New Model: Bavaria 420 Virtess

It was one of the most awaited models in the last part of 2012, this is the Bavaria 420 Virtess, designed by Marco Casali who undertook the latest Itama vision since 2004.  This was a challenge for both Casali the designer from Rome, and Bavaria the builder.  For Italian Marco Casali the Virtess is more a commercial project then the more niche status symbol looking Itama, and for Bavaria this represents its first full flybridge motor cruiser.  The Bavaria 420 Virtess is proving to be an interesting flybridge motor cruiser offering incredible well laid layout solution; from the double three cabins lower deck, to the single floor living main deck, and a very modular aft deck which can increase space substantially.  The 420 Virtess is offered with Volvo engine choices from 370 up to 435hp in sterndrive or IPS pods propulsion.

Projects: Bavaria 44 SportHT, Bavaria 44 Sport, Bavaria 35 SportHT, Bavaria 35 Sport, Bavaria 32 Sport, Bavaria 29 Sport

Bavaria is revisiting all its power line with a new collection. Sport 28, 31, 34, 43 will be replaced by the new 29, 32, 35, and 44.  The new developments of these changes started with the change of the 38 which became the 39 at the beginning of this year in Dusseldorf.  Now these changes of a more cosmetic nature, will be passed to all models.  A choice of an up and down hydraulic platform to aft, a rare to find item on stern drive powered boat should also be available on the larger models.  The 35 models upwards will also include a large hull window as standard, another feature presented for the first time on the 39.  Designed in collaboration with BMWGroup Designworks this new Bavaria series has been very much appreciated, and now these new changes should also get the attention of more boaters.

Project: Bavaria 420 Virtess Coupe

Waiting for the official introduction of the 420 Virtess Fly, a second model in the luxury motor boat line is now underway, with the Coupe version of the same model.  The Bavaria 420 Virtess Coupe follows in many the Fly version but adds features as the panoramic sunroof, and a comfortable roof reclining area.  Bavaria has again collaborated once again with Italian designer Marco Casali and his Too Design to create an innovative and stylish coupe. The generous living areas and deck layout provide full comfort for all on board, and copy those of the Fly version. Like a bigger sport yacht the 420 Virtess Coupe has stair-access to its upper deck, which has been specially designed to provide the perfect area to relax with full view all around.  A further highlight is the wide panoramic sun roof, which when opened, allows the helmsman to see over the windshield and ensures that face in the wind feeling. The interior layout with a living with saloon and galley on the main deck, and a lower three double cabins plan, below with owners room to fore follows the plan as the Fly version.  Power options are three Volvo engine choices which start from 370 up to 435hp available in stern drive, and forward looking IPS pod units.

Project: Bavaria 420 Virtess

PowerYacht was among the first to show this new Bavaria project back in the late fall of 2011, at the time announced as 40 Flybridge.  Now Bavaria submits more solid information for its first flybridge motor cruiser, the much awaited three cabin 420 Virtess.  Designed by Marco Casali from Too Design in Rome, who I remind has done a super job with all the Itama by Ferretti Group line, the 420 Virtess presents a modern line with a sleek flybridge design.  The Rome designers not only Casali has always been practical people, and this is confirmed by the clever single level interior main deck which incorporates an L-shaped galley in the forward area, and an entertainment unit opposite the C-shaped settee.  The 420 Virtess will also have important distinctive options with a grey or white color hull choice, and all around Iroko deck.  Weighing at eleven and half tons the first official Bavaria flybridge now known as 420 Virtess will be powered by Volvo 370, up to 435hp engines choices in stern drive or IPS pod propulsion choice.

Project: Bavaria 40 Flybridge

Bavaria presents a project for a new 40 Flybridge model that is due to launch in early 2012. This will be the first flybridge motorboat ever built by Bavaria, although the company has showed project renderings for the 46 Deep Blue Fly a couple years ago.  The project of this new model was done by Italian Rome designer Marco Casali of Too Design, who made a good name for himself since 2005 when he redesigned the new Itama range as owned by Ferretti Group.  Features of the 40 Flybridge include: a generous flybridge with wet bar, lounger and corner seating area. Below deck, there is plenty of space in the three cabins. In addition to the 40 Flybridge, there are two further models already in production with the range having six different models in total. A coupĂ© version of the 40 should be shown later on, and apparently for all the other flybridge models.  Power for the Bavaria 40 Flybridge will from twin Volvo 330hp up 435, in stern drive or IPS pod propulsion.

New Model: Bavaria 43 SportHT

Bavaria continue to update its sport cruiser line, and as it has done in recent years presents the 43 SportHT, the hard top version of 43 Sport model.  Designed by BMW Group DesignworksUSA the 43 SportHT has basically the clever laid plan of the normal open Sport version both above and below decks, and can sleep from six in two cabins, or eight persons in the three cabin optional choice layout.  The cockpit of the 43 is huge, offering an extended bathing platform, aft sun pad, C-shaped dinette, L-shaped settee all to port, and helm with a galley and wet bar behind it to starboard.  This area is up to the dinette covered by the hard top which can nearly all open up.  This makes the 43 SportHT become a very open boat, with the benefits of quick closing the hard top offers.  There is as the standard open version three engine options for the Bavaria 43 SportHT, but I think the gasoline standard power of twin Mercruiser 430hp is very misleading for a boat which has thirteen meters of length and has as its vocation to cruise.

New Model: Bavaria 43 Sport

Bavaria continues to renew its range of motor boats and the 43 Sport represents its second large in size model replacing the 42.  Again the new Bavaria is a design by BMW Group Designworks USA, a collaboration which started with the current 46 Deep Blue flagship and now covers all the motor boat range. Large exterior spaces are the standard of the latest Bavaria and the 43 Sport does not disappoint in this regard offering also a lower deck choice for a two or three cabins plan.  In both cases the owners room is located to fore, with the three cabin version offering a separate shower and head rooms to the master cabin.  In the three cabin version you also get a smaller saloon in L-shaped form versus the larger C-shape found for the standard two cabin version. Power is from twin Mercruiser gas of 430hp or Volvo diesel of 370 or 435hp.  This last optional choice being available in IPS pod propulsion only.

Project: Bavaria 34 Sport HT

As is classic to the last couple years Bavaria strategy, the German boat builder follows the standard open version of the 34 Sport with the HT for hard top version.  Considering how much hard top models are in demand in the last couple years I am still surprised how this sort of concept is not followed often by other builders.  Considering the minimum expense in tooling and the benefits a hard top cruiser usually gives.  The 34 Sport HT builds its foundations on the standard model with the same cockpit, and high free board which allow for a spacious two cabins interior.  Engine power will be in five choices of petrol and diesel, single or twin.  Although my preferred choice has to be for the twin Volvo 220 or 260hp diesel engines.  This giving the 34 Sport HT the added safety of twin engines, and also good speed, making it suitable more for longer cruises.

Project: Bavaria 31 Sport

Bavaria continue to expand its line with the presentation of a new 31 Sport project.  This new dynamic project continues the expansion of the Sport series, and will fit between the 28 and 34 models.  The new 31 Sport follows the tradition of the Bavaria Motor Boat 31 combining excellent space with dynamic design and power. A forward facing co-pilot seat together with the large seating area around the cockpit table allow six people to sit on deck. Typical for all Sport series models is the large bathing platform, spanning across the entire beam, and a spacious sunbathing area complete the comfort on board.  The 31 Sport also offers an excellently exhausted space concept below deck in the sleeping area, with an aft cabin featuring two single berths that can easily be converted into one double bed, and a double vee berth to fore, sleeping a total of four persons. A wide variety of engine choices both petrol or diesel, Mercruiser and Volvo from a single 370hp up to twin 320hp are to be available on the 31 Sport.

Projects: Bavaria 43 Sport, Bavaria 43 Sport HT

Bavaria presents the project for a new 43 Sport series to be available in both open and hard top versions, a model which will replace the long standing 42. These new models follow Bavaria revamp of the line as started with the current motor boat flagship the 46 Deep Blue, and continues the collaboration with BMW Group DesignworksUSA. The 43 Sport open version will only differ from the HT model for the hard top. The interior will be a three cabins six berths, or two cabins four berths choice, and following recent Bavaria trends a huge size cockpit with what looks an up and down hydraulic platform for tender stowage is to be found. Power will be a choice of Volvo's from 370 up 435hp with selection of stern drive or IPS forward looking pods propulsion. The Bavaria 43 Sport HT hard top version continues the large window area theme as seen on the BMW Group designed Bavaria's offering a technical and functional design. Here as it is visible, a lot is coming from the little sister the 38 Sport HT, with advantage of bigger sizes everywhere. The large sunroof can be opened with an integrated manual soft-top, which is also available to operate electrically. Thanks to the low rim in combination with the optional fold-out pedestal, the driver can look outside the windscreen whilst driving without any obstructions. The front wind screen, and side hard top windows can also be chosen to be heated. For the rest this hard top version is identical to the open 43 Sport, with advantage that a more comfortable use can be made during Winter time.

New Model: Bavaria 38 Sport HT

Bavaria continue to develop its new Sport range with the launching of the third model, and first hard top in the range, the 38 Sport HT. The BMW Group DesignWorks USA Sport series was launched a year ago in September 2009 with the 28, and this new 38 Sport HT model as the title says is the hard top version of the open launched in January 2010 at the Dusseldorf show with the same layout in the below cabin and main deck. As said for the open version the 38 Sport HT exterior aft deck offers a variety of features; sun pad aft, C-shaped settee, wet bar with grill, helm station, companion seat, and a lounger to port side fore. The 38 Sport HT hard top which is the difference here allowing all weather rain or sun cruises and features well laid panorama view windows, and a roof which opens up a big portion far down. Below we have the two cabins four plus two berths interior which can be made to suit one taste thanks to three woods and twelve different combinations. Power for the Sport HT is for a five engine, and three stern drive choices two of which are petrol gasoline engines. The smallest and largest options are both diesels starting from twin Volvo's 260hp up to the large 370hp choice.

Project: Bavaria 34 Sport

Bavaria continues to update its Sport Cruiser line up which started with the 28, went into the 38 the past winter, and now goes with this 34 Sport project set to be introduced in the fall of this year. Continuing the partnership started with BMW Group DesignworksUSA for the 46 Deep Blue into the end of 2008, and followed on the Sport models this new Bavaria captures a lot of the features found on the larger latest introduced 38 Sport. The cockpit for example is very similar, as is the high free board, and the layout of the two cabin interior. The 34 Sport also continues in more upgrading from Bavaria being offered with a three wood color, and different upholstery choice. Bavaria also mentions a very competitive price but this is given with petrol gas engines, which makes the capability of a cabin cruiser boat very limited and expensive to run. For any ten metre plus cruiser I always suggest the choice of a twin diesel here offered in three different horse powers from smaller twin 220hp up to large 370hp Volvo's.

New Model: Bavaria 38 Sport

Bavaria continues its cooperation with exterior design partner BMW Group DesignworksUSA, a subsidiary of the BMW Group, originating its third Sport Cruiser with the new 38 Sport presented in Dusseldorf the past January. The new 38 Sport, follows BMW exterior designs as shown on the 46 Deep Blue, and 28 Sport launched in 2009. This 38 Sport also extends concepts as presented by Bavaria with the 37 introduced in 2007; offering a high free board hull, and aft deck giving the feeling of more size then the provided eleven metres. Here in fact the Bavaria 38 Sport offers a sun lounger, C-shaped dinette, passenger settee, galley, and helm station. Down below is space for two double cabins, L-shaped galley, and C-shaped dinette. Diesel engine options are from twin Volvo 260hp up to 370hp, all with stern drive propulsion. Two petrol gas options from Mercruiser and Volvo are also available but I would stay clear of these on a cruiser of this size.

Projects: Bavaria 46 Deep Blue Flybridge, Bavaria 38 Sport HT

German's mass pleasure boat builder challenges the market again by presenting two new projects which are alternate versions of models already presented. The first of these projects is the 46 Deep Blue Flybridge and just like the Open and SportTop version, BMW Group DesignworksUSA are responsible for the exterior design. This new flybridge Motor Cruiser version of the 46 Deep Blue series offers a dual helm station experience combined with more interior space on the main deck. This motor cruiser puts Bavaria into a new league, as in fact it is the German builder first flybridge boat. Opening glass doors welcome you inside, and slide open over the entire boat´s width, which take you to sheltered relaxing areas. The flybridge features the second helm station to starboard, central C-shaped settee aft, and a sunbathing area to fore. Glass surfaces to fore and on the side of the fore deck add to additional natural light to the cabins. Down below just as the other 46 Deep Blue which this Flybridge version shares the hull with, is a three double cabins, and two heads plan. Owners stateroom to fore, and the two double guest cabins to mid ship. Unlike the other 46 Deep Blue in Open or SportTop version, which are powered by Volvo stern drives the Flybridge will have IPS 600 forward looking pods. The other Bavaria project is based on the just presented 38 Sport, latest new launch of Bavaria's sport cruiser line, and follows similar looks to the successful 28 Sport launched in the fall of 2009. As in all its models over thirty feet presented in recent years Bavaria has developed a Hardtop version in close cooperation with BMW Group DesignworksUSA, its partner in terms of exterior design. The new 38 Sport HT will be a good looking sport cruiser offering sporty and dynamic lines, featuring an evolutionary hard top style which joins with the high free board hull and clean design aspects of the new BMW DesignworksUSA projects. Just as the standard 38 Sport the new Sport HT version offers a spaciously arranged cockpit featuring a large seating area, sun, wellness corners, integrated wet bar, and another sunbathing spot on the foredeck. The 38 Sport HT interior is a twin separate cabin, and convertible C-shaped settee plan. Power will be from twin stern drive with the standard starting engines being twin Volvo 320hp petrol engines.
