New Model: Azimut 43 Magellano

Preceded by the innovative scope of the 74, and the commercial success of the 50, the new 43 is the newest addition to the Magellano collection by Azimut. Within thirteen meters is a concentration of all of the features of the explorer series from Azimut the Magellano: smooth navigation in all conditions, excellent cruising range in a modern and an Italian modern take on the traditional trawler.  Designed like 50 by Cor D.Rover the 43 Magellano is a very intelligent boat which inspires safety with modern design features.  Astern galley in the main deck serving comfortably inside and the outside aft cockpit is one of my preferred features.  Down below is a two or three cabins layout served by two shower heads, with owners cabin to fore.  The third cabin is a single berth option or to starboard, which also be used an utility room.  The flybridge of the 43 Magellano is also quite spacios offering a C-shaped dinette to port with helm opposite, with a free area to stern.  Power is Cummins engines; 305 or 355hp giving max speeds of 22 knots.

Project: Baia 30 Sevolution

Announced in 2010, this Baia new range Sevolution shows the innovative spirit of this Italian, Naples boat builder.  Now Baia goes more into details showing in its recently new web site the two models of the range the 26 and the 30.  The one pictured above is the 30, and will feature the innovative semi displacement shape designed in coperation with Naples Federico university as announced two years ago.  The 30 Sevolution will also be a three deck super yacht, something very fresh from Baia considering that the real flybridge they built was the custom one off 105 in early ninties.  By the way for those that don't know Sevolution is acronym for Sea Explorer Vessel Evolution.  Baia has so far given very little interior planning details for the 30 Sevolution, but as announced a very custom approach should be inline in the models along with a layout of cabins more similar to those of a house.  Top speed are expected to be of 22 knots, with a cruise of 18 and economic of 16.  Hybrid propulsion will be available, along with high use of solar panels, and RINA Green star certification.

Summer launch and world premiere in September for Queens 50 Fly, the new model of the Italian shipyard from Rosignano, in "Le Grand Pavois" at La Rochelle France: thanks to the collaboration with its exclusive area dealer.  The experience of the TDF Studio of architects Locarno and Vienna from Milan, led to a design of modern impact. Engine: Volvo V8 380hp

Volvo Penta announces a new V8-380, an intensely powerful engine that combines efficiency, strength and durability into a state-of-the-art package that delivers on performance and exceeds EPA/CARB requirements.  Volvo Penta’s advanced technology and design innovation combine to give the V8-380 more horsepower with 12% less fuel consumption. The engine includes other key features such as Variable Valve Timing, optimized for maximum low end torque and high end horsepower, and more than 270 pounds of weight savings, making it faster, lighter, and more efficient than the competition; all while still only requiring 87 octane fuel. Tough enough to haul a heavy boat, the V8-380 is also the same engine currently used in GM’s current truck line up, and is considered the most durable Volvo Penta has ever launched. Advancements such as an aluminum exhaust system as part of the complete freshwater cooling system provide additional durability, protection from corrosion, and savings over the life of the engine.

Project: Princess 52 Flybridge

Of the top three known British builders Princess has always been the one most conservative in adapting latest design trends of other Meditteranean builders.  This new 52 which replaces the 50 Mk.3 changes a lot of that as in fact this upcoming Princess model is one of the few builders, second from the Brits jumping on the hook of the astern galley serving the cockpit and the interior saloon.  The Princess 52 seems to bring lots of outstanding features in its layout, which is very well laid and spacious for a flybridge motor yacht measuring just over sixteen meters over all.  Nice features are added with the change position of the galley, which makes the lower deck plan having three double cabins with owners room to midships, and third guest cabin not being a bunk.  Two shower heads of similar size serve the cabins one of which is en suite for the owners stateroom.   Other interesting features are the flybridge which looks spacious for the size, and a bathing platform with up and down easy tender launching.  Princess also advise on the website that the 52 should be a boat which goes on the plane quite easily at low speeds giving owner a wider range of comfortable speeds.  It will be interesting to know if Princess have gone the latest Bernard Olesinski route of flatter Vee aft as the other British builder, though Princess never give dead rise data on the site and technical specification. The Princess 52 will be powered by three engine choices from Volvo 575 or optional 670hp or the largest Cat 715hp this last giving estimated max speeds of 31 knots.

Project: Prestige 620

Prestige present the project for its new 620, a further development of the 2009 launched 60 model.  Designed by Garroni interior and upper structure, with a hull by World famous Micheal Peters specially made for IPS pod drives the 620 will differ from the three year produced 60 for a flybridge redesign, and a new stern layout with larger bathing platform this also available with up down easy tender launch movement.  Down below will be the same equiste layout with the astern galley standing out on the main saloon, and the three double cabins all with personal head taking the show below.  A two person crew cabin is also available to aft.  Power is Volvo 700hp which give max speeds of 30 knots.

New Model: Riviera 445 SUV

Sport Utility Vessel, that is what SUV means an acronym which started in cars having a mix of off-road, station wagon, and a modern look to them.  Rivera achieved this with its new 445 SUV mixing the likes of an express with those of a sportfish, and the comfort of a flybridge.  It is encouraging how the 445 SUV manages to scores good points in all areas without little compromise, and in all this still manages to create something new and fresh in the looks department.  To like in the 445 SUV is the aft deck with its mezzanine and its patio door which opens and creates a single area with the aft deck.  Down below is also a good level of space in two large cabins; owners suite to fore,  three berths midships room, and two heads.  Engines are twin Volvo 435hp with IPS pods propulsion.  We don't have speed data yet but I would imagine these to be similar to that of the 4400 Sport Yacht which delivers top end in mid low thirty knots, and cruise in mid high twenties.
