New Model: Freedom Boatworks 77

Freedom Boatworks 77 is the first model to come out of this new North Carolina shipyard founded in 2008. Designed by Applied Concepts, the 77 was supervised by Jim Polatty ex Sculley boat builder, and was built for Freedom Boatworks owner. Building a seventy seven feet as its first model, Freedom Boatworks compared to other custom sportfish builders who normally start building a fifteen metre yacht did start big. The 77 is powered with twin CAT C-32A 1825hp, cruising at 30 knots fully loaded with only 1950 rpm and burning 408 lph, and giving a max of 37. The interior accommodation layout has a total five cabins with a full-beam master, VIP with a walk around queen, and another guest cabin with twin lower bunks. Each cabin has a private en-suite head. There is also two cabins for the crew one for the captain with a queen berth, and a double bunk for the crew. The captain and crew share a head. The 77 also features a day head just inside the salon from the mezzanine. The much appreciated mezzanine has seating for six, with an expandable dining table. Underneath the mezzanine one finds a large freezer, refrigerated bait box, refrigerated drink box, large ice dump, and ample storage. There is also a large refrigerated kill box in the transom that can alternatively be used as a livewell. There are two additional in-deck refrigerated fish boxes. The flybridge has a center console with 3 helm seats and 2 jumpseats. Additionally, it has a u-shaped settee, and another bench seating for sixteen person. The flybridge is fully equipped with air conditioning, refrigerator, freezer, lots of storage and great visibility. The interior decor for the 77 was designed by Dawn Moffitt, a renowned name working mostly on megayachts. Finishes include cherry with custom eucalyptus, maple inlays, granite tops in the galley and salon, onyx tops in the heads and staterooms, onyx flooring in the guest heads, glass tile with abolone shell inlays for the master head floor. The galley features two subzero refrigerator drawers, 2 freezer drawers, Meile cooktop, oven, and dishwasher. It's dinette seats seven for dinner. A separate wetbar has ample liquor storage, icemaker, and 2 additional refrigerator drawers. What's unique for the Freedom Boatworks 77 which is built in the custom cold molding method will sure be her agility and fuel economy. This compares to running costs associated with a production sixty four footer, and handling associated to a much smaller boat thanks to the unique hull form and weight per strength the cold moulding building method gives.
