Two Saved as Cabin Cruiser Ends Aground at Montalto, Italy

Two boaters were saved as a ten meter cabin cruiser ended aground at Le Murelle near Montatlo in the Tuscany Tyrennian sea coast of Italy on the morning of Monday seventeen August.  The boaters were assisted by the Guardia Costiera of Montalto Coast Guard coming later to the scene, while a fisherman who was on the scene also assisting in the towing operation of the damage cabin cruiser which is reported to have pierced its hull.    

The boat in this accident is a Rodman 1090 as produced in the noughties till 2019.  The 1090 was a replacement to the 1050, and was replaced by the Rodman 1090 Evolution.

Classic Baglietto Saved from Sinking in Eolian Island of Panarea

A classic twenty meter Baglietto was saved from sinking offshore to the Eolian Island of Panarea to the North of Sicily, on the late afternoon of Saturday eight August.  The yacht was first assisted by nearby boaters with the Guardia Costiera Italian Coast Guard also coming to the scene.  The yacht was then towed to nearby Panarea, were an operation to stop the water ingress and save the yacht was a success.  An investigation on the cause of the incident is ongoing.

The yacht in this accident is a Baglietto 20M as designed by Paolo Caliari and produced from 1968 to 1977 in 73 units.  The 20M was a replacement to the Baglietto Minorca 20M.  

Wajer New Web Site

Wajer presents its new web site. Wajer was founded in 1992 by Dorus Wajer a previous employer at Atmos Ventilation Techniques in Uden, a ventilation specialized company.  In 1990 the 36 year old Dorus will leave Atmos and starts the design and build of the seven meters Captain Launch in that year.  The seven meter Captan Launch will debut in 1992 and will be produced till 2021 and is followed by the Vripack designed classic sport-boat looking Osprey 37 in 2005, and then the smaller Osprey 34 in 2010.  In 2013 the Osprey 37 replacement the Wajer 38 arrives, with this added with the S version in 2015.  In 2016 Wajer debuts the 55 model, with this outsized by the 77 in 2021.  In 2019 Dorus son Dries, who started as managing director two years before takes charge of Wajer.  Today Wajer offers nine models which start from the 38 and go up to the 77, with its latest model being the second version of the 55 which arrived in the fall of 2024.  Wajer new website takes you around with the following buttons; Models, Pre-owned, Owners, Charter, and About.  Wajer is also on social media with bottom right buttons taking you to its Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Linkedin, and Pinterest pages.

56 Meter Super Yacht Collides Into Famous Corinth Canal Walls

The 55 meter super yacht Blue II was filmed as it collided in the wall of the famous Corinth Canal in Greece, on the morning of Saturday eight August.  The video was filmed by Michalis Papamanolakis and shared on the YouTube channel Korinthognosia. In the clip, the 55 meters super yacht is seen passing within inches of the walls before glancing off them more than once on its starboard side.

Every year we have a yacht filmed as it collides in the banks of the Corinth Canal, in July 2025 it was a Princess 40M, while in July 2024 it was a Heesen 50 meter.

The yacht in this accident, Blue II is a 2020 custom build Turquoise Yacht 55.9 meters hull number NB72 as designed by Hock design for both exterior and naval architecture, with interiors by Vickers.

Project: Steeler Ocean Explorer 88

Steeler Yachts introduces the Ocean Explorer 88, the first tri-deck yacht from the semi-custom Dutch yacht builder. Latest addition to its Ocean Explorer range, the 88 is designed in collaboration with Pim Dijksman, and will feature a beam of over seven meters. A pocket explorer super yacht the Ocean Explorer 88 combines eight berths including a full-beam owner's cabin on the main deck, separate crew accommodation for four with a dedicated captain's cabin, large provision and equipment storage, a spa and wellness area and a work deck carrying two tenders of seven and five meters. The Ocean Explorer 88 features a round-bilged hull shape, and will be build with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure to RINA Pleasure Yacht Class. Two Boats Fire Wrecked In Novalja Boat Yard at Island of Pag, Croatia

Two boats of about fourteen and ten meters respectively were wrecked by fire in a boat yard in Novalja on the island of Pag in Croatia, with the blaze starting at 02:50 early morning Tuesday eighteen August.  The Volunteer Fire Department of Novalja responded to the blaze with eighteen fire fighters and six emergency vessels.  The fire fighting lasted two hours and was controlled to these two vessels.  The cause of the fire is under investigation, with the boat yard owner stating that this started in one of the electrical systems of the two boats.

Maritimo expands its next-generation model line-up with the launch of the new S50 Sedan Motor Yacht at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in May 2026. Greenline Yachts has unveiled project designs for the 50 model set to be available in both Fly, and Coupe version as rendered below.  The 50 will replace the existing Greenline 48, which has been one of the yard’s top-sellers for more than a decade. While the new Greenline 50 serves a similar segment of the market, it will be bigger, sleeker and include a host of new features. The first hull in the new Greenline 50 Fly is already nearing the end of its build process, with launch at Portoroz, Slovenia scheduled for late summer. Every new yacht draws lessons from its predecessors, so the Greenline 50 is a clear evolution of the brand’s DNA and celebrated design language. Its tall, safe bulwarks, the dynamic swept-back superstructure, bright spaces and flexible hybrid drives are all pure Greenline. Like its predecessor the new Greenline 50 offers three versatile cabins that can be arranged as twins or doubles, and up to three bathrooms.  The main deck offers comfortable one-level living, with no steps between the cockpit and the saloon, which is bathed in natural light thanks to generous dimensions and all-round glazing. Project: Aquila 35 Sport

Aquila present the 35 Sport project which features and follows similar bold sporty styling as the flagship of the Sport range the 45 Sport in a more compact package. Featuring a double-stepped hull the 35 Sport is set to deliver a strong performance and efficiency, backed by twin Mercury 300hp as standard and or twin optional 400hp outboards for speeds up to 45 knots with the large engine options. With a beam just short of four meters and a half the 35 Sport layout is built for entertaining as much as high-speed cruising. Nordhavn New Web Site

Nordhavn famous for its line of explorer yachts and cruisers presents its new web site.  Nordhavn was founded in 1988, with its first model the 46 launched in 1989.  But the company history started in 1973 when Jim Leishman and Dan Streech meet in a brokerage firm and start building the foundations for what in time will become first the Pacific Asian Enterprises up to what will be the North Harbor English translation of Nordhavn.  Interesting first anecdote come on the launch of the first Nordhavn 46 is that Cruising World magazine declined its advertisements, and builder Ta Shiing from Taiwan declined to build it.  In fact it will be Tsai Wan Sheu in Taiwan who will build the first Nordhavn model. For the second Nordhavn model the 62 the American Asian company will have to wait two years launched in the dark period of boating known as the American 10% Luxury Tax.  A 50 in 1995, and a 56MS a year later were the next Nordhavn models to come after the luxury tax was ended.  2007 marked an important year for Nordhavn with the company building its first super 24 meters plus yacht 86 model, and a year later to this the opening of its new building facility located in Xiamen China.  Nordhavn current line up offers sixteen models from the entry level 46MkII to the 120 flagship. Nordhavn debut with its 46 model in 1989

New Model: Cantiere delle Marche RJ102

Cantiere delle Marche launches the first RJ102 titled Mon Coeur. The first RJ102 joins the ranks of the finest yachts produced in recent years: a 31-meter steel-hulled explorer yacht that refuses to compromise. Cantiere delle Marche has taken the soul of their RJ explorer series, that distinctive blend of rugged capability and refined elegance, and distilled it into a smaller model entry level to the range designed by Francesco Paszkowski. At 31 meters in length and a full load displacement of 250 tons, beneath her contemporary exterior, RJ102 hides serious ocean-going ambition with a range of four thousand nautical miles at ten knots. Cantiere delle Marche RJ102 accommodates nine guests across four suites, including the owners stateroom, with tended by a crew of five. Giorgio M. Cassetta shaped her interiors spaces to mirror the owners’ lifestyle, not some catalogue ideas. The result is consistent with Mon Coeur overall feel as the designer explains.

Project: Northwest 58

Northwest Yachts present the 58 project, the largest model in the new fleet, and a direct expansion of the Northwest 52 and 55. Designed with the same exceptional layout and design features, the Northwest 58 features a larger cockpit and increased interior living space. Built with long-range cruising abilities, and spacious living areas, the Northwest 58 provides exceptional comfort packaged in a durable, high performance, luxury cruising yacht. This time the model name matches with the actual overall length of the yacht. The Northwest 58 is to be constructed with vacuum-bagged composite construction, and is an expansion from the 55 model. Onboard the Northwest 58 is a three-cabin layout with all cabins on the lower deck. The master suite is located just forward of midships while there is a VIP V-berth in the bow and another guest cabin on the forward port side. The main deck splits between the main saloon on the aft portion of the deck and the wheelhouse steps-up in height via a couple steps. The relaxation part of the saloon and galley share the same general space while the wheelhouse is perched higher and is accompanied by a corner settee and table. There is also a flybridge area fitted with a pair of helm seats. The port side also carries a built-in settee with accompanying table. Moving aft and down a couple steps will be the open boat deck which is specifically envisioned to store the yacht's tender as it has a built-in crane installed across the beam. Once the tender is launched to the water, the extensive deck space is free to set-up as desired. The Northwest 58 is to be powered by twin John Deere 330hp.

Thirty Meter Super Yacht Sinks Near Poltu Quatu, Sardinia

Fourteen persons were saved as the thirty meter super yacht Angiola II started to list to its starboard side and sink near Porto Ferro and Capuccini Island in the Poltu Quatu locality of the Emeerald Coast in Sardinia on the evening of Tuesday eleventh August.  The Italian Guardia Costiera and Port Captaincy of La Maddalena responded to the emergency as the fourteen persons onboard were saved by nearby boaters.  The cause of the sinking are reported to have developed following an onboard fire which was controlled.  Salvage operations are underway as the yacht listed completely to its starboard and sank even more.

The yacht in this accident is a 2020 Amer F100 as designed by Verme and produced since 2019 to date in six units.  The F100 was a replacement to the Amer Cento.

Aicon presents the A50 model, a day sport yacht with full amenities as designed by Michele Dragoni.  Previously announced as the 50 Audace, the A50 started as a collaboration with the Dutch Lynx yachts and has now come out as a unique project, as it evolved it presented new features like larger hull windows, and was removed by the aperture serving the forward main deck.  The Aicon A50 comes as out as a versatile offer, with three propulsion options; IPS pod drives, line shafts, and outboards, and two cockpit choices for quadruple helm Station with double sofa or triple helm station and or wraparound bar counter.  The lower deck of the Aicon A50 offers two cabins with a crew cabin.  The Aicon A50 is powered by triple Mercury 600hp in outboards for speeds up to 48 knots, with the Volvo 480hp and IPS propulsion giving forty knots max speeds, and line shafts up to 38 knots.

David King 1942 - 2026

David King the founder of Plymouth’s Princess Yachts has left for the better World at the age of 84 following a period of illness.  David King along with two other friends x-naval officers will found Marine Projects in Plymouth in 1965, what would in 1969 become Princess as it launched the 32 model.  King will spend more than six decades building Princess into one of Britain's most respected production yacht manufacturers.  David’s contribution extended far beyond the yachts themselves, through Princess he helped establish Plymouth as one of the world's leading centres for luxury yacht building, creating skilled employment for generations and contributing to Britain's reputation for high-quality manufacturing and exports.  Although he stepped back from the day-to-day leadership of the business, David King remained actively involved until very recently, continuing to spend time with Princess's development teams and contributing to the future direction of its products. Those who knew David best remember a man of quiet determination, endless curiosity and genuine humility.  Born in Dundee in 1942, Mr King studied engineering at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth while serving in the Royal Navy. It was there that he developed the technical understanding that would underpin his career and together with the two friends; Brian Phillips and Cliff Viney he founded Marine Projects from a modest waterside shed in Plymouth in 1965.  The company started as a charter venture and went on to become the modern Princess Yachts and today exports to more than one hundred countries worldwide building motor cruisers and yachts from twelve to 32 meters.

One Man Rescued as Yacht Ends Aground in Kytheras Island, Greece

One man was saved as a 21 meter motor yacht ended and partly sank in the rocky area at Diakofti on the Island of Kythira, Greece on the morning of Monday ten August.  Hellenic Coast Guard responded to the emergency first, saving the man, and were later assisted by local fire fighters and civil protection personnel. A monitoring of the situation is ongoing, as the yacht gets more damage and sinks more with the rough seas of the day.  The cause of the sinking is reported to be a broken anchorage due to the rough seas of the early morning day.

The yacht in this accident is a Landestein 72 as produced in the noughties.  The Landestein 72 became famous as it featured in the 2003 block buster movie 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Project: ISA Yachts Timeless 52 M

ISA Yachts presents Timeless 52 M, a new model which launched the line developed in collaboration with Luca Dini, conceived to stand the test of time through authoritative styling and architectural rigor.  The 52 meter first model is to be the first in a range which include fiver models from 42 to 82-metres.  The Timeless series stands out for its strongly horizontal exterior language, balanced proportions and formal purity that reflect the most authentic identity of ISA Yachts: balance, elegance and contemporaneity. The first model developed the ISA Timeless 52 metres, is a project that takes the concept of customization to a new level. Every detail has been carefully studied to enhance the harmony of the lines and the coherence of the proportions, making full use of the yacht’s length thanks also to the verticality of both stern and bow. With a beam of nine metres, ISA Timeless 52 clearly expresses a design vision focused on fully experiencing outdoor spaces. Large walkaround areas wrap around the yacht, allowing for smooth and natural circulation and offering generous spaces to be enjoyed with guests, in a continuous dialogue between comfort, conviviality and connection with the sea. The yacht can accommodate up to twelve guests in six cabins, with multiple layout combinations enabling extreme customization. Wajer Boat Goes Ablaze in Port Hercules, Monaco

An eleven meter Wajer sport cruiser went ablaze at the far end of Quai Rainier Ier Grand Amiral de France in Port Hercules, Monaco on the morning of Friday seven August.  Monaco’s port services, Maritime Police and Fire Brigade tended to the fire, extinguishing and controlling it in some minutes and avoiding damage to other yachts.  The cause of the fire is not reported.

The boat in this fire is a Wajer 38 as designed by Vripack and produced since 2013.  The 38 was a replacement to the Wajer 37.

Project: Patrone 45 Convertible

Family Saved as Sport Cruiser Ends Aground at San Teodoro, Sardinia

An eleven meter sport cruiser with a family of four persons ended aground near San Teodoro and the Marina of Punta Aldia to the East of Sardinia on the late afternoon of Monday third August.  The Vigili del Fuoco Fire Fighters coordinated by the Guardia Costiera of Olbia Coast Guard tended to the accident rescuing the family first with a Jet-Bike and a rescue boat. Following this an operation was made to save the boat, with this then towed to the yacht yard of the Marina Punta Aldia.  The boat is reported to have ended aground after it dragged anchor.

The boat in this is accident is a second generation Rio 38 Parana as designed by Marino Alfani and produced from 2020 to 2024.  The second generation 38 Parana was a replacement to the first generation 38 Parana, and was replaced by the Rio 40 Parana. 

Boston Whaler Ends Aground Near Marco Island, Florida

A nine meter Boston Whaler sportfish cruiser ended aground on a sand-bar near Marco Island, Florida on the late afternoon of Sunday second August. The boat was assisted by TowBoatUS Naples and Marco Island, who shared the story on its Facebook page.  TowBoatUS towed the boat into deep water later on in the evening. The cause of the accident and persons on board at time of the incident was not reported.

The boat in this accident is a Boston Whaler 315 Conquest as produced from 2013 to 2020.  The 315 Conquest was a replacement to the 305 Conquest, and was replaced by the Boston Whaler 325 Conquest.

New Model: Riva Aquariva Special 10.07 m

The Aquariva is the boat that inherited the legacy of the legendary Aquarama, becoming the most storied model in the range with more than 300 units produced in over 20 years. The Aquariva, a symbol of Riva’s contemporary spirit, writes its seventh new chapter in the history books as it debuts the Special version, an honour previously bestowed only on the Aquarama. True to the proportions and harmonious lines that made the boat so famous, the Aquariva Special interacts with the brand’s current stylistic hallmarks to achieve a perfect balance between the heritage of the original model and the contemporary design that characterises more recent Rivas. The subtle touches that define the new aesthetic of the Aquariva Special are by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, founders of Officina Italiana Design, the studio that has been designing all Riva boats on an exclusive basis for over thirty years working in partnership with the Strategic Product Committee of the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. One of the most important new features is the windscreen, which has been completely redesigned to give the boat’s silhouette a more modern and streamlined look. The stern swim platform also has a wider and more ergonomic design, featuring steps with a new curvature to offer guests even more comfort and make it easier to enter and leave the water. The handrail and mooring cleat pay tribute to the previous version, the Aquariva Super, while the mahogany fascia is now fibreglass and the same colour chosen by the owner for the hull, as are the large sunpad and the air intake grilles. One of the standout features at the bow is the new design of the navigation lights and casing, which Aquariva Special shares with Riva Anniversario the limited edition created in 2022 to celebrate 180 years since the brand’s foundation, while the deck is perfectly smooth again, without the traditional skylights reminiscent of the Aquarama, creating an even more pared-down look. The cockpit area is designed as an elegant lounge on the water that blends comfort and conviviality with a sense of refinement. The large U-shaped sofa upholstered in Sky fabric the same colour as the hull embraces the central space, creating a welcoming area that can be transformed according to the time of day by means of a centrally positioned table, also available with an up-down mechanism, used to convert the dining area seating up to eight into a private and protected additional sunbathing area. Shelter from the sun is provided by a bimini top operated by an electro-hydraulic mechanism housed in the sofa backrest. Moving forward, the driving seat is on the port side, with a practical service cabinet to starboard containing a sink, a fridge and a work top, perfect for making cocktails and snacks. The dashboard pays homage to tradition and is available in an analogue version, as well as in a digital version with up to two Boening displays and an integrated navigation system. The boat can also be equipped with a joystick for even more intuitive control during mooring operations. A major innovation is the option to fit the Aquariva Special with a Seakeeper NG6 to eliminate roll, ensuring absolute comfort both under way and at anchor. The installation of this advanced system is made possible by the decision to introduce infusion hull lamination in place of the manual process, significantly reducing the weight of the boat without affecting its structural rigidity. This makes it feasible to install a gyroscopic stabilizer without affecting the boat’s trim or performance. To stabilise the boat when under way, Aquariva Special is now fitted with Humphree interceptors in place of the flaps on the previous version. Performance-wise, Aquariva Special has the same verve as always and is fitted with twin Yanmar 370hp engines paired with electronically controlled two-speed gearboxes, driving the boat to a top speed up to forty knots and a cruise of 36 knots while unleashing the pleasure of Riva’s signature cruising style.

Ferretti Yacht Crash in Miami River Wall

A twenty meter Ferretti Yacht was filmed as it crashed into the river wall of the Miami river on the late morning of Saturday first August.  The story shared on the Onlyindade Instagram profile with the yacht filmed as it crashed bow port side into the wall.  In the video and following the collision one crew is seen jumping down from the bow to asses the damage.  The cause of the collision is not advised, although it does look to be a throttle command failure. 

The yacht in this accident is Ferretti 680 as designed by Zuccon and produced from 2003 to 2006.  The 680 was a replacement and evolution of the 68, and was replaced by the Ferretti 681.

Competition Note

Since the beginning of the 2026 year PowerYachtBlog has added the competition line offer in the New Model section.  The competition offer chooses the most similar competitive model to the New Model presented.

The interesting part has been that today the competition is not always simple as it may always seem and was a decade ago.  That means that everyone is trying to offer something different to the other, which means product development is going beyond just presenting a new model for the sake of it.  Even for example when I thought finding a competitor was easy sometimes it was not, like for example a ten meter center console sport cruiser, as the new model many times offered something the other did not.

Then there is also New Models were competition does not exist, because they are pushing a new niche.  An example to this are the new Viking 64 Sport Coupe or the De Antonio D60.  The De Antonio for example thanks to its outboard propulsion and sport yacht comfort has no competition in its eighteen meter size.  While for the Viking it is fair to say production express sport fish at nineteen meters do not exist today.  Yes you can still go to one of the dozen or so custom yacht builder on the East coast and make one, but that's about it.
