Hurricane Idalia

Hurricane Idalia started to form on the 26th August from a low pressure in Central America and the Eastern Pacific Ocean.  Idalia touched briefly category four on thirtieth August, when it reached the Big Bend region of Florida, and later become a category three as it crossed to South East Georgia.  Hurricane Idalia later pushed into the Carolinas as it became a Tropical Storm.  Idalia reached 110 knots of wind speed as it made landfall in Florida although it biggest damage came from the storm surge, with water level rising by over two meters.  Since August 31 Idalia has dissipated in the Atlantic, near the Bermuda's.   Idalia was the third hurricane, second major one, and the tenth storm of 2023.
Idalia caused damage to tens of boats and yachts mostly from the storm surge.  Videos on social media showed drifting boats in the Florida canals, while some home owners ended with boats in the court yard in the aftermath of Idalia's storm surge.

Austin Parker Changes Ownership

Turkish entrepreneur Baris Nalcaci has acquired Italian boatbuilder Austin Parker Yachts, a shipyard established by Giovanni Sebastiano Gravagno with over 25 years of history. The acquisition ushers in a new phase for the brand, with Nalcaci also serving as the president of Epsilon Composite, a Turkish manufacturing company specializing in composite materials for the aerospace and marine sectors.  Austin Parker Yachts, headquartered in Liguria with a production facility in Pisa, has a lineup of seven yacht models ranging from 11m to 22m, including the Ibiza, Mahon, and Palma. In the late 1990s, the yard gained recognition for its early adoption of constructing traditional 'lobster' boats.  Under Nalcaci's guidance, Austin Parker Yachts is embarking on a new chapter, marked by expansion. Giovanni Sebastiano Gravagno, the founder of Austin Parker Yachts, expresses optimism about this development, stating that Nalcaci's expertise in brand development, composite materials, and product design will be pivotal in the endeavor. Gravagno also confirms the establishment of a new shipyard spanning 27,000 sq m in Pisa.  Beyond enhancing the current product portfolio, Nalcaci aims to introduce novel offerings, notably motor catamarans designed in collaboration with renowned names like Pininfarina and Fulvio De Simoni. The launch of Epsilon Yachts by Epsilon Composite is also on the horizon.  This strategic move aligns with Nalcaci's vision of infusing fresh excitement into the market, as he anticipates presenting these innovations at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival.

Cranchi in Dubai Waters

An ideal destination in which to enjoy the quality of Cranchi yachts is the Persian Gulf, for instance by starting a cruise from Dubai.  The hotels lined up along the coast of Palm Jumeirah help create one of the most evocative skylines in the entire world. It is a scene which can be best appreciated in all its splendour precisely from the sea, as shown by the reportage from dealer Yachts One, who brought a large fleet of Cranchi vessels to the waters off Dubai Marina. They thus created the perfect encounter between some masterpieces of Italian design and boating and the unmistakeable profile of iconic hotels such as the Burj Al Arab or the Atlantis.  Having passed the Ain Dubai, the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the crews on the yachts saw the skyscrapers slowly disappear over the horizon, finally finding themselves surrounded by the vast wonder of the open sea.

Cranchi GrandTour is Back

The dealers network is preparing new events to see in the new cruising season perfectly. The details of Bellini Nautica's open day at Marina di Varazze and the Moniga’s Port Boat Show at Moniga Port in Moniga del Garda (BS) are already set, while other events are being finalised.

All the public administrations involved approved the remediation and industrial development project. On June 27, 2023, the Group successfully completed the first ever Dual Listing between Euronext Milan and HKEX.

Grand Banks Expands Malaysia Facility

Singapore-listed shipyard Grand Banks Yachts has announced that it is expanding its production facility in Malaysia by more than 25 per cent, to allow the yard to handle bigger luxury boats, increase capacity and accelerate its boat-building activities. The expansion, which will cost approximately US$6.4m, is expected to be completed by August 2024. The luxury yacht builder said the proposed new single-storey facility will be built on the existing land plot at its yard in Pasir Gudang in Johor state and will add 13,313 sqm of usable floor space to the 51,097 sqm currently, bringing the total to nearly 65,000 sqm. Grand Banks says the new facility will ‘further cement the yard’s lead as one of the most advanced luxury boat-building facilities in Asia’. Grand Banks has received the requisite approvals from Malaysian authorities, and construction is expected to commence in August 2023. The group will fund the expansion with a mix of internal resources and bank loans. The expansion is a major part of Grand Banks' strategy to ramp up boat construction and improve delivery times. Since the onset of the pandemic, demand for its three luxury yacht brands — Grand Banks, Palm Beach, and Eastbay has risen. The group has been introducing new designs and has stepped up marketing efforts, especially in North America, with recent participation in the Palm Beach International Boat Show. In 2021, Grand Banks Yachts announced the formation of GB Marine Group, along with sister brands Palm Beach Motor Yachts and Eastbay Yachts. These efforts have helped Grand Banks Yachts to lift the net order book to US$131.7m as of 31 March 2023.

Lyman-Morse in Camden Maine

The Maine Coast’s beautiful bays, rocky islands and picturesque mountains have long been renowned as an ideal backdrop for some of the best gatherings in the wooden-boat world. This year’s Camden Classics Cup provided regatta participants, their friends and families, and the local community with fantastic racing that showcased the best of what these storied waters can deliver. While not all of 86 classic and modern yachts that gathered on the waters of Western Penobscot Bay sailed home with trophies, of course, it’s fair to say that everyone decamped with get-you-through-the-coming-winter memories of great racing, wonderful camaraderie, and welcoming onshore hospitality and entertainment.  Rain might have besieged coastal Maine in the days leading up to the regatta, but blue skies prevailed on the morning of Friday, July 28, giving crews great views of Mount Megunti cook to the west and islands to the east.  “Few sights are finer than seeing these boats sailing these beautiful waters,” said Holly Paterson, event director of the 2023 Camden Classics Cup. “People come to this regatta as much for the beauty as the great racing, and it’s fair to say that both were on display on Friday.”  Some also come to strut their school colors, as was the case with the crew from the Maine Maritime Academy, who were racing aboard Wizard, a 1930 Herreschoff Fisher Island 31. “They were ecstatic,” said Joseph Lobley, the MMA’s yacht donation program manager, about Wizard’s the crew, which consisted of current students, recent alumni, and some faculty members, including the team’s coach. “Some of these sailors just got back from their senior cruise—that’s 70 days at sea, but they made time for this regatta.”

Pardo Group Sold to Calzedonia

Calzedonia Group and Wise Equity fund are pleased to announce the signing of a binding contract for the acquisition of Cantiere del Pardo, a leading manufacturer of premium sailing and motor yachts. The Calzedonia Group thus expands its activities in the field of Italian excellence. The meeting with the historical managers, Fabio Planamente and Gigi Servidati, who will maintain a minority stake in the company, the sharing of vision on the future development of the Shipyard, together with the opportunity to strengthen experience in the industrial, organizational as well as distribution fields favored the decision to conclude the operation.  Founded in 1973, Cantiere del Pardo has a history of great success and international recognition. Since its inception it has launched over five thousand boats under the Grand Soleil brand and more recently, with the Pardo Yachts and VanDutch Yachts brands. Cantiere del Pardo is recognized as one of the best manufacturers of luxury yachts in the world, thanks to its history and tradition, profound construction knowledge and the iconic design of its models.  The company has grown significantly since the arrival of Wise Equity ("Wise") as an investor in 2020, both in revenues and in corporate structure. In particular, the success of Pardo Yachts line of motor boats, conceived internally and developed with the collaboration of prestigious design studios, can be considered one of the greatest successes in the recent history of Boating Industry given the significant growth from the introduction of the first model in 2017 to the sales forecast of over 150 yachts in the last year. Servidati and Planamente, the two managers and contributors of CdP's success, will remain partners of the company, continuing the current development strategy based on quality, tradition values, service excellence and attention to sustainability challenges set out in the pleasure boating sector.  With the arrival of Calzedonia Group, Cantiere del Pardo will pursue international growth and the development of new models, with even greater attention to quality and excellence of service both for the distribution network as well as the end customer. CdP will continue to invest in sustainability, innovation and research and development, starting from its advanced production sites and its unparalleled human recourses.

Viking at Texas Gulf Coast Billfish Classic

Synchronicity emerged victorious at the Texas Gulf Coast Billfish Classic. Owner/angler Larry Mathews, fishing on his Viking 48, fought a blue for more than four hours to claim 1st Place Blue Marlin with his 726.3-pound fish. The Viking 55 A-Team weighed a 643-pound fish, good for 2nd Place Blue Marlin.  Blue Rush, a Viking 54, was the Top Release Boat with one blue marlin, seven white marlin and four sails. Blue Rush angler Grant Kilcrease also weighed the Heaviest Dolphin at 25 pounds. Deez Nautz, a Viking 55, was the 2nd Place Release Boat with one blue, one white and 10 sailfish. They also claimed 3rd Place Heaviest Wahoo with Julie Coulter’s 23-pound ‘hoo. The Viking 55 Desperado claimed 3rd Place Release Boat and 2nd Place Tuna with a 52.5-pound yellowfin.

Viking at Mobile Big Game Fishing Club Ladies Tournament

Yellow Steel won the perpetual Sea Cup at the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club’s Ladies Tournament. The Viking 72 weighed the Heaviest Blue Marlin at 426 pounds – caught by Helen DeLaney. Top Boat and Top Release Boat went to Yellow Steel for three blue marlin and three white marlin releases, all hooked by junior female anglers Helen and Katharine Goodloe. Margaret Yancey, fishing on the Viking 70 Miss Ma’am, weighed the Heaviest Dolphin, a 25.4-pounder.

Viking at White Marlin Open

The White Marlin Open (WMO) brought out the big boys to compete for a $10.5 million purse. But it was a 15-year-old boy who hit the leaderboard. On the final day of the 50th edition of the WMO, young Matthew Gessler moved into 3rd Place in the Wahoo Division with a 46-pound fish. His uncle, Tommy Gessler Jr., was at the wheel of the Viking 50 Boy’s Toy. Now here’s the funny family twist – when Captain Tommy was 15, he won the 1993 WMO with a 74-pound white marlin. Apparently, the WMO is a family affair with fathers, uncles, sons and daughters all making appearances in the Winner’s Circle – and taking home some green bills. With 400 battlewagons registered (we’re guessing there were well over 2,000 anglers) the Angler Division is fierce, but rising to the top was Dave McKendrick. Dave claimed the 3rd Place Angler honors with one blue and seven white marlin releases. He fished on the Viking 62 Taylor Jean, which took 3rd Place Boat.  Last year’s WMO saw Frank Sinito as 10th Place Angler, but this year Frank jumped up the board to 5th Place. He was fishing on his Viking 62 Irene and released two blue and two white marlin. Justin Healey, fishing on the Viking 80, was 8th Place Angler with a blue and three whites.

Viking at Texas Legend Billfish Tournament

The Texas Legends Billfish Tournament plays by jungle rules – which means there are no rules other than the fish must be caught on a conventional rod and reel and boated by hand or gaff. But that didn’t stop the Viking 82 Doulos from taking 2nd Place Overall and 1st Place Blue Marlin Points. The team released a pair of blues for the honours.  Second Place Blue Marlin Points was awarded to the Viking 68 Mine Time, which also weighed the Heaviest Yellowfin at 40.9 pounds. Third Place Overall was awarded to the Viking 70 Instigator. Blue Rush, a Viking 54, hooked the Heaviest Dolphin, weighing 21.5 pounds.

Viking at Montauk Canyon Challenge

Blinky weighed the Heaviest Tuna at the Montauk Canyon Challenge. Tom DeAngelo’s team on the Viking 55 hung a bigeye that tipped the scales at 224.7 pounds. The Heaviest Yellowfin was caught aboard Greg Marsuk’s Viking 56 Bluewater and weighed 104.3 pounds. One Love, Stephan Kiratsous’ Viking 72, claimed the Heaviest Bluefin at 97.5 pounds and Heaviest Triple Yellowfin at 290.4 total pounds. The Valhalla 46 Otter weighed the Heaviest Bluefin in the Outboard Division. The tuna was 88.1 pounds, and the center console is owned by Tony Florence. Heaviest Swordfish was the 110.6-pounder caught on Joe Knesich’s Viking 68 Jo-LI.  Over $600,000 was distributed to the 62 battlewagons during the event that supports Maggie’s Mission, which raises money to fight pediatric cancers and assists families in need.

Viking at Tri-State Canyon Shootout

Gypsea was the big winner at the Tri-State Canyon Shootout, based out of Block Island, Rhode Island. The Viking 66 landed in the top three in four divisions. First up, Jordan Sanford weighed the 2nd Largest Tuna with a 195.6-pound bigeye, and he brought the Largest Albacore to the scale with a 56-pound fish. The boat also claimed the Tri-Fishecta (one of each: albacore, yellowfin and mahi) with 125.2 points and Most Points Overall with 1,538.8 pounds.  The Viking 61 Reel Savage claimed the Largest Tuna with Steven Arcamone’s bigeye, weighing 244.6 pounds. He also claimed the 3rd Largest Wahoo at 62.2 pounds. Gregg Adamovich, fishing on the Viking 55 Lady Lisa, weighed the Largest Wahoo at 74.8 pounds. Third Place Mahi went to Jake Rogers for his 17.6-pounder aboard the Viking 57 Sea Shags. Joe Posillico, on the Viking 66 Torta, received the Sportsmanship Award.

New Model: Cayman 540WA

Cayman is making 2023 an important year by presenting two new models in a space of about six months, and after launching the new S600 in February has in the end of July also delivered its first 540WA.  Two different new models; the S600 being all about the Cayman sport yacht identity which made the fortunes of the name in the noughties, and this new 540WA seventeen meter walk around sport yacht a continuation and following of the successful 400WA which debuted in 2021.  Again a design of Ferragni, the designer of all latest Cayman models, the 540WA is a sport yacht walk-around centre console, with opening side-bulk heads and infinite seventeen meter deck space.  The galley and living are all outside on the main deck, just behind the triple seated centre console helm station with a sun-pad located both to fore and aft.  Opening side bulk heads to both port and starboard sides extend the space of the aft deck.  Down below the Cayman 540 WA is offered in two or three cabins layout, with hull one featuring the later version, which features a master room forward, and two guest cabins at midships, and a relaxing L-lounge sofa in between the fore and aft cabins.  The Cayman 540WA is powered by twin Volvo engines with IPS pods drives, and or a speed lover triple Mercury 600hp hidden under the sun-pad outboard set up.  Hull one was fitted with the standard and small for over twenty tons in running order 480hp engines, which according to initial reports reached a top speed up to 28 knots.  Bigger Volvo's 600hp and or 725hp power are available, these two being more in line with the power a sport yacht of this size and displacement deserves.

Project: Whitehaven 6500 Sports Flybridge

Whitehaven present a new model and line with this  6500 Sports Flybridge project.  Based on the hull lines of its 6500 series offered in four other versions; Sport Yacht, Flybridge, Coupe, and Sunbridge, this new 6500 Sports Flybridge brings a sportfishing aft deck layout to a modern Euro inspired yacht line forward.  With the 6500 Sports Flybridge Whitehaven wants to compete with the other down under Maritimo Offshore series and Riviera Sports Motoryacht line who have had success with similar products.  The Whitehaven 6500 Sports Flybridge will offer a three double cabins interior, with a choice for a crew cabin at midships to port side.  A technical interesting details according to the plans, is that with the crew cabin the engines of the 6500 Sports Flybridge will move further aft, although I do think this might be an error, as production wise this does not make much sense.  The Whitehaven 6500 Sports Flybridge is to be powered by twin Man 1300hp with line shaft propulsion.

New Model: Airon Marine Cinquanta Sport

Following the launch of the Airon 50 Cinquanta with hard-top in 2021, Paolo Molinari follows it with the sister Cinquanta Sport open version, a fifteen meter sport yacht dedicated to those who like sun and wind and open air navigation.  The Airon Marine Cinquanta Sport is also immersed in the roots of the Lake Como boat builder with a cockpit layout which follows that of long standing popular smaller models like the 345, the 388/4100, and the 4300 Sport.  These huge and spacious Airon-edited external cockpit layouts, with a large C-shaped settee which becomes a sun-pad, and C-shaped dinette to port side with galley and helm station opposite have been the success of the smaller Airon Marine models, and using a similar layout in the larger Cinquanta Sport makes a lot of sense.  Inside this first Cinquanta Sport offers a three double cabins layout, with a master suite forward, and two guest cabins at midships, a spacious L-shaped galley in between.  Like the hard-top Cinquanta the Airon Marine Cinquanta Sport is powered by twin Volvo 480hp with IPS pod drives.

Cruisers Yachts located in Wisconsin, USA presents its new World wide web showroom. Cruisers was officially founded in 1956 as the cruiser brand of the Thompson brothers label. Thompson entered the boating business in 1904, and sold Cruisers in 1971 to Mirro Aluminium Company in Wisconsin, with Roy Thompson still managing Cruisers as till the year of his retirement in 1979. In 1980 Mirro sell Cruisers to T.J.Bogart its former president and T.A.Lisle. K.C.Stock starts negotiating Cruisers in 1990, which will take him three years to complete the purchase. In April 2022 famed USA boat dealer and brokerage firm MarineMax buys Cruisers from K.C.S. Corporation. Today the legacy that Thompson brothers started building wood lapstrake boats is continued in four plants employing 450 persons, and building thirteen sport cruisers and yachts from the 34 GLS, to the 60 Cantius. Thirty Boats Burn Down in Nautica Feltrinelli

A fire which started in the early 02:40 hours of Saturday 26th August at Nautica Feltrinelli in via della Libera Gargnano, Brescia burned about thirty boats. The fire started in a semi-basement boat storage facility of the boat yard, with the alarm and automatic fire extinguishing system igniting to the flames, and three squads of fire fighting squads arriving immediately on the scene.  It was also reported that at ongoing fire one of the Feltrinelli's saved a few of the boats by towing them away.  According to the initial investigation the fire was ignited by a short circuit on one of the boats.
Feltrinelli boating history goes back in time to 1639 with Pietro a family of boat builders in Gargnano on the Garda lake.  The current set up was started by Egidio Feltrinelli in 1919, a returned American migrant in Gargnano who starts building fast racing boats, with the yard becoming a boat storage and repair centre in 1963 by Fausto.  Today Nautica Feltrinelli is guided by Dino, and is Frauscher Italy's dealer since 2003.

Project: Fratelli Aprea Lancia 52

Fratelli Aprea present the project for the Lancia 52, a walk around Gozzo inspired yacht of sixteen meters in length, with design coming from Brunello Acampora's Victory design. The Lancia 52 follows what other traditional gozzo builders have pioneered in recent years, most notably Apreamare and Mimi, for a walk around centre console traditional yacht suited for day cruisers with bow to stern exterior spaces.  Brunello Acampora design was a pioneer in this style when he designed the 11m Gozzo for Apreamare in 2017, although the next versions of the models by Marco Casali proved more a point where the design should go. Previous to this model Fratelli Aprea was the most traditional of the production gozzo builders, with current builds of seven to fifteen meters having an abundant flair which can compete with that of Eastern Carolina sportfish custom builders.  From the renderings visible so far the flair on the Lancia 52 seems less dramatic.  The Lancia Aprea 52 will feature three propulsion choices from traditional line shafts, Volvo IPS pod drives, and quadruple Mercury 600hp outboards with this last option showing the Italian Sorrento builder also looking at the expansive North American market.

Classic Boat Fire in Ostia, Rome

A nine meter classic sport cruiser with one person onboard went ablaze in between Fiumicino and Ostia, on 18:30 hours of Saturday nineteen August.  The one person onboard after jumping off the boat in the sea was saved by the Fiumiara river police, and at a later stage a fire fighting squad came to the scene with two boats assisted by the Guardia Costiera, turning off the fire before 20:00 hours, but after this the boat sank.  No pollution was made with the fuel tank being recovered, and the boat refloated a day later.
The classic boat in this fire is a Zarcos 9/m Sport designed by Renato Sonny Levi for hull and exterior by Franco Harrauer and produced in the early to mid seventies.  The 9/m Sport was an evolution of the 8/m and C.V. 500 models.
Zarcos acronym for Scorza, the surname of the boat builder owner debuted in around 1967 trusting its production to Levi's design, and the pioneering lamellar construction, glued wood at an acute angle to form a solid strong laminate.  Zarcos became popular in the seventies and in that decade also expanded from the first seven meters of the sixties up to a 21 meter flagship which debuted in 1976.  Zarcos is believed to having closed in the early eighties, with the 13/m and 15/m VIP models becoming popular beyond there production run.

Boat Sinks Near Stintino

A traditional motor cruiser of about eight meters in length with one passenger onboard sank near Punta Negra, to the North of Stintino, North West of Sardinia on 05:00 hours of eighteen August.  The cases of the sinking are not reported, though some unconfirmed reports are saying the traditional cruiser hit the reef of Punta Negra and probably to try and save the boat decided to beach it.  The one crew was helped by nearby boaters, and then assisted by the Guardia Costiera and Fire Fighters of the area. The man was later transported by the coast guard to Stintino.
The boat in this sinking is a Sagene 28 a pilot boat inspired motor cruiser with an accommodation for two on the lower deck, and a living with dinette and galley.  The Sagene 28 was a natural evolution of the Bargo 4, and was produced from the mid eighties till the nineties.

Project: Apreamare Maestro 88

Apreamare reveals preview images for a new full-custom semi-planning super yacht destined to change the way to experience the sea: surprising volumes, timeless elegance, and superior quality of life on board, united by that sense of safety and reliability that has always distinguished the Maestro line, now masterfully reinterpreted by the Casali-Tagliavini duo. Great projects, like stories, can arise by chance, from the passionate and joyful intuitions of its protagonists, so it is in art or science, as in boating as well. This is the case for the Maestro line by Apreamare, which traces its origins to a restaurant in Genoa during the 2005 Boat Show, when the first sketches were drawn on a piece of paper. The fervent and creative mind of Cataldo Aprea conceived a motor-yacht to navigate with a modern live aboard comfort, with great style. The success of the Maestro line, the 82 sold ten units in a production run which lasted ten years from 2008 to 2020 has inspired a new challenge for the Sorrento-based shipyard, addressed to architect Marco Casali and Umberto Tagliavini as naval architect. The challenge came from a repeat Apreamare owner, eager for a larger yacht capable of guaranteeing long and safe voyages in tough conditions and a superior quality of life on board. After the initial evaluation, the shipyard and owner converged for a new flagship of over 27 metres in overall length, while remaining below the 24-metre regulatory threshold, and thus, the new Maestro 88 is born, fully customized with a semi-planning hull. While she strongly recalls the family-feeling of the previous Maestro line, the new 88 introduces innovative solutions and a fresh interpretation of style, form, and liveability, just like the new Gozzo line. Starting from design imperatives and stylistic cornerstones, which form the basis for the large and liveable cockpit and the unmistakably coordinated exteriors and interiors, Umberto Tagliavini proposed a dedicated hull geometry to tame the sea, even in adverse weather conditions, ensuring the complete safety and comfort of guests on board. Departing from her sisters in the previous Maestro line, rather than committing to planning hull, the Maestro 88 will feature a semi-planning keel optimized to cruise at eighteen knots in absolute comfort, with the possibility for a 23 knots as maximum speed. Regarding propulsion options, Apreamare Maestro 88 will come with twin Man 1600hp engines as standard, with eight thousand litres of fuel for a range up to one thousand nautical miles at ten knots. For Maestro 88 hull one, the owner chose the larger engines of twin 2,000hp Man which increase top speed by five knots. The external lines, endowed with great elegance and visual impact by the hand of Marco Casali, continuously dialogue with the indoor, which were designed to experience all around views of the sea. Compromises were not permitted in this project, resulting in continuous and direct visual contact with the outdoor. The connection with the marine element finds its natural quintessence on the large aft deck, in the bow lounge, across the sprawling beach club and through the long sliding glass windows. The expansive glazing also characterize the hull for a good part of its length, sending lots of light below deck, bringing out the chromatic games, and embellishing the marine reflections which are projected into the interiors. To solidify the sense of enhanced safety, a bow high above the water has been designed with an 80 cm rail, a pleasant frame to protect free circulation onboard, and for greater freedom of movement on deck. On the flybridge numerous spaces are to be dedicated to relaxation and boasting an elegant galley module with wet-bar, a T-Top with a light and captivating design stands out. The entire surface area of this part is covered with solar panels to power the onboard systems. For the entertainment of guests or for romantic getaways, the transom garage can house a four-metre tender and numerous water toys. The interiors are fully personalized, customizable in the number of cabins, furnishings and concept. Hull number one of the Maestro 88 will be launched with four suites, a studio and relaxation corner with an electric piano, but future owners have the option for up to five guest cabins and two for crew to accommodate a total of four. The flexibility of the Maestro 88 is a further confirmation of the Apreamare construction philosophy, operating as a “boutique” shipyard, capable of responding to any need for customization through an infinite choice of materials, essences, fabrics and colours, and thanks to the skilled hands of the internal workers, who are real artisans of excellence.

Sunseeker Yacht Ends Aground in Ilha Desert

A nineteen meter Sunseeker sport yacht with twelve persons onboard ended aground at about 02:00 hours of Thursday seventeen August, in Ilha Deserta located to the West of Faro Olhao in Portugal.  The passengers where assisted by the Portugal Maritime police, and a sixteen meter sport yacht which was traveling with the grounded super yacht. All the persons where uninjured in this grounding collision. The sport yacht was removed from Ilha Deserta a couple days later, with the help of a dagger and a tug boat, and then towed to Villamoura for repairs.  An unsuccessful attempt was made to tow the yacht away on the same evening by the other yacht, luckily not succeeding considering the minimum of damage to the propellers and rudders does create a hull breach and would have probably sunk the yacht.

The Pershing 52 has an interior with three double cabins, and a choice of pwc garage or crew cabin aft, and is powered by twin Man 800 or 1000hp engines with surfaced drives for speeds up to 45 knots from the more powerful option.  The Pershing 52 came out as a replacement to the 54, and was replaced by the 50 in the fall of 2003.
