Project: Kadey-Krogen 60 Open

Kadey-Krogen present the project for a 60 Open model, which builds on the success of the 50 Open. The 60 Open will feature the same open living concept first shown on the smaller model, which seamlessly joins the salon and galley area with the pilothouse. As a result of the volume and use of space of the 60 Open, a day head can be easily added in the pilothouse to enhance liveability while on passage or on the hook. Belowdecks, the en-suite master is placed amidships and features a king-size berth to take full advantage of the 60 Open’s five meters plus beam. Additional highlights include twin John Deere 200hp diesel engines, transoceanic range yet an island-friendly draft of less than two meters, and several interior layout options including a three-stateroom, three-head layout with a convertible office area. Project: Van Der Valk 21.27 metre Project Micamo

Van der Valk Shipyard in the Netherlands is taking its fully custom approach to the next level with the 21.27-metre Project Micamo. This bespoke flybridge motoryacht has been ordered by a client with precise requirements in terms of range and led to new rules being set by the Japanese flag state authorities. With a sophisticated exterior and interior by Guido de Groot Design, Project Micamo is set to showcase the finest Dutch craftsmanship to Japan in a unique way when delivered. It also confirms how far Van der Valk is prepared to go to meet custom demands. The owner of Project Micamo is keen to sail on his own keel to the Ogasawara Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage site located some 500 nautical miles south of the main Japanese archipelago. A 24-hour ferry service runs to the archipelago from Tokyo and the maritime authorities have strict rules in place for commercial vessels that are equivalent to those applied to container ships. No regulations were in place, however, for a 20-metre pleasure craft making such lengthy passages so these had to be specifically adapted for Project Micamo. Months of dedicated engineering, careful calculations, stability booklet updates and more have underpinned construction of the hull.  Van der Valk Project Micamo will feature a four double cabins layout with an owners stateroom at midships, while the main deck will offer a more a more traditional central galley plan.  Project Micamo is to be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives for estimated top speeds up to 29 knots.

New Model: Cayman S600

During the Naples, Italy 2023 boat show, Italian boat builder Cayman Yachts presented the new S600 model.  Designed by Ferragni, the designer responsible for all Cayman Yachts onwards from the F920 launched in 2018, the S600 is based on the F580 hull without the flying bridge and thus offering a sportier profile.  Thanks to this the S600 comes looking different outside, sleeker with the trade off of losing the extra space on the flybridge.  For the remaining the Cayman S600 is similar to the F580 with an astern galley main deck layout, and a lower deck with three double cabins, including of which is an owners full beam midships stateroom.  The Cayman S600 hull one is powered by twin Volvo 775hp with twin IPS pod drives as propulsion, the smallest power choice for the S600 with speeds above thirty knots being estimated.  More powerful 900 or 1000hp with IPS pod drives from Volvo, and or Man 800hp with shafts are available.

Beneteau New Web Site

Beneteau headlining brand of Groupe Beneteau and one of the most popular production boat builders updates its global web showroom. Beneteau was founded 1884 in Vendee by fully qualified ship builder Benjamin Beneteau, who sets up a boat yard with the family name building trawlers for fisherman. 24 years pass and as any builder who beats the age of time Benjamin sets provocation in motion when in 1910 he builds the first engine boat called "Vainqueur des Jaloux", Conqueror of the Jealous in English which sets a lot of drama and also gets accused this is scaring the fish away. In 1928 Andre Beneteau son of Benjamin takes over yard management duties, and two years later he shows the way forward building "Le Jeannot" a faster design trawler which he christens Poursuivante, translated in English to Pursuer. It is 1945 the ending of World War II, which prompts Vendee and the fishing fleet of the area needing a total rebuild, and Andre pursues his creativity by presenting the first trawler boats with bridges. This is followed in 1955 with more tuna fisherman thinking creating the first live bait storage. In 1964 the third generation Beneteau boat builders Annette Beneteau Roux, brother Andre, and husband Louis-Claude Roux take the helm pursuing the road into recreational boats and the use of fiberglass as a building material. A year later passes and Beneteau exhibits for the first time at the Paris boat show presenting the Peches Promenade concept of fishing pleasure boats. 1967 Beneteau follows more its production instincts launching the Forban and Galion models which achieve great success and are followed by another break through of Baroudeur a pleasure cruiser with living aboard comfort. 1973 sees Andre Beneteau responsible for design present the 32 Evasion first two masted yacht from the brand, and two years later this is followed by what the critics call one of his best projects the Astroblade. Between this in 1974 Beneteau launches a still today model range, its first planning motor boat the Antares, and in 1976 the 30 First designed by Andre Mauric is presented. This also marking a line which is still as at today existent. 1981 sees designer German Frers present the 42 First, recognized at the time as one of the most stable sailboats. In 1982 Beneteau is recognized as the largest production boat builder of the time. A century has passed since its founding in 1984 and Beneteau goes public on the Paris stock exchange. This is followed by more production facilities two years later when Beneteau opens a new building plant in Marion, South Carolina USA. 1987 sees the launch of another line with the Oceanis designed by Philippe Briand, and another innovative 35.5 First with project by Philippe Starck and Jean Berret is launched. In 1992 Groupe Beneteau is founded today featuring twelve boat building brands: Beneteau, Jeanneau, Lagoon, Prestige, CNB, Monte Carlo Yachts, 2014 acquired Four Winns, Glastron, Wellcraft, Scarab all USA brands, and in 2018 Delphia from Poland and Seascape from Slovenia. Beneteau current line up features a total eight different ranges of sailing, motor cruisers, and motor yachts; which start with the First 14 and go up to the Grand Trawler 62. The motorboat lines are the following; Flyer, Antares Gran Turismo, and Swift Trawler. The smallest motor boat is the Flyer 6, going up to the 2022 launched Grand Trawler 62. Beneteau new web site takes you around with the following buttons; Sailing Yachts, Motorboats, Services, Beneteau, Events, News, and Dealers. Beneteau is also present in Social Media with links at the bottom of the page taking you to its Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter pages.

Vitech Super Yacht Sinks off Hastings

A 27 meter Vitech super yacht titled m/y Astor with two persons and a dog on board sank while cruising off Hastings, on the East Sussex coast on Thursday April six at about 1700 hours.  A coast guard helicopter rescued the crew while the dog was later saved by a life boat.  M/y Astor was reported sold in end January, after the yacht has sat untouched in Brighton marina for many years.
M/y Astor is a 1993 Vitech 90 designed by Bill Dixon and build in Taiwan.  The Vitech 90 features an accommodation for eight guests in four cabins and is powered by twin Man 1100hp engines with a top speed up to 23 knots.  Astor was the first and one of two 90 models build with the second launching in 2006.

New Model: AB Yachts 80

Spring 2023 has started rather busy for AB Yachts as it launched its new 80 Sportfly model. Presented as a project in 2020, this AB 80 is the third unit to launch and is set to go in the USA.  The AB 80 replaced the AB78 in 2020 and is the current entry level model from the jet super sport yacht builder specialist.  The AB Yachts 80 will feature a traditional cockpit stern layout with an upper sun-pad, and garage underneath, with an interior of three double cabins and a separate galley located in between the cabins. A crew cabin with two berths is located forward.  Like any AB Yachts these details are subjective as the Viareggio yacht builder builds custom and to order, and an owner can change things before signing on the dotted lines.  The AB Yachts 80 is powered by triple Man 2000hp with MJP Jet propulsion for a top speed of up to 55 knots.  As any AB Yachts the 80 is a superior performance super sport yacht with a hull specially design for jet propulsion, which has been the set up of all AB Yachts produced from fifty up 145 feet and since the yard was founded in 1992.
