Four boaters were saved as a classic thirteen meter Bertram sportfish cruiser went ablaze in Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis on the morning of Saturday sixteen June. The four boaters were saved first by nearby boaters, as Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Annapolis Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard Mid-Atlantic Maryland, Department of Natural Resources, and Natural Resources Police responded to the blaze. No injuries were reported from the blaze as the classic Bertram sportfish was ultimately wrecked.
The Bertram in this fire is a 46 Convertible, as designed by Dave Napier and produced from 1971 to 1987. When launched the 46 Convertible was Bertram's largest boat, keeping the flagship status for five years. The 46 Convertible evolved into the Mk.II in 1982 and then Mk.III in its last two years of production before being replaced by the Bertram 50 Convertible.
