Engine: Steyr SEC 4-Cylinder 175hp

With its new SEC 4-cylinder engine series, system solution specialist Steyr Motors a pioneer in the mono-block engine segment, drives engineering advances in the marine sector. The essential benefits, on the one hand, include the compact design, and power-to-weight ratio, but also the long service life and operational reliability of the mono-block engine. On the other, by ensuring greater efficiency, smooth and quiet operation, as well as lower emissions the common rail fuel injection technology with sustainable assert the SEC 4-cylinder engine's position in the market.  Notable improvements regarding the efficiency of the combustion process development work to meet future emission regulations, will drive investment in common rail technology while at the same time facilitating the current balancing act between power and emissions. On top of this, the new engine series impresses with service quality, ease of maintenance and advanced functionality.  Moreover, based on a variety of options and system solutions, the engine can be designed to suit Steyr Motors customers individual requirements. The company from Steyr, Austria, is initially launching four different basic models of the SEC 4-cylinder engine series from 80 to 175hp. In the future, IoT solutions, which the company is currently developing in the form of a new service tool, will also play a decisive role. Detailed information on the installed engine is provided, thus, preventing the drive system from serious damage thanks to condition monitoring, identifying maintenance requirements at an early stage, simplifying and shortening maintenance services, and optimizing engine development.

Engine: Steyr SE236E40 231hp

Steyr Motors has successfully redesigned its 6-cylinder generation and to present it to us. The renown Austrian Diesel engine manufacturer Steyr Motors keeps track with its own slogan “Innovation with lightness” and has successfully redesigned its 6-cylinder series during the last 18 month. After an intensive test period the production started in January 2012 and MO became SE.  Compared to the MO-series the new SE 6-cylinder series appeals not only due to its stylish appearance!  The all new SE-series is based on there inforced Monoblock-design which is more than ever the key for a robust and durable operation under highest load conditions. The Monoblock received redesigned intake channels and this together with the upgraded high-pressure multifuel Unit Injector results in a significant improvement of the efficiency, in some models and load conditions up to 30 %.  The SE Series will be available in five units from 120 up to 231hp.  The above unit is the SE236E40,  delivering 231hp at 4100 rpm.

Propulsion: Steyr Motors EDS System

This sophisticated mechanical device gives the boat owners the opportunity to engage a mechanical rack mover by a shifting cable in case of emergency. This can be for example a complete breakdown of the board electric system including engine, and engine control panel. Finally the Steyr engine will run the boat home on a safety mode. For the time being there is no other electronically controlled marine engine besides a Steyr Diesel on the market which offers this feature. The EDS guarantees the highest safety standard and makes you independent from any other complicated additional propulsion system. This Steyr option has been developed specifically to satisfy the highest requirements of life and rescue boat builders for their SOLAS related products. There is also a high demand and many inquiries from leisure boat builders and blue water sailboat owner who want to offer the maximum safety available on the market. EDS Mechanical Energy Drive System is worldwide unique and available for the whole range of Steyr Marine Diesel 4 and 6 cylinder engines, based on Mono block and High Pressure Unit Injectors fully developed its own engineering department. It is representing the most innovative and professional backup solution for all kind of applications for commercial and leisure boat operation.

Propulsion: Steyr Motors Hybrid

The first serialized hybrid propulsion power system that can be installed on all engines and drive combination. The environmental friendly hybrid solution marks a new chapter in the history of pleasure boat power. It not only assures zero emission and low speed manoeuvring in harbours, noiseless drive on inland waters and natural reserves, but also eliminated the need for a separate generator units for other on board equipment. The zero emission electric drive mode allows a speed of 5 knots using solely electric propulsion and switches to the combustion engine with an easy turn of the ignition key. The ingenious propulsion then gets boosted by the electric drive and enables quicker acceleration, lowering fuel consumption, improving response and dynamics. Significantly reduced maintenance costs and improved ease of service are further irrevocable arguments that Steyr motors is introducing a serious technological innovation. The Steyr Motors Hybrid has a power of 7 kw at 48 Volts, charging at 56 Volts and weighs 75 kg excluding battery pack, with a length of 100 mm.
