BlueGame Boat Sinks Near Massa Lubrense, Sorrento

A Blue Game sport cruiser of twelve meters in length with two families totalling eight persons onboard semi sank near Grotta dei Colombi, at the Punta Campanella reserved area, Massa Lubrense to the West of Sorrento on the afternoon of Sunday fifteen June.  The eight persons onboard were saved by a nearby boater, who was in the area as the Bluegame cruiser started to sink, with this remaining mostly sank and its bow sticking out of the water.  Following the incident the Guardia Costiera and Port Captaincy tended to the scene along with Area Marina Protetta of Massa Lubrense environment police, with no pollution reported from the sinking.  The sport cruiser was reported that it started to take water from its drives, as an investigation is ongoing to find the exact causes of how this happened.  The BlueGame cruiser was recovered and taken to a boat yard for repairs on Monday 23 June.
The BlueGame in this sinking is a BG40 as designed by Luca Santella and Lou Codega for naval architecture and produced from 2011 to 2017.  The BG40 is Blue Game third model, introduced as an entry level offer, then replaced by the BG42.

Aft Cabin Cruiser Saved from Sinking in Black River, Michigan

Two persons were saved as a twelve meter aft cabin cruiser titled m/y Djs Enterprise was taking on water at Black River, Michigan on the afternoon of Tuesday fourth June, 2024.  The boat's skipper called 911 and reported the cruiser was taking on water and in danger of sinking, as United States Coast Guard sector Northern Great Lakes arrived to assist the two boaters, with this followed by Alcona Sheriff, who took the two boaters to safety and then transported them to Harrisville Harbour.
The boat in this accident is a Marine Trader Tradewinds 43 as produced from 1987 to 1991.  The Tradewinds 43 was a replacement to the more trawler looking Marine Trader 44 Tri Cabin, and was replaced by the 46 Double Cabin.

14 Persons Saved as 60 Foot Yacht Sinks at Motiti Island, New Zealand

An eighteen meter Maritimo motor yacht with fourteen persons onboard sank near Tauranga, Mototi Island, to the North East of New Zealand, at 13:40 of Friday sixteen May.  The fourteen boaters were rescued by a nearby boat as the Police alerted the New Zealand Coast Guard who later intervened on the scene.  Coast Guard from Maketū, Tauranga and Whakatāne alongside the Customs vessel Hawk V attended the accident and when they arrived at the spot found the eighteen meter motor yacht semi-sunk, with the bow sticking out of the water and the stern touching the bottom at about six hundred meters away from the shore.  A plan was immediately put into place to control pollution, with a salvage being organized.  The fourteen boaters were transferred to Coastguard Maketū’s rescue vessel, Eastpack Rescue, and taken to shore in Tauranga.  The cause of the sinking was reported to be an error of navigation, as the yacht hit charted marked underwater reefs.   The yacht was salvaged on Monday, and taken to a yacht yard in Tauranga.
The yacht in this sinking is a 2006 Maritimo Offshore 60 as designed by its builder Billy Barry-Cotter and produced from 2004 to 2008.  The Offshore 60 was Maritimo first model, which debuted the today famous Australian brand, with the model replaced by the 56 Cruising Motoryacht.

Sea Ray Cruiser Ends Aground in Livingston Channel, Michigan

A Sea Ray sport cruiser of ten meters in length ended beached near Grosse Ile, Michigan on the Livingston Channel on the evening of 24 July.  A navigational error caused the incident for a story shared by Instagram user Havensgeoff and then re-shared by the TheQualifiedCaptain.  The amount of people on the Sea Ray cruiser and who assisted in the aftermath is not reported.  The Sea Ray cruiser had its name covered, with the damage looking to be not so big, also because the Sea Ray beached itself of what looks to be soft ground.
The Sea Ray in this beaching is a second generation 330 Sundancer as produced from 1995 to 1999.  The 330 Sundancer was a replacement to the first generation 330 Sundancer, and was replaced by the second generation Sea Ray 340 Sundancer.

Yacht Collides Into Sea Wall at Marina del Rey, California

A 23 meter motor yacht collided into a sea wall near to the El Torito Restaurant, at Marina del Rey, California just before 15:00 of Saturday 26 July.  Los Angeles County Fire fighters responded to the collision, with no injuries reported apart the damage to the yacht's bow and sea wall.  The yacht is reported to have had a mechanical failure, probably a throttle malfunction as it headed making way into the sea wall.   Following the incident the yacht was towed away.
The yacht in this collision is a Lazzara 76, as produced from 1992 to 2002 in 48 units.  The Lazzara 76 was available with two important layout options; wide-body deck house and enclosed sky-lounge flybridge.  Lazzara made thirty in each of these versions.  The Lazzara 76 was replaced by the 80 in 2003.

Sport Cruiser Ends Beached near Venice, Italy

An eleven meters sport cruiser titled m/y Putea with two persons onboard ended beached at Cavalino-Treporti to the South East of Venice at 17:45 of Monday 21 July.  The sport cruiser called a Mayday first after it lost power in rough seas, and then arriving at about three hundred meters from the beach dropped anchor.  In the meantime the Port Captaincy of Jesolo responded to the Mayday, with the B111 rescue rib and the CP 883 boat, rescued the two boaters.  After this the Guardia Costiera was trying to tow the boat out of danger with the assistance of the m/v Tofi tug boat, an operation which was not a success also because the sport cruiser dragged anchor and ended beached.  With the sport cruiser beached, the port captaincy later decided to tow up the boat out of harms way with two excavators, in order to avoid further damage and also the possibility of pollution. 
The boat in this beaching is a Bruno Abbate Primatist 39 as produced from 1992 to 1996.  The Primatist 39 was a replacement to the Bruno Abbate Primatist 38 and was replaced by the Primatist G39.

Absolute Sport Cruiser Fire Scare at Chalkidiki, Greece

A fourteen meter Absolute sport cruiser under Bulgarian flag had a fire scare while berthed at Nikiti marina, in Chalkidiki, in Central Macedonia, Greece at 13:00 of Monday 21 July.  A two minute video filmed by Paolo Colombo and shared on the Sinistri Marittimi Facebook Group shows one person onboard the sport cruiser as the boat is smoking from the stern.  By the end of this video the smoke looks in control, with local news confirming the blaze was extinguished and controlled, and the boat saved as damage is not extended to nearby boats and marina premises.  No injuries are reported from the fire, with the cause of the blaze not being reported.
The Absolute sport cruiser in this blaze is a 47 STC as produced from 2007 to 2011.  The 47 STC came out as a replacement to the Absolute 45, and was replaced by the 45 STY.

Hatteras Yacht Collides Into USS Midway Aircraft Carrier in San Diego

A twenty meter Hatteras sportfish yacht titled m/y Offshore collided into the retired aircraft carrier USS Midway berthed across the San Diego Bay from Naval Base Coronado, at 11:48 morning time of Friday eighteen July.  The Hatteras sportfish was filmed by the San Diego Bay webcam collision and visitors onboard the USS Midway during the collision, with the yacht hitting the berthed and retired aircraft carried with its bow port side, and then its tuna tower on the same side.  The sportfish yacht attempted to leave the scene in a hit and run, but was later intercepted by a San Diego Police boat.  The captain of the sportfish yacht was then arrested to be boating under the influence.  The damage to both vessels was reported to be small.
The Hatteras in this collision is a 65 Convertible Series I as designed by Jack Hargrave and produced from 1986 to 1998.  The 65 Convertible Series I was a replacement to the Hatteras 60 Convertible Series I, and was replaced by the 65 Convertible Series II. 
USS Midway is a 305 meters CV-41 Midway class Aircraft carrier built by Newport News Shipbuilding and commissioned on ten September 1945, and decommissioned on eleven April 1992 with flag deleted on eleven March 1997.  The USS Midway had two modifications over the years, which extended its beam from the original 37 meters to 41 meters in the first update of 1952, and then to 73 meters in the last update from 1975.  From 7 June 2004 the USS Midway has been open to the public as a museum ship in San Diego.

Flybridge Cruiser Ends Disabled in Cromer, Norfolk

A flybridge cruiser of twelve meters in length ended disabled as it was cruising off the coast of Cromer, in the Norfolk Coast, to the East of the United Kingdom at 09:15 morning time of Friday eighteen July.  The flybridge cruiser was an hour after the incident assisted by the RNLI Shannon class life boat, who found out that flybridge cruiser had its propeller stuck into fishing gear.  After this the life boat towed the boat to a safe area first, and later free'd its propeller from the fishing gear.  The Sealine flybridge cruiser was later able to make it on it's power to its destination.
The Sealine in this accident is a 420 Statesman as produced from 1995 to 1997.  The 420 Statesman was a replacement to the Sealine 410, with the model soft evolving with extended bathing platform into the F44.

Princess Super Yacht Collides Into Corinth Canal Bank, Greece

The forty meter Princess super yacht Le Verseau collided into the Corinth Canal left bank, in Greece as it was passing from the famous channel on Thursday seventeen July at 17:58 hours.  The story was broken by The Yacht Report on his video cast of Friday 25 July, for a video which is reported as sent by one of his viewers.  According to its AIS the Princess yacht was heading North West, going from the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea to the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea.  The cause of the collision are not reported though most probably the captain lost control because of the current which has the habit of becoming rather insidious at times.  
This is the second reported yacht which collided into the Corinth Canal bank in less to a year, as on 28 July 2024 the 49 meter Heesen m/y Home suffered a similar fate.  But the chances are big that the collisions in the Corinth Canal are more common to this, with the lucky part being if you are filmed or photo'ed or not.  
M/y Le Verseau is a 2016 Princess 40M as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2012 to 2019 in eight units.  The 40M is Princess largest built yacht to date, and was the second model of the M super yachts line which debuted with the 32M in 2011, and was stopped in 2019 with a 30M as its last build.

Classic Sportfish Ends On The Rocks at Merrimack River

A classic Egg Harbor sportfish cruiser of ten meters in length with two persons onboard ended atop a reef at the entrance of the Merrimack River near Plum Island, in Massachusetts North East of the USA on the evening of Wednesday sixteen July.  An error of navigation was the cause of the grounding, and also because the classic cruiser navigated outside the markers with low tide.  The classic cruiser decided to wait for a high tide to get removed, with this expected not before midnight.
The Egg Harbor in this grounding is a 33 Sedan as produced from 1971 to 1981.  The 33 Sedan was Egg Harbor first fiberglass hulled boat, build with a mahogany deck and super structure till 1978.  The 33 Sedan was replaced by a second generation Egg Harbor 33 Sedan.

Flare Gun Play Causes Fire to Classic Hatteras in Bradenton Florida

A classic thirteen meters Hatteras sportfish cruiser had its flybridge go ablaze at Twin Dolphin Marina, near Riverwalk, Bradenton, Florida on 13:30 of Monday fourteen July.  Bradenton Fire Department and City of Bradenton Fire tended to the fire which was reported on 911 by witnesses, and managed to extinguish it, with the damage circumstanced solely to the flybridge area.  Following this an eye witness who saw the accident reported that he saw three teens fire something off the bridge, and set the flybridge of the Hatteras boat.  With this report and CCTV in hand from the area, the Bradenton Police Department incriminated the three teens  kids aged between eleven and fourteen years old, who were charged with first degree arson, firearm possession, and discharging of a firearm in public and private property.  The three kids were then transported to the Manatee Juvenile Detention Center.
The Hatteras in this accident is a 46 Convertible Series I as designed by Jack Hargrave and produced from 1974 to 1981.  The 46 Convertible Series I was a replacement to the 45 Convertible Series I, and was replaced by Hatteras 46 Convertible Series II.

40 meters Super Yacht Ends Atop Reef Near Bodrum

The forty meter super yacht titled m/y Monte Carlo ended atop a visible reef offshore to Karancir, in the Aklaryar region of Bodrum on Monday fourteen July.  The cause and the number of persons onboard at the time of the grounding are not reported, and if the yacht ran aground for an error of navigation or a technical problem.  The super yacht was being assisted by a tug boat on the same day, with a plan for a recovery being organized to float it and take it to a yacht yard for inspection and then to do the needed repairs.  The yacht was floated and towed to Didim on Thursday afternoon.
M/y Monte Carlo the yacht in this incident is a custom 1988 delivered Amels 40.23 meters as designed by Diana for exterior and interiors from Claudette Bonville.

Sealine Yacht Destroyed by Fire at Dalyan Marina, Turkey

A fifteen meter Sealine flybridge yacht titled m/y Seanymph went ablaze as it was berthed at Dalyan Marina, at Cesme, in the province of Izmir, Turkey at 10:30 of Sunday thirteen July.  A crew onboard the yacht notified the marina as he saw smoke coming from inside the vessel, with the marina staff and other boaters cutting the mooring lines and towing the yacht outside the marina to avoid damage to other nearby yachts.  Following this the Marine Fire Brigade tended to the blaze which was extinguished outside of the marina, as the Sealine yacht was wrecked by the blaze, and sunk.  The cause of the yacht fire is under investigation.
The flybridge yacht in this fire is a Sealine T52 as designed by Roger Tucker for exterior with John Bennett responsible for naval architecture, and produced from 2005 to 2007.  The T52 was a soft evolution and replacement of the Sealine T51, and was replaced by the T50.

Itama Sport Cruiser Sinks in Salins Beach, St. Tropez

A twelve meter Itama sport cruiser partly sank in Salins Beach, to the South East of St. Tropez on the afternoon of Saturday twelfth July.  This sinking was reported on the This is StTropez Facebook page.  After the part sinking, the sport cruiser was taken near the shore, and what looks to be its skipper is filmed dropping the anchor.  The cause of the sinking and numbers of passengers onboard at the time of the accident is not reported.  The Itama sport cruiser was still sank and boon protected as of Monday.
The Itama in this sinking is a Forty model, as designed by Marco Casali and produced from 2005 to 2011 in 109 units.  The Forty was the first model of the Ferretti Group Itama ownership era, and was a replacement to the previous 40, with the model replaced by the 45.

One Injured as Sport Yacht Blasts Into Cala Cecata, Ponza

One man was injured as a sport yacht of eighteen meters in length collided at sustained cruise speeds of over twenty knots into the drop down rocks of Cala Cecata, to the North West of the island of Ponza at 09:32 morning time of Saturday twelfth July.  This is an accident collision which could have had much worse outcome, and it is a miracle that it only one boater onboard the yacht was injured, as after it was reported that this blasted on top a group of scuba divers which were diving below the sea bed just before the collusion.  The Guardia Costiera and 118 emergency squad responded to the collision, and took the injured boater by helicopter to a hospital nearby.  De Main Danilo later transferred the yacht to a boat yard at Ponza as the cause of the collision are currently under investigation. 
The yacht in this collision is a Dalla Pieta DP 58 HT as produced from 2004 till 2010.  The DP 58 HT came out as a replacement to the Dalla Pieta DP 55 Al Na'Ir as produced in the nineties.

Skipper Saved as Power Catamaran Sinks at Massa Lubrense, Naples

One person was saved as a power catamaran of twenty meters in length titled m/y Sciocco partly sank near Massa Lubrense, to the South of the Gulf of Naples on the evening of Thursday ten July.  The Port Captaincy of Castellamare di Stabia saved the sole skipper onboard the power catamaran, following a MayDay call on VHF.  The power catamaran was under charter duty from Monday seventh departing from the Torre Annunziata harbour with two guests plus skipper, although as reported by the Charter company the guests were dropped at Minori, and were not onboard during the part sinking, as reported by some media outlets from the area.  The cause of the sinking is not reported, with a recovery operation of the partly sank power catamaran was organized the following day, with it reported drifting semi-sunk in between Punta Lagna and Punta Campanella.
The power catamaran in this sinking is a 2023 delivered Overblue 64.  Overblue from Cologne, Lombardy, Italy was a company founded in 2015, which presented itself with a voluminous house boat styled power catamaran, with CE B certification. It debuted with a 44 model first, and this was followed by larger models up to the 64, with the company closing its doors in 2020.

Two Crew Injured as Classic Super Yacht Goes Ablaze in St. Tropez

Two crew were injured as the classic 41 meter super yacht titled m/y Sea Lady II under Valletta, Malta flag went ablaze in a high peak Summer busy St. Tropez marina, in the South of France at 20:00 of Thursday tenth July.  The fire started at the raised pilot house on the top deck, and then spread to the yachts main deck, as the VAR fire department intervened to fight the blaze.  The fire fighting course of action was to remove nearby yachts, with St. Tropez being one of the Mediterranean's most busy marina's, and then fight the fire.  The blaze was extinguished by midnight, although fire fighters still had problems boarding the yacht, with this listing to its port side, partly sank and still taking on water.  The two crew suffered smoke inhalation, with no other injuries reported.  The cause of the fire, as the number of people onboard at the time of the fire was not reported.
M/y Sea Lady II previously named D'Angleterre II is a W.A. Souter and Sons 41 meter, build in 1986 at Cowes on the Isle of Wight to a design of Don Shead.  Sea Lady II was refitted last year in 2024, and is the largest of four Souter super yachts, all build between 1984 to 1986.  W.A. Souter and Sons was founded 1961 and closed in 1987.
Media sensationalism was over kill on this fire, because of the location but also on the value of the classic super yacht with various media outlets wrongly quoting ten to one hundred million as value. Although currently not for sale, m/y Sea Lady II was last listed for sale in 2021 for 2,750,000 million EUROS, and then removed from the market in 2023.

Traditional Cruiser Destroyed by Fire in Marina di Stabia, Naples

A traditional looking cruiser of ten meters in length, went ablaze as it was berthed at Marina di Stabia, to the South of Naples, on the early afternoon of Thursday ten July.  Immediate the reply of the Marina di Stabia staff who tended to the fire first, and were then later assisted by the Vigili dell Fuoco fire fighters, and 118 emergency services, and thanks to their fast reaction the blaze was limited to this one boat.  No one was injured in the fire, as no one was reported onboard.  According to initial investigations a short circuit generated the fire.
The boat in this fire is a nearby built Esposito Positano 32 Open as designed by 20 Maree and produced since 2023.

Storm in Block Island Creates Havoc, Two Boats End Beached

A strong squall which developed in the evening of Thursday third July in Block Island, Rhode Island, created havoc for boaters anchored at Great Salt Pond, intended to enjoy a long weekend break to celebrates the July Fourth United States of America Independence Day.  The storm peaked wind gusts up to fifty knots, and waves up to two meters in the bay as videos on various social media platforms show numerous boats dragging anchor and soft colliding on each other.  Ultimately no one was reported grievously injured and only two boats ended beached, which considering the storm intensity and tens of boats and yachts all anchored or swing moored at close proximity to each other it was a lucky outcome, also thanks to the harbour master who was there assisting and saving the boats and yachts with his rib.  
A nine meter sport cruiser ended beached, with a sailing yacht of about ten meters in length finishing in the same position a couple meters away.
