Pilot Boat Collides Into Super Yacht in Venice

A pilot boat collided into a super yacht of about fifty meters of length which was moored in-front of the Basilica La Salute, in the Giudecca channel, Venice, just before mid-day of Wednesday June four.  No one was injured in the collision with the pilot boat actually reported to be taking the pilot for the super yacht, so it navigates out of the Venice channel and into open sea.  The yacht was seen leaving following the accident, and the damage if any was not reported.  Looks like the pilot boat had its throttle stuck forward, just enough to have momentum and collide into the yacht stern and finish partly for a few seconds atop its bathing platform, before it went astern and fully back in the water.
The super yacht of about fifty meters in length of this collision was not reported and is not identified.

Sanlorenzo Super Yacht Collides in Moored Boats in Amalfi

A 35 meter Sanlorenzo super yacht soft collided in a couple of moored sport cruisers and yachts during a mooring operation in Amalfi Marina, Italy on the afternoon of Wednesday 21 May. Immediate the help of the mooring staff of Amalfi marina who assisted the yacht with the two ribs. According to the local Amalfi news outlet il Vescovado the yacht lost power to one of its engines during mooring manoeuvring operation. No one was injured in the collision, as the yacht was later guided to its berth.
The Sanlorenzo in this collision is an SD118 as designed by Zuccon and produced since 2021 to date in 22 units.  The Sanlorenzo SD118 came out as a replacement to the Paszkowski designed SD112.  The two boats which the Sanlorenzo collided into were a Conam 52 Chrono and a Gianetti 48 HT.

Sunseeker Yacht Goes Ablaze at Miami Beach Marina

An unattended Sunseeker flybridge yacht of sixteen meters in length went ablaze as it was berthed at Miami Beach Marina, Florida on the afternoon of Saturday seventeen May.  The yacht was reported with no one onboard, when smoke was seen coming out of the yacht, as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and City of Miami Fire came to the scene to control the fire.  Ultimately the fire was controlled and no one was injured.  The fire cause was not reported but a video on Flagship Towing Facebook page, shows that the blaze started from the electrical area in the engine room.
The Sunseeker in this fire is a second generation Manhattan 52 as designed in house and produced from 2016 to 2020 in 131 units.  The Manhattan 52 replaced the first generation Manhattan 55, with the model evolving into a second generation Manhattan 55 with some subtle changes.

Turkish Gullet Rams Mangusta Yacht in Gocek Turkey

A Turkish gullet of about twenty meters in length has been filmed as its collided into the port upper ship side of the moored 32 meter Mangusta m/y Silence III in Gocek marina, Turkey, in a video shared on social media hub Instagram the Saturday seventeen May by Fethiyenin50Tonu.  With the impact the Mangusta yacht sustained important damage to its railing, while the Turkish gullet had damage to its bowsprit.  It is not understood if the gullet had some technical problems or if it was a navigational error.  No one was injured in the collision, with the Turkish gullet looking to have five persons onboard, and one person probably a crew seen onboard the Mangusta super sport yacht at the time of the collision.
M/y Silence III is a 2004 Overmarine Mangusta 107 as designed by Stefano Righini and produced from 1998 till 2005 in seven units.  When debuting in 1998 the Mangusta 107 was not only Overmarine flagship but also the largest super sport yacht in the World, for a model which was an evolutive length extended Mangusta 105.

Stolen Yacht Drama in Martin County, Florida

A twenty meter motor yacht which was stolen was force collided in a corner by officials near Hobe Sound Bridge, Martin County, Florida for a theft which was reported at 15:55 of Monday fifth May.  The thief a 29 year old Russian native with US citizenship is reported to have made quite a journey and actually stole more then one boat.  The story actually started as the Russian Native stole a TowBoatU.S response boat from Jupiter, Florida on 01:00 early Monday time which he grounded, and then twelve hours later went on to steal the twenty meter yacht from Blowing Rocks marina.  Seeing the yacht moving away without a call at 15:55 hours the marina dock master called the owner and then understanding that it was being stolen, contacted the police.  Marine units from multiple police agencies pursued the yacht until about 17:30 hours, when they pushed it into a mangrove thicket near Hobe Sound Bridge, about six miles north of the marina where the theft began.  According to the police the Russian native was attempting to make it another eight miles north to St. Lucie Inlet, then head for sea and make a run for the Bahamas.  His motives are unclear.
The yacht in this theft is a Dyna 68 as designed by Cor. Drover and produced since 2019.  The 68 was a replacement to the Dyna 65.

Tecnomar Lamborghini Yacht Partly Sinks Near Monument Island Miami

A twenty meter Tecnomar for Lamborghini sport yacht titled m/y TNT with 32 people onboard partly sank as it was near Monument Island, Miami Beach, Florida at 17:00 of Saturday third May.  Following a distress call from the yacht the US Coast Guard was quick to the scene and started to disembark the boaters, with nearby boats and yachts also helping in the operation as the Lamborghini yacht listed heavily to its starboard stern side.  Miami Beach Fire Rescue and Miami Beach Police Department also assisted in the boaters rescue operation.  Following the saving of all the 32 guests and boaters, which were all reported uninjured a salvage operation was started by Fast Response Marine Towing and Salvage, who re-floated the yacht by the evening, and towed it to a yacht yard for repairs.  The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission is investigating the incident, as social media speculated on how the Lamborghini yacht started to sink, with the excess of guests being the favorite speculation, as the 32 people onboard is double to the certified registered maximum of sixteen.
M/y TNT is 2023 build Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63.  Produced since 2021 the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is designed by the exclusive Italian sports automaker, with Brunello Acampora doing naval architecture.  The 63 in the Tecnomar for Lamborghini has four distinctive meanings; from the founding year of the automaker, to the length of the yacht, its top speed, and the units Tecnomar will produce.

Mangusta Yacht Ends on Sandbar in Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale

The 39 meter Mangusta m/y Mirage ended stuck on a sandbar in-front and to the South side of Bahia Mar Yachting Centre, Fort Lauderdale on the afternoon of Tuesday 29 April.  The Mangusta super yacht was reported exiting the marina, when for an unknown reason it ended on the sandbar and outside of the marked zone.  Steel Towing were filmed trying to tow the yacht and take it into deep water, but because of low tide the operation was not successful and had to be postponed for at least another eight hours, and a higher tide coming in.  No environmental spill was reported from the yacht's sand bar grounding, with the extent of its damage not advised. 
M/y Mirage is a January 2025 delivered Overmarine Mangusta Oceano 39 as designed by Alberto Mancini and produced since 2023.  Build for a repeat client who is on his third Mangusta, Mirage is the third and latest hull to launch of the Oceano 39 of which three other units are currently inbuild.

25 meter Yacht Damaged by Fire in Dubai Harbour

The 25 meter m/y Big Boss had an onboard fire while berthed at Dubai Harbour, United Arab Emirates on 08:24 morning time of Sunday 27 April.  The Dubai Civil Service responded to the fire in just four minutes, and managed to extinguish it in less to two hours by 10:13.  No injuries came from the fire, with the yacht reported to be unattended.  Dubai Civil Service reported that the fire was of moderate intensity, though this is the case as they responded quickly in some minutes.  Following the extinguishing, the 25 meter yacht was reported as taking on water listing to its stern, as because the fire damaged parts of the hull below the water line. 
M/y Big Boss is a 2010 Dubai Marine Duretti 85 as designed by its builder and delivered in at least another unit, the other hull delivered in 2007.  Dubai Marine is a boat and yacht builder from Umm Al Quwain and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, who build boats and yachts from six to 37 meters, with the Duretti 85 being its known largest build to date.

Sanlorenzo Yacht Ends Into Aquaculture Farm In Palmaria Island

A classic 21 meter Sanlorenzo yacht ended into a aquaculture farm in Terizzo, to the North East of Palmaria, near La Spezia on the late morning of Tuesday first April.  The yacht who was risking to finish stranded into the rocks, was assisted by the Port Captaincy of La Spezia who intervened with CP 865, who called a diving squad to free it from the tangled ropes in its running gear and a towing boat to move away the yacht from danger.  Ultimately the operation was a success as the yacht returned with its own power, but escorted by the Port Captaincy to its berth in Porto Mirabello marina.  The yacht was reported to have dragged anchor, ending into the aquaculture farm after the wind shifted direction and increased intensity, with no injuries reported from the accident.
The yacht in this accident is a first generation Sanlorenzo 70 as designed by Della Rolle and produced from 1989 to 1993.  The 70 came out as a replacement to the wood build Sanlorenzo 20, with the model evolving in a second generation 70 with sloop stern and produced till 1996.

Out of Control Hatteras Yacht Collides Into Pershing in Miami River

A 24 meter Hatteras yacht titled m/y Top Shelf was filmed as it collided with a fifteen meter Pershing yacht and then a sailing yacht of about thirteen meters at the Miami River, on the afternoon of Monday 24 March.  The cause of the collision was not reported though in the short clip shared on social media outlet Facebook by Lacey Meade, it seems the yacht is only running on the port engine, but still pushing to port.  The yacht collided with a Tiki Company cocktail boat first, then colliding scrubbed its port side with the Pershing yacht port side, and to the smaller sailing yacht.  The incident was reported to the police, who came to the scene and took photos of the cocktail boat and damaged yachts, and is doing an investigation on the incident.
M/y Top Shelf is a 2007 Hatteras 80 Motor Yacht as produced from 2004 up to 2015 in twenty units.  The involved Pershing is a 50.1 model as designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced from 2010 to 2015 in about forty units.

New Rochelle Marina Fire Injures Two Wrecks Seven Boats

A woman and a child were injured in a fire which totalled seven boats at Imperial Yacht Club, in New Rochelle, at about 00:45 of Saturday 22 February.  Fire fighters responded to the blaze, with New Rochelle Police Harbor and Port Washington Long Island Marine all this coordinated by the New Rochelle Harbor master.  The fire got eventually more complicated as the boats burned there lines and freed themselves from the dock, burning other boats.  The fire took about two hours to contain, with the woman and child escaping from one of the boats suffering from smoke inhalation treated by firefighters at the scene before being taken to Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx.  Clean up operations were still ongoing Saturday as two of the boats sank, with one of these blocking the marina canal.  Details how the fire started are not reported, as an investigation is ongoing.
The boats in this fire are not identifiable as most of them are sank, though I can spot a Fleming 55 with what looks as mostly cosmetic fire damage to its starboard side.

Prestige Yacht Crashes Into Haulover Inlet Bridge

An eighteen meter Prestige flybridge yacht collided with one of the Haulover Bridge arms, at Haulover Inlet, Miami on the afternoon of Sunday second February.  The scene was filmed by Wavy Boats, as he showed the yacht already collided with the bridge, and then as it left the scene and zooming to show its not so big damage to its midship starboard ship-side.  The reason of the collision is not reported.  This is the second collision in less to a year with Haulover Bridge, as a 32 meter Azimut super yacht collided in the same spot on 31 March 2024.
The Prestige in this accident is a 590 F as designed by Garroni and produced since 2018.  The Prestige 590 F came out as a replacement to the 560 Flybridge.

Sanlorenzo Yacht Loses Control Near La Spezia, Italy

A 31 meter Sanlorenzo super yacht lost control and ended in a mooring dock wall at La Grazie, to the South East of La Spezia, Italy after 09:00 morning time of Monday 27 January.  The Sanlorenzo yacht was reportedly moving in the harbour going into to the Valdettaro shipyard, to be dry docked for some works, when its controls malfunctioned, with the yacht crossing the bay from North West to South East uncontrolled but making way through the water before hitting the dock wall.  In the collision the Sanlorenzo also reportedly sank a small speed boat, but no injuries are reported.
The Sanlorenzo in this collision is an SL104 as designed by Francesco Paszkowski and build from 2009 till 2015 in fifteen units.  The SL104 came out as a replacement to the SL100 and was replaced by the SL106, what is a soft evolution of the same model.

Mangusta Super Yacht Fire Scare in Fort Lauderdale

The Mangusta 54 meter m/y She's a 10 Too had a fire scare when she was berthed at Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale on the afternoon of Saturday eleven January.  Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue attended the blaze, with conflicting reports saying the fire was in the engine room and or the garage.  The fire was extinguished in just twenty minutes and contained in the area.  Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to the fire scare with its two fire boats, and was also assisted by the county’s fire boat.  The cause of the fire is not reported and under investigation, with the yacht just returning from St. Martin in the Caribbean some hours before the accident.  
M/y She is a 10 Too is a 2024 Overmarine Mangusta GranSport 54 as designed by Alberto Mancini and produced from 2018 so far in three units.  The GranSport 54 is Mangusta's current flagship, which also debuted the GranSport line in 2018, which was followed by smaller 45 and 33 models in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Viking Sportfish Ends Beached in Cancun Mexico

A 21 meter Viking sportfish yacht titled m/y Blue Rush ended beached and aground in Punta Sam, to the North of Cancun, Mexico on a story which was shared on TheQualifiedCaptain Instagram page on nine January.  The sportfish is filmed beached, and what looks a surveyor is taking photos of the hull.  The causes of the grounding are not reported, with the usual Instagram speculation comments following the story, from those of a sleeping captain to the voluntary dry dock and free bottom job for the cheap.  It will be interesting to know more at this stage, although because of insurance claims doubt we will ever hear about it.  The damage to the Viking sportfish is social media reported the be only to its propellers, with the yacht dry docked a couple of days later to the grounding.
Motor yacht Blue Rush is a 2023 Viking 72 Convertible as produced from 2016 to 2024 in 75 units, these numbers including the Enclosed Bridge version.  The Viking 72 Convertible came out as a replacement to the 70 Convertible and was replaced by the 74 Convertible.

Two Yachts Wrecked One Damaged in Fire at Port Lave Marseilles

Two yachts were destroyed and one was damaged in a fire which started on 17:29 of Thursday ninth January at Port de la Lave, near Corbieres Beach to the West of Marseilles.  The fire is reported to have started on the 27 meter m/y Naisca IV which also jumped to a seventeen meter flybridge yacht to its port side and then also to the 23 meter explorer m/y Aldabra to its starboard.  Marseilles Fire Fighters intervened to the blaze with 63 firefighters, nineteen vehicles, aerial reconnaissance drones, and the Caesar robot for an operation which became difficult to control as the yachts broke there mooring lines.  Ultimately Naisca IV and the seventeen meter flybridge yacht where badly damaged, wrecked and partly sunk from the blaze, while Aldabra is reported to receiving bad fire damage to its port side, for a fire which took just short of six hours to extinguish as it was turned off at 23:23 hours.  Following the fire the yachts where surrounded by an oil protection boon for an area which covered one hundred meters.  No causalities are reported with the cause of the fire being under investigation.
M/y Naisca IV which is the yacht reported to have started the fire is a 2006 Arno Leopard 27 Open as designed by Paolo Caliari and produced from 1994 to 2011 in 48 units.  The flybridge yacht is a Mochi Craft 56 as designed by Paolo Caliari and produced from 1989 to 93.  M/y Aldabra which was located to starboard and sustained fire damage is a custom Ocea 23m designed by Joubert and Nivelt and delivered in 2011.

Princess Yacht Ends Beached in Redhead Beach New South Wales

A sixteen meter Princess sport yacht with two woman onboard ended beached to the South of Third Creek of Red Head Beach, New South Wales, Australia, on the morning of Friday third January.  The Princess yacht is reported to have suffered engine failure during navigation and ended beached.  Both woman onboard did not have any injuries. The area where the yacht beached was cordoned by the authorities as a salvage operation was organized the following day on Saturday, after which it was towed to a nearby marina.  The Princess yacht is reported to have had minimal damage from this accident.
The Princess sport yacht in this beaching is a V53 as produced from 2005 to 2009 to a design of Bernard Olesinski.  The Princess V53 came out as a replacement to the V55 and evolved into the V56 with the addition of a larger bathing platform aft.

Classic Azimut Yacht Ends Aground in Culebra, Puerto Rico

A classic 23 meter Azimut yacht titled m/y Runaway with four people and two dogs aboard, ran aground on a reef near Ensenada Honda, to the South of the island of Culebra, Puerto Rico on 10:30 of Monday thirtieth December.  The Azimut yacht was taking on water, as the US Coast Guard intervened by disembarking two passengers, and bringing a dewatering pump to help control the flooding.  Two crew remained onboard the yacht, as its hull was penetrated on the port quarter during the grounding. The flooding was contained, as the Coast Guard reported that it poses no immediate threat to the rest of the vessel. The responders also anchored the yacht fore and aft to prevent movement on the reef and further damage, as a full floating and towing operation is being organized, with this being reviewed by Puerto Rico’s Department of Natural and Environmental Resources personnel, as the affected reef area is home to three species of endangered coral, along with sea turtles and manatees.
The Azimut in this grounding is a 1988 AZ76 as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 1988 to 1991.  The AZ76 was a cockpit extended AZ71 studied for the American market, with the model replaced by the Azimut 78 Ultra.

Six Injured as Yacht Loon's Chase Boat Crashes in Rocks at Saint Barths

Six persons were injured as a fifteen meter chase yacht titled m/y Reel Wild ended on the rocks at Anse des Cayes, Saint-Barthélemy, in the Caribbean on the night of Saturday 21 December.  Five of the eleven crew onboard the chase yacht were taken to the Bruyn Hospital for treatment to the light injuries, while a female had to be flown in Miami as she is reported to have suffered more grievous injuries after she flew off the boat on collision impact.  Service Territorial d’Incendie et de Secours firefighters responded to the accident in addition to three STIS ambulances. The Gendarmerie also arrived as back-up, followed by the mobile emergency and resuscitation service for a situation which was difficult to coordinate as the yacht ended in area hard to reach by sea cause of the reefs, and 250 meters from the nearest road.  The causes of the accident are not advised with the chase yacht reported to be returning to its mother super yacht after the crew Christmas party.  The fifteen meter chase boat had visible damage on both sides of its hull with impact delaminated areas and also to its quadruple outboard engine set up.
M/y Reel Wild is a 2024 Hydrasports Custom Boat 53ft Suenos RXV, a fifteen meter center console powered by a quadruple or quintuple outboard set up.  The HCB 53ft Suenos RXV debuted in 2015 as the 5300 Suenos, and at launch she was the largest outboard centre console ever build.
Reel Wild is the North American chase boat for the YouTube popular super yacht Loon, a 2010 68 meter Icon Yachts designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon. Launched as m/y Icon, she was actually the first Icon new build yacht which also debuted the 62 semi-custom series launched in two other units, with Loon extended by five meters in length by it's builder in 2014.  After delivering four yachts Icon has since 2014 specialized in ship to yacht conversions rather then new builds.

Nordhavn Yacht Collides with Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship in Nassau

The 36 meter Nordhavn super yacht m/y Aurora was filmed as it collided with the 362 meter Royal Caribbean cruise ship Allure of the Seas in Nassau, The Bahamas on Wednesday eleven December.  Allure of the Seas was docked during the collision, which saw Aurora collide bow first into the cruise ship port side, and then hug the ship with its starboard and during this damaging its top mast and satellite antennas as they hit the stowed life boats.  It is not reported how many persons where onboard Aurora, but one crew member is seen on the fore deck, who after the first impact drops down the fenders to avoid further damage.  According to unconfirmed news Aurora lost power as it was under way near the cruise ship, ending without control and colliding.  The extent of the damage to both vessels is not known, with Aurora reported docked in Paradise Island, Bahamas after the collision, and the cruise delaying its departure from Nassau by some time but still continuing its four day cruise.
Aurora is a Nordhavn 120 delivered in 2013 to a design by Jeff Leishman with interiors by Destry Darr.  Announced as a project in 2008, Nordhavn has only build this 120, its largest yacht to date which is still being offered in its web-site as today.
Allure of the Seas is an Oasis Class Cruise Ship as build by STX Europe Turku Shipyard, Finland ordered in March 2007 and completed in November 2010.  She is currently the seventh largest cruise ship in the World, and since 20 April 2012 has had nine accidents, with five passenger fatalities involved.
