Project: Baglietto T60

On 22 December Baglietto announced it secured the first order for the 60 meter super yacht T60 hull no. 10260. This sale followed the eight T52 order by just three days. The project of the T60 designed by Francesco Paszkowski was presented at 2022 Monaco Yacht show in September, and is to be the largest yacht ever build by the famous Baglietto. Currently it is also the largest offer in size at sixty metres long and weighing around 1,000 GT, the T60 is the natural evolution of the T52: the soft exterior lines have become even sleeker thanks to the lighter side buttresses that almost seem to be “hanging” on the water, blending in with the outer ceiling, while the black glass stripe incorporates the portholes a leit-motiv on Baglietto’s most recent yachts resulting in an even more streamlined profile. The layout is truly unprecedented with no enclosed spaces on this yacht; the floor-to-ceiling windows of both the main saloon and the upper deck open up completely and, once fully concealed, create highly versatile and interior environments that change constantly to harmonise with the surrounding landscape. The same informal areas that during the day allow to spend time outdoors and enjoy the sea to the fullest are easily converted to take on a more formal and stately ambience in the evening, while always maintaining a direct contact with the sea. On this innovative vessel, the beach area, the main saloon and the dining area are indeed conceived as one single free-flowing space: a 60 sqm beach lounge with a pool, a conversation area and a gym welcomes guests on board and leads them to the saloon, which can be opened up completely thanks to an elegant staircase, resulting in an almost 100 sqm space on two levels. The dining room, in turn, is fitted with a glazed surface that can be fully opened to create an extraordinary living area on the water, where guests can indulge both during the day and in the evening. The first T60 stands out in particular for her very original configuration, with the upper deck turned into a fully walkable Owners deck. The master stateroom is accessed from a lobby located amidships that also features a glass lift. The suite includes an office, a walk-in wardrobe, and a large bathroom with separate toilets; the night area has glazed surfaces that slide open to offer private access to an outdoor pool located forward. Windows that open entirely on 3 sides can also be found aft, where the lounge area opens onto the en plein air dining table, once more creating the smooth, seamless connection between interiors and exteriors that characterises the entire vessel. A hot tub and a sunbathing area complete this deck’s layout. Guests will find accommodation in four; two VIP and two guest cabins located on the main deck and a fifth guest cabin on the lower deck. This lower deck also hosts a massage room, the spacious galley fully equipped for haute cuisine and the crew quarters, including the crew mess, the dinette, and seven crew cabins sleeping thirteen. The entire under-lower deck houses the various technical areas: the storage room, wine cellar, baggage compartment, and cold rooms. The wheelhouse has been moved to the sun deck, where the captain’s cabin can also be found, as well as an additional dining area and the aft and forward sunbathing areas. The garage, which can fit a six meter tender, 2 jet skis and a rescue tender, has been arranged forward on the main deck, while a haute-cuisine kitchen can be found amidships. At the bow, it is certainly no surprise to find a touch-and-go helipad. The Baglietto T60 is to be equipped with two Cat engines that will push her to a maximum speed of sixteen knots and a cruise of twelve.

Project: Cayman S600

Presented as a project in 2020 as the S580, Cayman has since then evolved the project and renamed it as the S600.  But this was not just a name change and along the bathing platform extension Cayman also reworked all the window profiles, from those of the hull now larger to those of the upper structure, and also redesigned the air intake. On the the interior the Cayman S600 should be little if any different to the S580 with a three double cabins three head layout sleeping six with a full beam owners stateroom at midships.  A single berth crew cabin is to be located aft.  All the living, dining and galley is located on the main deck.  The Cayman S600 shares hull with the 2021 launched F580 flybridge model, and is to be powered by twin Man 800hp engines.  The first unit of the Cayman S600 is nearly completed with its World wide presentation scheduled for the Naples boat show in March.

Huckins New Web Site

Huckins presents its new World wide web showroom. Still a family owned and managed business Huckins is today operated by the founders grand daughter Cindy Purcell and her husband Buddy Purcell, who before marrying Cindy worked with Huckins from 1971 onwards. Founded in 1928 by 1886 Boston born native Frank Pembroke Huckins in Jacksonville, Florida, starting straight away with an innovative driven focus. Frank came from a family running a Lumberyard business, and shows his innovative spirit, inventing one of the first planning hulls calling it the Quadraconic and with it develops and patents wood lamination methods, what will be called as Fairform Flyers. In the same 1928 year as the founding Huckins delivers his first hull #1 a 42 foot capable of reaching twenty knots with a pair of 125hp diesel engines sold to Goodrich, the tyre manufacturer.  In 1946 Huckins moves to its current location on the Ortega river.  In 1960 Huckins starts the cold moulding building method by starting to use fiberglass sheets over mahogany build hulls and later on covering them with resin.  In December 1968 Huckins launches the largest sportfish yacht of the time the 80 foot Sportman 80 hull #396, which is also the second largest Huckins build to date.  In 1976 Huckins builds the largest cored hull of the time using Airex closed-cell PVC for the Motoryacht 76 custom build yacht.  In 1984 Huckins build the largest outboard powered yacht the Outboard 50 yacht powered by four outboards and reaching speeds up to 33 knots.  This is followed two years later with the launch of Yachtfisherman 78, a 23 meter motor yacht with Arneson surface drives.  Huckins largest build to date was the 1980 launched Sportcruiser 86.  In 1996 Huckins introduces the classic looking semi-production Sportsman, Atlantic, and Ortega 44 models based on the lines of the models from the 1950s.  Today two of these three models are still in production along with the 2020 introduced Sportsman 38, Sportfisherman 44, Wombat 45, and Limwood 56 flagship model.  Huckins website takes you around with the following buttons; New Construction, Pre-Owned, Service and Parts, Company, News, Video, Gallery, and Contact.  Huckins is also on social media with top right buttons taking you to its; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube pages.

New Launch: Admiral 74.85 m

In 2022 Admiral launched the 74 meter super yacht its largest build to date, which overcomes by just one meter the 2018 launched Planet Nine. Title m/y Kensho this fully custom Admiral 74 meter came into life from an owners expression who sketched twelve lines of design in Winter 2016 and then directly oversaw the project in every detail, redefining the boundaries of space, integrating ideas of residential and marine design, creating a union of form and function. The owner’s intuition has also been able to unite a strong team made up of naval architects and designers; Azure from the Netherlands and German firm Archineers.Berlin for the exterior, Jouin Manku for interior, and the technical part followed by Technical Marine UK and Trappmann Consulting. The idea on the largest Admiral build was to forget about the traditional layouts, with state-of-the-art features such as a single crew corridor and gangways only on the upper deck and optimizing the volume for luxury guest areas. Full height glass and lowered bulwarks where used wherever possible while all outside decks with their own specific functionalities make this fully custom 74 meter Admiral complete and efficient, and comfortable. Azure and Archineers.Berlin redefined outside looks, fusing aesthetics and technical feasibility, designing an exciting exterior schema that pushes the edges of elegance and soft lines embracing the purest forms of functionality. No exterior item has been compromised to make room for the technical outfitting of the yacht creating an unparalleled organic shape that comes from an unexplored underwater world. The exterior of this Admiral 74 meter was followed in the sixteen guest cabin interior with the experience and the youthful enthusiasm of fresh eyed newcomers, posing fundamental questions that challenge naval tradition, synthesising superior solutions from residential and naval architecture to trace new lines for quality living at sea. Generous high ceilings, panoramic views, intelligent and modular configurations that adapt to enhance space, intimacy and comfort. The lighting, curated by Voyons Voir Lighting Design, recreates a soft environment recalling the lighthouse that gave hope to the navigators of the past at sea. Noble materials are artfully transformed into rounded and organic forms. Teak, marble, onyx, silk, wool, bronze and glass a diverse material palette deployed in a deeply personal and poetic expression of design. From her exterior hardscape to her soft touch interior, the narrative is coherent, seamless and contemporary; each element orchestrated by the agency.

Two Men Die from Carbon Monoxide Poison

Two men where found dead on a five meter sport cruiser titled m/y Emma Louise poisoned by carbon monoxide, in Port Hamble on the night of January eleven.   The two men; 44 year old William Traynor and his brother Martin Stevenson where found unconscious in the covered cockpit of the sport cruiser the following twelve January morning at 10:30 hours.  The two men where reported travelling from there homes in Slough to spend two nights onboard on January ten.  Leaving the engine on in order to generate power, including of which was a portable radiator.  Unfortunately the engine also generated carbon monoxide build up, with marina staff finding the two men dead after the wife of William was not getting an reply to her repeated phone calls on that morning.  The engine of the boat was still running when the marina staff arrived on the scene.
Carbon Monoxide dead is not so uncommon as one might think with five persons reported dead in the same way in the last decade.  Carbon Monoxide is near to impossible to detect also because it is colourless, odourless, and tasteless, therefore boaters are advised to install a CO alarm and always leave a minimum of ventilation.
This sport cruiser is a mid nineties produced Fletcher 18 GTS.  This five meter sport cruiser offered a double berth forward and is powered by a single petrol gas engine with stern drive propulsion usually of about 150hp.

Eighty Boats Destroyed in Marbella Boat Storage Fire

Over eighty boats from five to twelve meters in size where destroyed and or severely damaged in a boat storage facility fire which broke out at around 1900 hours of Wednesday eleven January, at La Bajdilla in Marbella, South East of Spain.  Thirty fire fighters fought the fire which was controlled in about two hours, this reported under control at 2100 hours of the same evening.  The causes of the fire are unknown, although unconfirmed reports are saying it started in an unattended warehouse workshop adjacent to the facility.
The La Bajdilla boat storage facility belongs to the Marina Marbella Group, a boat and yacht dealer with operations in Spain, United Kingdom, and Portugal, founded in 1965 by two Swede brothers Lars and Goran Sundberg. Today Marina Marbella is still owned by the Sundberg family and is distributor for the following six brands; Sea Ray, Frauscher, Wajer, Sessa, Solaris Power, and Filippetti.
