Project: Sunseeker 133 Yacht

During the Cannes boat show Sunseeker announced the exciting new 133 Yacht project.  This radical super yacht has been designed with a dramatic new round-bilge semi-displacement hull form, paving the way for a completely new design philosophy for the next generation of Sunseeker yachts. The new 133 Yacht, part of the new Superyacht series, is the first-ever Sunseeker with a vertical bow and with a beam of nine meters, and contains 27 percent more interior volume than its sistership, the 131 Yacht. Remarkably, she offers just 15% less volume than the previous flagship 155 Yacht and with a gross tonnage of 448 GT, she is to be powered by twin MTU 2636hp for a maximum top speed of 24kts or efficient displacement cruising over distances of as much as 3,500nm.  MTU’s Hybrid system can now also be specified for the first time with their smaller 12V engines to deliver a multitude of scenarios from improving range still further to allowing zero emissions whilst cruising or anchoring.  The new 133 Yacht is part of a major new product development plan announced by Sunseeker’s CEO, Andrea Frabetti and she will be ready to launch in 2021. Sunseeker has designed the 133 Yacht with discerning clientele in mind. It understands that customers are spending more time on board, both at sea and at anchor, with increased comfort and the quality of life on board of supreme importance. The new 133 Yacht will benefit from reduced noise, more usable space and the latest technology including SCR systems, future-proofing against upcoming changes to emission regulations.  Another fantastic feature of the 133 Yacht is the configuration of the upper ‘Sky Lounge’ deck. Owners can access the foredeck via two parallel side stairwells or through the upper deck itself allowing seamless access and less movement through the interior of the yacht.  The fresh design direction for this new model goes beyond her dramatic new exterior lines. There is flexibility in how the ‘Beach Club’ and tender arrangements can be configured. The first option is to have a traditional garage with ample stowage for PWC’s, toys and equipment or alternatively, owners can choose to have a dedicated full beam, spacious Beach Club at the stern whilst a Williams 460 SportJet tender sits within the foredeck spa pool, launched via its adjacent crane. In this scenario, owners may wish to tow a larger tender, such as Sunseeker’s own high performance Hawk 38.  The aft deck entertainment area is fully integrated into the overall design, merging seamlessly with the vast saloon due to its fully-flush floor. In addition, the transition between the two spaces is replicated overhead thanks to the linear detail of the ceiling panels. A central bar unit sits just aft of the saloon, fully opened to the outdoors via invisible bi-fold doors on either side and an electrically lowering central glass panel. Entertaining in style across such considerable interior and exterior decks just got a lot more interesting.  Creating an important first impression, guests are welcomed on board via double doors amidships leading to a spacious starboard lobby. Within is a feature staircase across all floors allowing access to the main saloon and dining areas aft and master and guest cabins forward. On the port side, the side deck and side door on both main decks can be used exclusively for crew, thereby aiding the privacy of owner and guests.  The interiors, designed by long-term partner Design Unlimited are understandably opulent but the first impression is one of light, space, detail, technology and infinite mood choice via subtle lighting integration.  This is a yacht that owners and guests will want to spend extended time on board whether that be inside in immense luxury or the numerous entertaining spaces outdoors from the foredeck, ‘Sky Lounge’, aft deck or impressive ‘Beach Club’ with direct water access.

Project: Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht

Sunseeker is proud to release details of all-new 65 Sport Yacht. Launching in the fall of 2020, the new yacht showcases a fresh design from Sunseeker’s next generation of models and underlines the brand’s commitment to bringing more exciting new products.  Sunseeker's Design and Technology Centre based in Poole, have been developing this new model for over a year. Embodying the latest design synonymous with Sunseeker, the 65 Sport Yacht will be fundamentally different from the current range in the segment due to its sculptured exterior design, innovative helm concept and stylish interior appointments. No single area has been left unchallenged in the search for perfection.  Her sleek exterior profile, with an almost invisible minimalist bridge deck, have been enhanced by the addition of rakish hull glazing, emphasizing her modern sporting prowess whilst increasing natural light into the lower deck spaces. The exterior is a cool blend of tinted glazing, teak, carbon fiber and polished stainless steel; perfectly balancing the traditional with hi-tech to enhance the emotional and performance traits of this dynamic new model.  Central to this yacht’s appeal, the modular sport bridge can be specified in two ways; a standard ‘Sky Lounge’ with comfortable chaise lounge and companion seating or a revolutionary and truly innovative ‘Sky Helm’. Featuring twin bolstered seats set very low either side of a central console, instrumentation is courtesy of a state-of-the-art glass bridge plotter complete with retro chrome dials. This design sets-off a very modern fully-carbon steering arm that can be raised to ease ingress into this racing-cockpit design or locked in a raised position for helming while standing. Cleverly, both helm seats can pivot aft for socializing while the windscreen can also tilt up and down depending on the driver’s preference and desire to be connected to the elements. Taken all together, the experience is one of pure adrenaline, akin to driving a high-performance convertible super-car and absolutely unique.  In line with this new model’s sporting credentials, access to the sport bridge is made from a lightweight feature staircase crafted from stainless steel, carbon and teak.  New ideas continue apace, not least within the vast modular cockpit which can be specified in a number of ways. Set to port is an over-sized J-shaped lounge seating running aft from the galley across the width of the cockpit matched to a large sun pad over the garage space. Alternatively, with centrally located lounge seating forward of the sun pad, the galley window can retract electrically to convert the area into a very sociable bar unit with matching stools. To starboard, the over-lapping entrance glazing slides effortlessly away allowing the cockpit to merge seamlessly with the generous and comfortable interior dominated by the superstructure’s expansive glazing. Here, the saloon has received numerous enhancements through both new designs to furniture and subtle but highly effective detailing of the sculpted upholstery and cabinetry incorporating polished stainless-steel highlights. The over-sized integrated skylight above the helm opens to more than two meters in width, flooding the living space forward with even more natural light. Accommodating up to six guests in a three-cabin layout, the spacious, full beam master stateroom includes a generous en-suite while the forward VIP cabin has been designed thoughtfully to give even more space. Each guest cabin is equipped with an en-suite and there is an additional day-head below. Optionally, an open-plan Owner’s Office linked to the master stateroom, an additional single-berth cabin or mini-galley can be specified below, delivering flexibility for any owner.  A clever new design sees the fully-appointed crew cabin situated forward of the garage and accessed via a dedicated raised hatch in the cockpit, all made possible by the IPS installation. This is important as an extra wide tender garage with fully-flush floor allows a 3.45 meter Jet RIB to be carried and launched via a new diagonal sliding hydraulic bathing platform, a first for any yacht in this sector. The additional garage space can be utilised for SeaBobs, inflatable paddleboards, diving equipment or racking.  Should an owner wish to carry the tender on the bathing platform, the vacated space can be specified as a dedicated and fully-featured ‘Beach Club’ with direct sea access via molded steps and more modular options for bar, fridge/ice maker units, BBQ and free-standing seating. In either scenario, the open garage door incorporates twin integrated rain-showers and speakers overhead; perfect for parties in or near the water. Molded steps featuring curved Flexiteek soles sweep up either side creating a fully symmetrical stern, enhancing her dynamic lines and inherent beauty.  The Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht cuts an equally important performance figure water with speeds of up to 38 knots courtesy of the Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp engines with IPS pod drives propulsion.

Standard guest configuration is for ten guests in five cabins, with scope for up to twelve to be accommodated depending upon layout chosen. Hull one is due for launch in Spring 2021, with construction apparently taking place at Icon Yachts in Holland.  Construction will be of alloy while hull is of fast displacement type allowing for speeds up to twenty knots.

Robert Braithwaite 1943 - 2019

Sadly, in the early hours of morning 7th March 2019, Sunseeker’s founder Robert Braithwaite passed away.  Robert was an inspiration to everyone at Sunseeker and to the wider marine industry, recognized as a boating pioneer, a true visionary and someone who changed the face of boating.  Robert was not only the company’s founder but the father of the Sunseeker family from Dorset, and worldwide through our its dealers and clients. Robert Braithwaite will always live on as the driving force behind Sunseeker's success.  Robert started the Sunseeker journey in 1960 first founding Poole Powerboats, as a dealer and importer of small and medium sized sports boats and cruisers and eventually venturing into boat building and founding Sunseeker. From the mid eighties onward Sunseeker has seen growth of market share and size, with an important milestone being reached in 1995 when the company launched the Predator 80, its first super yacht over 24 meters in size, which was the sign of bigger things to come.  Since over a decade Sunseeker is a front runner in the top ten builders of super yachts over 24 meters in length, and have so far build up to a 155 feet size in length.  Sunseeker was also an innovator among the British production boat builders being the first to produce boats, designed around the Mediterranean sporty side of the market. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his immediate family.

Project: Sunseeker 8X

Sunseeker is proud to release details of its exciting new project the 8X. Launching in autumn 2020 project 8X showcases a fresh design direction for Sunseeker’s next generation of larger models and underlines the brand’s commitment to bringing even more exciting new products to market. Exemplifying the latest in Sunseeker’s cutting-edge design and innovative build processes, project 8X will be fundamentally different from the current range. Exemplifying the feel of a true superyacht, 8X’s stand-out features will be its striking lines, incredible volume, a sophisticated open-plan interior and a new ‘Beach Club’ concept, offering four times the area of a traditional bathing platform design.  Heralding an entirely new design, the beach club’s inset transom and bathing platform has been developed into a highly specified entertainment area of its own. With extensive stowage for a plethora of toys including a four meter plus rib tender and Jet-ski, it features an integrated remote-controlled tender crane within the aft coming, SeaBob deck lockers, optional 3.2m x 2.5m hydraulic bathing platform, a ‘self-levelling’ step passarelle, built-in drawer BBQ, dedicated refrigeration and overhead rain shower; perfect for those blissful days on the water.  A key feature to be found throughout the yacht is the ample exterior space; designed with entertainment in mind, she offers plentiful seating, dining and sunbathing options across multiple spaces, all with new recessed ambient lighting central to their appeal.  Stepping up to the cockpit with glazed balustrade and powered mesh privacy blinds, the cockpit seating will be configurable to the owner’s wishes whilst a secondary wet bar complete with sink, fridge, ice-maker and preparation surfaces creates a self-sufficient aft entertaining space. The optional side access ladder with dedicated stowage provides easy access to port or starboard when moored alongside.  The spacious fore-deck offers the perfect place to relax and unwind, boasting ‘vantage-point’ seating to its aft and both side decks. Central is the large sunbathing area that comes complete with optional powered backrests and sail canopies across all seating areas. Remarkably, the fore-deck can also incorporate a 140 inch cinema screen, laser projector and surround sound, previously unheard of in this size range and great for evening entertainment under the stars.  The flybridge will provide for yet another dedicated entertainment space with an expansive wet bar with stools, BBQ, helm drawer fridges, companion helm seating and optional hot tub. The carbon fibre hardtop with full-width retractable canopy provides the shade for an exceptionally generous seating and dining area that can be configured or left open-plan depending on the owner’s exact requirements.  The Sunseeker 8X will feature a unique main deck, penthouse style saloon and luxurious staterooms offer a new found design direction and materials selection providing elegant interiors to enchant any owner. The interior finish combines traditional elegance with contemporary updates. The layering of textural elements and the mix of furnishings and fabrics feels timeless with a modern twist that oozes sleek simplicity and sophistication.  The considerable saloon measures a remarkable 8.8m in length by 5.6m width providing space for sumptuous modular lounge seating and chaise lounge to port; all made possible by the clever concealment of multiple service items such as the chiller units. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the living accommodation with natural daylight complimented by sliding doors to port if required. A dedicated dining area for eight can be positioned to port or starboard whilst a contemporary apartment-style galley forward, with partition screens if required, offers plentiful space and direct side deck access for crew.  The lower helm, with additional dedicated side deck access, can be specified with a 3.7m skylight to flood the area with light, accentuating the carbon fiber detail to the console and raised companion seating to port. Provision is also made for a day-head to port, rare on a yacht of this size.  The elegant furnishings and flawless design are replicated below deck. A spectacular wooden feature wall leads owners into the luxurious full beam master stateroom offering panoramic views via its 2.5m feature windows. Creating the feel of a penthouse, the furniture has been carefully designed keeping in mind the yacht’s elegant lines, with sweeping curved bulkheads, textured paneling, curved sofa, vanity desk and a super king slatted bed that offers additional stowage below. A full-width decorative bulkhead mirror houses the television, complementing yet again this yacht’s array of advanced technology. A key feature to the stateroom are ‘his and hers’ pivot-hinge wardrobes and drawer units adjoining feature lobby shelving sitting behind paneled full-height mirrors. The generous en-suite incorporates a floating vanity unit with twin porcelain sinks, back-lit framed mirrors, more drawer stowage and a freestanding Axor shower.  A further forward VIP cabin with dedicated access and two twin aft cabins which can be converted into doubles, provides a yacht that can comfortably sleep eight guests in the same modern, cosseting comfort afforded to the master.  For the charter market, an optional fifth cabin is even possible in lieu of the standard master stateroom whilst for certain markets, a lower galley with direct crew cabin access is also feasible. The crew cabin, with capacity for four or five, benefits from a kitchenette, crew mess, en suite and provision of 2 appliances.  Sunseeker project 8X is set to surprise and delight at every turn. Every single element has been carefully considered in meticulous detail, exuding a sophistication and detail hitherto only found in custom super-yachts.  Sunseeker is very tight lipped on the size and propulsion details for the new 8X what looks a fresh new design direction for the famous British name.  Will it have the substance? But to speculate we imagine the 8X to compete in around the 80 to 89 feet size, and possibly also feature a semi-planing hull, and extra range at medium cruise speeds.  The Sunseeker 8X does look a very direct competitor to the Sanlorenzo SX, which considering  the sales of the later why not.

New Model: Sunseeker 50 Predator

Sunseeker is usually associated of presenting products of a modern pedigree, always with that something newer and latest to the previous model.  So when Sunseeker introduced the new 50 Predator, it was interesting to see the builder taking an evaluation step and looking to the basics in what it has offered in the fifteen to eighteen meter sizes in the last six to eight years and delivering it in a fifteen meter package.  The new 50 Predator is a modern sport yacht, it is in the end a Sunseeker, and in its size it still one of the most future looking machines, but is also spacious and in its category of a fifteen meter sports yacht possibly offers the most space.  But the more you analyze the 50 Predator more interesting its gets especially when you see it is powered by a basic line shaft propulsion, and yet in all this still offers a much more spacious interior to that of the 50 San Remo it replaces.  The full beam midships owners cabin of the 50 Predator is bigger to that of the San Remo, as is all the lower and main deck.  So the questions comes automatic without IPS pod drives, and only half a meter more of length how did Sunseeker manage to find all this space in the 50 Predator?  The Sunseeker 50 Predator is one of the most exciting boats I have seen from Poole and is a class leader in its size and in all this to what I have heard is also competitively priced.

New Model: Sunseeker 76 Yacht

The 23 meter motor yacht has always been an important size category for the famous production boat builders, considered a step away from super yachting yet expected to offer similar size and benefits of the one meter larger vessels which enter into small ship category in various registries.  Sunseeker 76 Yacht is the Poole boat builder new offer in this size, replacing the 2014 born 75 Yacht and presents itself with an interesting mix of sporty looks and spacious interiors.  The new Sunseeker 76 Yacht unlike the previous 75 which was an evolution of the 70 and 73 models features a totally new hull, which is wider and also offers more space both inside and outside.  Thanks to this it reported an instant success with eighteen orders being made on plan before the first hull was even completed.  Full glazed windows are part of the package of the 76 Yacht and as any new Sunseeker model of the last decade we see the glass versus fiberglass coefficient increase.

Project: Sunseeker 50 Predator

Sunseeker adjourns the the Predator family by an all-new 50, the new entry point for this definitive range. Setting a new benchmark for the smaller performance format, the innovative Predator 50 is remarkable in offering both open and closed capabilities.  Exemplifying the latest in Sunseeker’s cutting-edge design, every detail of the Predator 50 has been designed to perfection, but this new boat’s hidden treasure is the entertainment space that it affords. The Predator 50’s design is enhanced by the addition of a fully opening hardtop roof and a beautifully executed folding cockpit door and hinged window providing an open plan cockpit/saloon. This is complemented by forward and aft cockpit seating which can be folded down to create an enlarged sun bathing area. The spacious saloon makes an equally idyllic setting for entertaining guests in opulent luxury with panoramic views. This makes the Predator 50 a truly open or enclosed cockpit boat, unusual in this size of sports boat.  The interior is just as impressive, with a combination of fine materials and large windows ensuring the full-beam master stateroom, which comes with a generous en-suite, achieves the perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The forward VIP cabin exudes a light yet luxurious feel and features a scissor berth for complete flexibility. Up to four guests can be catered for in style and comfort on the water or an additional bunk cabin can be created in lieu of the lower saloon thereby providing accommodation for six persons in three cabins.  Another key feature for this model is the ample exterior space. A stylish and highly sociable deck boasts a spacious foredeck seating and sunbathing area complete with optional retractable pram hood canopy. Moving aft, Sunseeker’s beach club concept offers an inviting space for family and friends to enjoy the optional built-in BBQ, overhead ‘rain shower’ and fold-down transom seating.
