New Model: Azimut 66 Magellano

Consistency is always key in a project, and Azimut since the launch of the 74 Magellano in 2009 has made it an important element for the range which today with the launch of this new 66 features a total of five models which start at 43 and end at 76 feet.  Since fuel prices started going up in 2005 we have seen loads of dual purpose hulls from various makers, trying to capture the right balance of owner operating enjoyment of the journey and the arrival to destination. A big challenge which Azimut overcomes thanks to consistency in style and technical element and the expansion of the Magellano range. The new 66 is an important arrival to the range, which designer Cor D. Rover has managed to give a unique important identity in the exterior looks since he designed the second model of the range, the now stopped in production 50.  Looking at details in the technical data one also notices how the Magellano project which with its first 74 model featured an international identity of designers, today is an all Italian affair, with Pierluigi Ausonio designing the semi planning dual mode hull of the 66 Magellano.

Project: Azimut 66 Magellano

In 2008, Azimut invented a new way of cruising with Magellano, the first "modern trawler". This extraordinary navigator features Dual Mode hulls, large interiors for extended stays, and a chic and timeless style that is yet again setting the trends in the nautical world. Magellano 66 completes the range, alongside the 43HT, 43 Fly, 53 and 76 models.  The first model will be available starting in the summer of 2015, but the design of the 66 Magellano started long ago. It is built on the same foundation that makes all Magellano collection yachts so special: the “Dual Mode” hull. The goal is to offer a versatile explorer yacht that provides a comfortable ride even in moderate to rough seas. Accomplishing this required developing keels that were profoundly different from those found on planing hulls. Magellano hulls soften the impact of waves, cutting through them with the vertical bow. At the same time, the significant forward volume minimizes pitch and provides constant buoyancy support, even when the boat is descending the trough of a wave. As a result, the water has a hard time reaching the main deck, providing a sense of security both to those piloting the vessel and their guests. The Magellano is a design that allows you to eat up the miles; the pleasure of cruising in its purest form, under the banner of Italian Design elegance.  The Magellano 66 takes this philosophy even further with surprisingly spacious interiors for its twenty meters length. The main deck is all on one level; it has a large sliding door facing out over the cockpit all the way to the bow where the pilot station and galley are located. The main deck features elegance, functionality and a breath-taking view of the horizon. Highlights include a large L-shaped sofa facing an impressive bar cabinet, up to 50’’ TV cabinet, and a dining table oriented across beam. All this comes with the standard version of the Magellano 66.  There is also a Navetta version. Positioning the internal stair amidship means the saloon/dining area can be separated from the piloting and forward galley area, for unprecedented privacy surpassing that of even bigger boats. The crew can carry out their jobs without having to access any of the boat owner and guest spaces. The door to the side walkway is from the galley, allowing the crew to reach their own cabin without crossing the saloon. At the same time, the boat owner and guests can access the saloon from their accommodations, without having to cross the galley and piloting station. The Navetta version also enjoys an expansive view out over the water, with sliding doors and panels that also facilitate mooring.  On the outside your eye is drawn to the integrated terrace to the extreme aft of the flybridge, a design detail that puts the Magellano 66 in the big leagues. The culmination of a spectacular open deck, the terrace can be outfitted for the perfect relaxation environment, complete with comfortable cushions, scenic lighting, and an awning to shade the living area. Just like the Magellano 53, at the bow of the 66 there is an additional lounge area, here even more welcoming and private.  The storage space for all on-board and free-time equipment is unparalleled. There are enormous storage spaces in the bow and on the flybridge.  On the lower deck, there is a large owner suite at full beam. Here, the spacious quarters are bathed in natural light for an elegant but also practical space with ample stowage. The owner has all the space they've always wanted with his and her spacious closet, chest of drawers, vanity, and an additional huge storage area under the bed.  The closets in the VIP and guest cabins receive the same attention. Both cabins offer something extra because, as everyone says, there is never enough space on board. The fourth cabin is designed as a utility room but, upon request, can be outfitted as a cabin with bunk beds. The washer and dryer are conveniently located along the corridor. With two Volvo 800hp diesel engines, Magellano's performance is perfectly in line with the philosophy of a modern Long Range yacht. Travelling at 9 knots in full displacement mode, it has a range of over nine hundred nautical miles, this including reserve. The double chine Dual Mode hull provides a purposeful shape that optimizes cruising both in displacement and planing modes, for a cruising speed of 16 to 18 knots and a maximum speed of 22.

New Model: Azimut Atlantis 43

After re-inventing all the line of Atlantis in 2009, Neo Design head to phase two and continue a project of renovation and updating in this important entry level line of the Azimut-Benetti Group. After smooth touching a 50 model from the 48, now Atlantis present a new 43. While looking different from the 44, this new 43 is in hull shape based on the model it replaces. But from waterline up the 43 is a totally new model. Interestingly both Neo Design and Azimut Atlantis take a more traditional outlook in the 43, indeed in many respects the 44 was most daring. For example to give a short summary of this, the midships cabin of the 43 is a three single berths layout versus the full beam midships of the 44. The aft deck cockpit is also a more traditional cozy deep layout, versus the more daring and open of the 44.  These subtle changes are an interesting move from Atlantis, who look at a more international market for the 43, versus the more Mediterranean flare featured in the other smaller and bigger sisters.

Project: Azimut Atlantis 43

Its a new project from Atlantis, the new 43 which will replace the 44 in the entry more young brand of the Azimut-Benetti Group. Designed by the team of NeoDesign the Atlantis 43 strikes most of the competition for having one of the most functional cockpits in its size. Look at the L-shaped galley wet-bar and it is difficult to believe to be found on a sport cruiser measuring just thirteen meters. Extendable sun-pad aft, and a forward looking passenger seat to port side of the helm station which becomes a chaise lounge are also other interesting traits. Below the spaciousness continues and the 43 surprises for a spacious L-shape galley located to starboard of the entrance stairs. Two cabins are available for guests; owners room to fore and a twin / three berth guest room amidships. The midships cabin two single berths, can also become on the occasion a double berth. Engines will be twin Volvo 400hp with stern drive propulsion and an estimated top speed of 33 knots.

Azimut Grande New Web Site

Azimut Grande which translates to large Azimut is a concept the World famous Italian brand launched in 2010, focusing on the over one hundred feet Super Yachts. Worth to note that while today competition is highly competitive over the one hundred feet size, Azimut has been in this segment since 1982 when it launched the 105 Failaka at the time the biggest yacht made of fiberglass. Azimut-Benetti has been the top dog builder of Super Yachts over eighty feet for many consecutive years and up until this year on the Showboats International yearly order books list. The new Azimut Grande website shows the customizing of the yachts, and while the exterior does not change much, the owner can dictate and change most of the interior thanks to a Personal Design Equipe dedicated for each construction. Azimut Grande has currently five models from the Flybridge and SL ranges. Smallest model is the just launched 95 RPH, and the current bigger model is the 120SL.  The new Azimut Grande website is available in English and Italian language and takes you around with the following buttons: Your Personality, Out Attitude, A Unique Experience, and Grande Collection.  The new Azimut Grande website also connects the user to the Group's Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Youtube social media pages.

New Model: Azimut 77S

It was a busy winter spring period at Azimut, with the most famous of the Italian builders preparing, tooling and finishing three totally new models. The Azimut 77S in order of launches is the last to finally make the always emotional move from project to reality and into the water. This new Azimut S series, follows the look and revolutionary solutions found in its smaller 2012 launched 55S sister, an Azimut which sold a successful forty units in a two years production run. Six meters more of length equals that in the 77S everything is bigger from the engines to the main deck and the four cabins layout. The galley in the 77S is located below in a separate environment to port side of the stairway which leads to the cabins and situated in between the owners full beam amidships stateroom and one of twin guest cabins. A VIP suite is located to fore, with a second twin bed cabin to starboard. A crew area with two cabins is located at midships in between the engine room aft, and the owners stateroom. The living is a single level area with a welcome large relaxing C-shaped saloon, and dining to port side of the helm station forward. Outside the 77S offers a total of three sun-pads; aft, fore, and on top on the sports bridge which also features a helm station with driving and c0-diver seats. As the 55S the 77S is powered by three IPS pods in this case the large 1200 units with 900hp Volvo engines.

Project: Azimut Altantis 50 Open

With the arrival of the Azimut Atlantis 50 Open, the options for cruising enjoyment have just doubled. The Azimut Atlantis 50 Coupè has been available since last autumn and the new Open version debuts at boat shows starting September 2014. Same quality and performance to meet the needs of those who wish to enjoy the sea with different styles. In keeping with the core philosophy of the Atlantis collection sport cruisers and yachts, the Open offers the utmost in cruising pleasure and comfort with highly live-able exterior spaces and well-thought-out furnishings. In particular, the sofa is in a new U-shaped configuration with added seating facing the stern sun pad, which also houses the life raft. In the Open version, the main deck is all on one level separated by just a few steps from the stern swimming platform. The exterior kitchen on the starboard side includes a stainless steel sink, refrigerator, icemaker, and barbecue. The Open has all teak floors while the Coupè marks the distinction between inside and outside with different flooring materials. The two versions share the same layout and engine configuration. At the stern there is plenty of space for a sun-pad with platform lift enabling up to a 2.4-metre tender to be housed in the garage below; they also feature well-designed and functional cockpit furnishings. The hardtop is electronically operated. With the optional third cabin supplementing the Owner's and VIP cabin, the Azimut Atlantis 50 can accommodate from four to six guests. The full beam master cabin is located amidships, the ideal position for maximum comfort, reducing any sensations of rolling or pitching to a minimum. The completely restyled kitchen is in an L configuration and includes a built-in refrigerator and four-burner, glass-ceramic cooktop. The Azimut Atlantis 50 Open is fitted with two Cummins 600hp engines that allow a maximum speed of 32 knots and cruise at 28.

New Model: Azimut 50 Flybridge

As the above picture shows the finishing of this new Azimut was dedicated to the workers who build this awaited 50 model. An always important size for Azimut, meaning a client entering yacht segment and one of success for the most famous of the Italian builders. For this new model Azimut and designer Righini inspired themselves to one of there own recent successes the 2013 launched 80, which one year after its launch is a market sensation. But this new Azimut 50 has some interesting parts of its own, as the seventeen squared meters fly-bridge size which is among the largest in this size, and a three double cabin layout which includes a full beam owners room. In this model Azimut interior designer Galeazzi left the saloon for dining and relaxing areas, with a two parts split level saloon having a C-shaped settee forward to port side, and a relaxing saloon sofa aft. Below deck is the galley in between the three cabins, a concept which Azimut used in the smaller 47/48 model, and usually a design feature not much appreciated on fifteen meters plus sized flybridge motor yachts.

New Model: Azimut Grande 95 RPH

Azimut Grande 95RPH, new model from the most exclusive large super yacht collection among the range, was launched in Viareggio on April 15th 2014. Latest model to be included in the Grande Collection, is also the first one being realized since the Collection was reintroduced in the Azimut Yachts family, side by side with the others: Atlantis, Magellano, Flybridge and S. Once again the already established collaboration between designer Stefano Righini, in charge of the concept and the external lines, and Studio Salvagni Architects for the interior layout, resulted in a project characterized by a unique and unmistakable style. Among the most interesting innovations introduced onboard this 29 meters, the raised pilothouse hence the name of the model, the incredibly spacious flybridge over sixty squared meters, and the peculiar interior space configuration that includes four VIP cabins in addition to the master suite. The Grande Collection currently includes five models, ranging from 95 to 120 feet, designed for owners willing to customize their yacht: a team of technical and production experts, in fact, will work with them throughout the whole yacht’s construction process so to define together each single aspect, whether it concerns technical or design features. Dedicated to over thirty meters long planing vessels, characterized by a high level of customization, the Grande series is the most exclusive among the Azimut Yachts’ five collections, and this new model perfectly highlights the Collection’s elevated technology and style standards.

Project: Azimut 50

From the end of last year Azimut already started to show signs that 2014 will be an important renewal time for its line up, announcing three new projects during the Genoa boat show. The 50 is one of the models upcoming by the World famous Italian builder, and shows Azimut re-challenge itself in a model which previously has always sold over the hundreds of units in a few years production run. This new 50 major selling point will be its full beam owners midships stateroom. Its interesting to note here that while Azimut pioneered the full beam amidships cabin in the smaller yacht sizes with the 55 in 2000, the Italian marque never actually did this in its fifty feet sizes or smaller. The smallest Azimut featuring a full beam owners cabin was the 53 recently updated to become the 54. This new 50 changes this and features a full beam owners cabin, plus two other guest cabins, these being a VIP forward, and a twin with bunk berths to starboard. Styled outside by long time Azimut designer Stefano Righini the 50 features similar single piece styled view windows reminiscing the 2012 launched 55S model. Interesting to note how these should work very good with the split level saloon which features a lounging entrance saloon and a dinette to forward port side. Another plus point in the new 50 will also be the settee in the fore deck, something also unusual to find in most modern motor yachts of similar sizes.

Project: Azimut 77S

The 77S project is one of three new models Azimut will launch in 2014, all announced to dealers during the 2013 Genoa boat show. With this latest addition to the S range Azimut and designer Righini follow the steps of the 55S launched in 2012. Same style bow, similar side windows in both lower deck and coach-roof, and most important on the technical side the repeat use of triple Volvo IPS pod propulsion. In this case the 77S is to be powered by triple Volvo 900hp engines with the large IPS1200 pod drives. While the exterior profile will make people who like modern lines fall in love with the new 77S, this new Azimut has a lot going for it also in its clever layout plans as designed by architect Galeazzi, which thanks to the pods and further aft located engines, features impressive spaces. Apart four spacious double guest cabins all with en-suite heads the 77S also surprise in the layout of its main deck; this having a large saloon, and dining table for eight. A separate C-shaped galley is located below in between the cabins. To amidships in behind the owners stateroom, and to fore of the engine room is two crew cabins sleeping four persons and sharing a shower head. As is standard in recent Sport Yachts of this size and similar to the smaller Azimut 72S, the 77S will also feature a sport fly-bridge this having a central helm, passenger companion seat to starboard, and a sun-pad looking aft aft.

Project: Azimut Grande 95 RPH

Azimut introduces the Grande 95RPH project: a new hull, design, and innovative solutions for a pocket sized super yacht with many surprises in store. The 95RPH is part of the Grande collection, the line of which with this model spans from 95 to 120 feet luxury yachts from the World famous Italian shipyard. The first brand new Azimut Grande 95 RPH is launching in spring 2014; however, thanks to renderings, it is possible to preview some of the boatyard's interesting solutions that improve functionality without altering the style. Foremost among the new features introduced by concept and exterior designer Stefano Righini is the raised wheelhouse. The boat’s name, RPH actually stands for Raised Pilot House, giving some indication of the importance of the decision to separate the wheelhouse from the main deck. This is accomplished by creating a half deck which gives the owner and guests more space and maximizes crew privacy. The designer has also managed to integrate the raised wheelhouse with the vessel’s hallmark exterior lines, retaining that special Azimut Grande family look.  Thanks to the raised wheelhouse, the Grande 95RPH has five cabins, four guest cabins on the lower deck and an owner's stateroom on the main deck towards the bow. The exceptional view and large bathroom make the owner's room a veritable suite with an unparalleled sea view. There is also a liberating sense of space in the 95 RPH saloon; here, Righini has created a real sense of continuity between inside and outside, thanks in part to the double, floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Another Azimut Grande trump card is without doubt the exceedingly spacious flybridge with spaces of sixty squared meters, awarded Best in Class; it includes a cushy exterior dinette that seats ten, a mini bar, Jacuzzi, and comfortable sunbathing area.  The standard layout sleeps of the 95RPH sleeps ten in five cabins; owner's room and four VIP rooms, each with a private bath. The four-member crew has three cabins and two baths to the bow, with separate access to the kitchen located on the main deck. The luxurious and elegant interiors are a design by Studio Salvagni Architect's for Azimut, a proven collaboration that has led to such successful models as the 80, 84, and 88.  To the stern, there is a garage with pivoting platform for a four metre jet tender.  Power is twin MTU 2186hp motors which, when combined with the planing hull with skeg, provides for significantly improved directional stability, enabling maximum speeds up to 26 knots and cruising speeds of 20 knots. A 12,000 liter fuel tank and 2,000-litre water tank ensure great range, even for long crossings.  Despite being a super yacht with an overall length of nearly 29 metres, the Grande 95 RPH falls within the 24 meter cut-off and therefore can be registered as a pleasure craft. In many countries around the world this is a distinction which offers the owner serious advantages both in terms of crew management and administration, with significant savings in time and money. This is because pleasure crafts do not require a professional captain or engineer and have reduced crew requirements. In addition, the registration procedures are definitely simplified, with the corollary benefits for charter use: regulations are in conformance with MGN280 guidelines, MCA equivalent for under 24 meters.

New Model: Azimut 53 Magellano

So far the 50 Magellano has been the most successful model in the explorer range from Azimut yachts, and now after over fifty units delivered World wide in a two year period the Italian builder replaces it with the 53. This new second sized model Magellano is in fact a further update to the 50, but serious tooling rework was done here extending the hull length by four feet to aft, adding five centimeters of beam, and twelve centimeters of draft.  With this come a redesigning for the lower deck layout below, and the addition of a crew cabin to aft.  Looks wise the major visible difference of the 53 versus the 50 is the aft deck now larger, but large view windows have also been reduced to two now totaling four, these serving the midships owners room. An other change for the 53 is also the pantry now standard to starboard which can also be added with a single berth, adding the total number of cabins to four, and sleeping capability to seven guests in the fore area, all this excluding the single crew cabin to aft.  Unfortunately or at least on the Azimut website the 53 Magellano will only feature one lower deck layout, versus the four options which used to be available for the 50.  On the technical side against the 50 the 53 Magellano also features 150 more horses on tap thanks to bigger twin Cummins 500hp engines, but still keeping inline with the same speed standards of the range.

New Model: Azimut Atlantis 50

Its the first new model which Atlantis presents under Azimut branding umbrella, this is the new 50 a further evolution of the 48, starter in fall 2009 of the new look era by Neo Design Team of Biaggi and Salvetti completed in 2012.  So far Azimut Atlantis 50 will not replace the 48, but will be an additional model with an extra one foot at the back of overall length, glass hard top instead of soft, patio door in lieu of fully open although this choice is still available, and third cabin with bunk berths in replacement of the lower deck saloon.  The Atlantis 48 have been a successful model for the Italian maker and the 50 hopes to strengthen its grip further, even with the new competition coming from known British builders which should make choosing an open hard-top modern looking of around the fifteen meter mark very interesting to any buyer. The Azimut Atlantis 50 unlike the competition though is powered by the tried and tested long standing line shaft.  Interestingly Azimut Group Research and Design department has been among the biggest tester of the pod drives in Sweden and Italy, but its usage has been very sparse, something I never whole hardheartedly understood.

Project: Azimut 53 Magellano

The pleasure of cruising, the quest for the greater comfort onboard, the need for bigger storage spaces and higher autonomy during long crossing, all merged with the timeless charm of Italian design: that is the new Magellano collection’s philosophy, interpreted, once again at best, by Azimut with the latest 53 project.  The new model will replace the 50 a best seller in the Magellano range sold World wide to great success in a three year production run.  The extra length of the new 53 allows Azimut to place a spacious crew cabin to aft, as well as to transform the aft cockpit deck in an actual terrace with over thirteen square meters wide. The Magellano 53 offers three cabins for up to six guests, as well as a high pantry in with enough space to allocate supplies, equipment and, occasionally, an extra bed. The internal dĂ©cor is a mix between the warm shades of the leather and the Canaletto Walnut; at ship owners' disposal, a wide range of materials to choose from, for the ultimate customization.   As all Magellano the 53 features the Dual Mode semi-displacement hull, designed by Bill Dixon exclusively for the this collection, ensuring a smooth navigation, even with head sea, reducing the pitch’s width and naturally diminishing the impact in the waves.  Power for the 53 Magaellano is 600hp Cummins engines which deliver a cruising speed of 16 knots with a 20 of max.

Project: Azimut Atlantis 50

An evolution of the 48 model which started the Atlantis brand new direction by Neo Design the 50 project includes a series of innovations which have been carefully detailed yet again by the architects brilliant team, rendering the yacht even more versatile and exciting. The pleasure of cruising is two-fold: Azimut Atlantis 50 is available in both an Open and Coupè version, each delivering the same comfort and performance to meet the different needs of those who love to experience the sea in their own style, without compromising.  Sporty and elegant, the new 15-metre yacht is perfect for those who want an immediate connection with the sea, yet who also enjoy socialising. In the Open version, the main deck is a single open space with just a few steps dividing the bathing platform and the stern; while, the CoupĂ© version offers the option to create a more intimate space by separating the inside and the outside with a three-leaf glass door. With the doors opened, the CoupĂ©’s maindeck is transformed as well in a fully living space, totally equipped. In both versions, astern, there is a comfortable sunbath area and the swimming platform with tender lift allowing an easy access of the tender to the sea and to host it in the underlying garage. The cockpit’s design, in the Coupè version, includes a table built into the sunbathing platform. The hardtop is electrically operated.  The Atlantis 50 accommodates four to six guests, with the option of adding a third cabin to complete the dinette. There are two spacious cabins, a Master and VIP amidships at full-beam; each is equipped with a large double bed, two closets, and private entrance to a bathroom with a separate show stall. Both cabins are especially light filled thanks to the picture windows and skylights. The Atlantis 50 is equipped with twin Cummins 600Hp engines; these make it possible to reach maximum speeds of 33 knots, and cruising speeds of 29 knots.

New Model: Azimut 80 Flybridge

Reinventing the wheel how cruisers and yachts look and function has always been part of what Azimut does, and this is why this large private owned builder still as at today even in these hard times creates trends which other builders will eventually follow.  The Italians are inventive in there nature but Azimut clearly deservers a big recognition for what it did in the motor boating world in the past thirty plus of years.  The Azimut 80 for its length brings a fresh new approach turning what other builders do, making a big boat look more compact without it being smaller.  Take a picture of the 80 from a distance and many would tell you she is a sixty footer, or that it is the Azimut 64.  Go close to it and you will say different, as indeed the Azimut 80 has an overall length of over 25 meters.  On the layout terms the Azimut 80 Flybridge offers a traditional four cabins layout with a large full beam owners room amidships, VIP to fore and two double cabins in between.  Two crew cabins sleeping two and sharing a head are located aft.  Still Azimut brings nice features in this size from a Jacuzzi bath on the flybridge, to a day head on the main deck.  Azimut is also offering two stabilization options on the 80 from Seakeeper Gyros, or active CMC fins.  Hull one was build with the CMC fins.  Power is from twin MAN 1550hp engines which give a top speed of 30 knots max.

Project: Azimut 80

Azimut presents an important project of a new 80 designed outside by long time standing architect Stefano Righini.  This new model is a project to be made in the Turin facility with the current largest build ever made here being the 72S.  So far Azimut has not mentioned if this new 80 will replace the 78 produced at the Viareggio yard, the smallest build coming from this facility.  Stefano Righini in this new Azimut 80  evolves the style the known Italian builder has pioneered since the advent of the 68 Plus in 1999 and since then on all the fifty to seventy feet models, of a flybridge yacht with low profile looks but yet spacious and innovative solutions both inside and outside. The interior layout designed by recent recruit Achille Salvagni of this new 80 will feature four double cabins, with all having en-suite heads and a very large owners stateroom to midships.  The main deck is characterized by a traditional layout of welcoming saloon, dining area, a separate galley in the standard plan but which is also available as an open version, and a day head.  The helm station offers a two seats plus an L-shaped dinette to port side.  Navigation wise the Azimut 80 will be build to CE A standards and is to be powered by MAN 1550hp engines with a top speed of 30 knots being estimated.  Stabilizing options which more the time passes seem to become more important is offered from Seakeeper gyros, or CMC fins.

New Model: Azimut 43 Magellano HT

Offering different versions to the same model has been an important element in the last couple of years since the crunch hit the World at end of the past decade.  Business wise this make a lot of sense since offering a hard top version of a flybridge model can usually attract a different set of customers to it.  The Azimut 43 Magellano HT wants to do purely this, attract a younger customer seeing that this hard top model of the entry level explorer line from the famed Italian builder shows a  more aggressive profile.  For the rest loosing the extra helm and entertainment area up top, the 43 Magellano HT keeps all the same as the flybridge model with the very clever main deck area with its well laid astern galley, and its spacious lower deck.  Speed is a max of 22 and a cruise of 18 thanks to twin Cummins 355hp.
