Sanlorenzo New Web Site

Italian motor and super yacht builder Sanlorenzo presents its new World wide web showroom. Sanlorenzo was founded in 1958 by Gianfranco Cecchi and Guiliano Pecchia at Viareggio, with the first premises being at the Canottieri Berchielli.  In 1972 Giovanni Janetti takes over Sanlorenzo who renews the production and range with the 16,5 and 20 Vetrorovescio as designed by Paolo Caliari.  From its founding till 1985 the company builds it's cruisers and yachts in wood, but in 1985 Sanlorenzo launches the 57 its first fiberglass build.  From the 57 Sanlorenzo will start switching gradually all its range into fiberglass construction, 55 Sport in 1987, and the 80 in 1988 are the first three models built in gross reinforced plastic material. The Sanlorenzo 80 will remain a flagship for a couple of years up until 1995 when the 100 is launched.  In 1999 Sanlorenzo moves to a new yard in Ameglia, La Spezia. The new Ameglia yard is also ISO 14001 certified. 2005 marks a change of leadership at Sanlorenzo when Massimo Perotti takes over from Giovanni Janetti.  In the same year Sanlorenzo opens a new Viareggio production site which will be dedicated to the larger yachts.  2007 is an important year for Sanlorenzo with the launch of the new SD92 presenting the Semi Displacement line, and the first 40 Alloy model which is also its first aluminium built yacht. This last apart being the new Sanlorenzo flagship up till 2010 will receive three important awards from Showboats and World Superyacht. In 2010 Sanlorenzo launches another larger flagship the 46Steel, which is also the first Sanlorenzo build with steel metal hull.  New flagships come again in 2017 with the 52Steel, in 2019 with the 64Steel, and in 2025 with the 74Steel.  In 2017 Sanlorenzo presents the modern cross over sporty explorer SX line with the SX88 model, and is followed by the SX76 a year later.  In 2022 Sanlorenzo enters into the super sport yacht segment with the SP line and the SP110, which is followed in 2024 by the smaller SP92.  Today Sanlorenzo continues its semi-custom approach and builds about fifty motor, and super yachts a year.  The current Sanlorenzo line up is divided in the Superyacht, which is divided in the four; Alloy Line, Steel Line, Explorer Line, X-Space Line, and Yacht range; SL Line, SD Line, SX Line, SP Line and SHE which build yachts from the SX76 up to the 74 Steel, totalling 25 models.  The new Sanlorenzo website takes you around with the following buttons; Yachts, Brand, and Arts and Culture.  Sanlorenzo is also on social media with lower right page buttons taking you to its Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, and YouTube pages.

New Model: GX Superyachts GX42 RPH

Just two years after unveiling the GX Superyachts vision at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, the company is celebrating another defining milestone with the successful launch of the first GX42 RPH, the 42-metre flagship, which has just world debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026. The launch marks the transformation of GX Superyachts from an ambitious concept into a tangible reality. Conceived to redefine expectations in the superyacht sector, the GX42 combines striking contemporary design, long-range capability and a radically more responsible approach to luxury yachting. Developed by the experienced team behind Greenline Yachts, the GX42 builds on more than fifteen years of expertise in hybrid propulsion and energy management. She introduces those proven technologies into the superyacht world through an advanced parallel diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system, extensive integrated solar arrays and a large-capacity lithium battery bank, dramatically reducing emissions while delivering a quieter, more comfortable onboard experience. Built in collaboration with SES Yachts in Türkey, the GX42 also demonstrates the strength of the partnerships established since the brand's launch. The project has brought together specialists in naval architecture, engineering, construction and design to deliver a yacht that challenges conventional expectations of efficiency without compromising luxury, performance or comfort. Following her launch, final outfitting, and sea trials the GX 42 travelled to Monaco for her official public premiere. The GX42 represents the first model in the GX Superyachts planned range extending from 24 to 56 metres. By combining advanced hybrid technology, intelligent energy management, refined Italian design and genuine long-range cruising capability, GX Superyachts continues its mission to establish a new benchmark for sustainable luxury at sea

Nor'Easter Storm Batters US East Coast from Carolina to New England

One man was killed as a storm called the Nor'Easter, battered the North Eastern Coast of the USA from North Carolina to New England between Friday 25 to Monday 28 September.  The Nor'Easter Storm brought coastal flooding, power cuts, travel chaos and cancelled stadium events.  States of emergency were declared in New York and New Jersey, both of which faced a coastal deluge in some areas.  One 56 year old man was killed as he was hit by a falling tree, in Brooklyn.
As boating goes Massachusetts and Northport Harbour in New York were the most affected, as some boats broke and or drifted their swing mooring ending aground or colliding into each other.

Project: Van der Valk 30-metre Project Nexo

Van der Valk Shipyard is proud to announce Project NEXO, a new 30-metre concept. For decades, the shipyard has delivered fully custom yachts, each one shaped in close dialogue with its owner. That philosophy remains at the core of everything we do. With Project NEXO, Van der Valk has chosen to set its own brief, in cooperation with Dutch design studio Phathom: a self-initiated concept that puts forward a clear vision of what a modern yacht at this length can be. More than a design study, Project NEXO reflects a distinct perspective on how space, comfort and life on board come together.

Italian Dominion and Reinventing of Pocket Super Yachts

Italian yacht builders has always feed the 24 to thirty meter pocket super yacht market.  From a certain point of view the Italians started and expanded the segment, and made it become over the years the important not too big and nor small category, which many yacht builders crave today.  Semi-custom-production yachts like the Baglietto 26m build from the seventies to the mid eighties, and the Benetti 26 and 25 models of the mid seventies were pioneers in making this size, what it has become today.

Today Italian Yacht Builder's continue to re-invent the segment, on the design and on the legislative front.  The smart legislative move was having yachts in this size which stay under the 24 meters of Load-Line-Length in the twenty-tens.  This makes building these yachts easy to legalize, operate, and register.  Ferretti, Sanlorenzo, and Azimut were pioneers in this, expanding the size of the yachts beyond 27 meters, and today arriving up to thirty meters of length over all but still staying under the 24 meter LLL legal frame work.

But the Italians have also been clever in putting new design segments in the 24 to thirty meter size, which then into the years also went over the thirty meters size.

Beyond the standard flybridge motor yacht sport yachts were the first to be pushed over 24 meters in the nineties; Overmarine Mangusta, Baglietto, and Arno Leopard were a pioneers in expanding the size of the Super Sport Yacht.  In the twenty-tens Sanlorenzo pioneered the innovative SX line, which still today beside the recently arrived bit different Azimut Seadeck and Sunseeker Ocean have little competition.  Azimut also pioneered the new style hybrid explorer volume focused yachts, with the Magellano.  Again today this line has a competition from the likes of Ferretti InFynito, Horizon, Ocean Alexander, and Princess X-line.

Now Sanlorenzo and Italy does it again, as it debuted the new SHE.  A retro pocket super yacht, inspired to the gentleman yachts of the sixties, bringing the past into the future not only from the same builder but bringing inspirations of Baglietto, and Picchiotti of that decade gone by. Just launched in Cannes 2026, SHE Sanlorenzo has sold seven units.

What all this shows is that the Italians keep on pushing the design of the segment, introducing new elements to excite yacht buyers and future owners to sign the dotted lines.  While doing what works is important; Azimut, Ferretti, and Sanlorenzo still dominate the classic flybridge yacht in this size, introducing new segments is an important part to push new growth.  Models like SX for Sanlorenzo; the SX 88 has sold over eighty units in ten years of production, and helped Sanlorenzo to become one of the top three super yacht producers in the World.  For real comparison, that is as much units as the standard SL86, in more or less the same production times.

So fair to the Bell Paese, Italians its true dominate this segment by like seventy per-cent, but it's also a fact, they do not rest on their laurels, and always look ahead to excite clients and the market; with innovative elements of comfort, design, speed, and technology.
