New Model: Princess Y80

During the Cannes 2023 boat show in September, Princess debuted the new Y80, a pocket super yacht which replaces the Y78 after three years in production.  The new Y80 is the second sized Princess's four model Y-range which starts with the Y72 and goes up to the Y95 which launched in the end of 2022.  The Y80 is designed by automotive famous Italian Pininfarina studio and naval architecture coming from the four decades plus collaboration with Olesinski.  For this pocket-sized super yacht Pininfarina and Princess presented a very clean profile for a Mediterranean style both inside and outside, and a soft S-shear line which goes up slightly forward.  Below is also a traditional four cabins layout with the usual full beam owners stateroom at midships, a VIP suite forward, and two guest cabins in between.  The saloon gives an open space feel, further enhanced by the uninterrupted views provided by the floor to ceiling windows.  There is a certain cleanliness of the design which makes it modern yet cosy without feeling minimal.  The main deck also comes with a few options from the standard open galley which can be ordered to become enclosed by electrical move-up panels, and a choice for the aft deck, from the standard traditional forward looking C-shaped dinette to a veranda styled and glazed stern for open views.  The Princess Y80 is standard powered by twin Man 1650hp for speeds up to 29 knots and or 1900hp option for an extra three knots at wide open throttle.

Projects: Princess S65, Princess V65

Princess present the project for a second generation S65, and a model set to replace the S66 produced from 2019.  The new Princess S65 gets the Pininfarina design treatment outside with a redesign of the upper structure, now cleaner and less busy with softer lines and the additional now fore to aft never ending hull windows.  The new Princess S65 is based on the 2023 outgoing 2019 launched S66, with an identical beam and a bit more length, and will feature the same astern galley four double cabins lower deck layout. Apart the looks the key differences in the S65 are in the aft deck, fore-deck sun-pad, and the sport-fly-bridge.  The aft deck will have a difference with the flybridge stair case now moved to port side from starboard, while to starboard side of the patio door will be an option to have a unit or an additional L-shaped settee looking aft. The fore deck sun-pad is to be split in two with a central passageway, with these offering a three movement pattern for a standard sun bathing layout, lounges with raised back, and a settee facing backwards to socialize with the forward C-shaped dinette.  The last of these changes is in the flybridge with the dinette located to starboard position and a wet-bar aft of the bridge.  The second generation Princess S65 just as the outgoing S66 is to be powered by twin Man 1400hp engines with line shaft propulsion for top speeds up to 38 knots.

The project for a new V65 will mark the fourth generation of this model, which is to be based and all but identical to the S65 but without a sport bridge.  So the V65 is the exact same as the S65, including the four double cabins and astern galley main deck layout, with the main difference that it does not feature a fly-sport bridge up top, this replaced by a larger half-roof size opening hard-top.  The V65 carries a certain history in Plymouth, with the first generation debuting in 2000 as the flagship and largest ever made Princess sport yacht in those times.  The first generation will sell very well for Princess, about fifty units in four years.  A new mark.2 which is a redesign of the first generation using the same hull but new super structure looks, fully enclosed hard-top with patio door, and a full beam owners stateroom will debut in 2005 produced till 2008.  The last third version is produced from 2018 till 2021 and features the same hull as this new version, which debuted with the S65 in 2015.

Princess New Web Site

Princess updates it's new World wide web showroom to a new version. Princess which is today one of the most World famous production yacht builders was founded in 1965, at the time named Marine Projects and launching a 31 feet motor cruiser. From the early seventies and for thirty years Marine Projects also owned sailing yacht builder Moody, in this period developing forty models and selling over four thousand units.  In 1981 Princess will make an important move hiring Bernard Olesinski to design the 30DS model, who since then has designed all Princess models hull shape.  Interesting to note that the 30DS will be one of Princesses best selling models, with over five hundred units sold in a ten year production which also includes the flybridge version released in 1986. In 1983 Princess enters the open sport cruiser market with the Riviera line, first is the 286 model, followed by a 36, with the larger being the 46, and smallest the 266, with seven Riviera models being made till 1994.  Following from the Riviera in 1995 Princess present the V series line of open sport cruisers and yachts.  The V series is distinctive and modern with its Italian design inspired integrated windshield radar arch and straight lines, and starts with the V39 and V52 models. The V series expands into integrated hard-top design first with the V65 launched in 2000, and its largest model to date is the not still produced 2010 launched V85-S.  Currently the V-series offers five models from the V40 to the V65.  In 1996 Princess launched the Metre line of flagship motor yachts, first with the 20 Metre, then 22 Metre.  In 2001 Princess enters the 24 meters plus super yacht size with the 25 Metre, flagship model and largest build of the time. Another important Metre model will be the good selling 23 model. In 2011 Princess pushes more into super yacht launching the M class line, first with 32M, which is followed in 2012 by the largest Princess to date and composite boat ever build in the UK the 40M. The M series which had a total of four models including the 35M and 30M, this smaller M being the newer and last model in the line, was dropped in 2020.  Princess is since Winter 2023 owned by American private equity firm KPS Capital Partners. who takes over from French investing company Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton and Group Arnault the owners from 2008. Previous to this and from 1981 Princess was owned by Renwick Group from South Africa. The Princess current line up offers nineteen models in five different lines; X Class, Y Class, F Class, S Class, and V Class. The current Princess entry level model is the V40 while the flagship models are Y95 and the X95. Princess latest 2023 models are S72 and Y80, with upcoming new projects for an S80, S65, and a V65. Princess new web site is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese language and takes you around with the following buttons: Our Craft, Our Brand, Careers, and Find a Distributor.  Princess is also on social media with link buttons on the bottom of the page taking you to its; Facebook, Twitter. Improve-it = Princess Y85

Princess is offering a new infinity cockpit choice for its Y85 model.  This new infinity cockpit arrangement option of the Princess Y85 rethinks the traditional layout to allow guests to experience the vista whilst cruising to their next destination, with the dinette located to the length and opposing settees looking to the sides leaving an uncluttered stern view.  This option is an alternative to the standard aft deck layout of the traditional C-shaped dinette.

Project: Princess S80

Princess announce the latest edition to their S Class sport-bridge range, with the new S80 project, set to launch in end 2023.  Designed by Pininfarina for exterior lines, Olesinski doing the naval engineering, and Princess design department joining all together the S80 is to be the new S-class range flagship replacing the 2018 launched S78. She is also the largest S model ever made, although Princess did make the V85-S from 2010 to 2012 sold in six units.  The S range launched in 2014 with the S72 and up until that time the sport bridge line was part of the V series with an S added at the end.  The Princess S80 will offer a four double cabin guest cabin accommodation layout with a crew cabin aft. Layout choices are available for the flybridge in dinette or with a low lounge table, on the main deck for an optional day head, and in the lower deck for the crew cabin offered with a small galley or a two cabin layout as option. The Princess S80 is to be powered by standard twin Man 1900hp, and or optional 2000hp with speeds going up to 34 knots with the large engine option.

New Model: Princess Y95

Princess are doing the final touches for its new Y95, largest Y for yacht range and sharing flagship spot with the X95 model launched in 2020.  The Princess Y95 replaces the 30M launched in 2015 and delivered in fifteen units, and although a meter smaller, and six GT of volume less, the new Y range flagship does fit in under 24 m load-line-length rules making it possible to be helmed by a standard yacht master licence.  Designed by Pininfarina with naval architecture by Olesinski the Y95 features a planning hull with wave piercer, a characteristic it shares with the X95 but Princess so far not using in any of its smaller models.  The Y95 also breaks Princess record for the largest amount of glazing ever used in a Yacht build in Plymouth.  The standard layout of the Y95 offers five guest cabins, including an owners stateroom on the forward main full body part of the main deck.  Hull one of the Princess Y95 is powered by twin Man 2000hp giving a top speed up to 24 knots.  Currently Princess has three more Y95 inbuilds.

New Model: Princess F65

During the 2022 Southampton boat show Princess have launched its awaited new F65, a replacement of the 2017 launched F62.  Designed by Pininfarina with Olesinski taking care of naval architecture the F65 is the flagship of the F for flybridge cruisers and yachts range which has characterized the British builder line up since ever, and today offers four models upwards of fourteen meters.  The F65 also completes the Pininfarina circle in this range with all the models now receiving the Pininfarina exterior design treatment.  A modern motor yacht which strikes a conservative balance with the exception of the large glazed hull window, the F65 has a main deck with an astern galley layout, dining area opposite, with one step up taking you into the lounging saloon to port side and helm station.  Down below the F65 is a four cabins layout, with a bunk fourth cabin plus two crew cabin aft.  The interior of the F65 can be finished in four wood finishes; three in different oak tonalities, or Walnut.  The Princess F65 is powered by twin Man 1200hp giving speeds up to 33 knots.

Project: Princess Y80

Princess present the project for an all new Y80, a pocket super yacht designed by Pininfarina for external lines with Olesinski doing naval architecture.  The new Princess Y80 is a totally new yacht being a foot wider and a meter longer to the replacing Y78 launched in 2020, and follows similar lines to the Y72 presented in 2021 and one of the current best sellers from the Plymouth boat builder.  The Y80 has an standard interior with a main deck open galley layout, while the lower deck offers the standard plan of four double cabins with owners stateroom to midships.  For those wanting a more traditional main deck Princess will offer separate galley layout as is the same for the lower pilot house which can be split with optional partitions.  Another option in the Princess Y80 will be for the aft deck, which standard is in the traditional U-shaped dinette looking forward, but can be ordered in what is called the Infinity cockpit with opposite bench settees and uninterrupted aft views with a balustrade glass bulkhead.  Crew accommodation is for three persons in two cabins aft.  The Princess Y80 is to be powered by twin Man 1800hp with estimated top speeds up to 32 knots.

Project: Princess S72

Princess present the S72 project becoming the latest addition to the Plymouth boat builder renowned S Class sport bridge yachts family. Designed by the Princess Design Studio in collaboration with naval architects Olesinski and Italian design house Pininfarina for exterior styling, the S72's sweeping profile features sleek lines and beautiful full-length hull windows. Equipped with twin Man 1650 standard or optional 1800 horsepower the S72 is estimated to have speeds up to 36 knots with the optional engine configuration.  The S72 will have a main deck with astern galley, while the lower deck is a four double cabins layout featuring a separate entrance midships owners stateroom.  A crew cabin sleeping two persons is located aft to starboard.  The Princess Y72 seems also to up the options in the wood finishing choice to the customer, with four wood options; three types of oak and walnut being available.

Project: Princess F65

The last fall might have been a quiet one to the usual standards from Princess, but for Spring 2022 the new model announcements by the British builder seems to be making up for it, with three still secretive projects plus an evolution of a current model being announced.  The most secretive of these three new project is the new F65, which is the next evolution of Princess bread and butter F for flybridge range.  So far little information if any is known of this nineteen meter motor yacht, which is to replace the F62 and fill the void left by the F70 which was replaced by the Y72 in 2021.  Design is trusted to Pininfarina for exterior looks with naval architecture to the since the eighties standing Olesinski.  The above rendering shows the Italian design firm using similar looks and curves as seen in the F45 and the Y72.  Lower deck layout is said to be a four double cabins, with a forward VIP, owners room at midships, and two twin berth cabins in between.

New Model: Princess X80

In the end of 2021 Princess launched hull number one of its new X80, second X-range model which follows the 2019 launched X95, which some say its one of the ugliest yachts ever made and others saying it is an innovative design with purpose.  The new Princess X80 with Dusseldorf boat show cancelled was presented in a private boat show in Plymouth on end January 2022.  The X range like new latest Princesses is designed by Pininfarina with Olesinski taking care of engineering duties, and its purpose is to move away from traditional yacht design and maximize space.  Upwards of the main deck the recipe is different with Princess saying the X80 gives 30% more flybridge space, while lower deck and hull shape are standard, with a planning hull giving speeds up to 31 knots with twin 1900hp Man engines.  The Princess X80 comes with a couple of interesting choices; the first is to have an owners stateroom on the forward part of the main deck in replacement to a forward dinning area, the second is to have a fully enclosed or three part hard top option on the flybridge deck.

New Model: Princess V50

Princess present the new V50, its third generation model with this name, and an evolution of glazed hull surfaces on the 2018 presented model it replaces, which was an update in length to the 2013 presented V48.  It is more a styling exercise then other really fundamental changes here, with the big hull windows being the main difference to the previous V50.  The layout inside on both main and lower deck is unchanged, offering two cabins; a forward VIP, and a large midships owners room.  The Princess V50 is powered by twin Volvo 440hp or optional 480hp with IPS pod propulsion, these last engines pushing speed up to 32 knots in light load.  I do think that Princess here missed the chance in fitting the larger Volvo 550hp or 600hp engines pushing speeds to around the mid thirties, and more important having a bigger block pushing a fifteen meter sixteen ton plus sports yacht.  The main competition from Fairline and Azimut are both offered with this bigger set up.
Technical Data:

Project: Princess V50

Princess present the project for a third generation V50, available as a deck saloon or Open model set to launch in Dusseldorf 2022.  This new V50 replaces the popular second generation V50 which came with the extension in length larger bathing platform to the V48 launched in 2013. Crafted with a new hull mould, this made to put the new glazing which now shows up nearly for all the hull length from fore to aft, similar to what is on the larger new V55 or on the newer more recent Princess models. Princess is promising improvements in all area to the out going second generation V50.  The Princess V50 mark.3 will be powered by twin Volvo 435hp or 480hp with IPS pod drives which are good for speeds up to thirty knots.  Once you modify the mould to put larger glazing it is a bit a pity that the Princess engineers did not try to put larger D8 550hp or 600hp units which would have delivered more decent performances upwards of thirty knots.

New Model: Princess Y72

Princess present the new Y72, entry level of the Y class range which spans four models from 22 to 28 meters.  The Y72 continues the long standing since 1980s Princess collaboration with Olesinski for hull lines, and gets exterior looks by Pininfarina.  The Italian house coming to work for Princess, since the 2018 introduced R35.  While the Italian design firm might seem a blink for many, it has been doing yachts since the 1980s.  Finished to high standards throughout, the new Y72s design features are comparable to those of larger Y Class yachts. Project: Princess X80

Following in the wake of the successful launch of the X95, Princess announce a new addition to the X-range. Due to take to the water next year, the X80 becomes the second member of the X Class ‘Superfly’ family. The Princess X80, follows the X95 concept defined by large, adaptable spaces offering flexible accommodation. Yet again, Princess is boldly re-writing the rules of yacht design and architecture by incorporating the concept of a ‘super flybridge’ featuring extensive outdoor space, offering the owner and guests a real al fresco living opportunity. The X80 has been painstakingly designed to offer the most versatile and accommodating experience, while keeping design and style at the forefront.  Princess long-standing partner, Olesinski, has again partnered with Italian design heavyweights Pininfarina to create the ultimate in yacht design.  Following the sophisticated sculpted surfaces and long flowing lines of the X95, the X80 represents a striking design concept whilst at the same time maintaining the well respected and internationally recognized classic Princess design language.  Over recent years there has been a quiet revolution in the methods used to design a Princess hull. Years of experience building fast and seaworthy hulls are now complemented by cutting edge simulation techniques . For the X80, this approach has led to efficiencies across the speed range whilst ensuring the high levels of sea-keeping and predictable handling. Fitted with twin Man 1900hp the X80 will reach speeds up to thirty knots.  The stature of the X80 profile is defined through the increased height of the bulwarks, topsides and enclosed wheelhouse.  Her ‘S’ shaped canopy flows into the flybridge deck to balance the visual weight and disguise the volume of the expansive sky lounge. The X80 brings the outside in through the maximization of glazing which flows along the entire length of the main deck encasing the saloon, galley and forward dining area.  The use of light and innovative design continues below decks where 8 guests are accommodated across four cabins, a full beam master stateroom located amidships, a forward guest stateroom, a double guest to starboard and a twin cabin to port. Located aft of the main accommodation is the crew quarters which can accommodate three crew with the standard layout.

New Model: Princess X95

Princess are thrilled to share the first ever X95 images, on her latest sea trial which took place in Plymouth, England this week. As the eagerly anticipated slot hull one of the new X95 nears completion in the Plymouth based manufacturing facility, you can see what sets this innovative new yacht apart from the  pack. Characterized by beautifully sculpted surfaces, with long flowing lines that extend from bow to stern, the X95 defines a striking design language for a new concept of boat while maintaining classic Princess design cues.  The X95 is the first model in the new X Class . Both the flybridge and main deck interior space cover almost the full length of the yacht, creating the a super flybridge as the X Class’s defining characteristic. This new layout provides 10% more outdoor space and 40% more indoor space than a similar sized traditional super yacht. Creating this class-defining yacht from Princess’s design brief was the work of their long standing naval architect, Olesinski, in partnership with legendary Italian design house Pininfarina.  In addition to the X95’s innovative architecture, Princess has made significant steps forward in hull design and the X95 is equipped with an all-new wave piercing bow that extends the waterline forward and provides a fine, high deadrise entry. The hull delivers a 15% improvement in efficiency when compared to a traditional hull design.  On board, the standard guest accommodation for up to eight can be found on the lower deck, comprising a full-beam master stateroom amidships, two twin guest cabins and a double VIP suite forward. However, the first X95 incorporates a five-cabin arrangement with a full beam main deck master suite, plus a non-standard lower deck layout including aft VIP stateroom with adjoining gym room, complete with treadmill and TRX training area.  Other non-standard features on this X95 include the custom exterior paint scheme in Princess midnight blue and inside, a custom saloon layout including family style dining table. She also hosts a drop down projector unit with large canvas cinema screen on the aft flybridge. There is also a bespoke crew accommodation layout to house up to five crew members on board, demonstrating just how flexible the X95 layout really is.  The Princess X95 is powered by twin Man 1900hp engines which give her a maximum speed up to 23 knots. The X95 is yet another innovative new concept for Princess Yachts. The X Class creates an entirely new segment, and while representing a significant step in the Princess new product program, she is absolutely the epitome of British craftsmanship . Princess Yachts are immensely proud of this striking new addition to the range, as she boldly re-writes the rules of yacht design.
