New Model: Absolute 52 Fly

It's been an interesting development curve at Absolute and what it did in between the fifty to sixty feet in it's flybridge range.  Just a reminder Absolute debuted in this category with a 50 Fly back in 2010, a model which was developed in a 53, 55 and now a 56.  Unlike the other models the Absolute 52 Fly is a new hull with a slimmer beam to the models mentioned above.  The new Absolute 52 Fly captures itself for its perfect layout of space; nice flybridge plan up top, aft deck with sun-pad, astern galley, and three large cabins below including a full beam owners cabin.  Other interesting features is the very open feel of the saloon thanks to the large view windows, an Absolute feature since a few years now.  Power for the 52 Fly is twin Volvo 435hp engines and IPS pods, nowadays propelling all the Absolute line which is a record in its own right.  Absolute is estimating light load top speeds of 32 knots, with a 26 cruise.

New Model: Absolute 45 Fly

It has to be one of the best medium sized flybridge motor cruisers to what concerns layout, and clever design to have been presented in its size.  This is in short words the Absolute 45 Fly, who continue with the clever intuition this builder has showed since its inception a decade ago. An evolution of the two years ago launched 43, Absolute says that a lot of the input for the 45 comes from the launched past year 72 Fly flagship, but I add that design and layout wise this nice new model learns a lot from the 55 series, also presented in 2012, which is among the best yachts in its size type yacht to what concerns space and plan usage. The Absolute 45 Fly main attractions are the astern galley, spacious full beam midships owners room, large view windows in both decks, and the aft sun-pad. To like is the windows surrounding the main saloon with the large openings to fore in both port and starboard sides.  The 45 Fly also surprises for offering an extra single berth third cabin to aft, which can be categorized as crew quarters but can also be viable as an extra guest cabin. Absolute finishes this cabin to the same standard as the rest of the inside.  The 45 Fly is powered by twin Volvo 435hp engines, with Absolute continuing its full support as since 2006 to the IPS pods which also for a couple of years propels all its line.

Project: Absolute 52 Fly

Italy's Absolute yachts continues to present interesting new projects, with this updating its range to the latest trends.  Now Absolute presents a project for a 52 Fly which in my book should replace the 53, a further evolution of the 50, which in last year's fall also evolved as 55.  On the outside this new 52 Fly does not follow the design of these models but goes to a similar look at what Absolute is showing with its bigger 72, and soon to be launched 64.  That is a more motor yacht look with a flybridge also looking higher, mostly thanks to the more upright angled radar arch.  Inside the 52 Fly will offer three double guest cabins, with an en-suite bathroom for the full beam amidships owners room, and a guest shower head.  The main deck goes with a single step split level saloon with the forward part being dining and relaxing areas, and the entrance having the L-shaped galley to port side.  The outside of the 52 is full of spaces and interesting solutions, from the aft deck this continuing Absolute principle of offering a sun pad, and the flybridge which in my book at least on plan looks to be one of the most spacious in this size, at least to what seating and sunbathing areas are concerned.  That is saying something nowadays, would be interesting to match the square meters area of the models and what they offer.  Engines have not been announced by I can imagine it to be twin Volvo with IPS pod drives.

New Model: Absolute 55 Fly

The Absolute 55 Fly is a further evolution of the 50 its first flybridge yacht launched in 2010, which became also available as 53 model at 2011. But to say this is actually so, you are taking away the good job the designers at the Italian company called Research Lab manage to make.  It is an amazing feat and shows huge market Intel from Absolute which makes the 55 Fly as one of the most interesting flybridge motor yachts available in the sixteen meters size today.  The Absolute 55 Fly actually takes only whats below the waterline from the its predecessors, whats above is completely new and fresh.  There are a lot of things to like in the Absolute 55 Fly from the astern galley, to the twin dinette very rare with the kitchen to aft, an aft deck with sunpad which looks like coming from a sports yacht, side door by the helm station to starboard, and three large cabins below of which a full beam owners stateroom. Power comes from a four different choice of Volvo engines one of which is a triple units, with Absolute continuing its huge support to the IPS pods now available on all the sixteen models of the Italian builder.
Technical Data:

Project: Absolute 64 Fly

Absolute present the project of the 64 Fly, an interesting follow up to its new 72 flagship presented past Summer 2012.  In this latest project the North Italian builder follows a lot of the themes it has shown in recent years from modern lines with large window surfaces especially noted on the main deck, and IPS pod drives for the propulsion.  Worth to note that IPS are currently used on all Absolute to a total of sixteen models.  Apart being among the first users of Volvo's IPS pods Absolute did distinct itself to a huge following for the drives. The Absolute 64 Fly will feature a four double cabin lower deck; some notes here are the full beam owners stateroom to midships, and a bunk berths fourth cabin.  A crew cabin is located aft.  The main deck of the Absolute 64 Fly will feature a single level flush deck minus for the pilot station area which is raised by one step. So far the galley seems to be located centrally and not astern as the new well praised 55 model.  Power is twin Volvo 800 or optional 900hp units, and as stated both choices come only with the IPS pod propulsion.

New Model: Absolute 55 STY

A further evolution of the 53 STY this in synthesis the Absolute 55 STY, but the yacht apart having that extra ten centimeters in length offers much more then you think it is possible.  This happens because Absolute Research Lab revisit all the interior, and also the exterior layout by moving the galley on top and in the much praised astern position, thus reinventing and creating more space also below deck.  Thanks to this the 55 STY features a lower deck with a midships full beam owners stateroom, a VIP to fore, and a double guest cabin to starboard.  The aft deck of the 55 STY has also been reinvented now offering a sun pad, and a medium sized L-shaped settee to port side.  The 55 STY also offers more power options versus the 53 being offering with twin Volvo 600 and 700hp units alongside the two or three 435hp choices as offered in the smaller sister.

New Model: Absolute 40 STL

Absolute's 40 STL presents a new chapter for the North Italian boat builder who presents a large open cruiser with a nice comfortable interior, and a walk around style deck space.  When the rendering was presented and looking into some Italian forums many boaters said they did not enjoy much this new Absolute 40 Sport Line, but personally I see it as a nice offer for those looking for a day cruiser with capability of to making a cruise.  The deck space of the 40 STL presents itself as a center console with both the side decks, to port and starboard allowing free undisturbed passageway from the bathing platform to the fore tip.  The accommodation plan here resides in the middle with a central sun pad, C-shaped settee, wet bar, and a two seat helm station.  Below is an accommodation plan sleeping a total of four with the layout consisting of a convertible Vee shaped dinette to fore, shower head, galley, and a full beam separate owners cabin to midships.  Power is twin Volvo engines; diesel 300 or 330hp, and petrol gasoline 270 and 320hp units.

New Model: Absolute 72 Fly

Absolute model number nineteen is its new flagship the expected 72 Fly, which takes its length and beam a bit further to the 2008 launched 70 STY.  We are speaking of centimeters here, but considering that only two years ago Absolute launched its first flybridge yacht with the 50 Fly it is impressive the great strives forward this Italian builder has made in its just celebrated first decade.  The Absolute 72 Fly is a flybridge motor yacht, and continues the Italian builder extensive use of window surfaces, and IPS pods propulsion available on all its models minus the 40 STC.  The interior of the 72 Fly presents itself with a spacious traditional below with four double cabins and three shower heads serving the guests.  The owners room is located to midships, VIP suite to fore, and two twin cabins in between.  A twin crew cabin, with a spacious shower head is located to aft.  On the main deck Absolute shows good thinking thanks to a single level plan, an open galley to port side, which with the aft bulk head separates itself from the saloon, and the view windows making for uninterrupted view from forward to back even when seated on the saloon.  The exterior areas are also a following to the latest trends from the C-shaped settee to fore deck, to the aft part of the flybridge which has a free area which can be equipped with a free hanging shower.  Power for the Absolute 72 Fly is twin Volvo 900hp with IPS pods propulsion which give a max speed of 31 knots, and a cruise of 24.

Project: Absolute 55 Fly

Absolute presents the project for a 55 Fly model, which continues the modern attitude of the cruisers and yachts presented by this North Italian builder.  With the 55 Fly, Absolute will use a layout where the lower deck is fully dedicated to the sleeping area, here featuring three double cabins and two shower heads; one of which en-suite for the full beam midships owners cabin.  Interesting is also the concept of the aft deck with a sports vocation, featuring a sun pad for three persons to aft, and U-shaped settee.  Inside will also be an astern galley located to port side in the entrance to the saloon, with a settee opposite.  This galley will also surprise for its spaciousness and the home size of its appliances see the 250 liters of the fridge freezer.  The helm continues Absolute research into window innovation with a side door which allows direct access to wide walk way.  Absolute will also present a 55 STY, hard top sport yacht version which will feature sleeker lines and an opening hardtop in lieu of the spacious flybridge. The 55 Fly will have Volvo IPS pod drives propulsion, used or available on all Absolute models minus the 40 STC.

Project: Absolute 40 STL

After making all its line into hard top and flybridge boats, Absolute returns to an open sports cruiser with the very futuristic looking 40 STL.  The new 40 STL which stands for Sports Line marks the Italian builder return to open boats, just as it started in 2003 with the 25.  Huge exterior living areas are the trademark of the 40 STL, but also innovative features as a bimini which retracts behind the lounger or the option for a hard top which covers over half of the cockpit deck. Another particular unique feeling of the 40 STL is the feeling of a mix between that of an open cruiser, to that of a center console thanks to centrally located two person helm station. Inside the 40 STL will offer a very open living area with an innovative layout having a second galley, a U-shaped dinette which converts to a double berth to fore, separate shower head, and an owners full beam room to midships. Absolute does not give much details on the power and propulsion of the 40 STL, but I do imagine similar power as for the 40 STY of Volvo 260 with IPS pod drive or 300 and 330hp choices, in stern drive propulsion format.

Project: Absolute 72 Fly

The Absolute wave never stops, and the Italian brand headed by Angelo Gobbi shows its next project, one of important relevance for a new flagship, the 72 Fly.  This model takes over the mantle as biggest Absolute from the 70 STY launched in 2008, going two feet larger, and expands the flybridge range as introduced in 2010, and today having four models from 40 to 53 feet.   As shown in smaller models, Absolute head of design Sergio Maggi also on the 72 Fly, concentrates on modern Italian looks using huge window surfaces to make the owner and guest having a touch feeling with the exterior environment.  Down below a four double cabins with three heads interior plan is offered.  Power will be from Volvo engines, with IPS pods propulsion, and I imagine here a twin IPS1200 with 900hp engines set up.  Absolute having among the best experience with the Volvo IPS pods being one of the first users, starting in 2006 and powering nearly all other models minus the entry level 40 SC.

Improve-it = Absolute 40 STY

It is in sticking to client demands that the market plays at the moment, and Absolute show this with the just launched 40 STY.  At the Genoa boat show Absolute presented a new alternative choice to the stern layout of the 40STY.  Now clients have the choice to equip it with an aft sunpad like the bigger Absolute 43 or 53 STY sisters, in replacement to the standard settee.  The sunpad also transforms to a settee in a matter of seconds, giving an owner the best of both Worlds.  I am sure this alternative option comes after the launch at Cannes of the 40 STY, which showed clients preferring the sunpad as the 43 STY, but still wanted a three feet smaller size sport cruiser.

New Model: Absolute 53 STY

An impressive 2011 fall from Absolute which including this new 53 STY presented five premier models in between the Cannes and Genoa shows from forty to 53 feet.  The 53 STY, acronym used for sport yacht shares hull and many design solutions with the 2010 launched 50 and 2011 53 Fly models.  Obviously the 53 STY is a hard top sport yacht with patio door dividing the cockpit.  Some might suspect the 53 STY should also replace the successful 52 launched in 2007, and the first Absolute to have the concept of upper saloon and patio doors dividing the area.  But so far the 52 is still in production and offered on the official web site.  Mirror difference with this new 53 STY to the 52 come instant and these are bigger engines options triple Volvo 435hp or twin 700 units, and more beam which offers more space everywhere.  Obviously the 53 STY is a complete new model versus the 52.  Below is also a choice for two layouts; three cabins sleeping six and owners room to fore, or two rooms which gives a spacious midships full beam master  room and VIP to fore.  In both the layouts the galley is below between the cabins, leaving main deck area all for entertainment.  IPS propulsion is again used in the 53 STY, which makes Absolute the most eager user of Volvo propulsion system available on thirteen from fourteen models.

New Model: Absolute 43 STY

In a very difficult economic year the Italian builder Absolute showed great courage presenting five new models for the fall of 2011.  One of the new models is the 43 STY which is based on the hull lines of the 43 Fly presented in the fall of 2010.  The new Absolute apart this follows different characteristics of a fully enclosed all year using sport cruiser with fully opening patio doors, side doors, and sun roof.  The Absolute 43 STY which stands for sport yacht will also offer a distinctive three double cabins lower deck layout.  A two cabin layout is also available.  In the standard three cabin format the owners cabin is located to fore.  Power will be from twin Volvo 370 or 435hp with propulsion following the use of IPS pods also in the new Absolute.  IPS are used or available in thirteen Absolutes, that is all the Italian builder models minus the entry level 40 STC.

New Model: Absolute 40 Fly

Absolute presents the 40 Fly, the entry level model of its flybridge line which was launched last year with the 50 and 43, and so far already features four models.  The Absolute 40 Fly is a very interesting flybridge cruiser featuring a very airy main deck with opening side door, fully open aft patio doors joining the interior saloon to the aft cockpit, and a spacious flybridge which can make bigger boats jealous.  The flybridge motor cruiser also has an up and down hydraulic bathing platform with quite a wide space for a tender.  A note here that there is very few flybridge boats which offer it in this size.  The new Galeon 400 and Azimut 40 come to mind. Below is space for a two cabins both with en-suite, and a galley.  The owners room is to fore, with large view windows to both sides. Power for the Absolute 40 Fly is twin Volvo from 300 up to 370hp in IPS or stern drive propulsion.  For a flybridge I suggest IPS all the way, because if the joystick goes bust it surely would be easier to manoeuvre then with stern drive.
Technical Data:
LOA - 12.05 (39.5ft)

New Model: Absolute 53 Fly

Absolute presents the new 53 Fly which is a further development of the 50 model of the same line.  The Absolute 53 Fly main modifications versus the 50 are quite a few and are to be found in all areas from increased cabin height, larger opening side windows, different more aggressive looking bathing platform, larger aft crew cabin with large view window, more extended larger flybridge in length by seventy centimeters, galley reconfiguration with additional cabinet, modified saloon settee with increased seating capabilities, and internal helm redesign now offering better ergonomics with better all around view. Some options seem also to have vanished from the Absolute 53 Fly technical data of the official website versus the 50 model, like the option of the two cabin layout with owners stateroom moving to midships, and the choice of only twin or triple Volvo 435hp engines with IPS pods propulsion, removing the small 370hp.
Technical Data:

Project: Absolute 43 STY

Absolute presents the project of the 43 STY, a model which is based on the hull line of the 43 Fly presented last year in Cannes.  The 43 STY is the sixth model of the Sport Yacht fleet and continues Absolute use of IPS pods and is a modern fully enclosed sport cruiser which open its sunroof, aft patio door, and parts of the view windows to become a more open boat.  She is also the third STY to be launched in the fall of 2011. Interesting details are the extended hard top which covers nearly all the cockpit, the aft sun pad, and the up and down bathing platform.  The layout of the 43 STY is based with a living and galley on the main deck saloon, with a lower area reserved for the cabins.  This can sleep six in three cabins or four in two.  Power is from twin Volvo 370 or 435hp with IPS pod drives as propulsion.

Project: Absolute 53 STY

Absolute has decided to make 2011 one of its most prolific years, and after presenting two new projects with the 40 model in Fly and STY versions, follows it with the 53 STY.  This model is in my understanding a replacement of the 2007 launched 52, although Absolute has so far not confirmed this.  The 53 STY is based on the hull and lines of the 2010 launched 50 Fly model, and continues this young, prolific and successful Italian builder faith in Volvo IPS pod propulsion.  A system which powers all of its model minus the entry level 40 STC. The 53 STY which mean Sport Yacht, is a three cabin boat which can be fully open, or enclosed with patio doors and sunroof making it a boat for all seasons. Cozy in Winter, open for air in Summer.  The living of the 53 STY minus the galley is located on the main deck, with the exterior also featuring an aft sun pad, and C-shaped dinette.  Down below is three guest cabins, galley, and a crew cabin to aft.  Owners stateroom is to fore, with a VIP cabin located to starboard side with a private entrance to the guests head.  Power is a choice to twin or triple Volvo 435hp engines.

Project: Absolute 40 STY

Absolute present the project of the 40 STY. A new sport cruiser which is based on the project, hull lines of the other upcoming fall 2011 novelty from the North Italian builder the 40 Fly.  The 40 STY will be the fifth Absolute to have a hard top patio door configuration following the success, the 2007 launched 52 which was the first model with this main deck design solution from the Italian builder. So far Absolute has not advised if the 40 STY will replace the current 40 model, which features a hard top but no patio door. The 40 STY with its twelve meters length and over four of beam is a project inspired to all year usage and follows a trend coming from larger sized sport models. The lower deck will feature a fully equipped galley with two cabins, and two shower heads.  Owners cabin is located to fore with a double berth guest with two singles to mid ship. The living saloon with a C-shaped settee is located on the main deck, with a six part patio door joining this area with the aft deck. Furniture of the 40 STY is in oak wood with Matt finishing and a choice is available between two shades of color, natural or dark brown, alternating with other precious materials.  Power will be from Volvo in stern drive or IPS choice.
