Project: Riva 27 Iseo

Riva presents the project of the 27 feet Iseo, which is a day cruiser model set to launch in the coming Summer. As in all new Riva's of the last decades the new entry level Iseo is a project of Mauro Micheli's Officina Italian Design, who since the Ferretti Group take over in 1999 is helped by the brand AYT, and the recently formed Centro Stile departments. As was the case of the Aquariva, one of the first Ferretti produced Riva's, the Iseo recalls the history of this brand; which apart the most famous Aquarama launched a lot of similar wood constructed runabouts under thirty feet long from 1946 up till 1986 as the Corsaro, Tritone, Ariston, Scoiattolo, Sebino, Florida, Junior, and Olympic. The Riva Iseo continues the bond with these old models something seen in the uncluttered lines, extensive use of mahogany wood, and a twenty coat varnish finish divided equally in brushing and spraying. But apart celebrating the past Riva Iseo makes shouts to the future thanks to the option of hybrid Ferretti Zero Emission Mode option, and the choice of having a GPS infotainment system built for an Apple IPad platform. Another curious collection option will also be a custom Riva Iseo trailer. Power for the two berth cuddy cabin Riva Iseo will be a single diesel Yanmar engine from 260 standard, or optional 320hp, and a petrol gas Mercruiser 380hp choice. Top speeds are 37 knots with Yanmar 320hp diesel, and 38 knots with Mercruiser petrol.

New Model: Riva 33ft Aquariva by Marc Newson

After the Cento celebrating the first one hundred builds, the just launched Gucci version, Riva adds another exclusive Aquariva jewel with the new version by Marc Newson. The Aquariva by Marc Newson which will be limited built to only twenty two units is the most extravagant of the unique versions of this model and apart finishing details, also offers differences in the exterior design. Newson's Aquariva is unique in its conception, as well as the materials chosen changing the wood and stainless steel finishes with unheard materials. A wood-like, textile-based laminate Phenolic composite is used for the deck area and instrument panel. This material was developed in the first half of the twentieth century, and was a precursor to fibreglass. To give the exterior a more high tech look, anodized aluminium a light weight material not generally associated with boats; is used in lieu of stainless steel and chrome brass, yet remains contextual among Riva’s glamour and classical design. Aquariva by Marc Newson changes outside are truly innovative: the re-imagining of the transom, the wrap-around, laminated glass windscreen, split cabin door entry, functionality of the lounge and dining area, and the re-introduction of separate driver and passenger seats. Power for this third unique Aquariva by Marc Newson follows the other models with a twin Yanmar 380hp giving a top speed of 41 knots. Aquariva by Marc Newson which was announced as a project earlier on this year was recently launched as a limited edition of 22 units, and is available worldwide through Gagosian Gallery.

The Aquariva Gucci will be a limited production model and represents the original version with some added details which mark the exclusivity signature. The details are paramount to this new version; the fiberglass hull painted in Gucci's unique hue white color, waterproof fabric which covers the seat and sundeck will have the Guccissima print, bed upholstery in Gucci white cotton, Gucci green-red-green web detailing which edges the floating line, unique green crystal windshield, and last is a series of Riva by Gucci accessories. Project: Riva 33ft Aquariva by Marc Newson

In a unique collaboration, Marc Newson has partnered with Riva and their official designers, Officina Italiana Design, to reinterpret the Aquariva speed boat. 'Aquariva by Marc Newson' will be launched as a limited edition of 22 units in September 2010, available worldwide through Gagosian Gallery. Newson's design for the Aquariva vessel is unique in its conception, as well as the materials chosen. A wood-like, textile-based laminate (phenolic composite) was used for the deck area and instrument panel. This material was developed in the first half of the 20th century, and was a precursor to fibreglass. While having an ostensibly organic feel and aesthetic, it is significantly more durable than wood. To give the exterior a more high tech look, Newson utilized anodized aluminium, a material not generally associated with boats; this lightweight material is used in lieu of stainless steel and chrome brass, yet remains contextual among Riva’s glamour and classical design. Respecting the DNA of the original project created by Officina Italiana Design was paramount to Newson's design for Aquariva. With this in mind, some of the changes he makes are truly innovative: the re-imagining of the transom, the wrap-around, laminated glass windscreen, the split cabin door entry, the functionality of the lounge and dining area, and the re-introduction of separate driver and passenger seats. Aquariva by Marc Newson's simplicity and functionality are what make the boat truly extraordinary. The end product of Newson's design is an uprated Riva complete with a bow thruster and state-of-the-art electronic transmission.

New Model: Riva 86 Domino

Riva's new 86 Domino is a new Super Sport Yacht featuring clean, winning lines designed by long time designer for the status symbol builder Mauro Micheli Officina Italiana Design. This 26 metre open hard top immediately impresses with her balanced beauty showing a unique special personality, through which the aggressive character of all Riva's transpires. This character is further enhanced by the new Metallic Ice colour covering hull and deck house, creating a spectacular, high-impact effect. Designed for those who love sporty lines which in no way affect the yacht's simple style, the new 86 Domino is an evolution of size and concept from the 63 Vertigo, and 68 Ego Super models. Owner and guests can enjoy more space, and a number of different areas for socialising, characteristics which make this yacht ideal for both long cruises and daily life on board. As already seen on the 2008 new model the 92 Duchessa, the Domino also features the large sundeck on the foredeck, featuring a dinette with a table for six. There is further seating aft with another table seating six guests, and a comfortable sofa. The 86 Domino also follows recent trends of a sport flybridge with an upper sundeck perfectly integrated into the lines meaning it cannot be perceived from outside. This area features a second helm station, ideal for mooring manoeuvres, and a sunpad with a reclining back which can accommodate three guests. The closed, air-conditioned main deck upper salon, creates an open space area with the dinette, and is separated from the helm station by a large LCD television. This solution guarantees the passage of natural light both through the large side windows and the windshield, fully lighting this area. The design of the furnishing elements, and the choice to match the special shades of elm and grey with natural-coloured leather inserts and grey lacquering make this an attractive, welcoming environment, emphasising the spaciousness. The fully-equipped galley is located on a middle level between lower and main deck, and accessed from the left hand side of the helm station, whilst the crew cabins for four persons are accessed from the stern cockpit. They feature a head and dinette, guaranteeing total privacy for owners and their guests. The special design of the large window in correspondence with the full beam master cabin located amidships follows the surfaces of the hull, integrating into it perfectly and ensuring as much light as possible in this environment. Equipped with an en-suite head and walk-in wardrobe, the master cabin also has a private living-room area and vanity. The VIP cabin, with en-suite head, is located at bow, whilst two twin-bedded guest cabins with en-suite heads, are located between this and the master suite. The port side guest cabin also features a system of sliding beds on tracks that allows to transform it into a second, double-bedded cabin. Fitted with twin 2435hp MTU engines and a system for managing and controlling all on board functions, Riva's new 86 Domino guarantees an excellent performance and total sailing comfort, reaching a top speed of 38 knots and a cruise speed of 34.

New Model: Riva 92 Duchessa

After the hugely successful 115 Athena, flagship of the fleet since 2005, Riva continues its adventure in the super yacht segment, with a new, refined model. New Model: Riva 56 SportRiva

Launched on the 9th of August during the Riva Gala in Porto Cervo, the new Riva 56 SportRiva is one of the most expected models to feature in the coming Autumn shows, due to it's innovative exterior design of a sport flybridge yacht. While sport flybridge boats are increasing in the last period, especially over the 25 metres plus dimension on the open sports yacht style, in the 17 metre size this is a new concept and the SportRiva captures this spirit and invents a design philosophy. With this model I remember of past models from the glorious yacht builder, like the 42 Caribe or the 34 Portofino. Again the Sarnico Riva reinvents motor yachting.

Project: Riva 56 Sportfly

After announcing this new project on Poweryacht Blog in April, finally we can have some more detailed information of this new concept by Riva. The new 56 footer by Riva has a name what will be called the SportRiva 56' "sportfly", a yacht which integrates the flybridge concept with the sporty lines of an Open, whilst still maintaining Riva's inimitable style, designed by the skilful hand of Mauro Micheli together with the team at Officina Italiana Design. The new motor yacht follows what is a "Sporty glamour" philosophy and sets between the 52 and 63 feet of open models 52 Rivale and 63 Vertigo and is the first in a new line called SportRiva, whose models will be defined by their length. This new collection has been studied to satisfy the demands of owners who, while not wishing to renounce to the lines of an Open, prefer the convenience of a closed, air-conditioned upper salon, ideal for countries with a tropical clime. The sporty character, outcome of an original concept, is underlined by aggressive and gritty lines that give the boat a strongly dynamic appearance which, together with a number of highly innovative solutions, such as the wide external living area and the central stairway providing easy access to the fly makes this yacht a true jewel of modern design. Her style, luxury, the valuable materials used and painstaking care taken over detail balance out the "futuristic" attributes. This results in a yacht, like all the shipyard's models that exudes the taste of Riva's many year tradition, and her beauty is destined to last.
