A yacht of about eighteen meters in length with four persons onboard was destroyed by fire in Aquarium Bay on Tersane Island in the Fethiye district of Muğla on the afternoon of Thursday 29 August. At first the fire was fought by the four boaters, with no success as they jumped in the water for safety. Ultimately the Turkish coast guard and General Directorate of Safety came to the scene and intervened, saving the boaters first and then fighting the fire, as the yacht was wrecked by the blaze.
The yacht in this fire is a Turkish build with a boxy shape which offers home living style spaces. A few Turkish yacht builders are building this style of modern explorer yachts, although they are rarely marketed and sold outside of Turkey.
