide Cipriani of Centrostiledesign who added new large hull side windows to the exterior.  Adding to the exterior stylistic improvements the C68 gets two aft deck choices from a classic arrangement of sun-pad with underneath tender garage, or having a second exterior dinette which can convert to a sun-pad.  The choices for the interior of the Sessa C68 has also increased with eighteen different choices of wood, leather, and fabric for the cabins.  In addition to this Sessa is also offered in five hull color choices two in gelcoat and three in paint.  Pictured above is in-fact the new silver metal paint option.
