Project: Fairline Phantom 65

Fairline present the Phantom 65 project, a sport bridge yacht of nineteen meters in length based on the platform of the Targa 65 and Squadron 68 flagship models.  Most interesting is that this project returns the Phantom model series name, albeit in a different dress to what it was in the past. A brief history of the Phantom model series which first appeared in 1974 with the raised bridge 32, and then returning in 1990 with the 41 which at the time was the third largest model in the range, and then becoming from 1994 till 2009 the entry level flybridge motor cruiser range.  The Phantom was a successful range, going up in size to a 50 model produced from 2002 to 2009, with its prettiest being the 46 which sold around two hundred units in a production run which lasted eight years. In 2009 Fairline scraped the Phantom model name marking all new flybridge boats from there onward as Squadron, something which stays as at today. Enters the sport bridge type of Sport Yachts, and Fairline clean off the Phantom name for this 65, what will be its second largest model in the current line up.  The Fairline Phantom 65 will have a main deck layout with astern galley, while four lower deck layouts are available; with the standard being a three ensuited cabins plus a day head layout. Two other options differ on the three cabin layouts, both of which lose the fourth day head; one of which offers a larger VIP suite forward, and an other option offering an utility room. The last fourth option is for a four cabins layout. A single berth crew cabin is located aft to starboard.  The Fairline Phantom 65 will be standard powered by Cats 1150hp good for 31 knots top speed, and or optional 1622hp engines which makes top end go up to 35 knots.

New Model: Cantiere Delle Marche Darwin 106

Cantiere delle Marche has launched its first Darwin 106 model, named m/y Uptight she has been designed to fulfil her owner desire to have a reliable and comfortable explorer super yacht to enjoy months long fishing expeditions in remote and uncontaminated seas. The owners family owns a few fisherman yachts and they wanted to add a slow, displacement explorer vessel to enjoy long expeditions from the moment the yacht leaves the quay to the final destination. Fast trip to fishing spots and adrenaline fishing activities will be held by using the yacht’s large ‘tender’, which is an American Fisherman that will be towed during long trips. The new Darwin 106 is based on the naval platform of the 102, designed, engineered and modified by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec to match her owner requests. For its layout and technical characteristics Darwin 106 meets American standards, according to her Owner’s wishes the yacht features a specifically designed layout with a country kitchen which opens onto the main salon giving the whole environment an informal atmosphere and, instead of a sky-lounge, the Upper Deck hosts a panoramic Owner Stateroom. The most peculiar feature of Darwin 106 is the aft cockpit fitted as that to a sportfisherman. The stern platform has been transformed into an enclosed cockpit with a bulwark. A ‘battle station’ has been centrally placed in the cockpit, and fishing will be carried in ‘stand up’ position allowing multiple strikes to be managed at the same time, giving more fun to the ‘fishing family’. Screw-less rod holders, have been placed on the large teak cap-rail around the cockpit, all equipped with drainages and an easy access for periodic maintenance. Many lockers holding tackle boxes are encompassed into the fishing cockpit bulwarks while flush floor tanks with water recirculation and pump for live fish bait are located on the transom and below the cockpit floor. The adjoining lazarette is arranged cohesively with the fishing activities and include a small yet fully equipped workshop. A double Eskimo ice maker with both salt and fresh water is in the main cockpit alongside a few freezers located beneath the sofa. In order to increase the range also in terms of food loading capacity, the storage space has been improved and optimized for long term food conservation. An outstanding interior layout makes the most out of the 255GT of the Darwin 106. The interior, decorated by Francesco Guida, features a large and welcoming main salon with lounging and dining areas in direct connection with the galley located to port side. Three crew cabins are located on the main deck forward alongside a crew mess. Five guest cabins; two double, a large Vip and two twins are on the lower deck. The Owner stateroom open onto the upper deck stern terrace. On the same deck there is a roomy and well-appointed wheelhouse. A large Sun deck, equipped with all amenities to spend hours enplein air, tops the yacht’s nicely shaped superstructure. Darwin 106 displacement hull is fitted with twin Cats 670hp engines which deliver a top speed of thirteen knots, and a remarkable range of above 4700 nautical miles at nine knots.

New Launch: F&S 61 Hardtop Express Hull #30

FandS present the 61 hardtop express, hull number 30 and called Soul Candy by its owner.  FandS hull thirty was designed as a family-friendly express sportfish yacht with space for entertaining, with a host of custom options that allow the owner-operator to communicate and interact with the crew on fishing trips to the Gulf of Mexico and the Bahamas. One of the primary challenges with FandS hull #30 was to add a tall owner, and superior interior headroom. Keeping the sweeping lines FandS is known for, while accommodating someone of height, would require some out-of-the-gate thinking. The design team created a two meters plus character named Fred within the CAD program, who would be moved around the virtual boat to be sure proper clearance of areas such as the companionway, staterooms and showers. Cad-Fred was also integral to helm line-of-sight, both while running and to the angler in the fighting chair, and because the interior space is directly connected to all the exterior dimensions, it was necessary to consider every detail. FandS 61 Hardtop Express features an eleven squared meters cockpit deck which easily fits the large fighting chair with an offset pedestal and on-deck tuna tubes, essential when you plan on fighting some of the monsters living near the rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. The classic straight lines of the teak cockpit boards tame the curvy, signature FandS radial mezzanine and transom live-well. A giant lazarette is accessible by way of a Freeman Marine deck hatch located under the chair’s footrest and ensures safe, dry storage below for the multitude of systems located there. The bright interior of the helm deck is striking. The hardtop express design allows for a view of the world around her, and FandS takes the view to new levels by incorporating one giant piece of custom curved glass on each side. By doing so, there is little to break that uninterrupted sightline, providing a true, 360-degree perspective. FandS 61 Hardtop Express runs smooth and quiet at all speeds, thanks to the twin MTU 1600hp engines giving a solid cruising speed of 35 knots and a top end of 42 knots.
