A British flagged explorer yacht of twenty meters in length partly sank in Baia Garitsa, Naok, on the Ionian Island of Corfu on 04:00 morning time of sixteen May. According to a story on Super Yacht Captain vlog YouTube channel the explorer yacht was anchored outside, and when the strong winds came it drifted inside and collided with the outside part of Naok harbour sea wall, sustaining damage with the impact and started to take on water and eventually partly sank. The Super Yacht Captain who was berthed in a nearby spot some minutes before with the 32 meter m/y Espirutu Santo, also had to leave his berth because of the strong winds which came stronger to the advised force four forecast, reaching forty knots in that time of the night. The Greek Corfu section Coast Guard assisted the yacht passengers, although its numbers have not been reported.
The explorer yacht in this sinking is a 2006 build Aquastar 65 Explorer as designed by Ken Freivokh and produced from 2006 till 2012. Aquastar was founded in the late sixties by Geoff Willson Senior and Geoff Junior, entering operation in 1969 and closing down in 2018.
M/y Espiritu Santo is a custom made Ocea Classic 100, as designed by Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt and delivered in 2000. The Classic 100 is the first Ocea yacht, which was founded in 1987 and to date has delivered ten yachts from 32 to 47 meters.
