New Model: Cerri Fouriserie 31M

Cerri has recently launched its latest Fouriserie 31M model.  Named Vanadis, a goddess of Norse mythology, this latest Cerri Fouriserie is the successful outcome of the cooperation between the Viareggio boat builder and Dutch design firm Guido de Groot, who took care of both interior and exterior design, and Ginton Naval Architects, who were responsible for naval architecture. Technological solutions are by Siemens and Schottel. Just like the yacht’s owner, this is a truly European project, in which Italian manufacture, Dutch design and engineering, and sophisticated German technology find their highest expression.  Cerri Fouriserie 31M features a harmonious, classic and timeless exterior lines, and cutting edge technological solutions, with a strong focus on environmental friendliness and efficiency. The yacht is indeed equipped with two Schottel STP 150 FP azimuth thrusters driven by a hybrid system which includes both traditional diesel engines and an electric engine supplied by generators or batteries, ensuring low consumption and limited environmental impact, as well as increased on-board comfort thanks to reduced noise and vibrations both at anchor and when cruising. Two Cat 370hp engines push 31M to a maximum speed of 12.5 knots, which drop to 8 knots when cruising in electric mode. The craft is fitted with a set of AKASOL lithium-ion batteries which supply most on-board utilities, allowing to remain at anchor at zero emissions for up to 17 consecutive hours and to cruise at limited speed for up to 120 minutes, depending on the power load. Moreover, the yacht can rely on both gyroscope and fin anti-rolling stabilizing systems, increasing safety and stability both during cruising and when at anchor. The layout features a master cabin and two guest cabins on the lower deck, while the indoor areas of the main deck, behind the wheelhouse, include a spacious salon furnished with a large L-shaped sofa, a dining area, and an open galley. Outside, both aft and forward on the main deck, are two comfortable lounge areas. A second pilot station can be found on the flybridge, which is entirely devoted to outdoor life, with sun loungers, a bar area, and a dining area. The launch of this new Cerri Fouriserie only marks a new important achievement for the Viareggio super yacht yard but also shows its versatility and great ambitions in terms of state-of-the-art technology on new generation super yachts, and a significant step forward for more efficiency, lower consumption, and increased environmental sustainability. Cerri Fouriserie 31M is indeed inaugurating the “E-Prop” line, the new line of hybrid propulsion crafts.

Project: Cerri 123 Dom

Cerri Cantieri Navali shipyard based in Avenza, presented at the Versilia Yachting Rendez Vous held in Viareggio from 10th to 13th May the latest project signed Stefano Vafiadis; the Dom 123. First of a new line of boats called Dom from latin Domus, which translates to home, this 37 meters, designed by Stefano Vafiadis is born to cruise both with comfort and style. The design was driven by the desires and needs of a modern and young yacht owner, thinking also about lifestyle. The Dom 123 is characterized by an aluminum semi-displacement hull and can reach a maximum speed of 21 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots, thanks to two MTU engines of 2600hp each. The hull, tested at the Brodarsky Institute of Zagreb, presents a forward bulb designed to optimize the performance of navigability and efficiency at a 12 knots economical cruising speed, ensuring a range of 3000 nautical miles. In addition, the chosen beam of 8.70 m allows large internal volumes, providing at the same time high stability in all sea conditions. The layout of the super yacht can accommodate four or five cabins in the lower deck. In the latter case, the main deck is dedicated to the owner's cabin only, offering a ten or twelve guests option. The four cabins layout hosts two wide body VIP cabins on the aft side and the fore side of the compartment and two convertible twins (or doubles) amidship. The owner's cabin is on the main deck and has two wonderful side windows (floor to ceiling) that ensure spectacular sea views and plenty of light inside the accommodation. The interiors are very spacious as well. The two salons offer lot of space: the one on the main deck is more formal and hosts a dining room for ten people, twelve if requested, with a central living room arrangement. On the upper deck we find a sky lounge that can become a cinema room. Going outside through the sliding windows that can open completely, there is a spectacular and panoramic external dining area with a round table, always available for 10/12 guests. The service is ensured by full size pantries on the main and upper deck, plus a professional galley on the main deck. The captain’s cabin is on the upper deck while the rest of the crew is located on the lower deck, where there is also a crew mess and a laundry. The external spaces are vast and cozy, designed both for parties or relax. The aft peak on the main deck offers a nice seating area with table, ideal for informal dining. The external dining area is on the upper deck; here you can find a comfortable conversation area with a C-shaped sofa perfect to enjoy the view. The flybridge is very large and offers a modern squared jacuzzi with details and chromed railings, served by a central staircase. The tender garage is functional and separated from the beach club. The beach club has a very wide platform that covers the complete height of the stern when closed, offering while horizontal, a very large livable area and a great opening. Everything is perfectly equipped and studied to be on the water in full comfort, and to enjoy the most of the sea. The length of the tender is six meters and in the foredeck area we find further a jet ski with a crane and space for toys.

New Model: Cerri 50m Fuoriserie

Cerri Cantieri Navali has launched its 50m Fuoriserie.  Named M/Y Elsea this latest Cerri launch is the largest build to date by the Italian Tuscany boat builder.  This ambitious project has been penciled by design firm Studio Bacigalupo, while the interiors are by Studio Vafiadis, with Imperial acting as owner’s representative, construction supervisor and manager during the build and after the delivery.  50m Fuoriserie features an aluminum semi-planning hull and marks another step forward in CCN’s construction technique. For the first time,in fact, the shipyard embarked upon the construction of a large fully custom super yacht relying on a management that has gained great expertise in important Italian shipyards and on a highly-qualified, specially selected labor force.  The new yacht has an aggressive, slender profile and can ensure an outstanding maximum speed of 27 knots and cruising speed of 18 knots thanks to three MTU 2600hp engines.  The layout reserves large areas for conviviality, both on the main deck where the living and dining areas, as well as the full beam master cabin found on the upper deck, which is entirely devoted to life in the open air.  The interiors are intended to be a tribute to the fine deco design developed with a key of modernity. A parallelism made of reflecting surfaces and precious exotic woods, together with many stainless steel details that underline the bold shapes and create a very harming contrast between materials.  The living of the new Cerri flagship features two different salons each with its own personality. The first on the main deck is more formal and has also a very spacious dining table for twelve people. The other one on the upper deck, that can be also as a cinema, has a very warm and cozy touch and is distinguished by a huge circular sofa that helps creating the family style attitude.  The outdoor is for giving an informal but always posh allure to the boat. The style of these area is very Mediterranean, taking inspiration from the French Riviera, like for example the external salons or the beach club, with a bar and a day toilet, plus an audio system with speakers ready to challenge the best clubs. Just right out of the upper salon we find a spectacular external area that serves as a party lounge with a central custom jacuzzi decorated with splendid mosaics inside. Around the pool a collection of sun beds and comfortable seating areas that creates the perfect environment for fun, sunbathing and relax. Great attention is also paid to light underlines the shapes of the furniture pieces, most of them customized, both with spot light, wisely distributed, and also with LED stripes that enriches the interiors and create an atmosphere.  Onboard the Cerri 50m Fuoriserie we find the most unique collection of materials, from precious crystal lamps and decorations to back lighted onyx surfaces (heated to be always pleasant to the touch) passing through exotic woods with dramatic veneers and inox details giving the complexity and decoration to the design as the pedigree of the yacht imposes.

Project: Cerri 35M Phileas

Phileas, like Phileas Fogg, the main character of Jules Verne’s “Around the World in Eighty Days”, this is the name of the new line of steel and aluminium 35m Expedition Yachts that marks the beginning of Cerri super yacht builder new era.  Through the Phileas, Cerri has chosen to explore new production segments and diversify its offer, to effectively meet the needs of an increasingly demanding market. Relying on the experience and expertise of its new management in the construction of steel and aluminium and all-aluminium crafts, Cerri has started the production of a new line of highly flexible and performing explorer Super Yachts ranging between thirty and 35 meters in length, which are ideal for long-range cruising and to experience freedom and contact with sea and nature to the fullest.  Interior brightness is ensured by the large glazed surfaces, which allow to enjoy a magnificent view over the sea from across the entire yacht. Moreover, thanks to a total range of four thousand nautical miles and the large black water and grey water tanks, this is the perfect yacht for anyone wishing to cruise long and far from ports or marinas.  Sober lines, modular versatility are the key features of this project, designed by A. Vallicelli & C. Yacht Design. The hull, in turn, was developed by Cerri’s Technical Department. The straight sides of the yacht make for easy customization to the most diverse needs of the owners, who can choose a three, four, or five cabin layouts, arranging the cabins depending on their specific needs and requirements. Great care has also been devoted to the comfort of the crew, who have available spacious quarters including a large mess, a laundry area, and two cabins, while the captain’s cabin is located on the upper deck, behind the helm station. The linear layout and lines of the yacht make maintenance extremely easy, as all equipment and systems are promptly accessible for inspection and repair.

Cerri New Web Site

Cerri from Italy presents its new World wide web showroom.  Founded in 1997 by Carlo Cerri, this builder creates success thanks to an innovative design on all its models.  The first Cerri is a 28 model, and stirs a following audience thanks to the innovative main deck concept which mixes an open walk around layout along with a cabin interior.  This concept is followed in the next Cerri models the 52 launched in 1999, and the 40 presented on 2001.  All these Cerri although stopped in production have still an audience in the used market from customers who look for a quality construction along with an innovative exterior layout.  In 2002 Cerri presents its entrance to the super yacht market with the innovative 86 Flying Sport project with the first unit to be delivered in 2004.  The 86 Flying Sport stirs the market for being among the first latest generation hard top sport yacht model to feature a sport bridge up top, and success can be seen for the of over fourteen units.   In 2007 Cerri expands its production area to over 70,000 squared meters this move being made to accommodate new bigger models to the 86.  The first unit of the 102 Flyingsport is delivered in 2009 and hull two follows in 2012.  In September 2011 Cerri majority shares are purchased by the Gavio Group, who stirs the boat builder to a new success.  Cerri current range features two models 86 and 102 Flying Sport, with a project of three additional models currently being offered; 24m and 35m Navette, and the 35m Phileas. Project: Cerri 35m Navetta

Boat builder Cantiere Navale Cerri, which has been part of the Gavio Group since 2011, is experiencing a real ‘rebirth’: today, in its modern production plant in Carrara-Avenza, the shipyard presented its new range of products, including the restyling of the 102’ Flyingsport line, a new series of steel and aluminium Expedition boats, called “Phileas” which was introduced as a world preview last month at the Miami Boat Show, and a new line of Navetta yachts between 24m and 35m – also in steel and aluminium designed by Studio Spadolini. The range the Carrara-based boat builder is offering the market, thus, further extends, resulting in a very diversified series of products between 24 and 35 metres in length and coming in different materials.  Flexibility and great functionality are the key features of Cerri’s new production strategy. Also thanks to a renovated, highly experienced and strongly motivated management, the shipyard can now meet the needs of an increasingly demanding clientele in an extensively differentiated way.  “A small megayacht”: this definition effectively conveys the entire philosophy at the basis of the new 'Navetta', designed by architect Tommaso Spadolini in two different lengths, so far: 24 metres and 35m. The ‘challenge', as Mr Spadolini himself defines it, was to ensure on a 35m-long craft the spaciousness and comfort that one normally finds on larger yachts: from the dedicated on-board routes for the guests and the crew to its large volumes, the Navetta 35 stands out for truly unique characteristics. The interior layout is certainly unusual for a yacht of this size: the main deck is entirely reserved for the guests and includes the master stateroom and two VIP cabins; two more VIP cabins are located amidships on the lower deck, to which access is gained via a dedicates staircase, totaling 10 passengers. On the lower deck are also the large, comfortable crew quarters, featuring 2 double cabins, a separate galley (to prevent fumes and smells from spreading to the other rooms), the crew mess, the laundry, and a cold room, as is the standard on larger boats. The captain cabin is located on the upper deck, behind the pilot station. Here is also an approximately 40 sq m sky lounge + indoor dining area, hosting 10 guests, while the aft outdoor area is furnished with built-in sofas and a table seating 8 people.  All areas have been specially designed to ensure maximum brightness, thanks to the large glazed surfaces and the natural light that flows through the central skylight on the fly deck. The 34 sq m sundeck is entirely devoted to activities in the open air: the sun-pads, sunbathing area, and the barbecue make this area ideal to enjoy time in the sun. A Jacuzzi can also be installed here, upon request.  The tender can be stored aft, transversely, thereby allowing to enjoy a lovely swimming platform by the sea when the garage door is open. The 35m Navetta can be equipped with twin CAT or MTU 1150hp engines, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 14 knots and a cruise of 12 knots.

The 100 Comfort is designed by the Cerri design team and Matteo Del Sorbo who took care of naval engineering details. The 100 Comfort is a super yacht full of innovative features inside, as the large bat serving the aft deck, the motor cycle garage to port side, the beach opening to starboard with water-slide, and last but not least a huge tender garage with space for a rib up to six meters long. Accommodation wise the 100 Comfort will feature five double guest cabins with an owners main cabin on the main deck. The Cerri 100 Comfort will be powered by twin MTU 1600hp engines which give max speeds of 18 knots, and a cruise of 12 knots,

Improve-it = Cerri 102 Flying Sport

The year 2012 ended in the best possible way for Cerri, with the sale to a Russian owner of hull number 3 in the 102 Flyingsport line. The Cerri 102 hull number 3 Flyingsport represents a true revolution in the open yacht sector for the shipyard, where innovation and modernity have always been core values and guiding principles.  While this yacht's outer lines are the same of her sister’s, the concept of this new version is extremely innovative and takes to extremes the "FlyingSport" philosophy thanks to the owner's true ingenuity and its flawless interpretation by the creativity of the Cerri team.  The FlyingSport line introduced the concept of a fly bridge in open crafts as back as in 2004 with 86 model sold so far in over ten units.  This latest Cerri 102 now embodies the ultimate evolution of such a philosophy, no longer featuring two pilot stations, but only one on the fly bridge and replacing the second, on the main deck, with an innovative owner area that continues below deck with a really impressive private wellness area. From the highly panoramic cabin with glass sunroof, an internal staircase leads to the spacious wellness area, conceived as an "open air" circular "glass tube": a magnificent relaxation area with Turkish bath with chromotherapy and a sauna. Adjacent to the spa is the children’s room with changing top and a bed for a staff members, which thus completes the master suite.  The under deck night area, aft of the spa, has also been thoroughly rearranged: it now features two more VIP cabins with double bed and private head, which can be accessed via the staircase from the main deck salon. This night area is characterised by very spacious volumes and large windows offering a beautiful panoramic view.  The pilot station and the dining room are located on the fly bridge and are sheltered by a hard top especially designed to allow closing the sides and including an electronically operated sunroof. A Jacuzzi, located aft of the dining area, adds the final touch to the main deck.  Besides her innovative fly bridge, this yacht can also boast two pleasant outdoor areas: the aft cockpit on the main deck includes a comfortable sunbathing area and a dinette, while at the bow the wide lounge area with circular sofas is ideal to relax and chat while enjoying the utmost privacy. Two crew cabins with separate access and a galley fitted with all necessary equipment make up the service areas, while 2 MTU 2600 HP engines and the ZF Searex surface drives push the yacht to a cruising speed of approximately 30 knots with peaks of 38.

Improve-it = Cerri 86 Flyingsport

Cerri launch hull number twelve of its ground breaking 86 Flyingsport series presented for the first time in 2004.  The semi custom 86 Flyingsport so far features an impressive feat of having all of the twelve made models tailor made to its owners, and all having different internal layouts and fittings.  There is 86 Flyingsport with five cabins, and there is with four, and the variety of layouts used is impressive. 86 Flyingsport hull number twelve named Pachamama, went for a four double guests suite, with two en-suited crew cabins layout.  Living is made of the two split level saloon which is still a very unique Cerri feature, which is joined by a dining area, galley, and the lower helm station.  Cerri 86 Flyingsport number twelve also diverse from previous models for being the first to having the ZF Searex surface drives in lieu of the legendary Arneson.  Engines are twin MTU 1950hp which give a 40 knots wide open throttle, and 30 knots cruise.

Project: Cerri 70 Sport

Unlike the bigger sister of the 70 which are the 86 delivered in twelve models and the 102 Flying Sport launched in 2009, the Cerri 70 will have a Sport version which will be without the top flybridge deck. Designed by MDS Engineering the 70 Sport offers a distinct hard top which opens on the aft main deck, where two exterior L-shaped settees are located. Another feature which differentiates it from the 70 Flying Sport is the no radar arch form of the coach roof with this coming integrated and streamlined from the upper structure. For the rest and always minus the second helm and sundeck area up top, the 70 Sport is a similar project to the Flying Sport version available in a three or four cabin version, galley up or down, and one or two saloons interior plans. Power will be from twin MAN or MTU engines from 1500 up to 1800hp with surface drives propulsion which should make good for the usual forty knots top speed as the other Cerri models. As the Flying Sport, the 70 Sport version has a build time of around one year and a half depends to the customization which as with any Cerri model is very high. The lucky client who orders hull one gets also a special deal.

Project: Cerri 70 Flyingsport

After two years of verbal speculation that Cerri will build a smaller Flyingsport, finally we can see the project rendering of the 70. As any Cerri model the 70 Flyingsport will be a semi custom construction, available on plan with a three or four cabin lower deck layout, and a unique on the way it uses the spaces which feels it is a much bigger boat. The four cabin plan will have an aft looking galley on the main deck, with all the cabins being equipped with en-suite heads. Both the owners stateroom to midship and VIP will also have a bidet. The full beam midship owners suite also features an L-shaped settee to starboard, and an office desk. In the three cabin choice the owner can choose to move the galley down, or create another more private saloon. Other special features of the 70 Flyingsport will be the internal staircase to the fly helm deck, and an opening central window door on the front windshield which facilitates movement from the fore deck lounger to the internal saloon. A two person crew cabin with a small shower head is located on the bow tip just behind the chain locker. To aft will be a tender garage where it is possible to stow a jet rib of three metres. Power for the 70 Flyingsport is from twin MAN or MTU from 1500 to 1800hp, which should keep in touch with the usual forty knots performance of the bigger Cerri models. So far Cerri is waiting for order one of the 70, and from there build time will be about eighteen to twenty months depending on specification.

Improve-it = Cerri 10,40 mt Tender

Cerri has just recently launched hull number six of the ten metre plus Tender model. At just over 34 feet the Cerri Tender is the entry level model which is a hard stretch from the bigger Super Yacht sisters that are the 86 Flying Sport, and 102 Flying Sport. For the history Cerri started with a small innovative walk around Sport Cruiser in 1997, with the 28 Sport designed by De Casa which the builder still build to order as of 2007. The number six of the Cerri Tender will be powered by twin Suzuki outboards of 300hp each, which deliver a 45 knots top speed and an important 350 nautical miles range at cruise. Construction is as the bigger models semi custom, with high grade Vinilester, and Isoftalic resins being used to a CE B standard. A spacious bathroom with entrance from the fore part of the central console is available below. The Cerri Tender is also tailor made for what regards colors, interior layout, and hard top choice. As has been the philosophy of Cerri, this Italian builder will do the best to accommodate the clients requests. Worth of note that the Cerri Tender has also a very competitive price considering the level of quality and customization of this unique ten meter sports boat.

Boat Review: Cerri 102 Flying Sport

Presentation
Cerri's 102 Flying Sport follows on what this refined North Italian builder did with the 86 but in a bigger more important one hundred foot plus size. Launched in late Spring 2009 Cerri's 102 Flying Sport is the biggest yacht ever build by the Tuscany, Carrara builder which continues a story filled with cross over style design innovation as the main character. Obviously company owner Carlo Cerri follows the schemes seen on the 86, in the 102 featuring the much wanted invisible unnoticeable only know about once you are on it flybridge. Then again just like the smaller 86 the 102 is much more then just Flying Sport offering a semi custom interior, high performance surface drives propulsion giving forty knots top speeds, and a reliable sea worthy hull designed by military experienced engineer Gianfranco De Casa. If you liked what you have seen with the 86 be ready also for more on the big Cerri, as is the case with the top fly deck which is similarly large as to that of a standard flybridge Super Yacht.
Accommodation
Customization is a stamp for Cerri who made tailor making request a big part to his boats from the start. This is farther testified with the all different twelve units delivered of the 86. Hull number one of the 102 Flying Sport featured a not so common for this size Super Sport Yacht five cabin version. A four cabins version with a larger owners cabin is also available.
The 102 welcomes you on its aft deck with a sunpad, curved settee for five persons, central table and free chairs making this area excellent for Al fresco entertaining. Going to fore is very easy with deep side bulwarks all around. The central theme of the fore deck is for the central located circular table which is a second more private dining Al fresco area, and the large sunpads forward to this. Another third exterior socializing area is the flybridge reached from a stair case inside. If you think this is just a second sporty helm station you are wrong as here we have 28 squared metres of space just right to compete with a similar sized looking full flybridge yacht. The layouts on the flybridge are endless and owners can really use there imagination. You can have it like in the plans with a large C-shaped settee to aft, or as the case for hull one using free moving chaise lounges to suit your needs.
Entering inside of the 102 Flying Sport you are welcomed into the interior relaxing area saloon. Here you find a C-shaped settee with a sofa opposite. More to fore is the dining table for ten persons and to starboard we have the stairs which lead to the large flybridge. Upfront of the main deck and ahead to the dining table is the three seated central interior helm station which can be separated from the living area by a descending blind. The galley is located to mid ship below decks and is a C-shaped design. Here is also the space for a lobby and an extra crew berth. To fore reached from the outside deck is the other twin double bunk cabins with shower head.
Going to the guest cabins below is from a circle shaped stair case to starboard. The five cabins layout offers a VIP to fore, two double guest cabins in between, a second VIP to port side, and the central owners suite located centrally. Hull one also featured a small L-shaped settee with TV unit below. In the four cabins version you will loose the second VIP and get more room in the owners suite which benefits from a large walk in wardrobe. All cabins in the 102 Flying Sport are en-suited in both the plans so far on offer.
Toy storage plays also an important part in the 102 Flying Sport with the aft garage taking a large tender and jet bike, and a stowage for a small motorcycle on the main deck. One last note is that while the script above and plans below show actual layouts these are just examples for hull one and two, and if the 86 was any proof Cerri really make the possibilities endless to customize a build to owners wishes.
Performance
Just has been since 1997 when Cerri debuted its first 28 model, the 102 Flying Sport features a hull design by Engineer Gianfranco De Casa. While not much known outside the professional scene, De Casa is a very famous military and working hull designer and so far did all Cerri's previous five models underwater shapes. For the 102 Flying Sport, De Casa presented a medium vee warped shaped hull which ends with a sixteen degrees deadrise aft. Unusually angled for this size of yacht and what should make a formidable match to surface drives propulsion and high forty knots top speeds. Hull one for the 102 Flying Sport was fitted with twin MTU 2400hp engines, and Arneson surface drives. This package produces a fast 40 knots top speed, and an all time cruise of 33 knots giving a range of 450 nautical miles.

Competition
The Cerri 102 Flying Sport gets to be a bit unique against its super sport yacht peers. What makes Cerri's flagship stand out is surely the big flybridge, high customization, and the five cabins layout. This seems to be not available from the competition bar the new bigger Pershing 108. Performance is also similar with some staying with a tradition line shaft system like the Azimut 103SL which is the slowest, others opting for jet propulsion like the Arno and the Overmarine, and some opting for a triple propulsion choice as the Pershing or as optional on the Baia One Hundred.
Arno Leopard 32M - flybridge, but looks sport overall
Azimut 103SL - you see the flybridge on the red SL, but it is sleek
Baia One Hundred - huge glassed surfaces, invisible fly, 50 knots with 3500hp MTU
Pershing 108 - launching soon, similar fly deck, 41 knots, five cabins optional
WILD CARD: Overmarine 105 Mangusta - raised saloon helm, similar performance
Conclusion
Carlo Cerri thirteen years of operation has given a lot to the boating world not only for cross over design innovation but also for a unique way to build its product. If you visit Cerri shipyard you will be surprised in that you will find adjacent to the boat building premises a gym with pool and spa, and music played while the workers are completing the boats. With this Cerri is passing on a strong message in a producing World where numbers seem the only thing important. It is true numbers are important but if you want someone to build your boat you want these people to have a passion for it, feel good in the premises, and to be part of a family. The 102 Flying Sport is a proof of how since 1997 the Cerri brand has flourished and follows its Constructors of Passion trademark. This new Cerri 102 Flying Sport flagship as is the smaller 86 and the other projects in store from the Italian Tuscany company like a bigger 120, and a smaller seventy foot model are just testimony to this.

Natural design evolution on the looks department of the previous bigger model the successful 86 Flying Sport, the new flagship has been three years in the making and continues Cerri shipyard aim in building larger Super Sport Yachts. The 102 Flyingsport also follows Cerri's two important visions of innovation and personalization, both of which play an important element since the first model of a 28 feet sport cruiser was introduced in 1997, and taken to higher extremes when in 2004 the first 86 Flying Sport was delivered, proving a great success with the so far delivered eleven models. Boat Review: Cerri 86 FlyingSport

Presentation
The Cerri 86 FlyingSport is our boat review this month, what is a very innovative yacht from a young builder who based his fortunes offering products always ahead of the times. This young company located in Tuscany started it's fortunes in 1997 with what was at the time a different 28 ft sports cruiser, and still today the same spirit is the driving force behind this custom builder, but now in more important bigger size dimensions. The project of the 86 FlyingSport was announced in 2002 and in 2004 hull no.1 was launched to much acclaim from the public. The admiration and success of the FlyingSport could be seen later in time as a famous builder, 1 year after copied the sport flybridge second helm station in a bigger design, surely this was not the only one as others followed afterwards.
Accommodation
The comfort shown in the 86 FlyingSport is truly unique but also different to what a normal 26 metre usually offers. For example the Cerri 86 can offer a maximum of 5 different lounging and dining areas, inside and outside: upper saloon, lower saloon, aft deck, flybridge and forward deck. 5 years behind, we can say the most innovative and copied, is the one located forward on deck. Another stand out feature is the double saloon area located on different floors, upper and lower deck. The upper saloon reserved mainly for entertainment is located upon entrance on the main deck and the principal dining saloon area is located on the lower deck.
The standard lower deck, sleeping accommodation plan is a 5 double cabin layout. Even here the 86 Flying Sport continues to show its pedigree of privacy with a separate owners area forward with 2 double cabins and a Master cabin, all with private en-suites heads and a VIP area located aft, featuring a good sized VIP cabin and a double bunk cabin to starboard. A double crew cabin is located forward. This is a standard layout and all 8 delivered boats have had different plans showing the fully customization of this project from the builder.

Performance
Another big plus for the 86 FlyingSport is the performance, which can match those of the fastest thoroughbred sport yachts in the market today. Performance are to say the least, impressive, and on the top end of the market, even the small double MTUs 1800hp give a respectable 40 knots, with the fastest option being the latest light weight MTU 2400hp giving an impressive 50 knots top speed. Propulsion is from high speed Arneson Surface Drives, with a matching hull designed on purpose for this transmission giving the best efficiency for the type of fast navigation.
Positive
High Customization
Double Saloon
Dining Lounging Area
Forward Deck
Performance
Negative
Forward Crew cabin
Competition
The innovation of this product shows how much forward looking Cantieri Cerri is with some important builders only now trying to catch this design philosophy, but I am sure more to come in the future.
Morgan 93 - lobster yacht, 29 knots top, small fly but plenty outdoor space
Pershing 90 - no helm but lounging area on upper fly deck
Princess V85 - January launch with similar concept, less customization 4 cabins
Sunseeker 92 Predator Sport - still in project, watch for more information
WILD CARD: Overmarine Mangusta 92 - no fly, best sold big open HT
Conclusion
Carlo Cerri and the 86 FlyingSport truly captured a new way of thinking and created a generation of yachts, offering something fresh and clever. Calling it innovative only for its upper flying bridge second helm station is a minus to the 86 FlyingSport, as it has so many smart ideas, that give so much more compared to other similar sized yachts, being it open, hard top, flybridge or something in between as the Cerri is. Another bonus is the high performance levels, giving maximum speed from 40 knots upwards depending on engine choice. The big Cerri 86 FlyingSport scores on all marks and offers an innovative design with a spacious 5 cabin interior. It gives real satisfaction also for the many owners who want to helm, which is why its water line length is 23.99 metre, which means it can be helmed by you if certified with a full Yacht Master licence.
