Four People Injured as Boat Explodes in Riverside Marina Detroit

Four People were injured as a ten meter sport cruiser exploded at the Marathon Fuel Pump, Riverside Marina, in East side Detroit, at 18:54 of Thursday 24th September.  The sport cruiser was reported going on fire first before it exploded.  Detroit fire fighters rushed to the scene, to assist the four boaters, and turn off the blaze.  The four boaters; two men aged 31 and fifty and two women aged 27 and 35, sustained burns to legs and feet and were taken to a local hospital.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.    
The boat in this fire is a Wellcraft 3100 Express cruiser as produced from 1983 up to 1987.  The 3100 Express Cruiser shared platform with the 310 Sedan, with the model being an evolution of the 310 Suncruiser.  The 310 Express Cruiser was replaced by the Wellcraft 3200 St. Tropez with sloop stern design.
