Flybridge Yacht Partly Sinks in Lake Garda

A not attended fifteen meter flybridge yacht partly sank in Sirmione on Lake Garda on the morning Sunday 21 September.  The yacht was then later reported to have hit a reef during navigation the previous evening in rough water condition and handicapped with one engine, with the captain managing to bring it to its berth.  Following the part sinking the flybridge yacht was surrounded by a pollution protection boon, with a floating operation being organized on the coming days.
The yacht in this accident is a Galeon 510 Skydeck as designed by Tony Castro and produced since 2016.  The 510 HTC was based on the revolutionary 500 Fly platform, the first Galeon with drop down bulk heads, and a flybridge replaced by a part opening sunroof and smaller sport bridge up top.

Sea Ray Cruiser Falls From Trailer in Miami State Road

A nine meter Sea Ray sport cruiser titled Ceee Time was trailer dropped on and ended up blocking the eastbound lanes of State Road 112 near 22nd Avenue, in Miami at 11:00 morning time of Wednesday 27 July 2022.  The accident was attended by the Florida Highway Patrol and road rangers, who closed the eastbound lanes while crews worked to clear the scene, with the traffic diverted 22nd Avenue.  The eastbound roadways was opened and back to normal at around 12:30.  According to Florida Highway Patrol the trailer malfunctioned, cause the boat to fall.
The Sea Ray in this accident is a 290 Sun Sport as produced from 2002 to 2009.  The 290 Sun Sport replaced the 280 Sun Sport, and was replaced by the Sea Ray 290 Sundeck.

Sport Cruiser Wrecked by Fire in Argostoli, Greece

A sport cruiser of twelve meters in length was wrecked by fire as it was moored at the port of Argostoli, Kefalonia, Greece on the evening of Tuesday twenty August, 2024.  Firefighters rushed to the scene with four fire fighting vehicles and ten fire fighters to fight the blaze.  Nearby boats and yachts were moved as precaution, as the fire was controlled and then extinguished in a relatively short time, although the sport cruiser still ended wrecked and destroyed by the fire.  Due to the fire the coastal road in Argostoli was closed, causing traffic chaos, while the smoke and strong smell reached the central square of Argostoli.  No one was injured with the boat reported not to be attended before and during the blaze, with the cause of the fire not being reported.
The sport cruiser in this fire is a Cruisers 4270 Express as produced from 1997 to 2003.  The 4270 Express was a replacement to the raised bridge 4285 Express, and was replaced by the Cruisers 440 Express.

Carver Cruiser Ends Aground in Cape May, New Jersey

A ten meter Carver cruiser ended aground at Rosemans Lane, Cape May, New Jersey on the afternoon of Tuesday 22nd October.  The Carver cruiser ended aground during low tide and was assisted by Sea Tow Cape May.  Sea Tow towed the vessel to deep water on the same evening, and then took it to a harbour.  According to some comments on Facebook, the Carver cruiser was being transferred from Bohemia river to its new home.  The damage to the Carver cruiser was not reported for a story which was shared on the Sea Tow Cape May Facebook page.
The Carver in this accident is a 350 Mariner as produced from 1997 to 2003.  The 350 Mariner was a replacement to the 330 Mariner, and was evolved and replaced by the 36 Mariner.

Fairline Yacht Ends Aground in Yalikavak, Bodrum Turkey

A 23 meter Fairline yacht titled Alan under British flag ended aground during a sudden storm in Yalikavak, Bodrum, Turkey at around noon of Wednesday 22 October.  The Fairline yacht was anchored in the middle of the bay when a sudden thunder storm with heavy rain and strong winds drifted it into low water and aground.  The yacht captain and crew tried to avoid the grounding but to no avail, as the wind had at that stage taken control of the yacht.  With the sudden storm stopping some one hour later a rescue operation with a diver and towing boat was already underway.  No one was reported injured in the grounding, with the damage to the yacht not being reported.
The Fairline in this grounding is a Squadron 78 Custom, as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2008 till 2018 in 86 units.  The largest Fairline ever made, the Squadron 78 Custom was a replacement and evolution of the Squadron 74.

Mangusta Super Yacht Sinks in Marina at Gumbet, Bodrum

The 32 meter Mangusta super sport yacht Mina II sank in a marina at Mu Dünla in the province of Gumbet, Bodrum, Turkey on the night of Saturday eighteen October.  The yacht was moored in a berth at the marina, were for an unknown reason it sank stern first.  Coast guard and municipal teams were dispatched to the marina after port personnel alerted them of the yacht sinking.  No crew was onboard and reports say the yacht has not moved from this berth for the last two years.  Environmental inspectors are investigating the area for any fuel leaks, with the yacht protected by pollution protecting boons.   A recovery for the yacht is being organized.
M/y Mina II is a 1998 Overmarine Mangusta 107 first series as designed by Stefano Righini and produced from 1998 to 2002 in four units.  Mina II was the first hull of the Mangusta 107 and was refitted in 2017, with interiors by Gianni Versace and exteriors remade with new glazing and hard-top like the second series 107 as build from 2003 to 2005 in three other units.

Captain Life Lost as Sportfish Capsizes in Oregon Inlet North Carolina

A fifty year old Pennsylvania captain died, while the New Jersey mate was transported to the hospital after a fifteen meter sportfish yacht titled Moonstruck capsized in Oregon Inlet at around 12:30 of Saturday eighteen October. North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said the incident was reported by operators of another vessel in the area who happened to be on the phone with the U.S. Coast Guard checking conditions in the inlet when they witnessed the Moonstruck capsize. The Coast Guard was on scene within thirty minutes, who located Flannery, the Moonstruck’s 29 year old mate, who finding a utilized detergent bottle first and then a life jacket stayed afloat and survived. The mate was transported by Dare EMS to The Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head with what have been reported to be minor injuries.  Shortly afterwards the Coast Guard located the fifty year old Captain Francis Hennigan Jr of Pennsylvania in the water, unresponsive, and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Since the captain’s death was unwitnessed, an autopsy will be performed by the North Carolina's Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death, but it is suspected he died due to drowning. Moonstruck was en-route from Cape May, New Jersey to Florida and needed to stop in Beaufort, North Carolina for repairs to a damaged prop.  At the time of the incident the express sportfish was powered by three of its four Mercury outboard engines.  The incident capsizing and fatality are being investigated by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, noting that it is currently thought that the predominant factor were conditions in the inlet.  The hull of the express sportfish washed ashore on the north end of Pea Island on Sunday morning.
Unfortunately this is not the first time Oregon Inlet takes a life, as on third March 2024, Captain Charlie Griffin of Wicked Tuna TV series fame lost his life during a delivery of a ten meter sportfish cruiser, link for this story in comments below.
M/y Moonstruck the express sportfish in this accident is a custom cold moulded 2022 build Winter Custom Yacht 50 Walkaround Hull W-34, powered by a quadruple Mercury 600hp for top speeds up to 51 knots.  Winter Custom Yachts was founded by Tim Winter in 2006, launching its first 62 Convertible Hull W-1 in 2008, and is currently building its 41st sportfish.

57 Meter Super Yacht Fire Scare in Washington DC, USA

The 57 meter super yacht Dancing Hare under Marshall Islands flag had an onboard fire as it was berthed at Washington Harbour Marina of 600 block of Water Street SW, Washington DC, around 14:00 of Tuesday fourteen October.  Firefighters from the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the blaze which was reported to be of minimal entity and was controlled and extinguished.  For fighting the fire, the fire fighters turned off its power and evacuated the yacht.  No one was injured in the fire with the cause of the blaze not reported, with pictures showing it to be coming out from the raised pilot-house deck.   
M/y Dancing Hare is a 1986 steel build custom Amels 57.7 meter as designed by Banenberg and Rowell for exterior with naval architecture by Diana.  Dancing Hare had some high profile owners in its story from its commissioner Emad Khashoggi, who sold it in the first year to British Media magnate and politician Robert Maxwell, who died while on the yacht in 1991.  Current owner is Anna Murdoch Mann dePeyster, x-wife to Rupert Murdoch and mother to three of his adult children.  Dancing Hare was last refitted in 2023 by Derektor in Florida.

Not a Super Yacht Fire in Monaco

The classic 36 meters super yacht Lady Jersey under Portuguese flag was seen smoking in Port Hercules, Monaco on the morning of fourteen October.  Fire fighters with fire fighting vehicles along with Police forces rushed to the scene, and locked the road and car parking area part of the marina behind the yacht, although the two yachts of about thirty meters to both port and starboard near the smoking yacht were interestingly not moved.  The reason was that this was actually a fire drilling exercise, although many passers by and those who saw the video on Emman YouTube channel thought that this was actually a fire. 
M/y Lady Jersey the yacht in this fire drilling exercise is a 1955 custom Abeking and Rasmusen 36 meters, as designed by Henry Doelger and build in steel.  Lady Jersey was reported last refitted in 2014.

Formula Sport Boat Ends Aground in Huntington Bay, New York

A nine meter Forumla sport boat ended aground in Huntington Bay, on the North shore of Long Island, New York on the afternoon of Monday thirteen October.  Shared on the Boat Buddies Facebook Group, according to reports the Formula boat broke its mooring on the storm which hit the area on the day and then ended beached in the bay.  The cut line to its bow actually confirms the boat was tied up to something.  Some reports say this boat was moored next to its owners house, and was used regularly to commute to Manhattan and surrounding areas.  The damage of the boat was not confirmed, with some comments on Facebook reporting it ripped the hull and others saying it did not.
The Formula in this accident is a 292 Fastech as designed by John Adams and produced from 2002 to 2018.

Sea Ray Cruiser and Two Boaters Saved in Fjallbacka, Sweden

Two boaters were rescued as an eight meter Sea Ray sport cruiser lost power and ended on the rocks near Fjallbacka, Sweden before 20:00 of Thursday ninth October.  After receiving an alarm from the Sea and Air Rescue Center the Swedish Sea Rescue Society goes to the assistance of the Sea Ray cruiser with the RS Fjällbacka vessel.  As they arrived to the Sea Ray cruiser the rescue vessel finds it hitting the hard reefs in a perilous situation.  The conditions are challenging, but the Fjallbacka lifeguards who were in the middle of an exercise before the call act calmly and manage to pull the Sea Ray cruiser out to safe deep water.  After this they control the damage, and although the hull has taken a beating, it is not taking water, as the Sea Ray sport cruiser is then towed to a safe harbour in challenging seas with high waves.
The Sea Ray in this accident is the 268 Sundancer as produced from 1986 to 1989.  The 268 Sundancer was a replacement to the SRV260 Sundancer, and was replaced by the second generation Sea Ray 250 Sundancer.

Fifty Meter Classic Super Yacht Fire Damaged Near Agropoli, Italy

The classic fifty meter super yacht Espadarte under Valletta Malta flag was saved from a fire as it was cruising about seventeen nautical miles offshore to the coast of Agropoli, in the Cilentan Coast of the Tyrrhenian sea to the South of Naples, on the late morning of Thursday ninth October.  The Maltese flagged super yacht which also had sixteen persons onboard between crew and guests was assisted by two Guard Costiera vessels departing from Agropoli and Marina di Camerrota respectively, both of them carrying Vigili dell Fuoco fire fighting squads. The crew with assistance from a nearby boater also tried to control the fire before the Italian Guardia Costiera Coast Guard arrived, but had no success.  When the Guardia Costiera arrived the first operation was putting the sixteen persons to safety, and then to control the fire, which they did with success.  Following this the classic super yacht, which was handicapped and without power was towed to the harbour of Salerno, arriving there at 02:00 early hours of the following day.  For the towing operation to the harbour, the Port Captaincy of Salerno ordered that the Vigili del Fuoco squad remain onboard, due to the high risk of the fire re-igniting.  The blaze was reported as starting and confined to the engine room, as the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Motor Yacht Espadarte is a custom 50 meters as build by Portugal's Arsenal do Alfeite yard in 1968, to military specifications and exterior design by Jorge d’Almeida Araujo.  Espadarte has had some high profile owners over the years, from its first commissioner which was reported but never confirmed to be the then Prime Minister of the Estado Novo regime of Portugal.  After the fall of Portugal's New Order in 1974 the yacht was sold to Saudi-based Sheikh Mouffak al-Midani, who will in the nineties sell to Greek TV station and shipowner John Karageorgis.  Espadarte was last refitted by Lusben in 2018.

Azimut Cruiser Ends Beached in Gokova Bay, Mugla, Turkey

An eleven meter Azimut flybridge cruiser ended beached and aground in Gökova Bay in Akbuk, Muğla, Turkey on the morning of Tuesday seventh October.  The Azimut cruiser was reported to be anchored offshore to the bay, when it dragged anchor and ended beached as the wind from the South-Westerly intensified to force five intensity on that morning.  Locals and fisherman assisted the boat as no one was injured in the grounding, with some news saying that no one was onboard the flybridge cruiser as it ended beached.   
The Azimut cruiser in this accident is an AZ Trentanove model as designed by Stefano Righini and produced from 1999 to 2004.  The AZ Trentanove was a replacement to the AZ Trentasei, with model evolving into the 39 Evolution and produced for another three years.

Gallipoli Hurricane Storm Sinks Eight Boats Damages Others

A storm which hit strongest at the sea-side town of Gallipoli, to the West of the Salento peninsula of Apulia in South East Italy over the weekend and most strong on the morning of Sunday fifth October, has sunk eight small boats and damaged others.  The storm which had its greatest intensity on the morning of Sunday is reported to have reached wind speeds up to eighty knots, which classifies it beyond the Beaufort Force Twelve wind scale, and enters it into a Category One Hurricane.  The damaged boats were moored at Darsena Fontanelle to the East were two boats sunk, and in the more further to the North East Porto Gaio were another six boats sunk. The sunk boats are reported to be under seven meters in length.  Other boats and yachts from eight to 25 meters also sustained damage, as some of them broke there moorings and collided into other boats.  Three sail yachts of around twelve meters in length who were anchored inside the Gallipoli port also received assistance by the Guardia Costiera Italian Coast Guard.

Pershing Yacht Goes Ablaze in Marina Ibiza

A not attended fifteen meter Pershing sport yacht titled Bad Girl went ablaze in Marina Ibiza, before 09:00 of the early morning of Sunday fifth October.  According to reports the yacht had a first fire, which the fire fighters thought to have controlled, only for the fire to come again and wreck the yacht.  No injuries were reported, as the yacht was not attended during the blaze.  An investigation on the cause of the fire is being made, as the wreck of the yacht was taken to the nearby Nautica Varadero yacht yard for inspection.  
The Pershing sport yacht in this fire a 5X model as designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced since 2016.  The 5X was a replacement to the Pershing 50.1, and has been since that time the entry level model of the Italian sport yacht specialist.

Fairline Yacht Ends Aground in Bitez Aktur, Turkey

A twenty meter Fairline yacht ended aground and beached in Bitez Aktur, Bodrum district, Turkey on the early morning hours of Friday third October.  The yacht ended aground while at anchor and drifted to shore, as all those onboard including the skipper were asleep.  The Fairline yacht was reported to have sustained little to no damages from the grounding, also because it ended bow first in soft sand. Following checks the yacht was then later in the morning towed back to deep water.  No injuries were reported from the incident.
The yacht in this accident is a Fairline Squadron 68 Mk.3 as designed by Alberto Mancini and produced since 2022.  The Squadron 68 Mk.3 was a replacement to  the Fairline Squadron 68 Mk.2.

Classic Sport Cruiser Goes Ablaze in Kalkara, Malta

A classic fourteen meter sport cruiser titled m/y Valhalla with Valletta Malta flag went ablaze as it was moored at the Kalkara waterfront, in Malta's Grand Harbour at about 07:30 morning time of Thursday second October.  The fourteen meter classic sport cruiser was not attended at the time of the fire, as Civil Protection Malta firefighters from Fire Stations 1, 4, and 5 responded to the blaze.  Civil Protection was also assisted by The Malta Police Force, Transport Malta, and the Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department in the operation.  The blaze was successfully extinguished with the boat saved from sinking, but receiving important damage in the area around the engine room and aft cabin. 
The classic sport cruiser in this fire is a Mochi 47 Open as designed by Paolo Caliari and produced from 1988 to 1992.

Fairline Yacht Goes Ablaze in Perth, Australia

A not attended twenty meter Fairline sport yacht went ablaze as it was berthed at Hillary's Boat Harbour, on Perth's North coast, Australia on the morning of Saturday 27 September. Department of Fire and Emergency Services tended to the fire with thirty fire fighters and after one hour controlled the blaze, managing to stop it from jumping to other nearby vessels.  Following the fire extinguishing the Department issued a warning to boaters in the marina and nearby residents, over the black smoke that continued to billow from the boat and was causing pollution.  The yacht was reported totalled with the cause of the fire not reported and currently under investigation.
The yacht in this fire is a Fairline 65 Phantom as produced since 2022.  The Phantom 65 was based on the Alberto Mancini designed Targa 65 GTO platform, with the addition of a sport bridge up top.

Azimut Sport Yacht Sinks in Aventura Florida

A not attended twenty meter Azimut sport yacht titled 3K partly sank in a marina at Aventura, Florida, North-East Miami Dade on the morning of Friday 26 September.  The story was reported on the Fast Response Marine Towing and Salvage Facebook page, who also floated the Azimut back up on the same day.  The yacht caused oil pollution as it sank, probably coming out from the engines, and was surrounded by a pollution protection boon.  The cause of the sinking was reported to water coming in from the swimming ladder stowage area in the bathing platform.  
The Azimut yacht in this sinking is the 68S as designed by Stefano Righini for exterior and interiors by Carlo Galeazzi, produced from 2003 up to 2009 in over one hundred units.  When debuting in a private event in mid 2003 the 68S marked Azimut entry in offering a sport yacht. The 68S was replaced by the Azimut 72S.

Benetti Super Yacht Ends Aground in Patroklos, Aegean Greece

The recently delivered 37 meter Benetti super yacht Angel ended aground to the North of Patroklos island, in the Aegean sea Saronic Gulf of Greece, on the early hours of Wednesday 24 September.  A Greek Patrol boat came to the scene following the accident, and after inspection found a crack in the hull, although no water is coming through the area at this stage.  The Benetti yacht had four crew onboard during the collision; three Bulgarians and one Ukrainian who are reported to have no injuries.  No pollution happened from the collision with the ownership of the yacht advised that it is not allowed to move to yacht until a survey conducts an inspection and deems it seaworthy.  The Benetti super yacht damage in its bottom bow section received a temporary repair, and was then taken to a boat yard in Lavrio on Sunday 28 September.
M/y Angel is a July 2025 delivered Benetti Motopanfilo 37m, as designed by Francesco Struglia and produced since 2021 to date in ten units.  The Motopanfilo 37m was a replacement to the Benetti Mediterraneo 116.
